I feel some how exhausted as I fly back home after telling Lana my secret, maybe its because I was full of kryptonite a few hours ago. Now the danger is temporarily left, its made me fell the full impact of the day. I land by the barn, quickly getting in to clothes and decide to sit on the front steps, I need a moment alone. Lana did not take the news that Im superman very well, I think she will forgive me but its hard at the moment. Lois must have heard me, I sense she's coming to join me with two glasses of wine.
"Hey",
"Hey", i reply. She knows me so well, she slowly gets a worried look on her face as we gaze at each other.
"How'd it go with Lana?" questions Lois.
"About as well as can be expected I think, she's upset about me lying to her all these years, but I think shell come around, she just needs some time", I say. Lois seems to be seeing through my optimism, "Yes from memory it took me some time to come to terms with it too. What else is going on in that head of yours? you look shattered", Lois replies.
I sigh deeply, I cant hide anything from her. Eventually I reply, "I was full of kryptonite not that long ago, caught some in an explosion saving Lana, then bizarro Jonathan stabbed me with it too, Lana had to pull it all out." I turned back to look at Lois, watched the worry and sadness creep in to her eyes.
"Oh babe, no wonder you look exhausted, we should get you to bed, have a rest until the sun comes up, then we can recharge in the sun". I sigh, I think she's right. I drain whats left of my wine glass and attempt to gather the energy to stand up. Lois notices and stays close just incase I stumble. I feel a bit dizzy and a lot more tired when I stand, Its almost like i have a human blood pressure that just bottomed out. Lois grabbed my arm and steadied me while we shuffled in to the house. The boys were playing video games in their room thankfully, so I don't have to pretend Im fine in front of them. Before I know it Lois has got me to the bathroom and is trying to take of my shirt. I slowly cotton on to what she is doing and help undress myself. Lois looked a little shocked to see small bruises all over my abdomen and chest, they are almost gone but seeing them I think made it more real and scary for Lois. We enjoy a nice shower together and cuddle up in bed. Im being the little spoon as I hear Lois mumbling something to me, but Im already falling asleep.
The next day I wake and I see bright sunshine streaming through the curtains, glancing at the bedside clock, I'm shocked to realise its 11 o'clock in the morning. I listen in to the rest of the house, I can hear my family in the lounge. I wander on downstairs happy to have a bit more energy. The family were all on their phones, "Lets go sit outside guys" I say as I head out the front door.
I sit on the grass enjoying the sunlight as they all join me.
"Are you okay Dad?" says Jonathan tentatively. Lois must've told them some of what happened the previous day. "Yea I'm okay, Bit tired still but Ill be good as new soon" I replied with a smile.
Jonathan looked a bit relieved, " we were a bit worried about you Dad".
" thanks guys, I always do my best to come back to you in one piece okay, sometimes things go a bit sideways"
"you can say that again ha" Lois snorted.
We sat outside enjoying the sun and each others company for two hours before I felt back to full strength. I hear some car tyres approaching us, Its Lana coming to visit. At the same time I hear the countdown of a bomb and screams at LAX. "Duty calls" I say to the family before I rush off.
