Following the orders that larger Gor forced him to do, one Ungor archer picked up an arrow, dipped it into the oil, used torch to fire it up, got closer to fire the arrow and let it loose. As prize for his bravery, Wolf Guard shot him and he fell on the spot dead. But as if ordained by Khorne himself, his sacrifice wasn't in vain.

The arrow managed to went across the wall and hit one of the guardsmen present on the wall. As his clothes went up in flames, one of his friends immediately helped him by removing the arrow from guardsmen's body, taking off the burning coat and dropping it down on some kegs. Unfortunately, they never got the opportunity to seek help.

A number of empty powder kegs was on the wall as ammo was distributed before the battle. On two such kegs was the coat thrown at. At least, that was the assumption. To the misfortune of those two and to the horror of everyone else, for some reason those two were still filled with gunpowder. They never got the chance to learn of their mistake as the explosion tore them apart in pieces.

Dozen or so guards also laid on the floor wounded from the explosion. For a moment there, no shooting came from the wall as everyone scrambled to help. In the chaos that ensued, no one took attention to the screams of militia below until the Guard Commander realized what they were pointing at. "Oh, no." To the horror of the militia and to the cheers of the Beastmen, the explosion that happened was in the middle of the wall, right above the city gates. Now those gates were clearly warped.

As if taken by madness, the Beastmen archer lines dropped their bows and, together with other Ungors and the surviving Gors, made a mad dash towards the damaged gate. As the remaining guards rushed to prepare for fire, the Commander's order ringed clear. "DON'T LET THEM IN!"

Alex, after helping to take wounded off the wall and praying to the Goddess Shallya for salvation of those two that perished, returned on the wall to ask the Commander.

"Do we have any spare gunpowder?"

Commander couldn't help but sigh at what just happened. "Unless we are more unlucky, no."

Alex: "Any oil? What about flammables?"

Commander: "None. Those kegs weren't even supposed to be full."

As they were now in the throwing range, Alex threw one of his spears. "You know what to do. Focus the fire on the big guys." He then hurried down to the barricade, sensing they would be in problem soon.

Every guardsman tried to gun down as many as they could, but there wasn't enough gun to stop everyone from reaching the gate.

As Alex reached the barricade, the first bangs on the gate were heard. After getting a place in the front row, he put the shield on his back, kneeled down, leaned his head next to his sword and prayed to Sigmar for strength. Other militia were already praying to Kislevite gods. After he finished praying, he drew his sword and got into his fighting stance. As one last attempt of encouragement, he yelled to everyone: "Prepare yourselves!"

Guardsmen managed to kill two Gors and a number of Ungors while also wounding others. But that wasn't enough, as they finally managed to break down the damaged gate. One last reprieve for the militia was in the form of arrows as archers managed to get off a single volley.

After the first several Ungors were knocked down, one Gor rushed in with other smaller Ungors. Alex, wishing to distract the large beast, jumped over the barricade and made himself seen. It worked as he started charging at Alex. "Come'ere!"

Alex's answer to that? As he was in his stance and Gor was almost within arm's reach, he roared like a lion, stunning many in the process as no one expected it. As the roar ended, he sprinted towards the Gor, jumping at him with a knee directly into the Gor's stomach.

The Gor took a moment to wake up from the surprise. After regaining balance, he swung his axe down upon Alex. The knight quickly moved the sword, intercepting the axe and blocking it just centimetres away from his face, struggling to keep it away as the Gor kept pressing.

Thinking quick on his feet, Alex flipped his blade to make the impact on its side and not the sharp edges, allowing the knight to push on the sword upwards using the blade. He then then let loose a bit his strength in the hilt, sending the axe down to the side followed up by a quick push from the blade sending the axe into the ground.

As the axe got stuck, Alex hurried up while lifting the sword up and leaped into the Gor, thrusting the sword into his guts. The beast groaned loudly and pushed Alex away from it, making him loose the longsword from his grip, now stuck inside the Gor.

After being pushed away, Alex fell down, quickly sideways and getting up. He drew his spare arming sword and heater shield, ready for round 2. The Gor took the axe out of the ground and was running towards Alex. The knight responded with him leaping forward.

Gor swung his mighty axe towards Alex. The attack was blocked by the shield, making it heavily dented and sending Alex a metre backwards in the process. Alex quickly leaped forward again, punching the Gor's arm with his steel shield before pushing it into his side. The beast, unable to defend, couldn't stop the sword's thrust into his knee, making him fall down onto his knees.

In the clear showcase of dominance over his opponent, Alex took back the arming sword from Gor's chest, holstering it and the heater shield before grabbing the longsword from the knee and slicing the head off. The beast did threw one last act of defiance as his last motion hit Alex into the side with the blunt side of his axe, sending the knight to the ground and knocking the air out of him.

A nearby Ungor approached Alex while he was still on the ground trying to stab him. Knight's quick reaction, however, allowed him to parry the blade and making it so that it hit his heavily armoured torso. He then returned the favour by stabbing the Ungor in the chest.

That attack reminded him that he was still on an active battlefield so he tried to get his bearings straight. As it turned out, there was no need. The Beastmen morale was quickly breaking down. With their leaders slain and barricades still standing, there was nothing for them to do nor someone to lead them. In the end, they became easy prey to militiamen, who also left the safety of the barricades to mop up the enemy and guardsmen who were still gunning them down from the wall. The only time they stopped was when the cavalry arrived, making sure that no Beastmen left the killing zone.

The battle was over in matter of minutes as hundreds of Beastmen corpses littered the area around the eastern gate. They stood no real chance that day.

Now, with the threat over, the cleaning immediately started. The wounded were taken to the hospital to rest while others were carrying corpses away from the city and searching any useful items that they might have possessed. In the end, very little was found. Metals were brought over to the foundry so that they could smelted and used for more beneficial use for the city someday. Meanwhile, any and all wood and fabric that was found was used, in combination with alcohol and pyrewood, to start a massive pyre and burn away the corpses.

Meanwhile, the city returned back to sense of normalcy. As the noon approached, two merchants were having lunch at Merchant's House with the view on the smoke coming from the pyre. They felt a sense of relief at the sight in front of them.

Charsopir: "Beastmen... Never expected I would find them this far north. This was a cruel surprise for sure."

Evelina: "I knew they existed, but never saw nor wanted to see real ones with my own eyes. They really look disgusting and horrifying."

Charsopir scratched his chin. "You really think so? I think there's a certain beauty to them. Raw and animalistic. It's a bit like paintings. You know, the ones of wildlife and game."

Evelina was surprised by that. "You want to go out and hunt them l?! Have you not heard what happened to the Caravan that got ambushed by those abominations? Wiped out to last two men."

Charsopir turned his head to face her. "That is not what I've said. I compared them to paintings of game, not to game itself. I am sure some Beastmen are men of honour and valour, surely not all can be wicked and vile."

Evelina: "You... You really have a unique point of view on everything, don't you, Char? That can be dangerous, you know. Especially in the southern lands."

Charsopir: "Which ones? Araby? Lizardmen lands? Maybe Sylvania?"

Evelina sighed. "I clearly meant the Empire and Bretonnia."

Charsopir chuckled at her answer. "So, I guessed correctly then. You know, it is incredibly hard to hate other races when you are as mixed as myself." He bowed slightly. "Although I am aware Sylvanians would look upon me as a monstrosity."

Evelina made no reply to that which didn't went unnoticed by Charsopir so he continued with smirk on his face. "Do you have something to hide Miss Stromer, perhaps an opinion on my person?"

Evelina just waved her hand. "It's nothing." Then she stood up. "I have some important matters to tend to, Mr Char, so please excuse me."

Charsopir waved at her and then went back to looking at the scene outside the window. "They will all hate me, won't they?"

Evelina stopped in her tracks. "Not all, Mr Char. The common folks though do not have a positive opinion on Elves unless they interact with one, the fear of everyone out there coming to get us is omnipresent as ever."

The elf chuckled. "I thought you had something to do. I am not just an elf, you know?"

Evelina: "Yeah, I know." She then decided to change the subject. "I am off to meet the Boyar and discuss about getting the land I am going to need for the distillery inside the city walls. I don't want Beastmen lurking around and destroying my produce, after all."

Charsopir: "Farewell then. Oh, and if I heard it correctly, you don't have to worry about those one. They all perished."

Evelina: "I hope so as well." After paying for her lunch, she left the room. Meanwhile, Charsopir also got up, paid his bill and went to his room to check the records and estimate on how much money he should be making from the venture. Now that the danger had passed, it was again time for business.
