Ch. 2

Valerie walked into a tent near the center of camp. Right as the civil war started Danny, Sam and Pandora set up barracks and camps for soldiers that were tasked with helping fight the Observants army. Many soldiers had been sent from different realms around the Ghost Zone. Even some random citizens had come offering to help defend the Zone and the new Rulers. As Val pushed the cloth fabric from the door she was met with a curse.

"Dam it!" Danny hissed slamming his palm onto the table in front of him. Valerie looked at her friend's back, clad in black cargo pants with a silver belt. Form fitting, black long sleeve turtleneck, with silver collar and cuffs. A large, silver DP set in the middle of his chest, though Val couldn't see it, but she knew it was there. Crown of fire, now with white flames and a black crown, floating above his head. The former ring of rage now held the DP emblem in place of the skull, on the hand he'd slammed onto the table. She gave a half smile at how much he'd changed over the past few years. Stronger, more confident, proud yet humble, the air of a true King. He'd grown too. No longer the short, scrawny kid when they first met four years ago. Now he stood over six foot and was built like a tank.

She crossed her arms and smirked, "Cat and mouse chase not going well?"

Danny sighed irritability not looking at her, "Of course not. Because nothing likes to make my life easy."

"I don't think Sam would take that well." Val laughed moving to Danny's side looking down at the map that lay on the table. It was covered in red x's and blue circles.

Danny gave her a sideways glance, "Probably not," He laughed. Standing up straight and turning to face her slightly, "What's up?"

"Got the troops back from the last battle. Half were injured but managed to not get any life-threatening injuries. They cleared out the location and nothing was there," Val said tapping a blue circle on the map close to where the Fenton portal used to reside, "No Observants. Just a lot of angry Ghost Beasts."

Danny groaned and crossed out the circle before turning around fully. He faced the exit and leaned against the table, "Nothing really does like to make my life easy, does it?"

Val let out an irritated sigh of her own. She turned so she was leaning a hand on the table while the other was on her hip. The hand free hip resting against the table as she looked at him, "Nothing likes making any of our lives easy. It's been a month of chasing dead-end leads on the Observants locations. And they haven't even made a move yet! Just sent wave after wave of monster and beast ghosts! I wish we could communicate with them maybe we could get them to stop listening to the Observants… We've done well to keep injuries to a minimum though. Given we're in the middle of a war. But I'm not sure how much longer that will last."

Danny looked at her, "Well keeping injuries down is a priority. The ghosts helping don't get another chance and I'd prefer to not lose any citizens. But as far as talking to the monster and beast ghosts… it's doubtful. Even Clockwork said most of the monsters and beasts only want destruction. It's why they were banished to the Wastelands to begin with. Though, that was eons ago at this point. I really wanted to make peace with the ones in this area though. I was hoping we could fix it like we have the rest of the zone…"

Val gave a small smile at her friends good heart, "Not everyone can be helped Danny. It's nice you still have the want to help though. Who knows, maybe if we can find the Observants, you might get your wish. The Observants did or said something to them, that made them willing to help. That means at least some of them can reason."

Danny gave her a small smile of his own, "Thanks Val," He sighed and looked back to the door, "You and Tuck need to head out."

Valerie looked at him confused, "Excuse me?"

"The school year starts tomorrow." Val froze at his words.

Val shook her head, "Jazz has been doing fine keeping ghosts at bay in Amity. We can stay!"

"There's no point in you two staying right now. Like you said it's been a month and we haven't made any progress. You two should go back to Amity and start the last year." Danny explained. The cloth door moved to the side to show Tuck and Sam, "And it's not like were saying you need to stay away. It's just, these small battles we keep dealing with, me and Sam can handle. And until we find the Observants that's about all there is to do."

Tucker looked at Danny, "What about your last year? You and Sam are part of that to."

"We have to protect the Zone and our citizens Tuck, you know that. As much as we'd like to graduate, our people need us more." Sam said looking at him, putting her hands on her hips.

Val sighed and looked between the pair, "You're going to make us go aren't you." The pair nodded.

"I swear when we get word of the Observants location, we'll let you know first." Danny said looking between his friends.

Val and Tuck looked at each other and gave a begrudging shy, "Fine. But one of us will be coming back to check on you guys every few days." Tucker stated crossing his arms.

Two weeks had passed since the start of Senior year and still the Observants hid. Tucker was looking at his PDA when his girlfriend walked into Mr. Lancer's classroom. She noticed his concentration and moved to the seat beside him. She smiled lightly at him. He'd changed a lot over the years just like Danny. Still as dorky and playful as he was freshman year but physically, he was on par with their half-ghost friend. He wasn't as tall or muscular as Danny, but he was still well built. Tucker had become extremely knowledgeable in electronics but still loved his PDA.

"Tuck honey, class is about to start," Val said tapping his shoulder. He looked up at her and let out an irritated breath. She looked at him concerned, "What's wrong?"

"The cameras in the Fenton's lab have been picking up something weird the last few days." He explained and leaned over to show his girlfriend.

Her eyebrows knitted together as she watched the feed, "Why in the hell would they take apart the Specter Speeder? And why do they seem to be in a hurry?"

"No clue. Somethings up. That's for sure." He said and she nodded in agreement.

"Mr. Foley. Class is starting please put your PDA away." Mr. Lancer's voice called from the front of the room.

The pair looked up to see most of the class and Mr. Lancer looking at them, clearly irritated.

The pair just rolled their eyes as Tuck put his PDA in his pocket and the pair situated into their chairs.

Mr. Lancer cleared his throat gaining the class's attention back, "Alright class. Today's topic will be your senior trip. I know its early, but the trip the school has decided on isn't a normal one."

Val and Tuck got a sinking feeling in their gut. Giving each other an 'oh shit' look.

"This year's trip will be to the Ghost Zone!" Mr. Lancer announced with a smile.

Some students looked interested; others bored. That was until Paulina opened her mouth, "Will we get to see the Ghost Boys home?" Once students realized they might get to see where Danny Phantom lived everyone was thrilled.

Except for the clearly pissed-off students in the very back of the room. Lancer glanced at them and shuddered at their clearly angry faces. But he couldn't understand why they looked so angry.

He looked away from the pair and back to the class, "The reason I'm bringing this up so early is because we will be leaving tomorrow." Mr. Lancer said as he grabbed a stack of papers and handed it to each person in the front row to pass back. "Be sure to pack all things on this list. We will be meeting out at the front of the school before heading to Fenton Works."

The class cheered, while Tucker and Valerie wanted to rip them apart. The end of the school day didn't come quick enough as the pair ran down the street to Fenton Works.

"I can't fucking believe this!" Val all but screamed as they ran.

Tuck nodded in agreement at her anger, "Of all the times the Fenton's had to pick! It had to be while a war is happening!"

The pair practically knocked the front door of the Fenton's house off its hinges as they headed for the portal. They deployed their suits in the kitchen before heading into the lab, "And it's tomorrow! Where the hell did this even come from!" Tucker hissed as the pair ran into the portal deploying their hoverboards in the process.

Once in the Zone, they made a b-line for the camp. They hesitated as they got closer. They slowly flew through the camp only to find it abandoned. They looked at each other more concern building until a young ghost called for them.

The pair jerked around at the voice, "Sir Tucker! Lady Valerie! Did you receive the king's message?"

They looked at the young green ghost confused, "What message?" Valerie asked as the vizor disappeared.

"They found the Observants!" The young ghost said happily.

Tucker looked down at his arm and noticed the notification Danny had sent him and sighed. He looked at Valerie, "They sent that message at lunch." Val facepalmed.

"I can show you where they are! The King and Queen were worried when you didn't reply so they left me here in case you came by. They had to mobilize everyone before the Observants disappeared again."

The pair nodded with thankful smiles, "Thank you. Please hurry and take us to them." Val said as her vizor appeared again as the green ghost nodded and took off.

As the hunters reached their friends, they immediately went into battle mode and dove for their friends. Right as a ghost monster lunged at Danny's back, Tucker jumped off his hoverboard sending it into the monster's stomach. He landed in a crouch behind Danny who turned to look at him, "Hey Tuck! Took you long enough."

Tuck laughed, "Yea sorry man. Something else came up." Danny gave Tuck a confused look, "Tell you later." Danny nodded as the pair dodged a set of ectoblasts.

Val grabbed the ecto-guns off her hips and jumped off her hoverboard shooting some of the ghost beasts surrounding Sam. Val landed at Sam's side, "Hey Sam, need some help?"

Sam laughed shooting a fiery ectoblast of her own, "Definitely! Thanks Val."

Val turned shooting off a few more ectoblasts, hitting their targets spot on. Keeping an eye on the ghosts Val spoke, "Where are the Observants?" As soon as those words left her mouth a large boom resonated across the large floating island, "Never mind."

At the large explosion, Danny glanced at Tuck, "You got this?"

"Of course, go stop the Observants." Danny nodded at his friends' words and launched into the air.

"Sam!" Danny called from the air.

Sam looked up at her husband and looked at Valerie, "Go. Stop the Observants!" Val said without Sam even asking. She nodded and launched into the air beside Danny. The pair took off towards the source of the explosion.

"Are we going to use our command?" Sam asked as the pair raced to the source.

Danny grimaced, "I think we have to… I really don't want to though."

"I know Danny, but it will stop this fighting before we end up losing someone." Sam comforted and Danny nodded.

The pair saw four of the Observants in a circle with an explosion ring around them. Many soldiers laying blood and beaten around them. Danny and Sam spilt and landed on either side of the circle, shocking the Observants. Glowing green vines shot from the ground and encircled the Observants.

Danny moved closer to the group causing them to shrink away, "Where are the other two Observants?" He demanded. But the four refused to speak but each narrowed their large eye at the pair. Danny glanced at Sam who nodded.

She moved the vines so all four restrained Observants could see her, "I command you to tell us where the other two Observants are. You will not lie in my presence."

The Observants became uncomfortable as their bodies forced them to speak, "We don't know. They left us before the battle began. They flew off in the direction of Skulkers' Island."

Danny and Sam cursed. Danny looked at the four, "I command you to freeze. You will stay as still as a statue until The Queen or King of the Infinite Realms tell you otherwise. Or the Royal guards of the King and Queen of the Infinite Realms says otherwise." The four went completely stiff. The only thing they could do was move their eye.

Sam looked at him, "We've got them, but I think you'll have to command everyone stop, to end this battle. Once they've stopped, I can see if anyone else knows anything." Danny nodded.

Danny and Sam flew up until they could be seen from everywhere on the battlefield. Danny took a deep breath, "I command all those below us, to stop." As Danny's voice echoed around them, all movement on the battlefield stopped in an instant. Every ghost froze in place, and many looked terrified, "Those who have fought for the King and Queen of the Infinite Realms are free from the first command." The Beasts and Monsters growled and roared as they were forced to not move.

Sam took a deep breath of her own, "I command those under the King of the Infinite Realms control to be silent." Silence instantly rang under them as the Monster and Beasts mouths sealed themselves shut.

"I command those who side with the Observants move and stop under The Queen and King of the Infinite Realms." Danny spoke again once it was silent. The Monster and Beast ghosts flew and moved to where they were underneath Danny and Sam. Every single one tried to fight the command but was unable to.

Those who aided them let out relieved sighs as the fighting stopped and they were released from the command. Those who were uninjured helped those who were, to move out of the way and away from the Monster and Beast Ghosts. Many let out cheers because the fighting had ended. Tuck and Val recalled their hover boards and flew so they were slightly under and behind the Phantom pair.

Sam looked around at the opposing army, "I command those under the control of the King of the Infinite Realms command, who can speak and know information on the two missing Observants locations, to speak their knowledge now." None of the Ghost Beasts or Monsters answered Sam's command. Sam rubbed her temples in irritation, knowing their silence meant none of them knew anything.

Danny looked at Sam then back to the army below, "Those of you who have sided with the Observants have two choices. The first is to surrender and return to your homes and live in peace. The other option, if you continue to fight against the crown, is to be taken to the dungeons and await trial." Danny looked to all of them his eyes glowing a fiercely toxic green, "I command you to choose."
