Summary: In the winter, all kinds of fun can be had. Ken and Daisuke aren't any exception.

"I'm here!" Daisuke declared as he entered, V-mon greeting Wormmon as always. Ken's eyes brightened just at the sight of his boyfriend and came over to drop a kiss on his lips.

"You didn't have to come. The weather's not that great," Ken gently admonished him. Daisuke waved one hand carelessly.

"I got here before it got really bad. And if we have to, we can duck over to the Digital World for a while." The flash of light in Daisuke's eyes warmed Ken right down to the bone and any irritation he would have felt just faded away.

Daisuke glanced around the apartment, then back to Ken. "Are your parents here?"

"No, they're visiting some friends for a few days." Ken's cheeks tinged red. "Mother did say that we should – enjoy ourselves." That was all that she'd said, but the way she'd said it made Ken think that she didn't just mean have a good time with a snowball fight or something.

Not that he would mind a snowball fight. The way the clouds thickened and rolled outside indicated that tomorrow would probably be an excellent day for one. But now didn't feel like the right time.

Daisuke nodded, then set the bag he'd brought along on the floor. "Well, are you ready? Do you want to?"

Somewhere in the back of Ken's mind, his logical thoughts vanished, replaced by startled gibbering. He fought that back and remembered, with effort, what they'd already planned. He nodded, darted down to his room, and came back with a bag of his own.

The moment Daisuke saw it, he grinned wildly. "All right! Let's go!"

Ken nodded, reaching for his jacket. They'd been planning this ever since they'd found out how cold it was going to be tonight. There was a circle of ice about three streets over, where the locals gathered to skate whenever the weather allowed, and the two of them, along with their partners, headed over there.

I hope I don't make too much of an idiot of myself. It had been a while since he'd ice skated. It had been Daisuke, of course, who'd introduced him to it in the first place. For all that Daisuke savored the sun and radiated heat and light like a small furnace, he took to winter just as easily.

But it had been a while since he even attempted skating, and he wasn't sure of how much his body would remember. But he would make an attempt. All Daisuke had to do was smile at him and he would have attempted to sprout wings and fly.

They weren't the only people there when they arrived. Ken recognized a few other people from his high school, some of whom waved at him when they recognized him in turn. Daisuke waved back; in the last few months the word about the two of them dating had spread around, though Ken wasn't at all sure how it got out. A tiny part of him suspected it was V-mon. A few of the other students also had Digimon, and Digimon chatted with one another just as much as humans did.

At least no one had said anything to him about it, other than to ask if it were true. Ken more or less suspected that the two of them being as famous as they were helped with that. He wouldn't be surprised if there were those who believed this was just a sort of 'childish' thing. Most of the teachers were of that mindset, but ever so slowly viewpoints changed, and he knew that he wasn't going to ever abandon Daisuke.

So for now they settled down and got ready, lacing up their ice skates, and making sure their partners were with the other Digimon where they'd be safe and warm. V-mon regarded him carefully as they settled in by the fire.

"You make sure Daisuke doesn't get hurt!" The little blue Digimon demanded. Ken nodded quickly.

"I will!" All of them remembered that time a few years earlier when they'd been trying to skate, and Daisuke slipped. Nothing serious had come of it, but Ken would not forget the icy fear that closed around his heart seeing him go flying over the ice, utterly without control, and slamming into a thick pile of snow.

But now was different. Daisuke was older, taller, stronger, and Ken would be right there this time. Together the two of them headed onto the ice, and Daisuke started to skate, moving along smoothly and fluidly. Ken joined him, their hands wrapped around one another as they worked on catching their balance and getting comfortable.

Eventually they reached the point where they could skate alone, and Ken worked on getting faster, making sure that he didn't bump into anyone else, and sped along, breathing deeply and quickly, trying out a few spins and jumps. He didn't have the same talents that he'd had when the Spore was active, but some things remained on a bit of a lower level, if he made the effort.

Daisuke caught up with him, not as clumsy as he'd been the first time Ken had ever seen him skate, though not fluid and graceful as Ken knew he could be on the soccer field. But he admired the view, skating along casually, and Daisuke kept up with him, eyes bright and happy.

"Are you having fun?" Ken asked, skating along, darting away as someone wove towards him.

"Did you think I wouldn't be?" Daisuke teased. He spun around, picking up a fraction of speed, and Ken kept ahead of him without much effort. Ken had to laugh.

Then he pushed forward even more, spun as well, and caught Daisuke in his arms, pulling the two of them closer before he touched their lips together softly. Daisuke froze for a second, then started to return it. There were people watching, though some politely turned to talk among themselves, and a few who wandered off to do something else without making it look as if they were doing just that.

Ken finally pulled apart. Daisuke's eyes were glazed and a bit dreamy, and it took him a moment to realize that they weren't kissing anymore. He pouted for a second, and Ken chuckled.

"Come on. Let's go get something to eat." He knew a couple of very good restaurants in the area, and he wanted to make sure that Daisuke had the very best day of his life. For now, and for as often as Ken could manage it.

The End
