Note: Gilmore Girls is a WB/CW show that was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Rory Gilmore was in her last year of college. Things had been looking up for her. She was getting great grades, she got along with all of her teachers and most of her classmates tolerated her. Even her rival from high school, Paris Geller, became friends with her. In fact, Rory and Paris had started working together on a college project. Their college project involved the two of them reviewing books in a series of web videos called "At the Library With Geller and Gilmore."

It had become clear that Paris no longer thought of Rory as a rival. However, that didn't mean that she and Rory always got along. Despite how mature and organized Rory was, even she thought that Paris often took things too seriously. Paris often acted annoyed by Rory and her mother's antics. Deep down, she cared about Rory, but she didn't do the best job at expressing that.

One afternoon, Rory and Paris were at the library of their college, so they could film their latest review. Paris made sure that nobody else was in the library, because she got easily annoyed by background noise. She even made the librarian go to the teacher's lounge. Paris straightened up her tie, while Rory calmly waited for Paris to be ready.

After several minutes of making sure that everything was perfect, Paris started recording the review on her cellphone. She looked at the screen, while looking stern and serious. She said, "Greetings, fellow lovers of literature. I'm Paris Geller."

Rory said, "And I'm Rory Gilmore."

Paris said, "Today's review is of The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz is often considered to be a classic piece of literature. Some people think that it's one of the greatest books of all time."

Rory replied, "It certainly is."

Paris shook her head, while saying, "I'm afraid you're wrong, my dear Rory."

Rory had a confused look on her face, while asking, "What do you mean?"

Paris said, "The Wizard of Oz is not complex and sophisticated enough to be one of the greatest books. It lacks a great deal of human emotions and proper growth to be considered a tale that's worth holding with high regard."

Rory replied, "But it's such a creative, cute story."

Paris could hardly believe what Rory was saying. She folded her arms, while saying, "Cute? Cuteness means nothing when it comes to literature. Great books are supposed to have shocking revelations about the meaning of life. The Wizard of Oz just has a weird girl dreaming about singing with a brainless scarecrow, a heartless man and a cowardly lion. That's not good storytelling."

Rory replied, "Not every story has to be super deep and realistic. There's room for stories that are colorful and fun."

Paris gave Rory a disapproving look, while saying, "Ms. Gilmore, this is supposed to be a dignified, insightful review. You're just saying a bunch of fluffy words that have no true meaning. It's about time that you give some constructive criticism."

Suddenly, Paris's cellphone started ringing. Paris looked down at her phone and saw who was calling. She angrily said, "I told Uncle Ross to only call me when I'm on a break." She muted her phone.

Rory said, "Anyways, I do have one piece of criticism."

Paris replied, "Well, that's good to hear. What is it?"

Rory said, "The Scarecrow not having a brain doesn't make sense. If he's not smart, how does he make all those fear toxins that he uses to scare Batman with?"

Paris stopped recording the review, while Rory nervously gulped. Paris turned around and stared at Rory, while saying, "These reviews are supposed to be serious. Instead of putting your heart and passion into making these reviews as good as possible, you're making cheap jokes. That Scarecrow reference was a sad attempt at humor."

Rory replied, "I'm sorry about that. You see, I was telling my mom that I was going to review The Wizard of Oz, so she suggested that joke to me."

Paris said, "Ms. Gilmore, you know better than to take suggestions from your mom."

Rory folded her arms, while saying, "Is there something wrong about taking advice from the smartest person I know?"

Paris said, "Of course not, but is your mom really that smart? I mean, she did get -"

Before Paris got a chance to finish talking, Rory said, "You can judge me, but you will not judge my mother. Do you understand?"

Paris had an amused expression on her face, while saying, "Whatever you say, Ms. Gilmore."

Rory raised an eyebrow, while asking, "Why are you addressing me in such a formal manner?"

Paris put her hands on her hips, while saying, "We might be friends, but when we're reviewers, we need to be serious and professional. That's why I haven't been calling you by your first name."

Rory said, "Actually, earlier in the review, you did call me by my first name."

Paris replied, "You must be mistaken."

Rory said, "I'm afraid I'm not. If you don't believe me, we can watch our review."

Paris replied, "Okay."

Paris started playing the review on her cellphone. Rory skipped to the part where Paris said, "I'm afraid you're wrong, my dear Rory." Paris had an embarrassed look on her face, while glancing over at Rory.

Rory gleefully said, "That sounded rather affectionate for someone who wants to be so professional and formal."

Paris sighed and replied, "It was a little mistake. I know that mistakes aren't acceptable when working on these reviews, so I apologize for my unprofessional choice of words."

Rory said, "Paris, that's nothing to apologize for. Besides, I don't want you to call me by my last name. We might be working together on a serious project, but we're also good friends."

Paris felt shy and ashamed, so she tried to change the subject. She sighed and said, "Let's not talk about names. We have more important things to focus on. We need to re-record that review of The Wizard of Oz. This time, you need to give actual criticism. If you make another reference to Batman, you will be in so much trouble."

Suddenly, Rory's cellphone started ringing. She looked down and noticed that her mother was calling her. She looked at Paris, while saying, "Mom's calling, so I need to answer this."

Paris replied, "No you don't. Ms. Gilmore, you and I are working. Your silly chats with your mother can wait."

Rory ignored Paris and answered the call. She said, "Hi, Mom."

Lorelai Gilmore was at Luke's Diner, while on the phone with Rory. She said, "Hi, Rory. How's your college project going?"

Rory said, "I think it's going pretty well."

Paris angrily replied, "It's not going as well as it's supposed to!"

Lorelai raised an eyebrow, while saying, "Paris sounds rather upset. Are you guys still working together?"

Rory said, "Of course we are. After all, I'm Paris's dearest friend." Paris frowned at Rory.

Lorelai said, "Rory, I'm so glad that you're doing so well at college, but I miss having you around. Things don't feel the same. Plus, I've been having the weirdest dreams."

Rory asked, "What's been happening in your dreams?"

Paris could hardly believe that Rory was talking about such things when they were supposed to be working. She tapped Rory on the shoulder, while saying, "We don't have time to talk about your mom's silly dreams. We're supposed to be making our dreams of graduating college come true, but that won't happen if you keep messing around."

Lorelai said, "Anyways, I've been having these dreams where I have a daughter."

Rory said, "Well, I think you should know that you do have a daughter."

Lorelai said, "I know that, but the daughter in my dreams isn't you. I dreamt that I had a vampire daughter."

Rory raised her eyebrows, while saying, "Wow, you have been having some unusual dreams."

Lorelai said, "That's because you aren't around to help me snap back to reality."

Rory replied, "Actually, I think it's because you've been drinking too much coffee. All that coffee fills your imagination with too much energy."

Lorelai sighed and said, "I suppose that could be true. However, I'm not going to reduce the amount of coffee I drink."

Rory said, "I figured that would be the case."

Paris angrily tapped her foot, while saying, "Ms. Gilmore, you're taking forever to get off the phone!"

Lorelai looked surprised, while saying, "Ms. Gilmore?"

Rory explained, "Paris thinks that calling me by my first name would be too unprofessional. I bet that Paris even acts dignified and serious in your dreams."

Lorelai said, "Well, I did have a dream where she was a mighty duck."

Rory tried to resist laughing, while saying, "You have the weirdest dreams."

Paris said, "If you don't get off the phone, I will take your phone away from you!"

Rory sighed and said, "My dear Paris is making a big fuss, so I better get off the phone."

Lorelai said, "Ah, we barely got a chance to talk."

Rory replied, "I'll call you this evening."

Lorelai said, "Sounds good. Love you."

Rory replied, "Love you, too."

After Rory got off the phone, Paris said, "You are unbelievable."

Rory smiled and replied, "Thank you."

Paris said, "That wasn't intended as a compliment! I thought you were one of the most serious students at this college."

Rory replied, "Doing well at college is incredibly important to me. My schoolwork is one of my top priorities."

Paris folded her arms, while saying, "Frankly, you've been failing to prove that. You have been joking around, in addition to wasting my time with all of these calls with your mother. If you actually want to succeed, you need to focus on what's important."

Rory replied, "The same could be said for you."

Paris had an offended look on her face, while asking, "What right do you have to say that to me? I have always been focusing on what's most important. I have been focusing on doing the best at all of my schoolwork and projects, so that I can get the best grades."

Rory replied, "Doing well in college is important. Even though you often get on my nerves, I respect your dedication to your work. However, there's more in life that matters than work."

Paris asked, "What are you talking about?"

Rory said, "For example, family. Family is the most important thing. My mother and I -"

Before Rory could finish speaking, Paris said, "I know that you and your mom are the best of friends. That's sweet and all, but it has nothing to do with our conversation."

Rory said, "Paris, when I agreed to work with you on this project, I didn't just do it because you're the smartest student at this college. I choose you to be my partner, because of our special relationship."

Paris replied, "You and I might be friends, but while we're working, our friendship doesn't matter."

Rory looked sad and a little hurt, while saying, "I'm sorry that you feel that way. I thought that you and I were getting rather close."

Paris could tell that she had gone too far, so she put her hand on Rory's shoulder and said, "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I know that I can be a bit intimidating and dour. Honestly, you often know how to push my buttons and drive me crazy. There's a lot of things about you that I could complain about, but I'm sure there's also plenty of problems that you have with me. Rory, I love you, so let's re-record this review, so we can be done with work for the day."

Rory could hardly believe what Paris had just said. She stared at Paris, while having a big grin on her face. She did, "Well, it's about time that you said it."

Paris rolled her eyes and said, "Yes, I called you by your first name. It's not something that you need to make a big deal out of."

Rory said, "I'm not talking about that. You just said that you loved me."

Paris blushed with embarrassment, while realizing what she had said. She looked nervous, while saying, "I meant that I love having you as a friend."

Rory said, "Paris, you might be the smartest student in this college, but I'm quite smart, too. I can tell what you meant."

Paris said, "Look, I don't want to get into this, so can we just re-record the review?"

Rory said, "Of course we can. By the way, I love you, too." Paris continued blushing.

A few minutes later, Rory and Paris started re-recording their review. Rory looked at the screen on Paris's cellphone, while saying, "Hi, everybody. We're here to review The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz is considered to be one of the greatest books of all time, but I believe that my co-host believes that the fame is unwarranted."

Paris said, "Well, I do think that The Wizard of Oz could use some more complexity and realism. However, it is a book that has meant a lot to generations of people of all ages. Personally, I think that the book has a few flaws, but I will admit that it does have some artistic merit."

Rory smiled at Paris, while replying, "That's a rather fair way of looking at things."

Paris responded, "Thank you, Rory."

After the review was over, Rory looked at Paris, while saying, "The re-recording of the review didn't go the way I was expecting."

Paris had a concerned look on her face, while asking, "Did one of us make a mistake? If so, we can go back and do another recording."

Rory calmly replied, "There weren't any mistakes. I was just surprised that you seemed fairer and more respectful when talking about The Wizard of Oz."

Paris lightly smiled, while saying, "I suppose that I have to give you credit for that. You did help me see things from a different perspective. That's what a good reviewer is supposed to do, so thank you for doing that."

Rory replied, "No problem. By the way, I noticed that you called me by my first name. I thought that doing such a thing was unprofessional."

Paris said, "Perhaps I was being too overzealous when I complained about names. Besides, you have a nice name."

Rory smiled at Paris, while saying, "Thank you."

Paris started packing up her stuff, while saying, "Things might have started off with a little tension, but overall, I think that the review went well."

Rory replied, "I feel the same way. Speaking of feeling the same way, are we going to talk about our mutual affection for one another?"

Paris said, "No we're not."

Paris was about to put on her jacket, but Rory set Paris's jacket on the ground and said, "We have to."

Paris said, "I don't think that there's anything that's worth talking about. We are partners that are friends."

Rory replied, "So, you have nothing to say on the matter?"

Paris responded, "That's right."

Rory said, "Well, if you have nothing left to say, I suppose I'll have to use a different type of communication."

Paris had a confused look on her face, while asking, "What are you talking about?" Rory gave Paris a quick kiss on the lips.

After a moment of awkward silence, Paris raised her eyebrows and said, "Rory, why did you do that?!"

Rory replied, "Because you love me, and I love you, so that seemed like the natural thing to do."

Paris folded her arms, while saying, "Rory, kissing on the lips is not something that friends do."

Rory casually replied, "Well, then I guess we'll have to be more than friends."

Paris said, "Rory, what has gotten into you?"

Rory handed Paris her jacket, while saying, "Let's go have a date at Luke's Diner."

Paris said, "Rory, have you lost your marbles? Why would the two of us go on a date?"

Rory replied, "Because we want to."

Paris said, "I don't want to date you."

Rory confidently replied, "I know that's not true."

Paris sighed and said, "I suppose a little date would be nice."

Rory replied, "Then let's get going."

Suddenly, Paris gave Rory a kiss on the cheek. She blushed with embarrassment, while saying, "I'm sorry about that."

Rory replied, "Don't feel sorry about that. However, next time, aim for my lips."

Paris said, "There won't be a next time."

Rory replied, "I don't believe you."

Paris lightly smiled, while saying, "Okay." She gave Rory a kiss on the lips. She intended for the kiss to only last for a few seconds, but it ended up lasting over twenty seconds.

Rory said, "I liked that kiss a lot more."

Paris replied, "Me, too."

Rory asked, "Are you ready to go?" Paris nodded.

A short time later, Rory and Paris walked into Luke's Diner, while holding hands. Rory and Paris sat down on a couple of stools. Rory looked around and noticed that her mother was still at the diner. She was drinking her twelfth cup of coffee of the day.

Rory looked at Luke Danes, while saying, "Unlike my mother, I haven't had any coffee today, so I could use of fresh cup of coffee."

Luke said, "We have plenty of coffee, but it's not fresh."

Rory asked, "What do you mean?"

Luke sighed and said, "Taylor has started selling his own coffee. In order for this new business to thrive, he insisted that I serve expired coffee for a few days."

Rory nudged Lorelai, while asking, "Why have you been drinking stale coffee?"

Lorelai said, "Regardless of freshness, I always want coffee. Plus, the stale coffee costs less."

Paris angrily sighed and said, "Rory, I can't believe that our first date is at this silly place!"

Lorelai stared at Rory and Paris, while looking quite surprised. She said, "You two are on a date?"

Rory smiled and replied, "We sure are."

Luke said, "It's about time."

Paris replied, "Excuse me?"

Luke said, "You two could never stop talking about one another, even when you two weren't getting along. It was obvious that you guys we're smitten."

Paris sighed and said, "Maybe it was obvious. Maybe I was too dumb to realize that I had some special feelings for a certain someone."

Rory put her arm around Paris, while saying, "That's in the past. You no longer have to hide how you feel. I love you for who you are. I hope you feel the same way about me."

Paris replied, "I do."

After having a cup of water, Rory and Paris walked outside. They shared another kiss. Both of them felt regret over the time they wasted arguing with each other, but those dark times no longer mattered. They were together. They were happy. As much Paris wanted to deny the truth, she could no longer deny how she felt. She and Rory were in love.
