It was a few hours into the middle of the night, around 1-2am to be more accurate, and you had woken up from what seemed to be a nightmare...a dark, narrow city street surrounded by tall, gray, shaded skyscrapers and a person standing at the farthest end of the street just staring you down with yellow glowing eyes, what seemed like a cape or wings on his back and a very specific belt around his waist...he also appeared to have smallish horns sticking out of his forehead, he grins at you with a fanged smile...mouths something...then you're awake.

You quietly arose from your bed trying not to wake the guys, but in the dull city light you noticed Egon's bed was empty. It looked as if he hadn't even gotten in or out of it at all, so you tiptoed out and into the area with the couches and coffee table in the center to find Egon lying along the length of the couch. His head and back were propping him upright but his legs were horizontal to the couch, his glasses had skewed off his face to the floor and he was slightly snoring as you continued tiptoeing closer to him, you picked up his glasses and cautiously set them on the coffee table then snuck over to the kitchen area of the room and softly opened the cupboard and got a cup then to the freezer for some ice and then quietly turning the screechy cold water faucet to get some water.

Egon shifted and stretched, which made you turn around and almost drop your glass. You quickly caught yourself and the cup from making a racket, but it was too late Egon was half-awake.

"What are you doing up?" He looked at the watch on his wrist.

"Oh...I-um I was thirsty, I tend to sleep with my mouth open and it was all slimy." You chuckled nervously.

He looked at you with brown, tired eyes and nodded with a little 'umph' to say 'ok'... you made your way back towards him and sat on the recliner you cried on before you left for your apartment earlier that afternoon. His eyes followed you as you sat then he rubbed the sleep out of them.

"I wanted to ask you, what are you guys going to do after I start college? I've only been here a total of 2 days and my apartment doesn't feel safe anymore, but I don't have enough money to move my stuff to an on campus dorm…" You asked him after taking a refreshing sip of your water.

He looked at you like you were speaking gibberish, "I don't know, I mean according to Ray you do have an official open case. He told Janine to set up a file for you, but since your classes will start here in about a few weeks and you have nowhere to go...I'm not sure."

"Oh...I was also thinking of what kind of job I'd need to cover all the books and living provisions I'll need to make it through college...plus the tuition and all." You chuckled as you put the cup down and the ice clinked against the glass.

Egon thought hard, even though he felt tired his brain was still firing on all cylinders. Then his face lit up with a bit more energy than he had already, "Well I just thought of something, but I would have to discuss it with Ray in the morning." He paused.

You eyes perked and your head turned like a curious puppy, "What idea would that be?"

"Well...you said you can't go home, and you can't afford to move to a dorm...why not stay here?" He replied.

"But the college is so far away from here...how would that help?" You asked not noticing the ice melting slowly in your cup.

"But there's more to my idea...Janine has been complaining that babysitting Oscar for Peter and Dana has been difficult to juggle with also working secretary hours here...I was going to suggest I discuss with Ray about letting you work here while you take classes and since we also do patrol rides on the Ecto-1, we could take you to and from classes on days you wouldn't want to take a taxi." He finished with a tired grin on his long face.

Once your brain processed what he meant, your eyes lit up like stars, "Y-you really mean it?!"

"Yes, and maybe with that you could get benefits to some of the things we do which would make it easier for you to budget your earnings and pay your tuition when it's due." He quipped with a stretch and pops of his stiff bones from sleeping on the couch.

You jumped up giddily and hugged him while he stretched, "Thank you, thank you, thank you! You whisper yelled as not to wake Ray or Winston.

All of a sudden Egon slipped into a small coma and slumped over you with a dead weight, you felt panicked by this and yelled for Ray or Winston. Ray heard your yells and jumped out of bed to the point of almost tripping.

"What happened?!" Ray yelled in shock.

"I don't know...I just hugged him and he fainted like this, he was perfectly fine a second ago!" Tears started to fill your eyes as Ray lifted Egon up to sit him more upright then he was before.

Winston called 911 and had an ambulance pull up to check Egon out, as the EMT came up and did his job you again were crying on the recliner, things lately have been going from bad to worse...unless it was a good thing like your college acceptance but this was one for the worse. Egon finally woke up a little more worse for wear and groggier than he was when he woke up to talk to you.

"You feeling all right Eggy (Ee-ggy)?" Ray asked him as the EMT had him hooked to an oxygen tank with the little nose ring tube.

"R-ray? What happened?" Egon groaned putting his hand to his head like a bad hangover.

"(Y/N) just told me you two were talking and then she hugged you and you fainted." Ray responded while gesturing to you crying.

"Y-yeah, that's exactly what happened...but...what happened after that?" He asked like he there was something he didn't remember.

"Nothing, you just woke up a second ago." Ray said worriedly.

"I must've had a nightmare then…" He shook his head gently like a dog shaking off water.

"You can tell me about it after the EMT finishes checking you out, okay?" Ray placed his hand on Egon's shoulder, and Egon didn't react at all just with a friendly smile of 'thanks for worrying about me.'

-Time Skip-

You had gone to the roof to clear your head, you had heard Egon mention the nightmare he had to Ray...it was exactly the same as the one you had before talking to him. Egon had also mentioned his idea to Ray to which he had agreed, so you had a job now. But this wasn't the point, something was off and not in a normal way. You had been thinking, every time since you met Egon and the guys something wrong happened with him...especially when you would touch him. It was a problem, but you had other things to worry about...like college, the ghost haunting your apartment, and now working with the men whose one smartest member you seem to be hurting just by being there...and then the party that Ray had seemed to just invite you to since you had become a quick friend to them. So much was going on at one time that you needed to slow down and being on the roof alone was doing just that.

Except for the looming shadow that was standing on the building across the street, just watching with a fanged grin...and yellow...shining eyes.
