You got up from the cold, hard ground and looked around as the shadowy darkness illuminated to a dull grey just enough to see in. Your vision was still a bit blurry...or so you thought, but that was just the texture of this strange place that you now recognized as the place from your nightmare. A place that felt lonely, desolate, and devoid of any feeling or emotion and for some reason that felt somewhat familiar in a jamais vu sort of way. Wind howled through the alleys and streets which were empty of any vehicles or people, but yet you didn't feel like you were alone.

"So, you finally decided to pay me a visit, did you?" A voice whispered with the wind.

"W-who are you?" You called out in response.

"It's still a bit too early for that, not that I didn't secretly hope you'd know by now." The voice answered with a devious chuckle in its tone.

Your eyes scanned for any sign of another person or even thing, since being with the Ghostbusters you had seen a bunch of the spooks and ghouls they brought back from the occasional case but there was nothing here to make even the smallest comparison to. The blur of the atmosphere was getting worse as you squinted but everything here moved like Van Gogh's Starry Night if it had motion.

"I'm really surprised with the one you chose," The voice moved around you like a person pacing in circles, "He's strong-willed, but yet still not strong enough to fight your powers." It continued like a coiling snake.

"Powers? What are you talking about?" You turned around trying to follow the voice, but to no avail. The voice just echoed the word "Powers" as if it had some significance. Everything went black again as you drifted out of the shadow-city but stayed asleep due to mental exhaustion.

-Egon's POV-

'(y/n)'s been in the room a while...I wonder if she's alright?' Egon thought to himself while busy with paperwork while his strength came back to him.

He glanced down at his wrist watch, then glanced to a nearby window...It was darkening and he hadn't noticed until now. He leaned back in his desk chair and stretched his arms into the air, and with a groan he cracked his back. Ray and Winston were playing on the arcade games in the back of the room since they had finished their important stuff earlier on after he wished to be left alone from this recent event.

Egon arose from his chair and stacked his papers together with a solid tap on the tabletop then walked off towards Ray and Winston.

"Beat your own high score yet, Ray?" He asked with sarcastic curiosity.

"Nope, but I was close a few times...ask Winston." Ray chuckled back at him, passing a glance to Winston, who was still glued to his game screen.

"Yeah, mhm...He groaned every time he lost, but other than that he's gotten close a couple of times." Zeddemore glanced back to Egon then off to the side at Ray then right back to his screen, which then beeped a triumphant tune and flashed a WINNER screen, "YES! Ah-ha...Finally beat Ray's score on this one by 1,000,000 points!" He jumped with a fist bumped in the air in victory.

Ray groaned in defeat and shook his head. Egon smirked slightly and walked away at his friends arcade-time rivalry. He decided to go find you in case you had fallen asleep, he couldn't quite admit to himself that he's just worried about you especially with all the odd stuff that keeps happening. He got to the bedroom door and lightly tapped his knuckles against it.

"(y/n)? Are you awake?" He whispered into the darkened room.

No response came...He knew you preferred the bed that was positioned behind the door so no light from the other room was liable to wake you up, only the sunlight from the big bay-window could, so he decided to cautiously peek his head around the door to check on you.

"(y/n)?" His eyes adjusted to the dimming light in the room and he saw you weren't on the bed.

His eyes widened in worry, "(y/n)..."

He stepped into the room just far enough to see you on the floor next to your bed and he rushed to your side. He wrapped his arms around your shoulders and his hand behind your head carefully as not to let it drop and picked you up off the ground...the feeling of weakness enveloped him again as he was holding onto you, he started to lean forward and with whatever ounce of consciousness he had left tried to keep you up off the ground.

He faded into the shadowed-cityscape and saw you standing in the middle of the empty road just about to fall over into a shadow that morphed into a humanoid shape...Running towards you he yelled out,

"(Y/N)...NO!"

Just before the shadow enveloped you...His arms caught you, just the same as he was holding you in the firehouse bedroom.
