Tracer is on the main deck drinking some water and talking to everyone when Tank comes into the mess hall.
"Tracer, do you want to get some sleep or just get all your uploading done now?"
"Don't have to ask me twice, I'm not even remotely tired." She says putting her cup down and follows Tank to the Matrix lounge as she called it.
"So, I'm Tank, I'm your operator." he informs her, shaking her hand.
Tracer looks at his arm as they shake, noticing his untouched skin. "So you're a human?"
Tank sits in his chair, staring at Tracer like she has three heads. "How did you-"
Tracer points at his arms, "You don't have a single jack on you."
Tank smiles, "Me and my brother Dozer are pure old fashioned home-grown humans of Zion." he states proudly.
She smiles, "You're going to have to tell me about it sometime." she winks at him setting up in her chair. Switch comes over to help finish plugging her in. "Thanks, pretty lady." she says, making Switch smile.
"No problem, have fun." she replies walking away.
Morpheus comes into the room and stands over Tracer, "I really think you should wait until you've had some rest."
"Is that concern I hear in your voice Morpheus?" she smiles at him, "I'll be fine. I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to."
"If it gets too much, take a break." he instructs her.
She salutes him teasingly, "Yes, sir!"
Morpheus leaves the room, leaving Tank and Tracer by themselves. Tank flipping through discs by the computer and muttering to himself is the only sound in the room.
"We're supposed to load all these operation programs first." he states, making Tracer frown.
"That sounds boring."
Tank laughs, "It's some major boring shit!" He keeps flipping through micro discs. "Why don't we start with something a little more fun?"
She smiles, "I like the sound of that Tanky. Whatcha got?"
He snorts, "Tanky?"
Tracer giggles at his reaction, "Oh come on! It's cute."
"I don't care...Tracey." He laughs at the disgusted face she makes to her name."
Tank continues sorting through the micro discs, "Is jujitsu fun to you?"
"We'll find out, load it up." she says excitedly.
Tank types at the computer as Tracer shuts her eyes from a buzzing feeling developing in her head. The monitor next to her starts to beep faster, indicating her heart rate is speeding up as the static feeling in her head stops and she opens her eyes. "Holy shit, Batman! What else do you have? That was amazing!" She huffs from her excitement.
Tank smiles looking at the monitors, getting another program ready, "Hey Mikey, she likes it! Let's give her more."
Tracer bounces her leg up and down excitedly, "Aw snickers, let's go."
Tank pinches his nose, slowly getting tired from staring at the monitor for hours. Neo came a few hours into Tracer's download and began his install as well. Tank's stack for Tracer is almost done by the time Morpheus comes back onto the deck. He leans over Tank to look at the monitor for tracer and sees the grey box is just about filled and notices Neo's is halfway filled.
"How long has Tracer been installing?" he asks Tank.
Tank looks at the monitor, "Well Tracer has been going ten hours straight, Neo is just over five hours. They are machines." Tank says, impressed with the duo in the chairs.
One of the monitors starts to beep signaling Tracer is done with all the programs. Morpheus walks over to her. She smiles big looking up at him and winces when he unplugs her. She starts to sit up but feels light-headed and instantly grips the closest thing close to her for support, which happens to be Morpheus' arm. Morpheus instantly holds her, noticing she seems to be in a daze.
"Tracer?"
"I'm ok, just feel so drained." She says whispering.
"I told you to take a break if you felt tired."
"I'm ok…" She says standing up straight. She takes two steps and then faints. Before she hits the ground, Morpheus catches her, carrying her to her bunk. He places her on her bed, tucking her in, moves the hair behind her ear so it's out of her face and looks at her feeling something strange. He leaves the room thinking she's sleeping peacefully.
"You're going to come to me asking me for help regarding Morpheus."
"What am I supposed to do? Let Morpheus die? I won't just stand there while they kill him!"
"Get him out of here!"
"Zion will be destroyed and then there will be no reason for me to be here"
"Tracer, don't do this you'll die!"
"I need to get the codes to get inside Zion, and you are going to get them for me or you are going to die."
"Do you hear me, Tracer? I hate this place, this zoo, this prison, this reality whatever you want to call it I can't stand it any longer."
"I must get out of here. I must get free, and you're the weakness of the mind that is the key."
"Don't you get it? I'm doing this because I love you, Morpheus. You're not going to die."
"Now, you die."
Tracer sits up in bed abruptly. She looks around breathing heavily, her shirt is drenched in sweat as she gets up and runs out of her room bumping into someone.
Tank holds her, narrowing his eyes at her, checking her over. "Where's the fire?"
Tracer wraps her arms around his waist tightly and starts to cry. Tank looks around spotting Trinity and Neo who are rushing over to see what's wrong.
"Trinity go get Morpheus." he orders.
Trinity rushes up the ladder with Neo standing there awkwardly. Tank rubs Tracer's back trying to calm her down as she starts to hyperventilate. He is about to ask Neo to get her something to drink but Morpheus jumps down the ladder with Trinity right behind him.
"What is going on?" Morpheus demands, looking at Tank. He puts his hand on the back of Tracer's head, rubbing it soothingly.
At the sound of Morpheus' voice, Tracer squeezes Tank tighter making him grunt when he tries to loosen her grip.
"Tracer," Morpheus says, "Let go of Tank and tell me what happened."
Everyone is now in the hallway looking at the scene. Cipher steps forward in front of Neo trying to pry her off of Tank, which results in Tracer fighting him, kicking and screaming. Neo backs away so he doesn't get kicked while Trinity and Switch try to stop her from hurting anyone. Morpheus orders Cypher to put her down and quickly wraps his arms around her as she hits his chest with her hands. Morpheus yells her name, making the hallway silent. Tracer looks up at him, with fear in her eyes, and quickly clutches him like he's her life support.
"What. Happened." Morpheus turns to Tank.
Tank shifted nervously, "I was walking to get some shut-eye and she ran out of her room crying. I asked her what was wrong and how you found us was how she was the entire time."
"Everyone go back to what you were doing." He orders. Morpheus bends down and hooks an arm under her legs, "Tracer, hook your arms around me, I'm going to pick you up." She whimpers as she moves positions and feels herself being carried through the hall. A loud bang is heard, making her jump and squeeze his neck tighter.
"Tracer, if you squeeze any tighter I won't be able to breathe."
She loosens her grip and he sets her down on something soft. She moves her head away and frantically looks around the room and notices it's just her and Morpheus. A knock comes from the door, and Morpheus goes to open it but stops when Tracer whimpers, "Please don't go."
"I'm only seeing who it is. I'm not going anywhere." he promises as he opens the door to Neo holding a glass of water.
"I figured she might need something to drink. Is she ok?"
Morpheus shakes his head, shuts the door, and sits next to Tracer on the bed handing her the water. "Drink this."
"I'm sorry I scared everyone." she says sipping the water.
Tears are still falling from her eyes, and her face is red as a tomato from how hard she was crying. A blemish is on her knuckles from hitting someone, which Morpheus notes to find out who it was later and check on them. His priority right now is the woman in front of him. Ever since he heard she was looking for him he felt like he had to meet her. Then when he finally found her, he felt instantly drawn to her. Morpheus was never one to act on his emotions, he always thought things through. He always acted rationally, until he laid eyes on her. He had to bring her with him, he felt instantly protective of her for some reason he couldn't explain. But he wasn't supposed to wake her up, he was only supposed to look for Neo. But according to her, the Oracle was talking to her through dreams which he never heard of before. Was the Oracle able to somehow wake people up? He has to ask the next time he visits her when he brings Neo to see her. Tracer's sniffling brings him back from his thoughts as he hands her a tissue.
"Will you tell me what happened?" He asks quietly, rubbing her back to make sure she doesn't break down again.
Tracer looks up at him, debating whether or not to include him in the information she wasn't sure she should be sharing except with the Oracle. She had no idea what they even meant or who was talking. She could make out a few voices but others she couldn't.
Giving in, she sighs, "Remember when I told you in the construct that the Oracle came to me in dreams?"
He nods, remembering the message she gave him.
"Well, that's not the only thing I dream about. Sometimes, I can hear future events.
This piqued Morpheus' interest, "What do you mean, hear?"
"I don't dream often, but when I do, it's just noises, like when you're in a crowded room. But some are louder than others. The Oracle said they are similar to vision, except I can't determine what's real or just a dream."
"You heard something didn't you?"
Tracer hesitantly nods, "I don't know who says them, or when it's going to happen, If they do happen. It's just a black abyss with voices around me. I don't know if I should tell you honestly."
"Was I involved?"
"Morpheus…"
"Is that why you were crying?"
"I don't know what was happening, but some voices sounded...so...threatening." She looks back down, "I really need to talk to the Oracle about this. Are we going to see her soon?"
"I'm making you and Neo get some sleep before we train and then we'll see her."
Tracer stands up and looks at him with her arms crossed, "No disrespect to you, I know you're in charge and have the final say, however, if what I heard was something that is going to happen, I rather see her now and try and stop something bad from happening." When he doesn't respond, she uncrosses her arms and grabs his hand. Both of her hands were small enough to fit in one of his hands, and the thought made her want to smile "Please Morpheus. I think something bad is going to happen."
Morpheus, not being able to refuse the look in her eye. The look of someone who is scared. "If you want to, we can go see her now. But it's only going to be just us. She won't be expecting us."
Tracer smiles and wraps her arms around his neck, giving him a hug. Morpheus tenses up feeling her pressed against him. She smiles, feeling safe in his arms. The heat from his body warms hers from the chilliness of the ship. Morpheus sits there, not minding the contact and pulls her closer to him, rubbing her back, telling her everything is going to be ok. What did this mean? Before he can continue thinking, she leans back and pecks his cheek, pulling up to stand up so they can see the Oracle and put her fears to rest.
"I'll meet you on the deck, I have to get Tank." he says, walking away.
Tracer sits in the seat she claimed hers hearing Morpheus and Tank walking her way.
Tank yawns rubbing his eyes looking at Tracer, "You're so lucky you worried the shit out of me enough to make my nice ass skip sleep and let you guys get plugged." he says waiting to plug Morpheus in.
"Sorry I scared you Tank." a frown appearing on her face again.
"If plugging you in is going to help you, I'm in." he says as he watches her wince when Morpheus puts the needle in her head. "By the way, you have a very strong grip for a girl." he says, winking at her as he plugs Morpheus in.
Tracer opens her eyes and looks down at her black and red dress with her heels. Morpheus had on his leather jacket and purple dress shirt with black pants under it.
"Am I always going to be in this stupid dress?" she asks. "I hate dresses honestly."
"We can talk about wardrobe next time you plugin, right now, we have more pressing matters." He sees their car and opens the door for Tracer. "Get in."
Tracer gets in the car while Morpheus walks around to get in the car and drives to see the Oracle. Looking out the window she notices it's night time and the street lights dimply light the road.
"Morpheus?" she asks looking at him.
He hums in acknowledgment while keeping his eyes on the road.
"I just wanted to say thank you for doing this for me. I know I didn't explain everything but thank you."
"I want you to feel safe." he says looking at her through his black sunglasses.
"Do you always wear those glasses? How can you even see the road?"
"They don't bother me. I don't show my face to anyone in this world."
They approach a building and Morpheus parks the car, escorting Tracer to the floor where the Oracle resides. Before he can even knock, the Oracle opens the door looking alarmed, "Tracer. Morpheus. Come in." she moves out of the way to let them in and locks the door behind them.
"I know you weren't expecting us. However -"
"Morpheus, I know why you're here. SIt down in the chair while I talk to Tracer please."
Stunned, Morpheus sits by the door, while Tracer is led further in the room.
They walk into the kitchen as the Oracle pulls out a chair for Tracer to sit down while she makes her a cup of tea.
"Tell me what you heard."
Tracer begins to explain her dreams about someone wanting to destroy Zion, getting codes, and someone menacing telling them they hate the world and want to leave and Morpheus needing help as were the rest of her visions. The Oracle slowly sips the tea, listening to the information of the frantic girl. "What are you not telling me."
Tracer shakes her head, "I'm scared that part is the one that's real."
The oracle just stares at her, almost as if she is seeing through her, "You told Morpheus you love him."
"Yes, but the last part is someone saying I'm going to die. I don't know those voices. Is there anything you can tell me?"
"This is a conversation that Morpheus needs to be a part of." she shouts for Morpheus, and in seconds he approaches the kitchen. "This is a long talk."
The pair look at her waiting to explain. Tracer leans forward, as if her life depends on the answer, making Morpheus put a hand on her shoulder to calm her.
"Tracer, I told Morpheus a while back, back when he first woke up, that a woman would be born into the Matrix but would only be woken up when he finds the one."
"Neo?" Tracer asks looking up at Morpheus.
Morpheus nods, "I would need to wake her so that she would help save Zion."
"So I'm supposed to save Zion?"
The Oracle smiles, "Well, that task is for someone else. You, honey, however, are the glue that holds everything together."
Tracer watches as the two exchange looks, "What are you talking about?"
"You two are something that is called Twin Flames. It's very rare for two people to find it."
Tracer scoffs, "What like soul mates?"
The Oracle nods her head, "In a way yes. Except if one of you fails, the one won't be able to do his job. It's a domino effect."
Morpheus doesn't say anything as Tracer freaks out more. "I don't understand, how can we be soulmates."
"Twin Flame, Tracer, and yes you two are. Morpheus knows exactly what I'm talking about." she says looking up at Morpheus as he clears his throat.
"I thought I met mine, but it turns out she wasn't the one I was looking for."
Tracer bites her lip standing up, "What are you guys talking about!?" she yells
The Oracle explains what Twin Flames are. A soul is split in half and each person never feels complete until they find each other. "Did you ever wonder why you guys felt a pull towards each other. Why when you are scared, Morpheus makes you feel calm and safe. Once they find each other, they can't let each other go. However, your roads are not easy. You're both going to go through hard times, but you both can make it through this if you trust each other." She says to the pair looking at each other. "Tracer this was meant to happen, but it does come with a warning. Twin flames weren't born together, but they will die together."
"So if Tracer or I get killed, the other will die as well?" Morpheus asks.
"Sadly yes, Twin Flames are soul connected. The connection is so strong that it will also be excruciatingly painful when they lose their other half." she looks at Tracer, "That is why I told you both at one point to protect each other."
Morpheus looks at the time putting a hand on Tracer's back. "We need to get back."
"Wait, what does this have to do with my visions?"
The Oracle looks at her sadly, "The Agents are up to something. I don't know what but they have something to do with your visions. I can't tell you anything more at this time."
Tracer winces when she feels the needle leave her head. She turns her head and stares at Morpheus. She always knew she felt something for Morpheus. When her visions first started, she always wondered why she felt such pain watching a man she didn't even know call for her for help. It made sense. When she woke up from her recent vision, she couldn't calm down until Morpheus held her, how she wanted to stay wrapped in his arms, how safe he made her feel. But just because fate put them together doesn't mean the feelings are there yet. She didn't want Morpheus to feel like he was stuck with her because fate decided they had too. She wanted him to WANT to be with her because it was his choice. Tracer could wait. She didn't want to force this. The vision rattled her still, but it also put new determination to keep everybody safe, including Morpheus. But what the Oracle said plagued her mind. How was she the glue to keep everyone together?
