Hello everyone, in my NaruSaku Discord Server we started our first event, which obviously is for Valentine's Day. Now I want to do a quick update before the story starts. I just lost a family member this month, and it really has made me unmotivated to write, and also do my edits of Something Worth Fighting For, or continue any of my other stories as of right now. The something worth fighting for edit is on my Ao3 account under the same name. Now It's been a struggle physically and emotionally. That said, Also if you want to join my NaruSaku discord server leave your discord tag in the replies =)
Naruto Uzumaki, the hero of the Fourth Great Shinobi War, the savior of Konohagakure, will be alone and single on Valentine's Day. That might surprise quite a few people, but if Naruto was being honest with himself he was way too busy to try to be dating or worry about Valentine's Day.
He was finally home from another long political mission. Naruto hasn't really been home in Konoha in almost two years. Whenever he is home, he reports to the Hokage, gets his next mission, sleeps, and then leaves again. Naruto hasn't seen any of his friends except Shikamaru from time to time for his missions. He has no idea how their lives are, who might be married, who is dating who, what rank every one is, and especially how Sakura-chan is.
It was going to be a pretty awkward encounter for him when he saw all his friends again. He didn't know how he was going to explain to all them about him having red hair now. The only one of his friends that knows is Shikamaru since he's the only one that tends to see him on his missions.
Naruto finally decided after reminiscing for a while as he got close to the entrance of the village to head to the Uzumaki Clan compound. Not many people know about it, but the Uzumaki's did make a compound on the outskirts of the village. The compound was locked via a blood seal which just so happened to be pretty painful for him.
The seal would've killed all non-Uzumaki's, but for him it finally brought out most of the characteristics the Uzumaki had, like the red hair. Thankfully his eye color never changed. Naruto signed in quickly at the front that he was back, and ran on the roof tops to his home.
After taking a shower, Naruto was getting ready to take a nap, when someone knocked on his door.
"Who could be coming to see me right now? Not many know where I live, or the fact that I'm back home." Naruto said out loud to himself, as he got out of his bed and headed to the door.
"What are you doing here, Shikamaru? Wait Gaara, is that you?" Naruto said in shock, he didn't think anyone knew he would be back today.
"Hey Naruto, I just happened to see you running on the roof tops, and figured I would come by and see how you're doing." Shikamaru said, hoping their plan would work. Unbeknownst to Naruto, and a certain pinkette their friends were setting them up for a blind date.
"Hello Naruto, well I'm here to visit my fiance, which will surprise you who it is when I tell you. But what I'm curious about Naruto is when did you get red hair?" Gaara asked the now red headed jinchuriki.
"Well when I opened up the Uzumaki compound, let's just say the blood seal did a lot to my body, and it changed my hair to red." Naruto said, rubbing his hand through his red hair that is as long as his fathers now. "So, Gaara, who is your fiance?"
"A certain hyperactive blonde named Ino." Gaara said in his usually stoic voice. Gaara couldn't help but chuckle a little at Naruto's jaw dropping expression to the reveal.
"How did this happen? When, what?" Naruto said in pure shock, not knowing what else to say.
"Well, Shikamaru is finally engaged to Temari, and when I came to visit her during the rebuild of Konoha. One thing just kind of led to another and here we are." Gaara said with an actual blush, making Naruto drop his jaw again for Gaara to break his stoic facade.
"What are you guys doing for your lovely ladies today for Valentine's day?" Naruto asked, curious about what Gaara might actually do for a Valentine's Day date.
"Well Temari and I are going to be having dinner at the family compound, what about you Gaara?" Shikamaru said, hopefully setting up what him and everyone else of the Konoha 11 thought was a good plan for Naruto and Sakura.
"Ino and I are going to have a picnic, I think? What about you Naruto? Do you have anyone special for this day that we don't know about?" Gaara inquired, asking the question that Shikamaru purposely set him up to ask. Both him and Shikamaru couldn't help but notice how glum Naruto turned from the question.
"No I don't, but thank you for asking though." Naruto said with a sad smile.
"Well Naruto, what if we could set you up on a blind date with someone?" Shikamaru said, receiving a shocked look from Naruto.
"What do you mean blind date? Who is it, Shikamaru? Gaara?" Naruto said, looking at his two friends wanting an answer.
"You'll just have to show up and find out Naruto, but you do know them. Here's the reservation for two at the new restaurant in Konoha. Make sure you're there on time, Naruto, that's all we ask for." Shikamaru said, handing the reservation card over to Naruto for the new restaurant called the Jade Dragon. Naruto saw the time for reservation was for 6:30 P.M. Checking the time he saw had about four hours till he needed to be there, he said goodbye to his friends and took a quick nap.
It was now 6:30 P.M. Naruto made it to the restaurant a few minutes early, and sat at the table. Naruto wouldn't lie if he wasn't excited about this, he needed to try to get over his love for Sakura, and he's been looking for an excuse to wear his new sage cloak. His new sage cloak is a dark red color with black flames at the end of it. Besides the cloak, he was also wearing a very nice blue kimono.
Naruto was extremely nervous about who it could be and when he saw a potential glimpse at who it was. Let's just say he could help but let his jaw hit the table at the beautiful woman heading to his table.
(Meanwhile with Sakura)
Sakura just got home from a grueling day of surgeries at the hospital, when there was a knock on the door.
"Ugh who could that be? I just want to relax and go to bed." Sakura complained out loud to no one as she walked to the door and opened it.
"Hey forehead! Don't look so glum, I came here to talk to you about something so let me in!" Ino said, as she couldn't help but chuckle at the pinkette being annoyed with her.
"Ino, I'm really tired. It was really tough at the hospital today, and I just want to take a bath and go to bed." Sakura said as she let in her blonde haired friend.
"Nope, no going to bed for you my single friend!" Ino responded, shaking her index finger as she sat down on the couch. "You're going on a blind date my friend, and there's no backing out."
"What do you mean I'm going on a blind date? What makes you think I want to be dating anyone?" Sakura said, grumbling out the last bit being a little frustrated with her friend. Sakura would hate to admit it to her best friend, but she is the only one from her group besides Naruto that is single.
"You can't lie to me Sakura, you know." Ino said, chuckling at her friend's dispense. "Why would you bother lying to me? Especially since you know I could just read your mind."
"Oh yeah? And how well did that go for you Ino-pig? If I remember correctly, I knocked you out of my mind!" Sakura retorted with a smug look on her face.
"Whatever forehead, it doesn't change the fact you know I'm right. We're all taken, some of us are even engaged. It's time for you to start dating, and I have found the perfect guy for you. Well it's time for me to go see my hot Kazekage fiance for dinner, now the reservation for you and your date is at 6:30 P.M. at the Jade Dragon. Don't be late, forehead. Seriously, you'll have a good time." Ino said, getting up off the couch and headed towards the door and opening it to see herself out.
"Fine I'll go, but if you set me up with one of those weirdos in your department, be prepared to get punched into a crater. Bye piggy," Sakura said, holding up her fist as she watched Ino leave. "Well I got about an hour, I better shower quickly and get ready."
Sakura was putting the finishing touches on her hair, putting it up in a ponytail. She already put on her white kimono with sakura blossoms on it. She couldn't help but be excited, but nervous about this date. Sakura looked at the clock and realized she only has a few minutes until her date starts. She couldn't help but feel relieved that this new restaurant wasn't far from her house.
Sakura walked into the restaurant and went up to the host and asked shyly, "Hello, I'm supposed to be meeting someone for a blind date at 6:30 PM. Do you happen to know if he has arrived yet?"
"Yes the young gentleman is right over there, the one with the blue kimono, and red hair." The hostess said. Sakura's eyes followed where she was pointing to, and started to walk over there.
When Sakura first saw him, she couldn't help but think Ino has a thing for redheads now, but when she got a better look she couldn't help but think how hot he was. Then she realized, this man looked familiar to her, 'If Naruto was a redhead, then this is exactly what I would think he would look like⦠Wait, he has whiskers. No way, could this be Naruto?"
"Naruto?" Sakura said, with a jaw slightly dropped, because of how attractive he looked, and how his jaw was on the table.
"Uh, Sakura-chan is that you?" Naruto said after picking his jaw up from the table. He rushed up and pulled the chair out for Sakura. "I didn't know Shikamaru and Gaara set you up as my blind date!"
"Ino was the one that set me up on my end! Wow Naruto, you look really handsome, and do you mind telling me when you got red hair?" Sakura said, as they started conversing while they ordered food.
"Well after the war, you knew I started doing all this political training for Hokage, and well I discovered there was an Uzumaki Compound in Konoha. It was sealed via a blood seal, and well when I proved I was an Uzumaki it changed a few things, like my hair." Naruto said, as he pushed his hand through his hair nervously.
"I can't get over how our friends set up on this, I'm sure you didn't want to spend Valentine's day with your teammate." Naruto said with sadness in his eyes knowing Sakura would never return his feelings. Sakura reached across the table and took his hand in hers.
"Naruto, I think things would be so much easier if we were honest with each other." Sakura said with a smile on her face as she took a bite in her food.
"Okay Sakura, If we're going to be honest with each other. I have been in love with you since the academy days, and knowing your heart will never be mine has been tough." Naruto said sadly.
"And Naruto, I have been in love with you since the war has ended. This confession isn't a lie, this is the truth of my feelings towards you Naruto." Sakura said shyly with her cheeks turning pink from blushing.
Naruto was absolutely shocked at what Sakura just said. His lifelong wish had finally come true, Sakura-chan loves him. "You know Sakura-chan, I met my mother once when I was trying to tame Kurama in my mindscape. She told me to find a woman like her, and she was completely right. You're the only one for me. As much as I appreciate Hinata's confession, I could never be with someone as shy as her."
"Really, so that's why your dad gave me a look when I hit you over the head when you said I was your girlfriend. He was probably imagining your mom doing the same thing to him. Although Hinata is a sweet girl, your personalities don't mesh well at all. I'm happy we're being honest with each other, Naruto. I heard there are going to be fireworks tonight. Do you want to watch them with me?" Sakura said with a blush on her face when she finished.
"Yeah, but I can definitely see a bit of my mom and dad in you. My dad was really smart, and my mom did have a temper. Which reminds me of you, you're really smart, but if someone says something to upset you're really scary, trust me I know from experience. I also know the perfect spot for the fireworks, let's pay for the bill and head over there." Naruto said, as he put some ryo down for the bill and tip.
Naruto and Sakura left the restaurant, and they both had a suspicious feeling that they were being followed. What they both could sense was all of the Konoha 11 and their significant others were following the two to see how the date was going.
"You know Naruto, does it feel like we're being watched?" Sakura said, feeling agitated that their friends were spying on their date.
"You know Sakura-chan, I think you're right, but instead of confronting them. I know how we can get away from them without them following us." Naruto said with a smirk on his face.
"Oh yeah? And how would that be Naruto?" Sakura said out of curiosity.
"Do you trust me?" Naruto said, reaching his hand out.
"With my life," Sakura said with a blush as she grabbed his hand.
Naruto pulled her closer to him, and slid his arm around her waist. Sakura was about to say something, until they just vanished out of thin air, and re-appeared on a cliff.
"What? How? Did you learn Lord Fourth's jutsu? Where are we?" Sakura said in shock not noticing Naruto still holding on to her.
"That's correct, besides all the political training, I was still training as a shinobi too. I found my dad's notes on the jutsu and was able to finally master it about six months ago. So I put a Flying Thunder God seal on top of the Hokage mountain. You knew this was the place I always went to, to escape the villagers and wherever I needed to think." Naruto said as he looked into Sakura's beautiful emerald eyes.
"That's really impressive Naruto, I'm really proud of you. I look forward to when your dream finally comes true and you become Hokage." Sakura said, staring right back into Naruto's cerulean blue eyes. She couldn't help but feel hypnotized by his eyes.
"Thank you Sakura-chan, hopefully you'll be right by my side." Naruto said blushing, forcing a blush from Sakura. Instead of looking away, they both started to lean into each other bringing the heads closer together.
Finally closing the distance, Naruto got the courage and put his lips onto hers. All Naruto could think of was the fireworks going off inside his head, but there were also fireworks going off in front of them.
Sakura couldn't believe how gentle and sweet Naruto was with their kiss, but she knew she needed more and decided to be a bit daring and slid her tongue into his mouth, surprising him. After a couple of minutes of intense kissing, they broke apart.
"Wow," they both said, finally realizing fireworks were going off around them.
"Oh so I wasn't just hearing and seeing those in my head. Completely forgot about them." Naruto said, making Sakura giggle.
"Naruto-kun, I hope to be by your side when you finally become Hokage." Sakura said with a smile, receiving a foxy grin in return.
Naruto led back in and kissed Sakura as the finale of the fireworks going off.
The End
