"Hey, Broseph." Mabel bounced in her seat on the Speedy Beaver bus. "Think the Grunkles have anything special planned for the end of the summer?"
"No." Dipper shrugged, chewing on his pen as he stared at the stack of papers in front of him. "Not anymore than last year."
Waddles, who was sitting next to Mabel, started chewing on Dipper's jacket.
"Come on Dipper! Think!" Mabel grinned. "Our 18th birthday is at the end of the summer!"
It was true; The twins had grown a lot since that first summer in Gravity Falls. They were on the verge of adulthood.
"Oh, gosh…" Dipper's eyes widened. "That's this summer, isn't it?"
He cleared his throat.
"Not gonna worry about it though…" Dipper chuckled. "Just gonna have a nice relaxing summer."
"Stressed." Mabel pretended to cough.
"No, I'm not!" Dipper elbowed her. "Now let me get back to these college applications!"
For a while, the only sounds were the jostling of the bus and the scratching of Dipper's pen against paper.
"Dipper…" Mabel said. "Sometimes it feels like-"
Mabel sighed.
"Nevermind…" Mabel gazed at the ground.
The bus rattled along for a while longer, until The Mystery Shack came into view- and along with it the grunkles staring, bewildered, at a taxi.
