Summary: Barry didn't have time to really look at the suit he was wearing before, with what felt like the whole Justice League trying to kick his ass. Or possibly kill him, depending on what they were like with Eobard Thawne on their side. But now he had a few moments to stop and really look at the yellow suit he's wearing and, well...
It's not what he was expecting.
The Banana Aesthetic
Barry knew he was wearing the yellow Reverse Flash suit. Which was still so bizarre because, he'd arrived and his suit was still Flash red. Took it off to swap with his regular clothes from the storage ring and it was definitely still red. But when he'd swapped back... Barry could have sworn it was still red when he put it on. But when he came to a stop, his suit... it was yellow.
Time travel was a mindfuck, so Barry didn't really try to think too hard on how all of Eobard's disparate and contradictory temporal alterations had managed this.
But... the thing was, Barry hadn't really had a chance to actually look at the suit while at Robern's. He'd registered it was yellow - brighter than he remembered the suit being - but then what felt like the entire Justice League came after him to kick his ass and take him into custody for Reverse Flash's crimes. Because apparently Barry was the Reverse Flash now. It didn't feel real, though, and Barry just... needed to see this for himself, to be sure it wasn't some weird... optical illusion.
They might've also been trying to kill him; honestly, Barry wasn't too clear on that point. There were a few faces there he didn't recognize and even the ones he did were probably very different people under Eobard's influence. Though what Allegra said about Cisco...
Cisco who, with his powers, could have brought down Eobard's whole house of cards by vibing the truth. No wonder Eobard made sure it was the Reverse Flash who'd killed him. Though... without his powers, Cisco wasn't a threat at all. Which meant Eobard might have actually just killed Cisco to be petty and that...
He'd call. When this was over and Barry had checked in on Joe first, he'd call Cisco and Kamilla and make sure they were okay. Because this would be fixed. Barry had to believe that. But first...
There was an old Rogues hideout that Barry had learned about from Mick during one of their many Team Flash/Legends team ups. And, thankfully, it's still a Rogues hideout here and just as abandoned as it had been a few years earlier. One of Snart's parkas collecting dust in the coat closet, a stolen toaster in the kitchen, and... a mirror Barry can use in the bathroom.
The suit isn't what Barry expected. The suit he remembered - the suit Eobard had been wearing for years while Barry's changed and upgraded over time - had been a darker shade of yellow that faded into black. It was the suit that Eobard wore in Barry's nightmares and the suit he remembered from the night of his mother's death. And wearing that suit... Barry didn't think he could bear it.
Except... this wasn't that suit. It was all yellow. Bright yellow. Except for the boots, which were red. In fact, aside from the red boots... it looked exactly like Barry's current iteration of the Flash suit. Aside from being painfully yellow instead of tastefully red.
Barry tested the cowl release and... yeah, it was nanotech, just like his Flash suit. His hair somehow pristine, which secretly weirded him out a little. Even if it did make quick changes between being Barry Allen and being the Flash easier.
He looked over the suit again and the scrunched up his nose. Bright yellow, especially large blocks of that color, had always given him terrible eyestrain. The color literally hurt to look at for too long. How Eobard could bear it... Barry had no idea.
And worse... "I thought he looked like a banana before, but running around in this getup?" Barry sighed. "And now I have to run around dressed like a banana. What the hell, Eobard? Seriously... what the hell?"
Of course, being that Eobard - thankfully - wasn't there, Barry got no answer.
Barry finished changing back into his normal clothes which were, fortunately, the same as when he'd worn them earlier. Nothing that proclaimed him to be the Reverse Flash stamped on them, not that Barry would've put it past Eobard at this point. But now he could go on a fact finding mission, though first... he flashed around the apartment until he found the emergency cash stash. Enough to last him, and his appetite, a few days. Though if Eobard's dire warnings were to be believed, Barry didn't have a few days. He had a few hours. But he'd done more with less and he had to keep believing he'd find a way out of this.
But still... the fact that he was running around looking like a speedy banana suit was definitely the insult to his soon-to-be-erased-from-existence injury.
What was wrong with Eobard's aesthetic sense? Sure, he was the Reverse Flash, but the banana yellow suit was clearly taking things a step too far.
Barry decides he deserves a Jitters run. Surely Jitters won't be changed too much - Eobard had always liked Jitters coffee, just like Barry and the rest of Team Flash...
(In retrospect, the giant cardboard cutout of Eobard-as-the-Flash is actually pretty funny. Cisco thinks it's hilarious when Barry tells him over the phone.)
