Chapter 14 - We All Go a Little Mad Sometimes Part 2

Last time...

As Damon and Stefan explore an old shop in England, they discover Manning's Assassin's diary. As Damon reads from it, Klaus realizes that the flame haired assassin is V, a woman he met and released him from the Hunter's curse centuries before who nearly killed him. While Klaus recalls this, Caroline shares in his memory through contact and the Vow, finding out that he knew her before he came to Mystic Falls. As Klaus and Kol manipulate the Salvatores to bring V's belongings to the Quarter, the Salvatores trigger a bomb in the shop. While the group attempts to recover from the shock, a phone contained in the envelope Caroline brought in to show to Klaus earlier, begins to ring. When Klaus picks up, the voice on the other side belongs to none other than V herself.

A/N We are closing in on 250 reviews! How. Exciting! I have been envisioning this chapter for a loooong time. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I had fun writing it.

Also. Via reviews and much thought, it has been decided that the name of Klaus' dad will remain Manning. Considering that Klaus's dad in the TO world was less than impressive and he currently doesn't look like he is going to have a prominent role on the show besides a random reference here and there, I feel I can get away with calling him Manning since the two men are drastically different in my mind anyways.

So yeah. Bugger that "Ansel" business. He doesn't exist in this story. Guess I had less respect for canon than I thought :).

Caroline POV

I stare at Klaus who is wearing a grim look on his face as he talks on the phone.

I couldn't believe it. For that girl V to call now, right after Stefan and Damon got to blown up in her shop...

I clench my teeth, my sadness turning to anger. This wasn't an accident.

Her next words prove as much.

"I do not abide to unwanted visitors encroaching on my territory Niklaus. You understand," she says in a business tone in that strange accent of hers that just makes me want to choke her brains out. How dare her act like this was some sort of self-defense!

"No! We don't!" I say furiously at the phone with a shake of my head, interrupting Klaus before he can say a word. "No one is buying that Stefan and Damon just happened to get half way across the world looking for Elena in your shop of all places!"

I see Klaus' eyes widen in realization, then an expression of pride seeps onto his face, his blue eyes boring into mine, making me blush. I break eye contact. He needs to stop that.

"How true," he says, and I look at him smirking into the phone. "I'd admit, the fact the Salvatores finding your lair without even trying irked me when I have failed in that endeavor for centuries. Caroline is right. You lured them there."

"Wait," says Kol, with a wave of his hand and briefly closing his eyes to play catch up. "V is the name of Manning's assassin?"

"How is she even still alive?" cuts in Bonnie.

"Hybrid," I answer them. "She's a hybrid."

They both look at me as if I've grown two heads. I can only imagine the questions all of them that can be summed up into one word: How?

Kol probably can figure it out, he's surprisingly brighter than he looks, but V's voice stops their barrage of questions before they even start.

"Caroline's always been too bright for age," V says in a bored tone. "She will be your match in every way when all this is said and done Niklaus."

I perk up at that. When what is all said and done? And his match? Please. Klaus is as old as dirt. I'll never be his match. Just thinking about it makes me insecure. Klaus has no clue but his bajallion years of age is really intimidating when I let myself think about it. One of the many reasons why we can't work besides the obvious Hayley issue.

"Do not distract me V with your riddles," growls Klaus. "You lured the Salvatores to blow them up. Why?"

"Stefan is important to Caroline and Caroline is important to you," she answers flatly and I take comfort in the fact that she is talking of Stefan in the present tense. "If anything or anyone disrupts her happiness..."

My eyes widen, seeing where this is going, but Bonnie says what I'm thinking out loud.

"She wants to die," she says. "She wants you to kill her," Bonnie says to Klaus. "If she wants to die so bad, why doesn't she do it herself."

"I don't think she can," I answer her.

Klaus shakes his head in disbelief, while Kol laughs.

"Oh this is bloody excellent!" Kol says, clapping his hands together briefly in amusement. "I'm assuming if Manning's plaything is still alive, she must be a vampire. One whose turned it off it seems!"

I stiffen, knowing he's right. The flat tone in her voice, the reckless killing...

I whirl at Klaus, scared. I catch the look of concern he has before he masks it.

This woman almost killed Klaus with her emotions on. With them off...

"Are you even capable of being serious?" Bonnie asks Kol disdainfully.

"I'm capable of many things darling," he says, coming up behind her. "One of those many things involve me getting very serious and having you in the nude, my little witch," he whispers in her ear and I can feel her shudder beside me even though she rolls her eyes, letting out a snort.

"In your dreams Kol."

"You're already there darling."

"V," Klaus starts cautiously, interrupting their banter. "Think very carefully now love. Whatever has you thinking that death is the answer..."

"You disappoint me Niklaus," she says. "I've hurt your lady love's best friend. A man that was once your best mate! Caroline has always been too forgiving but you! The almighty Original Hybrid?!" She tsks. "Shame. I did not want to involve her, but it looks like I must. You clearly are in need of a proper provoking."

Klaus' face turns cold as stone then at the threat that is clearly for me. "You wouldn't dare," he hisses.

"I'll have you dancing around my dead body after this," she says with a dark chuckle.

"V..." he says in warning tone.

I hear a click behind us. Then a beeping sound from the closet.

Please don't tell me that's what I think it is, I think dreadfully.

Even Kol stops smiling.

"If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for bombs. They're so pretty..." V says distantly.

I don't even have a chance to blink, only seeing Klaus drop the phone to flash in my direction.

I feel his arms wrap around me, his masculine smell enveloping me before I feel the heat prickle my face and the bomb blows us forward clear through the window.

I grab on to him, his body twisting in mid-air as we fall the fifteen stories to the ground.

And down below, for a second, behind Klaus' shoulder, I can see V sitting casually on a motorcycle seat, clad in a leather bodysuit, sunglasses on to protect her eyes from the flying glass, watching the show, her hair blowing furiously from the blast.

Then we hit the pavement. I hear Klaus' body make sickening snap under me just as my forehead bounces on the concrete, shattering my skull, turning everything black.

I groan, feeling hands brush my hair away from my forehead. I open my eyes and when the fuzziness fades I see Klaus' worried face.

I say the first thing that comes to my mind, remembering that horrible snapping sound.

"You protected me..." I murmur, the warmth of knowing he put is own body before mine, instinctively to shield me from harm taking my breath away. What was he doing to me? I don't want to care. I can't care about him. But why is he the only one who would do this for me? Why?

"Of course," he responds like its the most obvious thing to do.

The tears are falling from my face before I can stop them. His concern turning into panic the second he sees them, making my emotional overload worse.

He really loves me. Why couldn't he be like everyone else just trying to get in my pants or just trying to replace me for Elena? Why?

"Caroline...Caroline!" He lifts me in his arms, feeling my back, looking for any trace of injury that would cause my tears. He's totally oblivious to the emotional turmoil I'm going through.

He pulls back a little to search my face, wiping away my tears. "Love, what is it?"

I sniff, shaking my head, getting myself together. "Nothing. I'm fine." Without thinking, I'm grasping his cheek in return, watching the concern fall away. "Are you okay?" I ask.

His eyes widen for a second in disbelief, then a beautiful dimpled smile graces his face.

"Well. I am the Original Hybrid sweetheart," he says all cockily.

I roll my eyes, but smile back at him, secretly happy to be reminded of how indestructible he is.

"I'm as fine as one whose had their back snapped and his head cracked open the against pavement" he says, his face turning hard at the memory.

I could see him visualizing the number of ways he's going to kill V. I hold his face close to mine to distract him, putting his forehead against mine. He closes his eyes at the contact.

"She's turned it off Klaus," I whisper to him. "Something must of happened to have made her do that. We have to help her."

Klaus pulls away from me, aghast. "Stop it Caroline! She hurt you, she tried to kill Stefan..."

"Ah ha!" I cry triumphantly. "You don't think she killed them either!"

He runs his hand through his face in frustration but answers me anyways. "Though V is an assassin by trade, she does not enjoy death as you saw in my memory. Furthermore, she had the perfect chance to kill us. We were out cold. She could have killed us. Killed me..."

"And killed herself like she wanted in the process," I finish for him. "So it's true."

He looks at me, waiting for me to finish.

"She's the only thing that can really kill you. The White Oak Stake..."

He clenches his jaw before he lets out a breath, clearly debating if he should say anything.

He does.

"You saw into my mind Caroline. You had to have felt the cold that comes before death, having died yourself. V truly nearly killed me back in Italy had she not hesitated. As for immunity to the White Oak stake, I think if you think hard enough, you can think of an instance that was proven to be true."

My face contorts in confusion, not knowing what instance he's talking about. Klaus has never been...

He smiles when he sees me figure it out.

"Alaric..." I gasp out. "Oh my God! That's why you could still get back into your old body because it never really died in the first place!"

He brushes his fingers over my cheek, his eyes full of tenderness. "So much more than pretty face," he whispers, glancing at my lips.

My breath catches in my throat and I try to distract myself from his smouldering stare, and the way he's dangerously leaning in. "Damon said it was because they closed the casket too quickly," I say quietly. "That's why you didn't burn."

He is a hair away from his lips meeting mine and I want to kiss him as much as he does when his hand sneaks into my hair, caressing my neck.

"Whatever they need to believe so they can sleep at night love," he says, his lips brushing mine teasingly as he talks.

I slip my hand around his neck, relishing his intake of breath and then the power of the Vow that makes our chemistry spark like wildfire.

"Caroline..." he whispers huskily, his eyes set on my lips, quietly asking for permission.

I push him gently forward in answer, kissing him soundly, thinking the words I can't said aloud:

Thank you for saving me.

Thank you for your honestly.

Thank you for loving me.

Like always with any of our kisses, it heats up like an inferno. He slips his tongue through my parted lips, exploring and tasting me thoroughly.

I hold him closer to me, my hand gliding down to his tattered shirt as I kiss him back powerfully and it all comes back.

We just survived an explosion.

And not all of us are vampires.

I pull away from Klaus, our disconnecting lips making a loud smacking sound.

"Oh my God Bonnie!" I shout, flashing away.

I find her easy enough and I almost laugh, finding her on top of Kol. I should totally take a picture.

I snap my mind back to worry mode, though, seeing her unmoving. I am instantly next to her, only to see Kol wide awake, grinning like the cat that got the cream at her body.

I roll my eyes, disgusted. "Seriously?"

"Leave her alone darling," he says. "She's perfectly fine taking a nap on my flawless chest. I don't even mind the drool."

"Ugh!" I kick him, making Bonnie fall to the side accidentally and awaken when she hits the ground.

She winces, slowly lifting herself from the ground, hand on her head. "Ow," she groans, wincing.

"Oh your fine," Kol says, sitting up, looking offended that she's displaying an ounce of discomfort. "You don't have a scratch on you."

"Well," says Klaus, coming up behind me. "Now that's sorted, I have a hybrid to put down. You three stay here."

We all protest in unison, Kol and Bonnie flying to their feet as they do so.

"I don't think so," spits out Bonnie.

"I'm not one of your minions Klaus you get to tell what to do," I say in disdain, hands on my hips, glaring at him.

"Why exactly is it that you get to have all the fun?" grumble Kol.

"Enough! The lot of you!" he shouts, shutting us up. "This is not up to discussion! V is my problem and I will handle her!"

"Handle her as in kill," I say disapprovingly.

"There is no other way!" he retorts heatedly.

"The sire bond..." I argue.

Klaus shakes his head dismissively. "V is too smart for that. If Tyler Lockwood can be successful in breaking it, V must have figured it out by now. She would not reveal herself knowing I can just command her to stop her suicide mission."

"There has to be a way to avoid this!" I say exasperatedly. Maybe I'd feel different if she killed Stefan but I just feel it in my bones she didn't. And if she was able to spare Damon and Stefan with her emotions off, she's got to be a good person right? Besides...

"She been there from the beginning, didn't she say that?" I say to Klaus. "She got to know like a gazallion things. Probably how to permanently kill Esther or even things about your biological dad! She knew him. She probably even had a thing for him if she hunted you for centuries to avenge his death!"

Klaus' face closes off in response, his eyes frosting over like glaciers. "Learning about the father who was too cowardly to claim me as his own means nothing to me," he answers coldly.

"What about Esther? What about eliminating threats to my life?" I point out. I knew I was playing with his feelings for me but I had to try. Him killing V is a mistake. I feel it.

He glares at me, my ploy not lost on him as Kol interrupts.

"Um. Why does it sound like you and Nik know more about this V than the rest of us?" asks Kol. "Mind filling us in darling?"

"No," Klaus and I say together.

Kol rolls his eyes.

"So you think that this V can help us?" asks Bonnie.

Klaus let out a huff, irritated. "Possibly. I hunted her for centuries because it was clear to me that she is something more than a hybrid. I figured since she successfully broke the Hunter's curse for me that it wouldn't be far fetched to assume she had knowledge of ways to breaking my hybrid curse. Caroline is right. There is no telling the wealth of knowledge she holds but what does it matter? She has gone mad, her humanity switch off. She is immune to compulsion and she's more than likely broken the sire bond. She may decide to kill Caroline just to force my hand so I will give her what she bloody desires: death. There is no other option."

"Actually," says Bonnie, looking at me. "Care, you said she might of had a thing for Klaus' dad?"

I think over her question before answering. "Uh. Well. I think so. It doesn't make sense why she would hunt Klaus for centuries to avenge Klaus' dad's death if it wasn't someone she cared about."

"So," says Kol, serious for once. "Would you say that Manning might be able to influence her somehow? Maybe make her turn it back on?"

I gasp aloud, putting together something. Everyone looks at me curiously. "Manning might be the reason she turned it off in the first place! Living all these years without him...maybe it finally made her snap!"

Klaus rolls his eyes in response, unimpressed. "As fascinating as this budding romance novel theory is, this speculation session does nothing for us. Even if there is truth to what you say, love, Manning is dead. Unless there is some way to resurrect him, they is no po-"

"Actually," comes in Bonnie, pulling out the necklace under her shirt that holds the howling wolf medallion. She smiles meaningfully at Kol. "I think we might have a way."

Kol brightens up while Klaus and I just look on not getting it.

"Brilliant, darling," Kol says. "Brilliant."

Klaus on a bike. God. This is a new wet dream, I can't help but think as I hold him tightly around his mid-section to stay on motorcycle we are on, moving through the Australian highway strip in the dead of night. I push the growing desire of the physical aspect of the Vow down, not allowing myself to get caught up in Klaus' immortal hotness vortex.

Why?

Because after what Kol and Bonnie revealed to us, Klaus has been as quiet as the grave and I knew he was feeling more than he was giving away which was nothing.

He can't fool me though. If we were going to get V to our side, we were going to have to summon Manning.

Which would mean Klaus meeting his father, alive, for the first time.

There is no way he's not phased by that.

"Klaus..." I start.

"Don't, Caroline," he responds briskly.

I bit my lip, not sure if I should push him or not based on his sharp response. Fine. If he doesn't want to talk about that then...

"Fine. How about you fess up about how you knew me before I came to Mystic Falls."

He stiffens under my grasp and I feel his taunt muscles rippling under my fingertips, giving me naughty thoughts, but I stay focused.

"I..." he sighs. "Caroline..."

"I always wondered why you bothered saving my life, why you bothered inviting me to your mother's ball. Guess we know why."

"Caroline. I did not know as much as you think," he says hurriedly. "What you saw in the memory of V and I was everything I ever knew. She told me next to nothing. All I knew is that there was a girl named Caroline who would become important to me. She didn't tell me when we meet, how you looked like...my draw to you was strictly curiosity at first and in the back of my mind, I wondered, yes. If you were THE Caroline. MY Caroline," he adds softly.

My hearts skips a beat, hearing the last part.

"But it was you light, despite your vampirism, that drew me to you. Your honesty, your...boldness," he says with a laugh that I return. "That made me want to get to know you. So yes, V may have laid the seed of intrigue but you did the rest all by yourself by being you, sweetheart."

I say nothing, swallowing down a lump in my throat as I flush my body against his and hug him to me.

I feel him take one of my hands and thread his fingers into it, bringing it up against his heart.

I close my eyes, absorbing the feeling, this moment between us.

"Say something Caroline," he says huskily.

I lean my head on his back, opening my eyes slowly, squeezing his hand under mine.

"Did you ever think you just wanted me to be the one? Maybe there's another Caroline, waiting for you," I can't help but say.

"No. Even if there is another Caroline," he squeezes my hand. "I'll have no other."

I gulp, his determination soaking into my system. "Klaus..."

"I intend to be your last love. That has not, and will not change."

I lift my head to read his reaction to what I say next. "Not even with Hayley and the baby?"

I see his jaw clench at that. "No," he says stubbornly.

"Then you'd have me waiting on the wings or playing house with you, Hayley and your love child?"

"You're being petty."

"And you are being naive if you think you having a baby with her hasn't changed things!" I cry, my irritation with the situation showing.

"Then what would you have me do Caroline?!"

"I would have you tell me the truth! That," I try to mimic his accent. " 'This was nice while it lasted Caroline but it can't work. Obligations and all that, you understand sweetheart.' "

"That isn't in the least amusing."

"Well. It's a matter of time."

"I won't let you go."

"Well you might not...aah! What the hell!" I shout, when Klaus switches off suddenly on another route, now riding all out, full speed.

Which could only mean one thing.

"You found her?!" I shout at him over the wind.

"She's close!" he shouts back, and I catch him inhaling deeply, a smile coming on his face. "Very close."

I turn a bit in my seat and signal to Bonnie and Kol in the car behind us. I see Bonnie at the driver seat blink her lights in response.

I take a deep breath. Here we go...

We break 100 miles per hour, Klaus following a winding curve in neck breaking speed. When we get to the end of it, I see from a distance red hair flapping in the wind.

She glances back, sunglasses perched on top of her head, half of her hair pinned up by metal, decorative sticks.

She gives us a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.

"V," I whisper.

Klaus shifts gears right when V's shoots off.

An old school high speed chase.

Because it's the dead of night, the highway is mostly empty, giving us ample room to catch up. She notices it soon enough and finds her way to cut through illegally between some cars, trying to lose us.

But Klaus. He's just as good. I really need to ask him where he learned to ride.

She comes up behind two trucks that aren't nearly going as fast as us.

I smile triumphantly. "We got her!" I say. "She doesn't have anywhere to go."

V pulls out a phone, clearly pressing some buttons.

I hear a click, just as the two trucks come upon a short underpass.

I see red beams that come on.

I hear the beep that sounds when the trucks cross them.

I see when the trucks drive over what looks like manhole cover and out of the underpass, before the explosion hits.

"Oh God," I whisper.

One of the backs of the trucks is blown straight up, the driver's end still touching the ground while the other only has its right side hit, lifting off the ground.

There is fire, smoke and flame, and I barely make out V driving straight into it.

My mouth drops. She's crazy! She's absolutely looney tunes! She won't make it! She...

The two exploding trucks make a brief gap between them that is but a few feet above the ground. It's only seconds before the trucks start to tumble backward and begin to close the opening.

If she thinks she's going to make it through that...

Klaus smiles, pushing on the accelerator, full speed ahead after her.

"Okay no! Klaus!" I warn.

He leans forward, his smile widening.

"Klaus!" I shout, panicking, watching in awe as V leans herself and her bike just enough to slide through the gap in the ground.

"Holy shit!" I cry, not believing my eyes.

"When I say, lean back Caroline," says Klaus calmly. "And hold on to me."

This is not happening, this is not happening, thisisnothappening! my mind chants, going through a whirlwind of emotion.

Then there is nothing but Klaus' beautiful accented voice. Like a soothing balm, it mellows me out, relaxing me.

"Lean back love."

Without a thought, I hold on to him, our bodies aligning in unison as the bike tilts.

I feel the metal side of the truck brush my cheek, the hot flames licking my skin, before we are bursting out of the opening, free.

The exhilaration of the moment causes me to let out a relieved laugh that resounds throughout the empty highway.

"Oh my god! That was awesome! We actually made it! We actually..."

My smile fades when I see V's bike ahead do a sharp U turn from a distance and as she turns, she's grabbing two of the metal decorative sticks from her hair throwing it in our direction. There is a pop when it hits our gas tank. Because of the speed and the inferno we just went through, the tank instantly explodes.

Klaus and I launch forward, our bodies hitting the concrete hard.

The bike crashes into a highway divider on the left, burning up, as I try to get up.

I hear my ribs snapping back into place as I get to my feet, making out Klaus far ahead of me. I start to flash to him.

He turns wildly around, hearing me. "Caroline! No!"

I stop instantly, just as I hear the click.

I look down, and notice I'm on top of a manhole cover.

I see the red blinking light under it and I knew.

It's another bomb.

I look up to find Klaus closing his eyes briefly, cursing under his breath.

He then whirls at V who approaches us, but stops, still quite a ways away from Klaus especially. She is without a scratch, her killer leather bodysuit unscathed, the zipper low revealing her ample breasts...

And the gold, howling wolf medallion hanging on a gold chain around her neck.

She is really beautiful in person in her modern wear. Her red gold hair is loose now, her eyes looking on at me impassively.

"Oh dear." She looks at Klaus, shaking her head. "You really shouldn't have brought her along," she says flatly. "This was only to be between you and I. Now you've given me leverage. Bad form."

Klaus is furious. "You've really gone mad. Truly you have. You have no chance of living if Caroline dies!" he hisses.

"Hopefully it won't come down to killing her. I'd hate to kill one of my kind."

My eyes widen as does Klaus'. " 'One of our kind?' " I echo.

She tilts her head in my direction. "What we are is the reason we retain our light despite the dark magic that gives us a second chance to live on this plane Caroline," she explains. "What we are is what draws darkness to us, in your case, Niklaus to you. I envy you both. You have each other and I, " she lets out a breath, "Have nothing."

"No. That's not..." I start to say.

"Let me tell you both what is about to transpire," she says coldly, cutting me off. "Unlike the Salvatores who I lured to a basic vervain bomb in my shop, the manhole Caroline is standing on is a pressure plate that if she moves, will triggers the stake bomb I have embedded in the highway divider beside her."

I look slowly to my left, seeing the flashing red lights inside the divider and one of those has the stake bomb. Maybe if I can make out which red light leads to the machine activating the stake to kill me, I can stop it.

"Don't worry. You won't see the stake coming," V says, dashing my hopes. She pulls out her phone. "This phone is hotwired to it. One touch of my home button and she is gone."

Klaus growls, glaring at her angrily.

"And if you think you can somehow make it to Caroline before the Stake gets to her without knowing where it's coming from, I tell you now, you won't make it. You won't make it to me either before I pull the trigger." She takes a few more steps back, as if she wasn't far enough.

"Cute," Klaus says derisively.

"Now will you consider my request?" she asks. I see a flicker of emotion travel through her eyes before her face becomes a mask again. "Set me free. Even if the Dark Mistress takes my soul, it is better than this."

"Better than what?" I ask, feeling sorry for her. All this so she could die? How sad is she.

"Better than living without him," she says automatically.

Klaus stiffens and I just stare, not believing I was right.

"I knew it," I whisper, recovering from my momentary shock. "This is all about Klaus' dad for you!"

V swallows hard and we see her fight to keep her humanity switch off, shaking her head. "He wasn't supposed to matter," she says more to herself than us. "He wasn't the first Allvaldr I watch die, but it was always of old age or of their own stupidity not because I," she puts a hand on her chest, "FAILED! Millennium after millennium I've put to rest a fair share of his kin but putting his body on that funeral pyre..."

She can't finish, shaking her her head remorsefully and raising her eyes to look at Klaus. "And you. Seeing you always reminds me of him, especially your eyes. I am done seeing him everywhere, in my sleep or with my waking eyes, knowing he is not there. I am done with him haunting me. I am finished, so..."

She looks at Klaus and he almost looks sad for her. "Set me free."

I see the turmoil in Klaus' face, seeing when he makes his decision.

"How do you want it done love?" he asks finally.

A bright, genuine smile breaks through her face. "In the divider next to you, there is a gun. I think you know how to shoot one. It is in the lowest hole," she says as Klaus walks to it, bends down and pulls it out of one of the holes.

He opens the chamber, shaking his head. "Wooden bullets. You really planned this out, didn't you?"

"Niklaus. This is a win win for the both of us," V says. "I finally pass on and you become truly invincible for I will not longer be here, the only thing that can kill you. No one can touch you."

I just watch. Having no words to even say as he raises the gun at her. What do you do when someone wants to die that bad?

Klaus clicks off the safety, a smirk gracing his lips.

"Thank you...for helping me," he says.

My eyes water, knowing he was talking about her releasing him from the Hunter's curse.

She smiles in return. "You are welcome...my Allvaldr."

"Requiescat in pace, V," he says solemnly.

Her eyes shut, waiting for the bullet.

But instead, I hear a loud crash behind me. I turn to see the trucks that were blocking the underpass moved to the side to reveal Bonnie and Kol. In the midst of their entrance, V gets distracted and Klaus doesn't wait a second to pounce on her.

Kol comes to my side, but I manage to stop him. "No Kol! Stay where you are! It'll trigger a bomb!" I warn him hurriedly.

Kol steps back with Bonnie running up beside him as our attention goes on the two fighting hybrids.

I notice V's phone on the ground. The bomb trigger!

Kol must of saw my look because he flashes to it, grabbing it and crushing the phone in his hand.

I look down to see the red light under the manhole shut off. I hesitantly take a step off and breath a sigh of relief when nothing happens.

Just then, V kicks Klaus off her. She moves towards him, but Bonnie raises her hand, chanting.

V looks at Bonnie with a bored look on her face. "I am sorry dear," she says, standing up straight as Bonnie continues her chanting. "I am immune to magic. You cannot hurt me."

Bonnie stops, letting her hand drop. "I wasn't trying to," she says.

"Oh my god," I breathe, seeing what Bonnie's magic did. That can't be who I think it is.

"Welcome to the party mate," murmurs Kol happily.

Klaus moves to his feet, his face pale and stunned, his eyes transfixed on the figure behind V, utterly speechless.

V herself is reading our expressions in confusion, until the man behind her speaks, his deep voice piercing through the air, drenched in disbelief.

"V?"

She spins around, her face the picture of astonishment, her mouth parted in awe.

"Manning..."

And we all watch as he looks past her, his face a kaleidoscope of emotion as his eyes land on Klaus.

"My son..." he says.

*A/N Next chapter will be up by Wednesday and will tie up some loose ends.

So, what did you guys think? Any comments or predictions? Please let me know through a fabulous review. Till next time!

**Answer to Guest reviews:

Bluesky - I'm glad you like V. I won't do anymore Manning centric chapters unless people request it. It was more for character development purposes if anything. I think I answered your concern about Stefan and Damon this chapter. They got a little bruised up, but nothing major. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
