Darius ran through the jungle, his heart pounding in his chest as though it was going to burst out. He could hear Ben running beside him, trying to keep up.
We have to make it. We have to make it. We have to make it. Darius thought over and over again. The boat that the rest of his friends were waiting on was just at the edge of the forest that they were in. They all agreed before they left that if by sunrise he and Ben weren't there, they would leave the island. Darius and Ben had just left Bumpy behind with her herd of Ankylosaurus, and the Scorpius Rex. They just had to make it to the boat and they could finally escape Isla Nublar.
Darius pushed past the ferns and vines in the way, and what he saw made his heart soar.
The boat was still there. Even though it was sunrise.
"Darius!" He looked up and saw Brooklyn pointing and waving at him. The other people spotted him and Ben and started to wave as well. Darius quickly looked over his shoulder to check that Ben was still there, and when he was, continued to run to the boat. When they jumped on, they all hugged in relief and happiness. Kenji left a bit later to drive the boat away from the island. As they were happily talking, Brooklyn stopped suddenly. "What?" Asked Darius. She pointed behind him, and when he and everyone else turned around to the disappearing island, they saw the Scorpius Rex roaring on the beach. It looked like it couldn't swim, as it was angrily prowling back and forth. That caused another round of cheers from the campers, grateful that they had truly survived Isla Nublar.
When Darius woke up the next day, something seemed… different. He looked around at the boat, aware that the rest of his friends were still asleep. First off, the boat looked like it had… shrunk. But that's impossible, he thought as he looked at the ocean. That was the next weird thing. The ocean looked cleaner, and more blue. That was weird. They had set off towards the mainland, Costa Rica, but there was no trash, or anything that indicated human activity. Then the boat shook violently, and a large cracking sound caused Darius to cry out in fear, causing the other campers to wake up immediately.
"What's going on?!" Yelled Yasmina as another shake occurred.
"I don't know!" Darius exclaimed. "Does anyone know where we are?"
"Uh, guys?" Sammy asked nervously. Another, bigger shake occurred, and the rest of the campers made their way to her, looking where she was pointing. It was an island. But not one that looked like Costa Rica or any place Darius had ever seen. And they were rapidly approaching it, too fast to slow down.
"Brace yourselves!" Darius yelled, grabbing onto the side of the boat. The rest of his friends did the same, grabbing anything that they could see. A few seconds later, the boat crashed straight onto the white, sandy beach, causing the biggest shake they had felt. When the sand and dust had cleared, Darius coughed, trying to clear it out of his throat. "Is everyone okay?" He asked, looking around. Everyone stood up and balanced themselves out as they coughed and nodded at him. Darius looked down and jumped onto the sand, trying to figure out what happened. Everyone followed in pursuit, looking around at their surroundings. One thing that Darius noticed was that this island wasn't just sand. It had a huge snow capped mountain, and a thick forest.
"Where are we?" Darius asked, breathing in the sights. "I have no idea," Kenji replied. "I followed the compass towards Costa Rica, but I don't remember an island in between." Darius looked back at the boat, and gasped. The hole in the boat that they had sealed ages ago had burst, and had increased in size. Even if they had more of the seal, they wouldn't be able to seal a hole that big. He looked and gaped at the rest of the boat. It was completely torn apart, pieces of metal scattered everywhere. Everyone else turned towards him and gasped at the boat.
"Grrrreat," Kenji said sarcastically. "Now we've escaped one island to get trapped on another." Darius turned back to him. "It can't be that bad," he said, trying to lift everyone's spirits. "At least there won't be any dinosaurs trapped on this island with us, right?" Then, almost on cue, there was a grunting, growling noise coming from inside the boat. Everyone screamed, and looked at Darius as if to ask, "You were saying?" Darius cautiously approached the boat, and grabbed a stick on the beach to defend himself.
He could hear Ben grabbing his spear, and the other campers grabbing anything to defend themselves. He continued to walk towards the source of the sound, the door connecting to the storage compartment. As the campers surrounded the door, Darius looked back, and they nodded at him. He took a deep breath and opened the door. A blur of pale blue-green burst out and leapt at Ben. Darius sharply turned around to defend his friend… to find the creature licking Ben on the face over and over again. "Ugrh! Stop!" Ben was trying to say, and when Darius looked at the creature's colouring, he realised something.
"Bumpy?" Ben asked as she finally stopped. Darius shook his head and stared at her. She had the same colours as Bumpy, but something was off about her. She wasn't an Ankylosaurus. She had a round shape, a bludgeon-like tail, and a round spherical head, with strange bumps all over her. But that wasn't the weirdest part. As Darius looked at her back, he saw that she had wings. Small ones, but wings nonetheless. "Guys," Darius started. When everyone turned to him, he inhaled sharply and continued.
"I don't think we're in Costa Rica's oceans."
Hello, there! I've always wanted to make a crossover between these two shows, to see what would have happened if they interacted! Anyways, I had fun writing this, hope you enjoy! :D
