Chapter 30:
(Camilo POV)
- 2 months later -
I stood outside the bathroom door Liv as she was sick in our bathroom upstairs, "Liv maybe we should just stay up in our room today? Daniela will understand." She shook her head, "She is our ahijado we are not missing her gift ceremony. I will be fine in a minute." I sighed nodding my head. I knew there was no way I was going to convince Liv otherwise and I kind of liked the fact that she took our roles in Daniela's life so seriously, but I hated how stubborn she was when it came to stuff like this. Liv was always on the bottom of her list of priorities and I wished she would let me put her first sometimes. She came out of the bathroom and looked at me, "I'm feeling better already." I sighed, "Can we at least leave after she gets her gift. We'll stay for the ceremony and leave before the party." Liv nodded her head, "I can live with that deal." I nodded my head as we walked to our room to get ready.
As the party started and everyone waited for Daniela, Liv and I stayed on the outskirts of the party. We made our way to the center as Daniela went to get her gift. After she touched her doorknob, Daniela went inside with Mariano, Dolores and Abuela. We all waited to see what she was going to get. Abuela came out and announced, "We have a new gift." And the party resumed. Liv and I snuck upstairs where we saw Mariano, "What is her gift?" I asked. Mariano looked at me, "She can see the loved ones we have lost and talk to them." "What?"
I said as I looked at Liv. I knew we both were thinking the same thing. Mariano nodded his head, "Yeah she touches your arm and she can see them and talk to them." "That is amazing," Liv said and I nodded in agreement. Mariano walked off in a different direction being pulled into a new conversation and I saw the look on Liv's face, "No Liv you are going to bed." She looked up at me, "But what if she can see our baby?" I let out a long breath, "Liv if she can then we can see her another day. Please go to bed." She looked up at me, "If I go to bed for the rest of the party, can we talk to Daniela before she goes to bed?" I relented nodding my head and we walked into our room and I let Liv fall asleep. I had half a mind not to wake her up but, I made a deal with her and I was going to honor it."
(Olivia POV)
Everyone was leaving the party as we left our room and saw Daniela, "Hi sobrina." I said brushing a hair out of her face, "Tía, Tía where were you?" I smiled at her, "I wasn't feeling good today and Tío wanted me to lay down, but don't worry we say you get your gift." She smiled up at us, "It is so cool." Camilo shape shifted into his Papa, "Did you make your Abuelo proud." Daniela laughed and I did too. Daniela then looked up at both of us, "Do you guys want to talk to someone?"
I nodded my head, "Yeah Daniela if you are up for it there is someone we would like to see." She smiled brightly at me, "Your my Padrinos, I'm always up for it." We walked into a hidden corner of the house and Camilo sat out in front of her and held out his arm. She ran her fingers down until she reached his elbow and grabbed on before looking to the side.
She smiled and waved and turned to face us, "Who is Marisol?" I felt myself starting to cry as I sat down next to Camilo. "What does she look like Mono?" Daniela looked to the side again, "She has long light brown curly hair and brownish-green eyes." It was her, the girl from my dreams. She was just like Camilo, "Can you tell her that I am sorry?" I felt Camilo squeeze my arm. We had talked about it many times and I knew that it wasn't my fault but I still needed to apologize. Daniela looked at us, "She says that you don't have to be sorry and that it wasn't your fault. She said she is sorry that she can't meet you now but knows that one day you are going to meet again." She let go of Camilo's arm and I wrapped her in a hug, "Thank you sobrina. You don't know how much that meant to me."
Daniela told us you're welcome and walked off probably to go to bed and I turned to face Camilo and I wrapped him in a hug. We both stayed like that for a while before we went back to bed.
- one month later -
I woke up and went to the bathroom again as I was sick to my stomach. Camilo came in behind me, "That is it. You are going to see my Tía. You have been sick like this for a month." I looked up at him, "I know but I feel fine after." He shook his head, "No, you are not downplaying this anymore. It has been a month." "Camilo," I started but he turned back around to face me, "A month." I sighed, "I'll talk to her after breakfast." He looked at me shocked, "You still want to have breakfast." I nodded my head, "Yeah I'm starving." He watched as I was walking away, "I will never understand how your brain works will I?" He asked. I turned back to face him, "Probably not, but it is still sweet that you try." Truth was I had a feeling I knew what was happening but, I wasn't going to say anything yet.
(Camilo POV)
Liv seemed happier than I had seen her in a while. I wished I could enjoy it but, I couldn't get over the fact that she was still sick. Something was going on and she wasn't telling me. I needed to know. After everything that happened with Marisol we had been better at talking to each other but, she was so tight-lipped about this. We went down to breakfast and Liv was eating, smiling, talking like there was nothing wrong. After breakfast was over I pulled Tía aside, "Hey Tía, Liv hasn't been feeling well for a while now. Do you think that you can check on her today?" "Of course Camilo," she said and I let out a breath of relief.
I was walking through the house when I saw Liv talking to Dolores right before Dolores wrapped her in a big hug. I wonder what was going on. My head was throbbing as I tried to get my mind around everything that was going on. I went up stairs to Dolores, "Hey Dolores what is going on with Liv?" She just smiled and put her hand on my shoulder, "Nothing you have to worry about." This instantly made me more worried. I'm not sure what scared me more the fact that Liv wasn't saying anything to me or the fact that my wife and sister were teaming up against me. Tía Julieta and Liv talked and again I was told that I have nothing to worry about.
I went up to our room and took a breath, "Liv. I can't take this anymore. You need to tell me what's going on?" She handed me a handkerchief and I recognized it from when she told me about Marisol. "Liv you know that I love this but..." She looked up at me, "I know that we lost Marisol, but we made it 3 months with this one." I looked up at her, "You're-You're"
She nodded her head, "I'm pregnant again." "How... when..." I started as I looked at her but I shook off all the questions as I wrapped her in a hug. I couldn't believe this was happening. I pulled away and looked down at her, "You are not leaving this house or doing anything stressful for the next 6 months." She laughed, "Ok." "So you being sick?" "Morning sickness," she said nodding her head. My mind was running and I turned to face her, "Wait 3 months!" She nodded her head, "I didn't want to tell you in case I lost the baby again." I shook my head, "Please don't do that to me again." She nodded her head, "Alright I won't but are you happy?" I wrapped my arms around her, "Of course I'm happy. I love you so much Liv." I closed my eyes as I held onto her a little bit tighter... as I held onto both of them a little bit tighter. Please, please keep these 2 safe.
(Olivia POV)
- 6 months and 2 weeks later -
Camilo laid down next to me as we looked down at our daughter. "She is so beautiful," I said as I stared down at her. Camilo whispered, "We just need to figure out what to name her." We heard a knock on the door and Camilo went to see who it was. Daniela walked in and smiled, "Yes another girl we outnumber them again." I laughed as Camilo brought her closer to us, "Hi Marisol." I looked at Camilo and back at Daniela. Neither of us were sure if we should name her Marisol, because Marisol was the baby we lost.
I shook my head, "Daniela, Marisol is the person that you can only talk to." She shook her head, "No. She told us she would meet us again one day. It's today." I looked at Camilo. "Daniela can you see my loved ones right now?" She nodded her head and grabbed onto Camilo, "Do you see Marisol?" She shook her head, "No, she is in your arms right now." I felt myself crying as Camilo wrapped an arm around me, "We got her back." I whispered. He nodded his head, "Yeah we got her back." He kissed the top of my head, "I love you both so much." I looked up at him, "I love you too."
- a few hours later -
Marisol had fallen asleep in our arms and I wasn't sure if we should put her in the crib or not. "Hey Liv," Camilo asked and I looked over at him. "I know we both talked about wanting kids, but we never really talked about how many we wanted?" I looked at him, "You choose this moment to have this conversation." He shrugged, "Well yeah." I leaned over and kissed him, "I love you." He smiled, "I love you too." I then looked down at Marisol and back at him, "I think I can handle 1 or 2 more." He wrapped an arm around me, "3 kids?" I nodded my head, "Yeah 3 kids."
(Camilo POV)
- 3 years later -
I went to find Marisol as she was playing with Daniela, Laura, and Valentina in the nursery where all the toys were. "Marisol, come on" she got up and walked with me to my room. Marisol looked over at the bed as she looked at Liv who was holding our son. Liv smiled over at us, "Marisol do you want to meet your brother?" She nodded her head and ran over to the bed.
I helped her up and we all sat together as Liv placed him in Marisol's arms, "What's his name?" I looked at Liv, "Yeah what is this little guys name? You haven't even told me what you wanted to name him yet?" Liv smiled at me, "Cameron." I started laughing, "I love it." Marisol looked between the two of us, "Why Cameron?" She smiled at me, "Why don't you fill her in?" I smiled as I looked down at Marisol. Liv and I had both agreed years ago on a kid friendly version of our story and I guess today was the day that Marisol was going to hear it, "Well if I'm going to tell a story. I guess I need to tell a story." Marisol and Liv clapped their hands as Marisol said, "Story time."
That was when the door fell open and Daniela, Laura and Valentina fell in. I sighed, "Ok get all the kids. We are having story time." They ran and came back with Pedro, Elio and Nicolás, and all the other kids as everyone came in our room. Liv took Cameron in her arms as Marisol leaned back in my spot on the bed and the other kids sat on the floor in front of our bed. I began to narrate the story planning on changing into all of the different characters.
"Once upon a time there were 2 families that did not get along except for a shapeshifter boy and a blind girl..."
