Christina
Floating in the remains of the bridge of the Ptolemaios, Christina smiled bitterly. They boy she had ignored on the bridge, who she took for granted, had died in her arms, thinking that he had saved her life. 'I'm sorry Lichty, I wish I could say you saved me. I was such a silly girl who ignored your feelings.' She gritted her teeth at the pain rushing through her, a large piece of shrapnel piercing her side. She had finally found a guy she liked and it happened right before his death. 'And here I was saying Feldt and Setsuna were ridiculous for not seeing each other's feelings.' She chuckled bitterly, each breath hurting. 'At least Lichty died thinking he protected me. If I had realized earlier…' She shook her head at that. It was pointless to think that way. Christina knew that she wasn't going make it.
A few tears fell down her face as all of her memories of Lichty ran through her mind, in particular when he took her shift on the bridge when Feldt said she was sick. 'I even said I wasn't into him. How blind could I have been?' Unfortunately for her, she didn't know how much time she would have. There were so many things she wanted to see. She wanted to visit the beach again, to see a movie in the movie theater. She wanted to see Feldt and Setsuna together, Feldt in a beautiful wedding dress. Maybe even their kids. 'Auntie Christina would have had such a nice ring to it.' She wished she could have seen her mom again in a better world created by the Gundams. 'I ran away and I can't imagine how my mom is feeling. She would be terrified to learn I became a terrorist.' More tears ran down her cheeks. 'I'm so sorry mom. I wish I had stayed. I wish I had sent you a message. I wished I could have said one last thing to the crew. To you.'
Suddenly her communicator crackled to life, Ms. Sumeragi's voice cutting through the static. She closed her eyes, feeling her life slipping away. Before she died, she needed to tell Feldt to not make the same mistakes that she did, to have a happier life than she did. The static cleared a bit and Christina responded, knowing what she needed to say.
Feldt
Feldt stood in the GN arms, knuckles white from how tight her grip was on the back of Sumeragi's chair. The attack had turned south for them so fast and when Christina had said to go check on the Dynames, she didn't think to question it that much. By the time she had arrived and the door had closed behind her, she realized Christina had lied to her. 'Why would she do that? They need me up there.'
Her mind had then shut down for a few seconds when one of the mobile suits flew past the pod and reached the bridge. 'Christina! Lichty!' They were her friends and they were helpless in the face of the enemies. All of the Gundams were engaging or too far away to help. Feldt held her breath, hoping the assault pod would get the mobile suit, but then the bridge exploded and Feldt could feel tears coming down her face. She could hear Ian call out angrily and Ms. Sumeragi call out in worry and fear, but all Feldt could feel was despair. 'Please! Not them! I can't lose anyone else!'
Sumeragi called out through the comms, speaking desperately, "Christina come in! Lichty!" Feldt could hear her continue to call out their names and she desperately hoped they survived. 'Maybe they're only injured! We can fix them back at a base! We don't need to lose anyone else!'
Her hope rose when Christina's voice came weakly through the static, much weaker than she ever spoke before, "Ms. Sumeragi." Feldt smiled at this, happy she was alive. They just needed to get to her, and everything would be ok.
Ms. Sumeragi spoke out hopefully, "Thank heavens you're alive! Is Lichty alright?" Feldt was hopeful for a second, but Christina's silence told the answer. 'Why is this happening to us? How did it all come crumbling down?'
Christina spoke up after her silence, her tone pleading, "Feldt? Are you there?"
Feldt called out desperately, "I'm here!"
Christina's voice was disturbingly calm, "I'd like you to try harder…to stay in fashion."
Confusion laced Feldt's voice, "Why are you saying this?" 'We are going to rescue her. We can talk about this this later. She's acting like she's…' The dots began to connect and it started to dawn on her what was going on. A few tears fell down her cheek. 'No! Please no!'
"And you have to live for Lockon…For Setsuna. And please, tell him how you feel…don't be a silly girl…like me!" The pink-haired girl heard a rough cough as Christina's voice weakened even more, "Please change this world. Change it. Please!" Suddenly explosions rocked the Ptolemaios in the distance and Feldt could feel a part of herself breaking. The girl that had took her under her wing, who had been there for her when she needed it like an older sister, who helped her realize her feelings for Setsuna was gone. Feldt let out a cry at the sight, tears coming down her face. 'Why did it have to happen like this?! Why are we being punished?! Christina didn't deserve that!'
Feldt let go of Sumeragi's chair in despair, mindlessly floating in the cabin. Her heart had taken so many hits, so may losses she didn't know what to do. Her heart had been slowly recovering with the help of Setsuna, but the losses of Lichty, Christina, Lockon, and Doctor Moreno had ripped it open again. 'She saved my life. She could have gone to the pod herself but she saved my life. Why? Why?' Feldt began to sob silently, finally resting against the back wall of the cabin. Everything had gone wrong and they didn't even know how Allelujah and Tieria were doing. The last time she had checked, neither had been doing well.
The only person that may be doing well is…Setsuna. Setsuna had launched with Lasse to attack that large gold mobile armor and they had gotten further from the battlefield. And now they were too far away to contact. 'Please, please come back. I need you. I need something to fall back on.' Setsuna was a rock she could fall back on and the most important piece of her heart right now. Especially after that kiss they shared. She had opened up her heart to him and she didn't want to lose that. She didn't care if the thought was selfish. Right now, the only thing going through her mind and heart was the people she was losing. The crew was her family and most of them were now dead, only Ian and Sumeragi were safe for sure. She looked at the scarf wrapped around her arm.
She suddenly felt arms wrap around her, and Sumeragi pulled her in tight, tears streaming from her eyes and sobs choking out of her throat. Feldt wrapped her arms around Sumeragi, desperately grasping for any kind of support. She didn't know how long it would take to get over this, but right now she couldn't think of that. All she could feel was hurt, despair and loss. Even though she had promised to survive, it was not easy to hold to that. She hoped Christina wouldn't be disappointed in her acting like this. 'Please Setsuna. Please come back like you promised. I don't know if I could survive losing you.'
Setsuna
Setsuna slowly opened his eyes, body aching in the seat of the Exia. The cockpit was open and he could see warning flashes in his peripheral vision. 'How long have I been out?' The clock in the Gundam showed it had been about ten minutes since his fight with that Flag fighter who had kept harassing him. Closing the cockpit door, he could see the Exia was heavily damaged, but still functional. Though the thrusters weren't responding to him at the moment, leaving him lying helplessly. He had half expected the suit to be moving, but it appeared he had landed against a large asteroid, slowing him down significantly.
His mind suddenly snapped into focus, realizing his predicament. He was a long distance away from the battlefield. A long distance away from all of his comrades. 'A long distance away from Feldt.' He sat back helplessly in his seat, emotions washing over him. He had no idea how everyone was doing or how well they had done. He had seen Lasse escape from the GN arms at the last minute, so at least he was safe. 'Please everyone be alive! We can't die yet!' His battle with the golden suit had drawn him further and further from the battlefield and the fight with the Flag had distracted him even more.
While many thoughts rushed through his mind, the main one was how he was breaking his promise to Feldt. He had promised he would come back, to be there for her. He needed her after this, and she needed him. He tried to push the Exia forward, the machine refusing to move, "Come on Exia! Move! I need to get back! I made a promise!" The machine remained silent, still refusing to move. He tried the comms and they didn't respond. Tears came to Setsuna's eyes. He had opened his heart to the girl and he hated disappointing her. 'Should I have ignored the Flag? Rushed back to the Ptolemaios to help them?' Maybe then he wouldn't be stuck floating in space with a disabled Gundam. The fact he couldn't move led him to think, to reflect.
The memory of the kiss bounced around his mind. When they had reached the Dynames, Setsuna knew he had to tell her how he felt. Yet the words refused to come to his mind. Nothing sounded right, which had frustrated him. So he decided to show her how he felt if his words wouldn't suffice. The kiss had felt so right, his heart racing and the happiness in his chest growing. And the fact she liked him back was a happy revelation. He didn't know what the future would be at that point, but he wanted her to be a part of it. He wished they had more time to discuss the kiss at that moment, but the battle had interrupted it and now he was here, unable to get back or do anything. He had hated the idea of having to fight far away from the ship, but he was the best counter to the large golden mobile armor and mobile suit. 'I wanted to stay close to the ship, but if I hadn't, everyone would be dead.'
The firepower of the mobile armor had been devastating, so it needed to be destroyed. And that had led to this current situation. 'I'm so sorry Feldt. I'm sorry everyone. I hope you can forgive me.' He could feel the asteroid he was against moving away from the battlefield, only making it worse. He wished he had realized his feelings sooner and told Feldt how he felt. They would have had more time, the kiss becoming a bit bittersweet in context. One taste of happiness in a sea of loss and despair in his life and now he might lose even this new light to that dark sea. Feldt had been a bright light in his life, filling a hole in his heart that he didn't realize he needed. 'I had been alone so long I didn't know what true happiness felt like.' She had opened his heart up, giving him something else to live for, to look forward to in the future. It was so new to him, yet it felt right.
Before he had only focused on changing the world, to stop war and conflict. That left little time for personal goals or imagining what would happen if they ever fully succeeded. It was a daunting feeling and something he had resisted for so long. He looked down at the console in the cockpit, frowning. 'Maybe I shouldn't have thought about it. Look at what happened.' Life had constantly thrown its worst at him and when it got good for him, it always seemed to want to shove him down to the ground again and again.
'No! No! I can't give up yet!' He pushed his controls forward, begging the machine, "Please Gundam! I need to survive! I need to get back to her!" As if responding to his call, the machine lit up, launching off of the asteroid he was on. With a determined look, he rushed forward, hoping that everything had gone well. 'Just hold on everyone. I'll be back there soon!'
Feldt
With the battle having ended, Sumeragi, Ian and Feldt had located and found the Nadleeh, Tieria and its drive. Tieria was currently resting in the cabin, unconscious. The Nadleeh was awkwardly put on top of the Dynames, the hanger a tighter squeeze than before, but at the moment they didn't have a ton of options. Feldt had taken up the position at the sensors and unfortunately had been unable to find either the Kyrios or Exia. 'Allelujah, Setsuna, where are you?'
She had calmed down a bit since the death of Christina and Lichty, knowing Ian and Sumeragi needed her functional. Her control of her emotions wasn't at its normal level, but what she had now worked. As she kept scanning, she suddenly felt the GN arms turn away from the battlefield, causing Feldt to look up at Sumeragi in concern, "Ms. Sumeragi, we haven't found Setsuna or-"
The woman's voice was tense and full of emotion as she responded, "Feldt, we don't know when they will get back. We have to retreat."
Tears pricked Feldt's eyes, "But we can't abandon them! They are out there alone!" They were their comrades and it felt wrong to just abandon them. And Feldt desperately wanted to find Setsuna. She needed the boy she liked to comfort her, someone to talk to about what had happened. 'I just told him my feelings and now I have to be alone again?'
Sumeragi blinked back tears, her voice cracking, "I know! But I can't risk losing anyone else! Not now." She turned away from Feldt, her voice softening, "Please understand. I don't want to. But right now, we don't have a lot of options." Feldt could feel the heartbreak from Sumeragi just from how she spoke, guessing she turned away because she was trying to hide her own tears.
Ian spoke up reluctantly, "Feldt, I know how you feel. I feel the same. But we need to reassess and we don't have a lot of defenses. We don't know how many more suits with pseudo-GN drives they have and we can't take any risks."
Feldt reluctantly nodded, her voice hollow, "Just one more pass? One more?"
Sumeragi replied quietly, "Ok." Feldt's heart sunk as they took one more pass and she couldn't locate anything, not even the solar reactor of either. Tears silently streamed down her face as the GN arms left the battlefield. She looked down at her lap, gripping her legs so hard her knuckles turned white. 'I'm sorry Setsuna. I'm sorry we abandoned you. I'll find you and bring you back, no matter how long it takes. Just please hold on!'
Setsuna
Setsuna could see the battlefield approaching. His long range scanners weren't operating at one hundred percent, but they gave him enough of a picture to see where he was going. The battle had seemingly died down, no more GN particles blasts going back and forth. 'Please don't be too late!' He had no idea who had won or lost, so he was charging in, not knowing what he was going to face. 'That is probably a bad idea. Think first. Feldt wouldn't want me to get killed stupidly.'
Taking a deep breath, he slowed down, taking a more cautious approach. Approaching a large asteroid, her flew around it, staying out of sight of any potential enemies. He finally got a good look at the scene and it chilled him to the bone. The Ptolemy rested against an asteroid, it's bridge blown wide open and holes all throughout its hull. His cautious approach was abandoned, as he saw no enemies or red particles trails around. Only one thought rushed through his head at the sight as he flew towards the Ptolemy. 'Feldt!'
