AN: Hey, sorry it's so short, but I don't know if I'll have time to keep going until next weekend and I'm trying to figure out where to go with like 5 different stories so... anyways. thanks for reading :)

"Hey, El." Olivia smiled when she walked into the daycare center to drop off Noah.

Elliot returned the smile. "Liv, you look nice today." It was in reference to her floral patterned dress that she had chosen in favor of the usual business formal attire.

A chuckle escaped her mouth. "This old thing? It's nothing fancy, just didn't want to wear the suit today."

With a small step, he lessened the gap between them. "Well, I think it's gorgeous. It brings out your eyes."

Noah, always one to be blunt, blurted, "Are you going to kiss?"

"Uh…" Olivia blushed as she stepped away, her eyes automatically diverting to the watch that once was Trevor's. "Looks like it's time for me to go to work… I'll pick you up after work, Noah. I love you." She kissed her boy's head and then hurried out of the door.

Elliot followed suit and made his way for the door, trying to catch up with her before she got too far away. "Liv!" He called after her, the sound of his voice causing her to turn around.

"What." Her voice was terse.

His eyebrows furrowed at her sudden change in moods. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"My kid just asked me if I was going to kiss his best friend's father, that's what's wrong." A tense laugh made its way out of her. "What the hell am I doing with my life…" Her hands ran through her hair frustratedly.

For a second he just stood there, staring, but then he gradually found the words he was looking for. "Katie… you know… she's 4 so she's blunt, she's… she's succinct. She asked me a question the other day and I have to be honest with you, I had to tell her the truth. I promised her we would always do that." A long, drawn-out exhale put plenty of space between his thoughts. "And, Liv, she made such a great point to me… I really have to get this ball rolling… I like you, a lot… I want to give love another shot… with you. Will you let me?"
