A/N: Hello and welcome one and all to this series that I have begun. You might have heard of the great grail wars before but never like this. I will see that the third grail war takes place during the 1940s instead of the 1930s. Anyway, I did this because the grail war would be way more interesting if it took place then. I mean what would the interactions be like. The church and the association could finally clash! The betrayals would be amazing. The fight scenes between ships, airplanes, tanks, versus a servant would be awesome but catastrophic.

1st of August 1939

It had been some years since the war to end all wars took place. Usually, there was supposed to be something to look forward to but times were getting tough, especially with money. Nothing in the world seemed to be going right. Tensions were rising, people were starting to have no money, it was very bleak. Anyhow, even with all that happening, I was able to get by. The reason for that is I was a mage. Yep, the people who can cast magic. I lived by myself in the U.S.A for a long time. It wasn't the best at the time but I was still there. The thing I was looking forward to is the Holy Grail War, well not exactly looking forward to the war more like the grail. To get a wish granted is amazing. My wish is to stop any wars like the great war from happening again. Even mages couldn't stop the horrors of that war. I was something none was experienced in. No mage's resolve could prepare them for that.

I hear a ring that pulls me out of my thoughts. I resist the thought of it being someone who I wouldn't want to be calling me.

"Hello?" I answer as I pick up the telephone.

"Hello Mason my boy, how are you?" a familiar old gentlemanly voice responds. I internally sighed in relief.

"What is it, Uncle," I said with venom in my tongue.

"That's some way to refer to someone who is giving you a contract," He retorted.

"What type of contract?" I said wearily. I wondered what he had in mind.

"Infiltration."

"Anything else I should know?" I questioned,

I was about to take a sip of my coffee when he said, "In Germany." This made me confused and upset because my coffee was now on the ground.

"What?" I said in a questioning tone.

"The Association needs you to come here to Britain, cross into Germany via boat, not die by trying to cross into Germany and infiltrate the Einzbern Neuschwanstein Castle. When you get there recover some files they stole, kill their Master, and summon a servant."

"You do know that Britain and France are at the edge of war with Germany. Germany is taking also taking territory like a cow eating grass. Why would pick me for this?" I retorted. A one-man infiltration into what was one of the most hostile places in the world at the time for mages is suicide.

"Look, the association needs you to do this because you have the potential to become a master in the upcoming 3rd Holy Grail War. They want you to represent the association and replace the Einzberns. You are not going to be sent in alone, that would be suicide," he said in a calm but irritated voice.

"Alright I'll do it but I better get paid for this," I imagined myself getting a big reward and being able to make all the projects I want.

"You will Mason, my boy. You will..." he ended the call. I always thought he sounded creepy on purpose.

"Great, now to clean up this mess," I refer to my coffee that's now on the ground. Yay.

I got out of my chair to clean up the mess. After I finished cleaning, I went to feed my familiars. I'm not one of those heartless mages who kills animals for blood. I made them my familiars and loved them like family. I could communicate with all of them. I owned four German shepherds, trained as police dogs. Five birds as well. Two eagles, two ravens, and a dove. I trained all of my familiars so were capable of going toe-to-toe with a mage. To fit all these guys I lived in a mansion in the woods. It was the most remote location of all mages, which is what I've heard from my uncle. The bounded field is what makes it remote. It is a constant thunderstorm. Those damned mosquitos seem to like the blood of intruders and for some reason, they are swarm hunters. The rain doesn't affect the mansion, me, or the wildlife. Only other humans. Anyway, I needed to make some phone calls to get a boat to Britain.

My family specialized in thaumaturgical smithing. Our family wasn't that known since we had average magical potential but what they don't realize is our weapons. We create unique magic-infused weapons/armor. We created all major myths legendary swords, armor, etc. We were a big threat when we had our weapons in hand. We could even wield the weapons better than the legendary weapon-wielder. (ex. Artoria Pendragon) I started walking into my workshop where my furnace and other smithing materials are. I made many things in there with my dad and uncle but they weren't as high of quality compared to recent projects. There was one project I forced myself to make so don't disappoint the Argius family name. Anyway, I made it three years ago and I called them the origin bullets. They were a prototype bullet that could short-circuit magic circuits. I called them origin bullets because I used a mage whose origin was severing instead of gunpowder. They were one of my previous contracts. When I tested them on a contract they proved a success so I made more copies of them for contracts. They were used only for killing blows.

I started planning out what to do for the new contract as I worked on the new project. I just needed to prepare everything that could be useful in the contract. A potion to heal my wounds, a dagger, and my latest project which I kept hidden on me with some basic wind magic, are the things that I brought since I got more equipment in Britain. For now, I headed to my office to make some calls.

21st of August, 1939

Usually, boat rides were supposed to be pleasant. Not this one, this one had to be rushed so no German ships detected us but we still had a mirror projection around the boat. That was thanks to one of my soldiers. In Britain, I was given a section of mages with specific skill sets that would benefit me in Germany. We didn't know what technology or soldiers the Nazis had so we took precautions. We had some origin bullets, three Mk 2 grenades, one De Lisle, two Bren LMG, one M1903 Springfield, four Welrod pistols, and three magic-infused blades, which were your uncle's doing. We were so prepared that it seemed too easy. Though, they are the legendary Einzbern family. Said to have mages that are homunculi.

"We'll be arriving in Germany in thirty minutes," Jack said. He was our navigator and an expert in explosion magic. He was sailing the boat.

"Finally, I felt like I've been on this boat for hours," said our charismatic badass who was known as Will. He specialized in healing magic and poisons.

"We've only been on this vessel for an hour. Thankfully with no detection," said James the cold and silent type. His magecraft was illusions and very good ones at that. He could trick a wild animal into thinking he's one of them.

"Usually this voyage would take three hours without interruption but thanks to enhancement magic on the engine and propellers, good thing a twat ain't doing it," Frank says. He is our technician and his magecraft is Portals. He can warp objects or people through these portals. I heard from him that they are very strategic and he can technically be in two places at once with these. I didn't know what he meant until he demonstrated by putting a portal on a wall near a door then he went to the bathroom and placed one there. He shot a bullet in the bathroom portal and it came out through the door portal. It was very impressive.

"Yes, we know this already, no need to celebrate yourself," I say to him pointing out that he's been saying how good of a job he did on the enhancement for the past hour and even before we set sail.

"Shut it, you wanker," Frank said sarcastically.

"Frank you taking the piss with the boss," Will smugly replied.

'They are talking more like soldiers than mages.' I thought to myself.

"No, just daft," Frank replied sarcastically.

'It makes sense because they had a normal childhood unlike most mages,' I thought to myself. They told me that they are all soldiers who accidentally stumbled onto their powers when they were around seventeen to nineteen years old. They hid it and practiced until they were individually caught by the association. They all studied together at Clocktower where they became good friends. They were enlisted into the Royal Navy special forces when the war started. All world powers at the time had at least some form of magical special forces in their militaries.

"Daft, your as daft as a bush," Will remarked wittingly.

"Five minutes until we reach Germany," Jack said loudly to disrupt our conversation. He did a good job since we all now know what to do.

"Everyone get ready! Get your guns, ammo, grenades, everything!" I say strictly as I get up from my seat to speak.

"When we reach Germany we sink the boat! We will march onwards to our objective! Destroy any Nazis in our path. Our objective is Einzbern castle! Now get ready for everything: Magic, antimagic, familiars, and more because we can't have every piece of intel! No matter how long it takes, will you stand with me!" There was silence. One there should never be after a speech.

"Let's get those pricks," I said very dejectedly on my second attempt. They all cheered for that response.

"And maybe we'll be walking out of this with banks full!" I say smugly knowing how much we are getting paid for this, and it's...a lot. We all laughed at this statement.

We prepared everything, got off the boat, and were ready to detonate. I motioned the countdown with my hand. Five, four, three, two, and one. The boat was engulfed in an inferno and was in pieces, just as planned. Now to silently get to Einzbern castle from the coast.

25th of October 1939

The start of the war caused by the advancing Nazis into Poland made us almost give up but we persisted. We made it past the marching Nazis. We were able to infiltrate through Germany unharmed. We were at the castle by dawn. Now we only have one problem. The Bounded Field.

"We forgot about the bounded field!" Will yelled. Though it was muffled thanks to the snowstorm.

"How are we getting through?" Jack said.

"They will detect us if we go through," I replied.

"Don't worry I got a plan. I never tried using my portals on a bounded field. It might work?" The uncertainty in Frank's voice scared me.

"Well, do it," Will said. Frank put a portal on the bounded field, we walked through, and nothing happened. It was successful for now.

"You did it, now to take out all of the guards or sneak by everything and get what we need," James spoke. We all jerked at his response. He is so quiet that sometimes we forget he is here.

"Either way, we need to make it so it looks like we were never here," I say while walking.

"Hey is it just me or does that shadow look like a dog?"

"Shoot," Jack and I said.

"Piss," is what Will and Frank replied.

"Not this again," is what James whispered.

"I hate taking down animals but if they're going to take me down. I have no choice." Will said.

James was either strong or messed up because he said, " you get used to it." I don't know which one he was leaning towards.

"Never say something that way ever again," Jack said.

Anyway, the wolves started to surround us. The way I remember it, it was so close to being us being turned into lunch. Thankfully, James pulled through by using his illusions to trick the wolves into thinking we were wolves. He even made them think we had a mana signature to theirs

We were able to make it outside the castle by disguising ourselves as wolves and tricking the many evil spirits and wolves. We were in the snow scouting the castle out with our iron sights.

"Two at the third-floor windows, four patrolling around this wall, two at the right tower, two on the left tower," James reports while pointing his De Lisle.

"And we haven't even seen the front, this is just one side," Will said.

"This place is heavily fortified no matter where you look," Frank said dejectedly.

"They don't even have guns, just polearms, swords, and other melee weapons," James reports

"They must be that confident," Jack said.

"I think they are expecting someone," I stated.

"What like the German Army? No way," Jack chided.

"Exactly. They aren't expecting a small task force to take them down," I said

"What you thinking of doing?" Will said confused.

"Our best course of action seems to be a stealth operation entering from the windows," I tell them. They all nod.

" I think I know how to get in without detection," Frank replied.

"First, let me change our disguises. We are going to appear to anyone else besides us, as guards," James thought up. He was very clever in coming up with these disguises.

"Listen up everyone, here is the plan. We split up when we enter to not look suspicious. Then, we all meet on the top floor and start searching every downwards, as a unit, until we find the schematics. After that take out the Einzbern master and summon me a servant. Except you James, I need you to go to the tallest tower and start picking off guards that start to notice," I ordered.

We came up to each of the patrolling guards and took them out from behind. I don't think any guards in the towers saw the deaths due to their vision being hampered by the snowstorm. We made sure to cover their mouths before eliminating them so they wouldn't make as much noise. When we walked up to the windows, Frank put a portal on the wall of the hallway inside the castle and put one on the castle exterior wall. When we walked in we dragged in some snow which is a telltale sign that something came in. When we all got inside Frank closed the portals, only leaving snow as evidence. I signaled them to open the window to let in more snow and make it seem that that was the cause. Then we split up as intended.

"Excuse me Jubstacheit, do you have a moment?" The homunculi guard requested.

"What is it I'm busy," Jubstacheit was always busy to her.

"I was in the tower listening for a large group of people, as you told me to when I noticed there was no one patrolling the castle. There were four people if my memory serves me. Also, I heard a window open," the young one left. She was a failure. She was blind but had all her other senses increased tenfold. That one was useful for things like this.

"Your report is appreciated," Jubstacheit says as the guard returns to her post.

'What she said is troubling, if it is an intruder. They must be extremely skilled to get past our defenses undetected,' Jubstacheit thought.

He opened a drawer and took out a key. This key was important because it unlocked a vault that housed all Einzbern's secrets. He had would have to hide her as well. Jubstacheit thought that hiding them together would be easier.

Jubstacheit walked to the Einbern master's room. He gave her the key and ordered her to wait by a door and run when she heard a signal.

We were able to get the files. We noticed that the courtyard wasn't that crowded so we started walking through there. No one noticed us at first until...

Forty of them did. They all came down from the roof and surrounded us.

"It is very foolish to trespass on a mages' territory," an old man said. It was Jubstacheit Von Einzbern. The head of the household.

"Why would you want to take our files? We never did anything to you," Jubstacheit said as he took back the files.

A homunculus pats us down. They report it to him. "They have no weapons? Then, it is easier to kill these trespassers," he said. We had our weapons, the illusion was just that good.

As he walks off, some homunculi grab us. That's when the fun began. James enhanced his range and sniped the homunculi from the tower. Man, it was good to have someone that had mystic eyes that could see in any weather condition. We shed our illusions and took out our guns. The homunculi tried to dodge but a bullet is a bullet for a reason. With our Bren LMGs, it was easier to mow them down. Some grabbed Jack from behind. James took out two and it became a one-versus-one with Jack and his magic-enhanced blade and homunculi with an ax. Let's just say that Jack was new to the way of the sword and got his hand cut off. In the end, he won by stabbing the homunculus in the heart but at a price.

I stood here at the tower and watched the battle take place. I notice that it was gonna end soon so I strapped De Lisle onto my back. The scenery here was quite the site without the snowstorm. However, I did notice a white dot moving quite slow in the forest. It does look like a person.

'Think you are smart Einzbern,' I thought to myself. I take out my De Lisle and aim it at the leg of the person.

'Well, I'm smarter,' I thought as I pulled the trigger. 'They won't be going anywhere with a bullet in their leg.'

The only thing I needed to do then, found the final head.

After an intense battle, homunculi were littered everywhere in the courtyard. One was alive on the ground floor but heavily injured so I stabbed him in the throat, to preserve ammo or to spare him the pain. Who knows? Will decided to stay back to reattach Jack's hand. Frank and I walked deeper into the now-dead castle. We looked for the summoning chamber for a bit. I found it on the third basement floor. James was in there with Jubstacheit. He's pointing his Welrod.

"Welcome, you seem to have defeated all my guards. I am disappointed that they were defeated so easily," Jubstacheit said to us. I immediately point my origin Welrod at him.

"What is the servant you summoned Einzbern?" I say with venom in my tongue. I signaled James and Frank to secure any exits.

"We intended on summoning an Avenger but we got a Ruler."

"What's the catch," I ask him in a commanding demeanor, there was more to this.

"We experimented on this ruler to make them into an Avenger but it failed. Horribly. Now die vermin!" He shouted as magical-string-birds attacked me.

The magic-string-birds were able to cut me a few times but I resisted for a bit. Then, the birds made themselves into strings and pinned me to the wall. Thankfully I still had my pistol in my hand. I had a clean shot with the origin bullets loaded. He was In agony sure but so was I being cut from those damned strings. I even have some scars. I shot him in the head and ended the Golem's existence. I walked up to the door behind him. There is where I saw the body. The servant's body was now bloody and mangled from all the experimentation. I thought of a crazy idea. What if I could bring this servant back and reverse this?. However, there wasn't anything that could bring that back. Only one thing could. I thought it was a joke for such a long time but now that I thought about it, that old fart might have been onto something. I pulled out the mythical dagger. The sacred heirloom of my family said to fix tragedies. It was a dagger made from the fang of a dragon long forgotten. My doubts were nothing but worthless because I stabbed the servant in the heart with it.

Suddenly, I felt an immense force push me back. It had enough force to cause a gust because I felt that gust push against my body. My vision was engulfed with light.

"Servant, Avenger. Summoned upon your request. ...What's with that look? Come on, here's the contract." I looked at her shocked but when I realize what I had just done, it was amazing. I changed a servant's class! And revived one no less!

"I am your master and you are the servant that will end a war," I respond confidently. When I said that, I had just completed the contract and I had three command spells on my right hand to show for it. The command spell looked like a dragon head and two wings.

She had something else in mind. I could tell because her face looked like she was unhappy. "Why end a war when we could start new ones instead? Sounds good, doesn't it?"

What she said to me that day was preposterous. "I will never start a war. I shall spill blood to end all conflict. I will bring peace to the world," I state. Avenger seemed to calm down by that statement.

"Anyway, what are my orders?"

"I want you to just standby for now. We have everything we need from this place and there is only the question of how to get back to Britain," I could tell she didn't like that.

"If we're going to Britain, that means you are part of the allies. What a terrible side to be on," Avenger rebuked.

"You know how to pester people don't you?"

"Why you-"

Frank was able to interrupt the conversation from going any further. "Sorry to interrupt but there is a German battalion headed through here."

"Do we have the records?" I ask Frank. We had a secondary task that was to steal some records from the Einzberns covertly but that went south.

"Yes, we were able to recover them. Thankfully they weren't destroyed. We even checked to see if there was an explosive trap in them by tracing their structure but there wasn't anything," Frank responded.

"Let's get out of here."
