Ok so I decided to take this a different direction than the original story, I just feel like it makes a bit more sense and fits better in the overall plot. I know I'm taking forever to build the Damon/Elena romance, but I promise it's worth the wait! There's more cute fluff in this chapter and it's definitely building to something! Hehe :)
Chapter 5:
"Hey babes!" Care greeted as she opened the door inviting me inside, "Damon told me you were coming. Are you ok?" She pulled me into a hug, her best friend senses picking up something was wrong.
"I'm ok, just a bit shaken. I invited Bonnie over, I was thinking we could do a girls night?" I smiled at her, changing the focus of the conversation. Her face seemed to fall.
"Bonnie doesn't really hang around here anymore." She replied sadly.
"Oh, well I called her and she said she'd be over once she was done with her Grams." I replied, my voice clearly confused. Caroline's entire face lit up.
"Really?" She seemed so happy and it made me wonder if something happened between them. I nodded in confirmation and her grin widened.
"Oh my gosh yay! Ahh it will be just like old times! The three of us!" She smiled, "Come on! Help me get some snacks out!"
Bonnie arrived about an hour later, I had to be right about there being some weird fight or something between them because it took another hour before things weren't awkward between them. We spent the rest of the day just chatting and doing face masks, painting our nails, and watching the classic chick flicks.
Caroline jumped onto the table, striking a horrible pose that had Bonnie and I rolling on the floor with laughter. A couple hours earlier we'd raided her mom's liquor stash and we were all well on our way to totally wasted.
"Come on ladies! Join me up here! Let's dance!" Care exclaimed as she turned on some music. I jumped up laughing and pulled Bon up behind me.
"Ahh to us girls!" Care shouted, raising the half empty bottle of tequila into the air and then taking a lengthy swig. We all giggled, passing the bottle around. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Caroline smirked sheepishly.
"I'll get it!" Bonnie jumped up and opened the door. Ty, Matt, Vik, April, Anna, Jer and a bunch of other people I didn't know stood there, packs of beer in hand.
"Caroline!" I exclaimed, "I thought we said girls night!" Care just laughed with a shrug as everyone filled her house and then spilled into the backyard. So that's why she'd spent a good ten minutes furiously typing away at her phone an hour ago.
"My mom's out of town, the three of us are back together, and so I thought, party! Plus it's the only day all the boys have off." She grinned, grabbing my hand and leading us back into the living room. Soon the house was filled with nursing music and drunken laughter. Ty and I were over in the corner, fully making out when Caroline came and dragged me away.
"Come on! Dance circle!" She exclaimed, grabbing Bonnie away from where she was talking with my brother. Soon she'd gathered all of us and we lost ourselves in the music, laughing and happy. I'd forgotten all of my worries, my body warm and fuzzy.
"This was a brilliant idea, Care." Mat slurred over the music as he swayed in time to the beat.
"I know!" She sang with a little twirl causing all of us to laugh. I took another gulp of my beer when my phone rang.
"Hello?" I giggled.
"Elena?" A sexy voice asked from the other end, it sounded familiar but I couldn't quite place it.
"Huh? I can't hear you! One sec!" I slurred, wiggling my way out of the crowded house and outside into the fresh air, "Oki, what's up?" I hiccuped.
"Are you drunk?" The voice did not sound happy.
"What? Pfft, no." I paused for a moment, "I would say I'm slightly buzzed." I singled again with a little hiccup.
"Lena huh, where are you?" He asked.
"Carolines!" I sang happily, then took a deep breath suddenly feeling heavy and light headed.
"I'm tired," I mumbled, "I need to go lay down." I tried to take a step but was dragged into darkness.
POV SWITCH: DAMON
"I'm tired," I heard her mumble, "I need to go lay down." Her voice sounded distant, groggy.
"Lena? Are you there?" If she had dozed off I would have heard her fall. All I heard was muffled breathing and the rustle of fabric.
"Elena?" I tried again, "Elena, are you stil-?" The line disconnected. Something was wrong, I could feel it in my gut. I growled, if someone so much as harmed one hair on her pretty little head I'd end them. Painfully.
I hurried out the door, not bothering to grab anything or take my car. I'd be faster without it.
I was at Caroline's within five minutes and scanned the area looking for the drunk brunette. My eyes honed in on a slightly growling light about a yard away. Elena's phone.
I reached down and pocketed her phone, assessing the area for any signs of a struggle. The wind shifted, carrying a sweet, irony scent from the surrounding forest. Blood. I growled, breaking a branch in two to form a good stake and shot off into the trees. I followed her scent until I reached a clearing. Elena was propped up in between three vampires who all had their fangs deep in her perfect skin. I growled, throwing a stake at the nearest one with just enough force that it pierced her heart, but did not hurt Elena. The two males growled, dropping her to the ground as their fallen friend decicated.
"Damon Salvatore, we heard you claimed these parts. Too bad you're outnumbered." The one on the left smirked, that was Elena's blood glistening in his teeth and dribbling down his throat. I didn't even wait to attack nor bother being cordial. In two quick seconds I had their necks snapped and started through their hearts.
"Outnumbered my ass." I sneered, gently picking up an unconscious Elena. Her wounds were still raw and bleeding. I held her to my chest as I ran as smoothly as possible. We were home in less than two minutes, and I vamped up to my room, setting her gently in my tub. Her hair was matted with blood, my shirt stained and well, most of her was covered in blood. Her pulse was weak, but still there. I ripped into my own wrist, pressing it to her lips as my blood flowed into her mouth. I couldn't lose her. Once I decided she'd ingested enough I gently stripped her of her clothing, running the warm bath water and proceeding to wash her gorgeous curves. I worked quickly and gently, ignoring the agonizing tent in my pants, begging for attention. I adjusted my pants, gently toweling her off and I slid one of my shirts over her slim, attractive physique. I picked her up, tucking her softly into my bed as I realized how gross I was. My shirt was stained with blood, hers and my own, and my face was a mess. I quickly showered and dressed, before heading back to check on Elena. I smoothed the hair from her eyes and pressed a sweet kiss to her forehead. I turned to go but a hand jutted out, catching my own. I turned to see her beautiful eyes trained on mine.
"Stay." Her parted lips whispered, her voice almost pleading. I nodded, receiving one of her lovely smiles. I headed over to my side of the bed, dropping my shirt on the ground. I debated removing my jeans as well, but I had no desire to make her uncomfortable, especially not with the night she'd just had. I climbed under my comforter, smiling at her small frame, back still to me. It took all my restraint not to pull her into me. I rolled over so our backs were facing and willed myself to fall asleep.
Just as I was drifting off I felt the bed shift and those delicious lips press a light kiss to my cheek.
"Thank you, Damon." She whispered, before rolling back over and we both drifted off to sleep.
The next morning I awoke to a beautiful sleep Elena in my bed and immediately remembered last night. I'd been so worried about making sure she was ok, that I hadn't exactly been discrete, I'd just left those vampires there to rot behind Caroline's house. True she wouldn't be too alarmed, but I still needed to dispose of the bodies. I quickly and quietly got dressed, wrote Elena a note, and vamped back to Blondie's house.
POV SWITCH: ELENA
I rolled over, slowly waking to realize the other half of the bed was empty.
"Damon?" I called, scanning the room. No answer. I groaned, padding into the bathroom to relieve myself and noticed a note as I washed my hands.
Good morning sleepyhead! I had to run out, I'll be back later. Feel free to snoop around, none of the doors are locked. ;)
-Damon
I laughed at the little winky face he'd drawn, complete with fangs. I honestly had no desire to do anymore snooping and his cloud bed, that's what I'm calling it now, was just begging me to return. In one fluid motion I belly-flopped into his bed and curled back up under the covers.
"Elena, really? You're still asleep?" Damon whacked me with a spare pillow, waking me from my dreams that totally did not have anything to do with him.
"Ugh, Damon, go away!" I groaned, pulling the comforter over my head.
"Elena it's almost noon, get your ass out of bed!" His voice was fake stern, clearly holding elements of amusement.
"Must we go through this again? I thought you learned your lesson yesterday." He continued when I didn't answer. I could hear the smirk in his voice.
"I'm up!" I exclaimed, voice still thick with sleep even as I sat up and took in the man beside me. He looked really damn good today, I guess if I admit it, he looked really damn good everyday. He tossed me a pair of clothes from my now opened suitcase.
"Picked out your outfit." He shrugged with a smirk as inspected his choice. He had found my black lacy thong and paired it with my dark lacy criss cross bra. He'd also chosen a pair of small high waisted jean shorts, along with a small black tank and my maroon leather jacket. I laughed, it wasn't too far off from what I would have picked, at least he had style. I stood up, dropping his shirt from my body watching his eyes darken in lust as my now exposed figure.
"Ele-" He began, but I cut him off.
"What?" I asked innocently, "It's not like it's anything you haven't seen before." I smirked as he drank me in and his pants became evident of just how much he loved the view. Some part of me reveled in this, in his reaction as I slid my thong up my legs agonizingly slow, and took forever to clasp my bra. I laughed in delight as he grew impatient, pulling on my shorts and shirt with that vamp speed of his, leaving me breathless and ruining my little scheme to tease him.
"You do have a boyfriend, Elena." He reminded me, still standing too close.
"Since when has that mattered?" I replied, surprised at how husky my voice sounded, even to me.
"I can't be selfish with you." Was his only reply as he stepped away and exited the room. I immediately missed his presence, gods I was in so much shit.
Now Elena knows about the existence of vampires, and the fact that two of her favorite people happen to be vampires. With growing feelings for her best friend's brother, and a boyfriend who has a secret of his own, what could possibly go wrong? Not to mention, why were Caroline and Bonnie fighting? Why does Bonnie avoid the Salvatores and what other secrets could they be hiding? Find out in the next few chapters!!
