Hello! I know it's been quite awhile since I've posted or updated anything but I have a bunch of ongoing stories I would love to share with you guys! This is A Mystic Falls Rewrite, but the original story is still up if you want to take a look at it.
Apart from this story I'm going to start posting a lot of the things I've been working on over the past couple years. Anyways, let's get to it! (As always I would love to hear any feedback or suggestions you all have!)
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters, I am just a fan who enjoys writing fics and would love to share them with you all!
Chapter 1:
Moving to a new place is never really fun, especially when you have no desire to be here. I loved Colorado, the mountains, the dry-non-humid air. I loved my friends, and family there, and I didn't even mind school. So of course my senior year my Dad had decided to move us to a small town in the middle of Virginia. Mystic Falls, to be exact, where the air is humid, the land is flat, and I know absolutely no one. My mom had passed a couple years ago and I think he was hoping to give us all a new start in a new place, regardless if that was the exact opposite of what I wanted.
I sighed, staring at my reflection in the mirror, I'd thrown on my favorite pair of high rise shorts, a maroon cropped tank, and completed the look with the first flannel I'd unpacked. My long dark hair was tied up in a messy bun and I had found my combat boots in the box by my bed. Honestly, I hadn't even begun to unpack, despite being here almost a week already. I hadn't really done anything, except talk to the friends I'd never see again back home. I already missed them like crazy. I swiped mascara under my lashes and a glossy lip balm over my lips and called it good. I took a deep breath, today was going to be hell.
I pulled into the parking lot of Mystic Falls High, already getting curious looks from the other students. I had a feeling this was the type of town where everyone knew everyone, great, I'll be even more alone. I half waved as I passed my brother, already making friends and he's been here for less than fifteen minutes. He'd always had a way with people, and loved attention. I sighed again, pulling into a parking space in the labeled senior lot. Taking a deep breath I grabbed my backpack, locked my car, and maneuvered my way to the front office.
"Hi honey, what can I do for you?" The lady at the front desk asked as I walked through the door.
"Hi, I'm new. My brother and I just moved here. I was wondering if I could grab my schedule?" I asked, not unkindly. She nodded.
"Of course! You must be Elena, your brother was just in here a few minutes ago." She smiled, sifting through the stack of papers in front of her. She seemed to find what she was looking for and handed them to me.
"Here you go dear. Your schedule, locker assignment, and a map of the school!" She said, a kind smile still on her face.
"Thanks." I replied, but the women had already turned to one of the boys talking nearby.
"Stefan, would you mind showing Miss Gilbert around today? She's new from Colorado!" Stefan nodded and walked over.
"I'd love to." He replied with a smile, I wasn't quite sure if he was mocking me.
"Come on, we'd better hurry if we're going to be on time." He motioned out into the courtyard, holding the door for me. "You have history with Mr. Saltsman first, correct?"I nodded.
"Yeah, room 1008." I replied. He nodded.
"It's just up here to the left." He said, increasing his speed. "So Colorado, huh? What made you decide to move out here?" He asked, seemingly genuinely curious. I shrugged.
"My dad wanted us to have a new start after my mom's passing and I guess work gave him the opportunity to move out here and he took it." I shifted my backpack to my other shoulder.
"You don't exactly seem thrilled to be here." He chuckled as we turned the corner.
"I'm not, moving your senior year to a place where you have no friends sucks." I replied honestly. He nodded.
"Well you have one friend now." He smiled, I laughed at his cheeky grin.
"Well thank you." I replied with a smile, the first genuine one all morning.
"Of course, who wouldn't want the hot new mystery girl to be their friend?" I would have taken offense was it not for the amusement that danced in his eyes and the friendly elbow he threw my way.
"Ah, here we are Madame." He sketched a little bow as we indeed arrived outside room 1008.
"Thank you." I laughed, he nodded.
"See you after class, Elena." The teasing way he said my name reminded me of my friends back home. With a wink he was gone, heading back down the hall, leaving me to face class alone. I took a deep breath and stepped into the room, my eyes landing on an empty desk in the back, to which I hurried towards, taking a seat just as the bell rang.
"Welcome back students! I hope you all had an awesome, responsible summer," There were some chuckles at that, "As many of you already know, my name is Mr. Saltsman and this year you are taking American History. We will be delving deep into the history of our town specifically, as well as the founding of our country and then a look into some of the old folk tales that inspired many of our legends today. Now, I know it's just the first day and none of you are actually going to pay attention, but we are going to dive in right away. Test on this material will be at the end of the week, so don't pay attention at our own peril." The class groaned, pulling out textbooks and flipped to the pages Mr. Saltsman wrote on the board.
"Psst." I fend a tap on my shoulder and quickly turned to find a girl around my age with dark wavy hair and piercing amber eyes giving me a little wave.
"Hey, I'm Bonnie, You must be new, I've never seen you here before." She whispered.
"Yeah, I'm Elena and I just moved to town." I whispered back with a small smile.
"Welcome to Mystic Falls! The most boring town ever," She rolled her eyes as I laughed softly, "I'm serious though, nothing bad like ever happens here." I was about to reply when:
"Miss Bennet, Miss Gilbert, I hope we aren't disturbing you." Mr Saltsman spoke in a disapproving tone.
"Sorry Mr. S. I was just showing Elena here what page we're on." Bonnie spoke up quickly, ignoring the snickers from the other students.
"It's true, this is my first day and I was just a bit confused. Sorry for interrupting class." I sent him my most innocent smile. Mr. Saltsman just shook his head, but his eyes danced in amusement.
"Don't let it happen again." Was his only reply as he continued with the lesson. I looked back at Bonnie to find her smiling. She sent me a little wink and then turned to focus on what Mr. Saltsman was saying. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad.
The bell rang, signaling the end of class and I hurried out the door to find Stefan casually leaning against the lockers waiting for me.
"Hey!" I said, walking over to him, "Did you make it to class on time?"
"Yeah, why?" He looked a bit confused.
"The bell rang just as I stepped into class." I pointed out.
"Oh, my class is just up the hall." He said, nodding in the direction he'd disappeared this morning. I spotted Bonnie and waved. She smiled and started over until she saw who was at my side and just hurried past. I glanced up at him to find his brows furrowed. Shrugging it off I asked him if we could head to my next class.
The rest of the day seemed to fly by. I met Caroline in chem, apparently Stefan's girlfriend and Bonnie's best friend. She seemed sweet and invited me to sit with them at lunch, where I met Tyler, Matt, Vicky, and April. Weirdly Bonnie was not with them. They all seemed nice enough and were fairly welcoming, but I couldn't help but feel a bit outcased. These people had known each other their whole lives and they'd just met me today.
As the weeks passed I started feeling more and more a part of their group, not so homesick for a place I no longer belonged to, and people who wouldn't remember me in a couple years. Stefan became my best friend, Bonnie and Caroline not far behind. I didn't like Vicky that much, and found Matt annoying but I tolerated them anyways. April was two years below us and with her strict parents was not able to come out with us as often. Tyler on the other hand, being hot and a football star, I couldn't seem to stay away from him.
It was about a month after we'd met that he asked me to be his girlfriend, in front of all our friends and it was honestly really cute. Obviously I said yes, you had to be crazy not to. That was about a month ago, and things had been really good since.
The next chapter is where it really starts to get interesting and a certain favorite vamp shows up! Stay tuned! ;)
