That Saturday, Jase had gone to meet Quinn on the private beach.
"Hey, why did you ask me to meet you down here?" he asked while heading down the small path that led to the sand.
"There's something I have to tell you, and I don't want to chance anyone else overhearing us," said Quinn who was unusually nervous.
"Wh… what is it?" asked Jase.
"I didn't just find you washed up here like I said the other day," said Quinn.
"I actually fished you out of the water because I was there when you were thrown from the boat," she said.
"That makes even less sense than me washing up here, Quinn!" said Jase.
"We were miles from shore, and I know that there were no other boats in the area so why are you lying to me?!" he asked.
"I didn't need a boat," said Quinn before stepping back into the waves.
"What the," said a shocked Jase as he watched the girl turn into a mermaid right before him.
"I know you're probably confused, but I can explain," said Quinn before Jase turned and ran back up the path.
"Damn it," said Quinn under her breath as she punched the sand. Suddenly, she heard the sound of someone walking to her, and when she looked up Quinn noticed that it was Jase coming back.
"Sorry about that, I was just so shocked that I needed a minute to think," said Jase.
"So, you're a mermaid?" he asked while sitting down in the dry sand.
"I'll tell you everything as I dry off, but you can't tell anyone else about what I'm about to say," said Quinn as she moved further onto the beach till she was out of the water.
"Of course, I'd never hurt you Quinn," said Jase with a smile.
