Ch. 1

Tucker and Valerie rushed down the halls of Phantom's Keep. Formerly Pariah's Keep and home to the reigning King of Ghosts.

"Do you know why this emergency council meeting was called?" Val asked her boyfriend as they ran toward the meeting hall.

"No. I just got Danny's SOS. He didn't explain anything. That usually means it's bad." Tuck explained as they neared the hall. Val let out a sigh of irritation as the pair rounded the corner.

The pair came to a stop in the doorway when they noticed the other attendees. Frostbite, the King of the Far Frozen. Pandora, Queen of the Greek acropolis, and keeper of Pandora's Box. Dora, Queen of Aragon. Walker, Warden of the Ghost Zone. Undergrowth,
King of Vegetation. Clockwork, the ghost of time. Jasmine Fenton, Princess of the Infinite Realms and head advisor to the King and Queen. The Fright Knight, personal knight to the rulers of the Ghost Zone. He stood in the corner of the room behind the King and Queen.

Finally, the pairs widened eyes landed on their best friends. Danny Fenton and Sam Manson, otherwise known as Danny and Sam Phantom, rulers of the Infinite Realms. King and Queen of all ghosts.

Danny looked at them with a strained smile, "Hey guys, glad you made it! We should get started." With that, the pair rushed to their spots at the table. As ambassadors from the human world as well as Danny and Sam's Royal Guards, their seats were justified.

Sam sighed and looked to Clockwork after the pair were seated, "Will you repeat the information you brought to my husband and I's attention before this meeting was called."

Clockwork nodded as all eyes fell on the ever-shifting Master of Time. He held up his staff and a blue light shown from the top. A floating image that could be seen from every seat began to play.

"As you can see," Clockwork began, "The Observants, those who are tasked with overseeing the Infinite Realms, have abandoned their posts to organize a coup de ta, against his and her majesties. In a last effort to regain the power they gained due to the former King's absence."

"This is outrageous!" Pandora shouted, slamming her very large blue fists onto the table as the imagery dissipated. Those present at the table were unaffected by the giant Queen's outraged cry.

"Right so, the issue at hand is that the Observants have decided to plot against the Throne," Valerie noted out loud looking at those present.

Danny sighed leaning back into his chair, "As of late, we have been hearing rumors in the Keep's walls about gatherings in the Wastelands. Though we are not sure if it's related."

"I too, have been hearing rumors from my people, Great One," Frostbite added.

Dora abruptly stood from her spot and looked to the doorway opposite the one Tucker and Valerie had come through. Startling those at the table as she yelled, "Avamere! You may enter now." Everyone looked to the doorway to see a male ghost float in. Dora looked to everyone at the table, "This is Avamere, a citizen from my Kingdom. He has some information I believe will be very helpful to this discussion." She looked at the man, "Please inform this council of your experience." Dora said as she sat back down.

"Yes, my Queen. " Avamere looked hesitantly at the ghosts and humans at the table, "Well… I… I w-was heading t-to my friends h-home in…I-in Amity Park… home to his and her majesty… t-to deliver some f-food…" Avamere stumbled clearly terrified.

Danny gave the young ghost a relaxing smile, "Avamere, it is fine for you to visit Amity. As long as you or your friend do not bother the inhabitants," Danny said giving a pointed look to Walker and Undergrowth, "Then we have no issue with you going there." Avamere nodded and seemed to relax at the King's words.

"As I was returning from taking my friend some food… I came through the Fenton portal, into the Wastelands. As I passed through the lands to return home. I noticed many large groups of ghost beasts and monsters gathering… I was terrified. None of them seemed to notice me, however. They all seemed to be paying attention to something else… I was so terrified of such large groups of ghost beasts and monsters, so I fled as quickly as I could. When I returned to Queen Dorothea's Kingdom, I went to tell her of what I'd witnessed."

Danny sighed and rubbed a hand down his face, "This is a problem. They're too close to the portal."

Tucker looked at him, "We need to either move the Fenton's portal location or deactivate it. I doubt they'd risk attacking Amity knowing our track record but it's too dangerous to chance."

Valerie looked at Tucker, "If their goal is to remove Sa… The Queen and King from power… it is possible they would send some of those they've gathered to Amity in hopes of separating all of us."

Sam nodded in agreement and looked at Tucker as well, "Sir Tucker, how difficult would it be to relocate the portal?"

"Honestly, I'm not sure. I would need time and access to the Fenton's lab for what may turn out to be an extended period of time." Tucker explained looking at all his friends.

Danny groaned before leaning forward again, "We don't know how long we have though, and given Avamere's sighting I doubt it's much."

Jazz looked at her brother, "We still need to try. The only other option is to shut down the portal and I'm not sure how well that will go over either."

Frostbite looked at Danny, "Great One, I am aware that your relationship with the ghost hunters is… shaky… But could you not try to explain the situation and have them close it on their own?"

The teens looked at Frostbite with dull stares. Sam sighed, "I understand your good intentions Frostbite. However, the Fenton's have proven before what they would do if they were in close proximity to Danny."

Those at the table narrowed their eyes at the five at Sam's tone. Pandora growled, "What exactly have they done to you, my son?"

Danny looked at Avamere who hadn't moved from the foot of the table, "You may go Avamere, but please stay within the Keep, in case we need you again."

Avamere bowed, "As you wish my King." He then quickly turned and flew out of the room.

Danny sighed and stood turning human, "It's easier if I show you like this." He explained pulling his long sleeve, red and white shirt over his head.

Every ghost but Frostbite gasped as they looked upon Danny's scarred body. Long lines ran down his arms and across his chest. There were multiple small x's across his chest and arms as well.

Pandora's purple flaming hair grew in fury at seeing her adopted son's body, "When did they do this to you!"

Danny sighed, putting his shirt back on and turning back into Phantom, "When I was 15. A few months before I was crowned."

"Ghost King," Walker began, drawing the attention of everyone, "There are very few things that can inflict that much damage on ghosts. What happened?"

"It was a moment of weakness on my part." Danny sighed leaning back in his chair, "I had finished a battle with Vortex… and the Fenton's ambushed me. I was exhausted from that fight, and they knew it."

"Yes but… what could cause that much damage to you, my King?" Dora inquired.

"Ectoranium." Sam hissed clenching her fists causing everyone but Team Phantom to gasp.

Pandora was furious, "That is an extremely rare and deadly substance! How did they get ahold of it!"

Tucker glowered, "Plasmius no doubt. But they could have discovered it on their own. However, after the… incident… we made sure to confiscate every ounce of anything using or containing ectoranium. And deleted their data on it after copying it."

Danny sat up, "Which is why we think it best not to inform the Fenton's of this situation. Or of my status as a Halfa."

"Shutting the portal down might be the best option. They haven't seen fit to venture into the Infinite Realms before. However, if they so happened to want to venture in… the middle of an area where a war might take place is definitely not the best option." Sam said thinking out loud.

Dora looked at the group concerned, "But your Highnesses, it would cut off access to your home."

Sam smiled at Dora, "But it's not."

The ghosts looked at their rulers confused. Danny gave a half-smile, "The Zone is our home. It is where our daughter lives. Where our citizens reside and where we feel the most at ease. We only stay in Amity to finish out our time at school and wait until Sammy turns 18. Because in human terms she is underage and cannot be qualified as an adult. Which would cause many issues for us. But in this case, I don't think were worried about that."

"Because, if a war is brewing, we must stay and protect our citizens," Sam said with finality.

"Plus, we trust the Royal Guards to protect Amity on their own," Danny added with a smile at his friends.

Tuck smiled back, "We," he spoke, gesturing at him and Val, "have been assisting Da… The King and Queen with keeping the ghosts at bay. Since he first gained the status as a Halfa. So, I have no doubt in our skills to keep everything under control. However." Tucker said looking from the other members to his best friends, "Won't you need our assistance if it does in fact turn into a war?" He asked pointedly.

Danny sighed, "Of course we'd like your help. But the fact is, if we move the portal then ghosts will still have constant access to Amity and we'll need someone other than Jazz to be there. And if we shut down the portal then we'll need you guys to keep an eye on the Fenton's and whatever ghosts manage to make it through Vlad's portal. Either way, we'll need you to stay in Amity. But if we need you, we will most definitely call."

Jazz looked at her brother, "I think we should try to work with just moving the portal. And all of this is a worst-case scenario. We, as of the moment, aren't sure if a war will happen. We may be able to stop it from happening. Princess Danielle and I will only leave in the event a war does start. The Ambassadors, I'm sure, won't want to leave until they are required to return for human affairs." Tuck and Val nodded at Jazz's words.

"Right. That brings my next question, your Highness." Undergrowth said drawing all eyes to him, "What will be the first course of action. Because there is indeed a problem that needs to be dealt with."

Sam looked at Danny, "First, as many citizens as possible need to be notified of the Observant's betrayal."

"The ghosts who reside closest to the wastelands need to be notified first and they either need to move their lairs or guard their homes," Valerie added and the Royal's nodded.

"After that, we need to gather as much information as possible and set up an outpost close to the Wastelands to keep an eye on it." Danny said and everyone at the table nodded. Danny looked at Clockwork with guilt in his eyes, "How can we be justified to say they have betrayed the crown though. They did the same thing to Pariah, and I resealed him. Is this not the same thing?"

Clockwork shook his head, "King Daniel, the Observants are to oversee the Infinite Realm's greatest interest. The reason they summoned the ancients and were allowed to seal Pariah Dark in the first place is because he was detrimental to the Zone. When he took the place of the King before him, the Zone withered and died. Most areas became like the Wastelands due to Pariah's evil core. The Observants had him sealed because it was the best outcome for the Realms. You, my King, are just. And have many promising things in your future. You are not a harm to the Infinite Realms as evident by the Realm's quick recovery after your coronations."

"Exactly Great One! On multiple occasions, you have fought to protect both the Infinite Realms as well as Earth. You are what is best for the Infinite Realms now." Frostbite added getting nods of agreement from those at the table.

"The Observants know they are wrong, which is why they haven't summoned the ancients." Walker added shifting all eyes to him, "The Ancients are able to tell what lies in one's core. Pariah was dangerous and the ancients could tell. You are different."

Clockwork nodded, "They have become complacent and greedy about the power they held while waiting for a new King. That is why it is justified to call them traitors to the crown, as well as the Infinite Realms themselves."

The meeting adjourned not long after Clockwork's statement. Those in attendance agreed to meet in two weeks' time. Once more information has been gathered. And news of the Observant's betrayal has been spread.

After all ghostly attendees left, the group of five headed out of the meeting hall towards the East Wing. The East Wing of Phantom's Keep held all of Team Phantom's rooms as well as Danielle's. There was also a living area that was double the size of the Fenton's living room.

The group turned into the East Wing's living room and saw Danielle playing with some toys as a maid watched her. The woman looked up to see them. She stood up and bowed before leaving and Team Phantom moved around the room. Tuck and Valerie sat on the floor to play with Danielle and get long-awaited hugs from the excited four-year-old. Danny and Sam moved to sit on the couch just behind them. Jazz took the rocking chair diagonal from them, beside the fireplace.

Tucker looked at Danny, "One heck of an SOS there Danny."

Danny groaned, "No kidding. Sorry I couldn't add more info to that. We were in a hurry trying to call a meeting that fast."

"All good. It definitely was an emergency." Val said as she played dolls with Danielle.

Sam looked at Jazz, "So in the event a war does in fact break out…"

"I will take Danielle to Amity. I take my classes online anyway. I will be able to watch her." Jazz said giving a reassuring smile to her brother and sister-in-law, "It's the beginning of summer break back in Amity so hopefully we can solve this issue before school resumes. It's three months from now."

Everyone nodded in agreement, "I definitely hope so." Danny said as he looked at Danielle and smiled, "For all of our sakes."

Time flew for Team Phantom as the council met again and confirmed that the Observants had indeed been gathering the beasts and monsters of the Ghost Zone to fight for them. Many citizens began barricading their lairs, in hopes of protecting their homes from the war yet to come. Those that lived near the Wastelands quickly relocated their homes. The ones who didn't, armored their homes to protect themselves. Tucker, after help from Danny and Jazz, was able to relocate the Fenton portal closer to Pandora's acropolis. On the very outer edges of the Wastelands.

Danny and Sam were able to make time to go see her grandmother, with Danielle. They explained the situation, them being Halfa's, and that Danielle would have to stay in Amity in the event of war. Ida was thrilled to meet her great-granddaughter and wasn't in the least surprised about them being half-ghost. She admitted that she'd known for years. To Sam and Danny's shock, Sam's parents had come into Ida's room during the meeting and admitted they too knew their secret.

Surprising to Sam, the Manson pair accepted their daughter and granddaughter. And even asked to visit, which caused the Phantom couple to have to explain the situation once again. The Manson's agreed to help look after Danielle in the event of war. And cover for Sam's absences in the event they can't end the issue before school starts back. Though every Manson was very concerned for the Phantom couple and the dangers they may face. Right before the group of three left, the Manson parents requested to see where they were married and to see videos. Danny and Sam smiled mysteriously at them saying they could do one better but didn't elaborate.

Finally, in the middle of the third summer month, before school was to resume in the human world, the war began. Jazz took Danielle to Amity. The young girl cried for hours at not being able to go home or see her parents. The Manson's and Grandma Ida immediately went to see Jazz when they heard they'd returned. Tucker and Valerie remained in the Ghost Zone to help them fight.
