30 Worlds: The Vanilla Voyages, Episode I: "A Cherry on Top"
BOOK ONE*TRACK SERVICE
With the systems tests finally complete, the Enterprise's mission officially got underway. It would be a day and a half until the Enterprise would arrive in the Unaligned World of Ultraman Z, so William and Vanellope decided that the time was right to consummate their marriage.
Their first stop was the Enterprise's Sickbay in order to see if William and Vanellope were genetically compatible for the purposes of procreation. "I'm a little worried, William," Vanellope said. "What if, because I am an ISO, we cannot have biological children?"
"Don't worry, Vanellope," William said. "Even if we cannot have children of our own, we can still adopt a child. We will have a family someday, one way or another." Vanellope, tears falling from her face, kissed William on the cheek.
A thought suddenly came to William's mind as he and Vanellope entered Sickbay. "There's no doctor on board yet," William said, remembering what he read before the bond formed between him and Vanellope. Vanellope then whacked William on the back of the head.
"Bakayarou," Vanellope said. "E.R.I.N., activate the Emergency Medical Holographic program." The image of a bald-headed humanoid male appeared in the center of the Sickbay. "Please state the nature of the medical emergency," the image said.
"No biological medical practitioner was available at the time of our departure from Spacedock, and we need a little help," William said.
A look of recognition filled the image's eyes. "Ah, yes," the image said. "Captain and Mrs. Edwards. What seems to be the problem?"
"We need testing to see if we're genetically compatible for having children," Vanellope said. "Of course," the image said. "Please follow me and we'll get started."
William and Vanellope followed the image into another room, where the image picked up a hypospray and inserted an empty sample container into it. "I'll just need a blood sample from each of you," the image said.
"I'll go first," Vanellope said. William gestured for the image to proceed. The image placed the tip of his hypospray against Vanellope's arm and pressed a button. The sample container became filled with a red liquid that appeared strangely luminescent at certain viewing angles.
As the image replaced the now-filled sample container with a fresh and empty one, he mused, "Interesting. I have access to the historical records in this vessel's computer, and it mentions a being called Quorra. According to the reports, she too has blood that looks like this."
"Doctor, can you keep a secret?" William said. "Tch," the image scoffed. "I am bound by doctor-patient confidentiality, the same as any biological doctor."
"Well, Doctor, Vanellope is an isomorphic algorithm, same as Quorra is," William said. "You can see why we are concerned about the matter of being genetically compatible." "I completely understand, Captain," the image said. "Your arm, please."
William moved so that the image could take the blood sample he needed. The image then placed the two samples on separate scanners. On a nearby wall-mounted viewscreen, Vanellope's genetic code and William's genetic code were linked by tracer lines which glowed green.
"Good news, you two," the image said. "You two are perfectly compatible." "Thank you, Doctor," William said. "Even though we just officially got married, there shall come a time when we will want to start a family. And you have just made that dream come closer to reality."
"It's what I have been programmed to do," the image said. "But your service demands that we honor you in whatever way we can," Vanellope said. "Name any boon we can provide you, and it shall be granted."
The image closed his eyes. Then he spoke again. "When I was first installed and tested by Princess Scarlett, she told me of a holographic doctor like myself aboard a ship called Voyager," he said. "He had the same rights and privileges as any other organic member of Voyager's crew. My request is simply that you allow me to be the same."
"A simple matter," William said. "E.R.I.N., this is Captain William Edwards of the Dimensional Defense Vessel Enterprise. Under the authority vested in me by Princess Scarlett Katherine Felchenerow of Cinnabar, I hereby declare the Emergency Medical Holographic Program of the above-named vessel to be a full member of its crew with all rights, privileges and responsibilities thereto as of 1645 hours, 17 seconds this date under the name...Doctor Zimmerman."
"Voiceprint confirmed. DDV Enterprise Emergency Medical Hologram has been registered as a member of the ship's crew under the specified name," E.R.I.N. said.
The newly-christened Doctor Zimmerman smiled at William. "Thank you, Captain," Zimmerman said. "And as your billet, we name you the ship's Chief Medical Officer," Vanellope said. "You said you wanted to be the same as Voyager's Doctor."
"Thank you, Mrs. Edwards," Zimmerman said. "Just call us by our first names, unless our contact is in an official capacity. Consider that your first order," William said.
"Aye, sir," Zimmerman said. "I shall have Felix and his engineers place priority on checking the holographic systems and providing you with a portable emitter for situations when you must leave the ship to perform your duties," William said.
"Thank you again," Zimmerman said. "One more thing," William added. "E.R.I.N., does the order regarding Doctor Zimmerman extend to granting him the ability to self-apply conditions for the activation and deactivation of his program?"
"Affirmative," E.R.I.N. said. "Good," William said. "Have a nice day, Doctor."
"To you as well," Zimmerman said before William and Vanellope left Sickbay.
The next port of call was the Rec Deck. William and Vanellope wanted to visit Vanellope's old friends from Sugar Rush.
Taffyta Muttonfudge smiled, then ran to hug Vanellope. "Sorry we weren't at the wedding," Taffyta said. "But we had to go back into Sugar Rush in order to ensure everything survived the transition to being connected to Enterprise's systems."
"And?" Vanellope asked. "Sugar Rush is better than ever," Minty Zaki said. "But Sugar Rush just hasn't been the same without you," Rancis Fluggerbutter said. "Nor will it ever be," Taffyta said. "So, who's the lucky Mr. von Schweetz?"
Vanellope gestured for William to join her. "This is my husband, William Edwards. He is the captain of the Enterprise," Vanellope said. "It's a pleasure to meet you all," William said. "Vanellope has told me such wonderful things about you."
"As for why we came down here, there's something we need to tell you," Vanellope said. "We've just been to Sickbay, where Doctor Zimmerman told us we can have children."
"Vanellope just wanted you guys' permission," William said. "Even after she left you all to join Slaughter Race, she still considers you her best friends...nay, her family. As such, she felt it only proper to seek your blessing."
Taffyta smiled. "You're just like her, William," she said. "When she left Litwak's and Sugar Rush to go to Slaughter Race, she sought our blessings then, too."
Taffyta gestured for William to look at her eye-to-eye. "But if you do even one thing to harm her, I'll ram a giant lollipop right up your..."
Rancis put a hand on Taffyta's shoulder. Taffyta broke eye contact with William and turned to look at Rancis, who said, "Taffy, I'm sure William gets the idea that if he harms Vanellope, we would be severely disappointed in him."
"Of course I get the idea, Rancis," William said. "I swore to love Vanellope and give all that I am—even my life if necessary—to her. Would I really want to hurt the woman I plan on spending the rest of my life with?"
"Of course not," Taffyta said, turning her attention back to William. "All right. Just take care of her." William hugged Taffyta, shook Rancis' hand, then took Vanellope by the hand and led her out of the Rec Deck.
Outside their quarters, William looked at Vanellope. He then reached down and picked Vanellope up in his arms. William smiled at the squeak of surprise by Vanellope as he carried her, bridal-style, into their new combined quarters.
"It's a tradition," William said before gently placing Vanellope on the bed. As William moved off to a nearby replicator terminal, Vanellope looked over and saw a message on a nearby table.
Vanellope-
Go to the washroom. There is something there to make your wedding night extra special. Something like it made my wedding night with Felix one for the history books. May yours be just as memorable.
Tamora
"Listen, William, you mind turning your back towards the washroom? Apparently, Tammy put a little something for me to use on our wedding night in there, and I want whatever it is to surprise you," Vanellope said.
"All right," William said before doing as he was asked. Vanellope blew him a kiss before making her way to the washroom. William began to wonder what Sgt. Calhoun had in mind.
Finally, William heard the washroom doors slide open. "You can turn around now," he heard Vanellope say. And so William turned around to see...Vanellope in minty green-colored lingerie that left very little to the imagination.
William gasped. "Like what you see, hun?" Vanellope said. "Uh...yeah," William said. "And it's only for you," Vanellope said before using her glitch powers to strip William down to his boxers in the blink of an eye.
In that moment, Vanellope nearly fainted when she saw William's toned body. "Like what you see?" William retorted.
William and Vanellope's lips met in a moment that made both literal and figurative electricity course through their bodies. Then, the two lovers fell to the bed and began to explore.
The next morning, William woke up to a beeping from the Enterprise's communications system. He saw that both he and Vanellope were still naked from the events of the previous night. With a free hand, William reached out and tapped a control on their bedside nightstand. "Edwards here. Go ahead," William said.
"This is Sergeant Calhoun, Captain," Calhoun said. "We are approaching the dimensional interphase coordinates for the Unaligned World of Ultraman Z. We should be exiting the dimensional fold in thirty minutes." "Very well, Tamora," William said. "What is the ship's status?"
"There was a minor energy surge last night on Deck 5, Section 3144, but any damage resulting from said energy surge has already been repaired," Calhoun said. "No other information to report. Uh, sir, the energy surge emanated from yours and Vanellope's quarters. What were you two doing last night?"
"Personal business," William said. "Ah. I see," Calhoun said. "Calhoun, out." As soon as Calhoun closed the channel, William turned his attention back to the woman sleeping next to him in bed. "Vanellope, wake up," William said.
Vanellope's brown eyes opened. "Uh. Good morning, William," she said. "Good morning to you too, Vanellope my wife," William said. "Time to wake up. We'll be arriving in the Unaligned World of Ultraman Z in about fifteen minutes."
And so, William and Vanellope got into and took a long shower, then got dressed for the day's work. At last, the true work of protecting the multiverse was about to begin.
