Day ten only four more left and this special will be complete. Does anyone remember the Midnight Game Creepy Pasta? I do I was daydreaming to myself when this prompt came into my head. So, I had to write it down with that said enjoy the story also minor blood warning no one is hurt its part of the ritual and it's only for a sentence or two but if your screamish it's easily skipped. :)

When Dakota invited her friends over for a sleepover, she expected it to be the same old routine. Watch a movie, eat snacks, and stay up way past their bedtime. What she wasn't expecting was Emily suggesting to everyone to try the Midnight Game. It was becoming a tread for YouTubers to play the forbidden ritual, Dakota, herself, while intrigued with the creepypasta, wasn't about to dive into anything dangerous, especially if something decides to stay behind and haunt her and her family till they move out.

"So, has anyone heard of the Midnight Game?" Emily asked,

"I have. It's becoming a pretty popular scary story," Cindy replied,

"What's the midnight game?" Amy questioned who was the group's skeptic, "Sorry, I don't go on the creepypasta side of the internet."

"Well, according to legend, the Midnight Game was used to punish those in the Pagan religion. Anyone who disobeys their law will be visited by the Midnight Man, a shadowy being who loves catching his prey and showing them their worst nightmares." Emily explained in a spooky tone,

"I've heard of that story." Chloe said, raising her hand, "It's along the same lines of Bloody Mary, The Kings Game, and Charlie Charlie. I've always been intrigued with the premise but would never dare play it."

"Well, there's no time like the present." Emily smirked, "Let's play it tonight. What's the worst that could happen? We all know the story is fake anyway."

Everyone was a little unsure at first, but eventually, Emily talked them into it. Except for Dakota, who did not want to be a part of it.

"Come on, Dakota, it could be fun." Emily tried to reason, "Why don't you live a little for once. An adrenaline rush never hurts anyone."

"Maybe for you, but for me, scary stuff isn't my cup of tea." Dakota replied, hugging her pillow, "I do not want my parent's coming home to a shadow demon while we're running around risking our lives."

"Don't worry about it too much. The game isn't even real." Cindy came forward, placing a reassuring hand on Dakota's shoulder. "It's just a placebo effect to make people think there's danger. We're safe. There's nothing to worry about."

"If you say so, Cindy," Dakota said, still not sure about the game. The group set a timer for 11:50 and fell asleep Dakota, on the other hand, couldn't sleep. She was too afraid of what she'd face during the game. Finally, the alarm rang, and slowly everyone woke up.

"Alright, everyone, you got everything you need. The steps have to be completed by midnight." Emily questioned,

"Yes." They replied,

"Good, let's get this party started." She cheered,

Everyone got into position in front of the bedroom doors and started the ritual.

Step 1: write your full name on a piece of paper and put a drop of your own blood on it.

Dakota wrote her name and, using a push pin, dropped a smidge of blood on the paper.

Step 2: slide the paper under the door and knock twenty-two times. The last knock must be down at midnight on the dot. Then open the door.

With shaky hands, Dakota slid the paper under the door and started knocking. At the last knock, she opened the door giving the Midnight Man permission to enter her home.

Step 3: blowout the cradle and relight it immediately.

Dakota held her candle, blew it out, relighting it a second later, and went downstairs, where the group agreed to be their home base.

"So, everyone ready?" Amy spoke up,

"Yes." They replied,

"Good, here, take this saltshaker. If you fear your candle isn't going to relight, make a circle with the salt and wait it out until 3:33." The ginger explained,

Everyone nodded and split up into groups. For the first hour, nothing happened. The girls walked around the pitch-black house trying to scare each other, but when that got old, they just sat around waiting for something to happen.

The first half of the second hour was the same, except Cindy and Amy reported seeing a humanoid shadow in the corner of their eyes and drops of temperature in random parts of the house. It wasn't until the last half of the hour things started getting scary.

Dakota and Cindy were walking around when Cindy's candle went out. Before she had a chance to relight it, Dakota saw a shadowy figure grab her, and she fell into a deep sleep.

"Cindy, are you okay?" Dakota questioned fearfully,

Cindy's breathing got heavy, and she started shaking and talking in her sleep. "Go away, Mister Banana; I don't want your popsicles."

"Your greatest fear is the Banana Pop mascot?" The other questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"One down three to go. You're next, sweetie." A sinister voice whispered. Before Dakota could see them, she spun around and booked it downstairs.

"Amy, Emily! The Midnight Man got Cindy!" She yelled,

"Shh, if she's caught, don't let the man know we're here." Emily shushed,

"Oops, sorry." Dakota apologized, embarrassed,

"You shouldn't have summoned me." A voice spoke, "Now you'll all feel my rath. Eternal fear awaits you."

"It's him." Chloe trembled,

"Quick hide, we can't let him catch all of us," Amy instructed. Dakota hid in the shoe closet while the remaining girls hid elsewhere. Dakota opened the door a crack and was able to get a look at their chaser. He was indeed made of shadows and hovered two inches off the floor. His hair seemed spiky on top, and looked to be in his teens.

"Wow, for a being around a hundred years old, he looks young." She noted,

"Anyone here? I can hear your heartbeats so much fear, so much terror." He said, smiling evilly,

Dakota covered her mouth to hide her breathing and stayed still. The Midnight Man went outside, and Dakota took that as her cue to run for it. Heading back upstairs into the bathroom, she found Chloe hiding in the bathtub.

"Is he gone? I came up here to wake Cindy up and heard his voice." Chloe asked,

"No, he's downstairs chasing Emily and Amy. I booked it up here when he went into the backyard." Dakota explained,

"Oh, good thinking." The other smiled, "Wait is it me, or is it getting colder?"

The girls looked at their candles and saw them flickering.

"Quick, hide in my room. I'll lead him away from here." Dakota ushered, Chloe, nodded getting out of the bathtub and checking outside.

"Cost is clear. I'll see you in a moment." Chloe said, leaving the room. Dakota stayed to make sure Chloe got there safely. She was expecting the Midnight Man to come upstairs any moment when she heard Chloe's scream coming from her room. Dakota left the bathroom and was about to run downstairs when she became face to face with the Midnight Man, or should she say Midnight Boy. Now that he was in her candlelight, Dakota could make out the boy's features.

He was a young boy around the age of sixteen. He had spiky blond hair, a black and white shirt, and gray pants with a dark brown on the lower legs; he had a checkered wrist band on his right arm and golden eyes for a boy in a local legend. He was the cutest boy Dakota had ever laid eyes on.

"You're the Midnight Man? I wasn't expecting you to be so cute." She gasped, unable to take her eyes off the handsome boy.

"Thanks, I guess actually I'm not the original one from the legend. He retired fifty years ago, my family took over, and I'm currently in training." He replied,

"Do you have a name?" Dakota followed up,

"My name is Ventus. My friends call me Ven." He replied,

"Can I call you that too?"

"I don't see why not. After all, I'm off the clock in about twenty minutes. I won't be chasing you by then."

Dakota put her candle on the banister and got closer to Ven, reaching her hand out to touch his cheek. "You're solid. I was expecting my hand to go right through you."

"Yeah, that's a common misconception. I'm not made of shadows; I just look like it because I'm cloaked in darkness." Ventus replied, beginning to enjoy the closeness of this girl.

"Can I hug you?" Dakota mumbled,

"What was that? I couldn't hear you."

"I asked could I hug you?"

"Sure, I don't normally get hugs. But it feels nice when I do." He agreed. Dakota slowly wrapped her arms around the Midnight Boy and was surprised at how warm he was.

"Mmm, you'd be a great snuggle partner." She hummed,

"What happened to being afraid of me?" Ventus asked, smiling as he hugged her back.

"That was before I saw how cute you were. Now I kind of want you to stay." She replied, snuggling deeper into him.

"Well, that's a big request. But I guess I can make it happen when my job is done." He agreed, breaking away from the embrace.

"What about my friends? Are they going to be, okay?" The burnet questioned,

"Yes, they're fine. We never kill the players unless they committed a large sin. And even then, we need permission from the priest in order to proceed. You girls were never in any real danger. They'll wake up in the morning."

"Thanks, Ven; you know you're not as scary as I thought. You're pretty cool." Dakota complemented,

"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself." He smiled, "Now you better run. I'm still meant to chase you until everyone is caught. But I'll give you a head start."

Dakota nodded, gave Ventus one last hug, and ran downstairs. Emily and Amy were quickly caught, Dakota on the other hand, was able to stay hidden from Ven's gaze. Now that she knew he wasn't going to hurt her, she was able to relax a bit. Hiding by Amy's sleeping body, she saw Ven sneak into her room. Against her better judgment, she decided to follow there. Dakota saw him sitting on her bed, waiting patiently for her.

"There you are. For a second, I thought you wouldn't come." He smiled at her,

Dakota returned it and sat down next to him. "We agreed to meet up in twenty minutes. And since you put my whole group to sleep, I decided to show up early."

"It's not that early." Ven said, glancing at the clock that read 3:30, "You're only three minutes early. I say that's good enough."

Dakota laid down, gesturing Ventus to lay with her. "You know I was scared at first, but after seeing how nice you are. I'm glad I got to meet you."

"I am too. It's not every day I chat with the person I'm hunting. It's normally against the rules, but you'd be surprised how chatty I can be."

"Are you able to visit? I wouldn't mind speaking with you again." Dakota wondered, snuggling into Ven's chest,

"Yeah, I am, I'll need to get permission first, but it shouldn't be a problem." He replied,

The two chatted for a little longer before Dakota fell into a peaceful sleep. When she awoke, Ventus was gone, but chatter next door proved Emily and the gang were awake and discussing the early morning's events. The fourteen-year-old was about to join them when she saw a note on her pillow that read.

Sorry for leaving without saying goodbye. I had to get home before sunrise. Thanks for playing with me. It was fun, and sorry for scaring you; I'm not as unfriendly as I made myself out to be. I'll ask Aqua and Terra if I can come over tonight.

I look forward to seeing you again.

From Ventus 3

Dakota smiled as she left her room. Inviting the Midnight Boy into her home was the best discission she's ever made. And she looked forward to more midnight chats with her new friend.

And there you have it. I don't know if befriending the Midnight Man trainee is a good idea, but Ventus is kind enough. This is another AU I wouldn't mind expanding on in the future but no promises; Next prompt is Love Without Memories once again It's inspired by Werregix's post KH3 AU see you soon.
