"The two most powerful warriors are patience and time."
The purpose Chapter 56 A different goal
August 30th, 1975
Dumbledore gazed at the members of the Order of the Phoenix, especially at his new additions, the Potters. They had married in haste, knowing in what they were getting implicated, and were now under Alastor Maugrey's tutelage to be aurors. Albus was astounded at how James had matured considerably in the last year. He had brought Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew with him.
*I still can't believe it, that Lucius Malfoy of all people, has dared to approach me AND Lily and asked to join them.*Said James.
*What? How could he even think you would consider that anyway?*Asked Sirius.
*It does not surprise me, Lucius is part of the board of governors, he knows how you both excelled in charms and transfiguration, Mr. Potter.*Said Dumbledore.
*How could he have asked that to James without being incriminated?*Wondered Peter.
James waved his hand in a dismissing motion.
*Oh, he did not ask it directly, he let an intent in that direction… you know how dear Lucy is so good with words. It was clear like water to us though. I know Lily wanted to curse him.*Said James as he grabbed Lily's hand.
*I wanted to do more than that. I lost a good friend to that deceitful bigot! Even worse… I think he joined them.*Said Lily with a broken voice.
*Yeah? Who is it?*Grunted Maugrey.
The marauders looked at each other in disgust.
*Severus Snape.*Muttered Lily quietly.
*Well, that is going to be a problem if he really is. He is starting an apprenticeship with Horace Slughorn this year at Hogwarts.*Said Minerva.
*Not bloody like he is going to try anything under Dumbledore's nose. Besides, that git is antisocial and only cares to play with his chemistry set.*Said James.
Sirius also said something, but it was so quiet, nobody heard what he said.
*Mr. Black, what did you say?*Asked the Headmaster.
Sirius's eyes went up to fix Dumbledore, then sighed.
*I said… Ruma is in love with him.*Said Sirius before looking down again.*She told me…*Sirius stopped. He was obviously struggling with something.
Lupin placed a hand on his shoulder in sympathy, knowing his friend had also been in love with her. Sirius sighed again before speaking. She had not made her oath spell with him.
*She told me she was supposed to recruit the seventh-year students for Voldemort. Perhaps she was attacked in January because she had failed, or because she did say she did not want to do it.*Said Sirius.
*She's just a little girl. How could she have so much pressure from her surrounding, that's horrible.*Said Minerva before looking at Albus.*We have to do something.*She added, her lip trembling.
*Seth has left Britain.*Announced Albus. The Order members looked at each other, not knowing how to react with that information.*He has left… along with Gellert Grindelwald and his childes. Ruma stayed, and so did Corban Yaxley.*He added.
*Do we know why? The minister would not tell me, except saying it was for personal matter*Said Kingsley.
Dumbledore sat down on his chair and joined hands on his lap.
*The American minister only told me because of my status, but there was a church, with muggles inside, burned by fiendfyre not long after his arrival. The MACUSA had found weapons and objects destined to kill vampires in the basement of the church. They did not accuse Seth to be the one who actually did the fiendfyre.*Explained Dumbledore.
*And why not? Because he can't do magic?*Inquired James with narrowed eyes.
Dumbledore sighed, looking at Maugrey who grunted, then at James.
*That is what they assume, but Seth is also a wizard, Mr. Potter. Not many people know that terrible fact.*Said Dumbledore quietly.
There was an eerie silence where the new members looked at each other then at Dumbledore in disbelief.
*What is his agenda? I'm not saying he is right but if he went to kill muggles that intended to kill vampires or already had done so… I mean, he had reasons. What would we do if muggles began to kill wizards?*Asked Sirius.
Sirius remembered the conversation he had with Ruma where she had told him that muggles were dangerous, where he did not really want to listen to her.
*Violence is not the solution. We can always come to peace with muggles, whatever happens.*Said Dumbledore.
Sirius was not so sure but did not argue. He even thought Dumbledore had not been so sure in what he had said too.
*Okay, he's gone, let's focus on Voldemort and what we are here for, ya? He is a real threat here and he does not only kill muggles, but wizards too.*Said Maugrey.
They silently agreed and Dumbledore began to explain strategies and ways to stop Voldemort.
OoOoO
Mr. Vulken,
Since you came to America and are responsible for the vampires, we believe you need to be informed of vampires being in the muggle forensics of New York. Our teams have discovered they had been in hiding within the muggle community and they did so because they hide information and give false reports of muggle deaths perpetrated by vampires. On the same night the church was burned, a muggle was mutilated, killed, and left in an alley, but also had his death falsified by the two forensic vampires. An auror had to forcefully get information out of them before he discovered the truth. An obliviating charm has been placed on those two. You are to remedy to this situation immediately, for we believe you were not aware and grant you the benefit of the doubt. -Porpentina Scamander
*Clever vampires.*Said Gellert after reading the letter Seth had passed along.
*Indeed. These vampires must not be old though.*Said Seth before looking at Sanguini.*Tell me, Sanguini, who did you sire after my father, and I left America several years ago?*Asked Seth.
Seth had not even bothered asking if he did sire anyone, but rather who it was. Ever since he had sent Sanguini back to America, he kept learning all the stupidities he did, one after the other.
*Ugh… a guy named Theodred. He is a, um, a powerful drug dealer. I love good businessman, you know that. I can't find him anymore. I'm thinking he might have been killed…*Said Sanguini pensively.
Seth clicked his tongue in disapproval.
*And without links, too, idiot. No wonder there are forensics vampires now. What better way to hide and falsify data from corpses caused by drug dealers and vampires. I'll have to go see them, or perhaps, you, Sanguini?*Asked Seth with a raised eyebrow.
*HO HEY, I'm no wizard, you can't just barge in hospitals or morgues without uniform and identification.*Objected Sanguini.
Gellert smirked before waving his wand at him. Sanguini now had a long white doctor coat with a nametag. His hair was tugged backwards, and he even wore a pair of glasses. A writing board appeared in a hand and a pen in the other. Gellert mumbled another enchantments, a small compulsion charm destined to muggles around him to call him doctor and leaving him alone. Sanguini looked at himself in consternation and Seth laughed.
*OH, COME ON!*Grunted Sanguini.*That's not fair.*
*Consider this as another punishment for your actions. Bring those vampires here. If you don't do what I say, I'll force you.*Snapped Seth.
Sanguini flinched, being remembered his place.
*Right… which hospital is it? Carnell?*Asked Sanguini, and Seth nodded.
Gellert and Seth looked at Sanguini going away grumbling. Grindelwald suddenly waved his wand again and moved a round table to the center of the room. The devices to hold the Triune victims went out of a trunk by the side of the room and placed themselves on the table, including the pliers.
*They are coming with him.*Informed Gellert to Seth.
Seth raised an eyebrow as Gellert was now fetching manually a small obsidian box from the trunk.
*I wonder what method they used. I do plan to first let them have a choice, mmm?*Said Seth.
*A choice, tsk. Just how long do you want this to take, Seth? Even without giving them a choice, this is still going to take several years, especially without Rookwood or even Ruma. Making those Triunes take a very long time to make, even for me.*Said Gellert before apparating sounds were heard from the main hall.
'Bloody hell, was that apparition, from vampires?'
They heard a faint voice from the hall, and most certainly, Abernathy and Vinda came in the room holding a weak man called Picquery in front of Seth. The wizard could barely hold on to his legs and he fell on his knees, his body slightly trembling from blood loss. He lifted his eyes towards Seth then looked at Gellert.
*You still look the same. How can you still look like that?*Muttered Picquery.
Gellert hummed as Seth grabbed the man by the collar and lifted him only to place him on a chair a few steps behind Picquery, making him grunt. Not yet by the table. No, not yet.
*You want a glass of water, Picquery? I hope dear Abernathy did not scare you too much, hmm?*Asked Seth before waving his wand and conjuring a glass and filling it with water.
The wizard eyed the glass of water avidly, which he gladly took and gulped its content rapidly. He looked again at Seth with narrowed eyes, then at his empty glass.
*You are that vampire King… Seth. You just did magic… Why am I here?*Asked Picquery.
Seth crouched in front of him, making the man feel uneasy, and grabbed his chin with a finger and his thumb, turning his head from left to right before releasing him. As if Gellert had read his mind, he had grabbed a chair and placed it behind Seth for him to sit.
*Thank you, Gellert.*Said Seth before sitting down and crossed his legs.
His tail was obvious and moving slowly close to the floor. Gellert's childes placed their backs against the wall and crossed their arms, while their sire simply went to get himself wine before sitting down by the table he had placed.
*Before anything else, let me ask you this question: Do you believe no-majs are not a threat to wizards?*Asked Seth.
*What? Of course, they are! The statute of secrecy is exactly for this. When no-majs are afraid, they attack.*Said Picquery.
*Ta! Word for word from his dear mother. Is that hag still alive?*Sneered Gellert.
Picquery made a movement to go and attack Gellert, but Seth had waved his wand towards the wizard and forced his to stay put.
*Gellert, if you keep angering our guest, I'll have to ask you to leave the room.*Said Seth and Gellert grunted.
Seth brought back his gaze on Picquery.
*Second question: what makes you think no-majs won't find us in a very, near, future?*Asked Seth slowly.
Picquery frowned, looking at each of the vampire in confusion, opening and closing his mouth.
*I-I don't know.*Stuttered the wizard.
*Third question: what would you think would happen if we could not stop that event to arise, no matter how hard we try?*Asked Seth.
Picquery looked at Gellert who had a blank face on, then stared back at Seth.
*That's what Grindelwald asked forty years ago to every Wizarding Nation. Why would it be different now?*Asked the auror.
*Fourth question: are you aware of the technology no-majs are now able to produce?*Asked Seth.
*What? Like planes and guns?*Scoffed Picquery.
*Yes, planes, guns… helicopters, satellites, nuclear bombs, computers, and even phones will become a threat.*Said Gellert before standing up in fury.*Forty years is a long time, and things I have said would happen DID happen! People like YOU don't care because your life is not disturbed by any of it.*Added Gellert angrily.
*Why am I here?*Repeated Picquery.
*Would you believe me if I told you my main goal is to actually protect the wizards from no-majs? But by doing so, it will require to hold control of them, by any, means, necessary. I am offering you a choice, Mr. Picquery. Do you want to help us… willingly?*Asked Seth in a cold voice that actually brought a shiver down the wizard's spine.
*What… what do you mean, willingly?*Hesitated Picquery.
Seth stood up, then joined hands in his back. He bent forward, his face an inch away from the auror's face.
*Meaning, do you want to be a little puppet or actually believe in what we are trying to do for the greater good?*Asked Seth with a grin, knowing Gellert would glee behind him with the words of his old motto he had just said.
Seth stood back up then went beside Gellert who had a big smile on his face, turning his little obsidian box between his fingers. Picquery was breathing heavily, thinking furiously, and slightly panicking. He did not know what was in that box, but he was sure it was not candies.
*I-I guess by any means necessary… you mean murders… corruption…*Said Picquery, looking down.
*Of course not, we want to reason with peace and negotiation with them. They are so understanding!*Said Vinda with sarcasm.
Picquery shook his head.
*There must be another way.*Mumbled the auror.
*You are free to come up with one, for we have thought about it for years. Casualties are inevitable in order to protect the wizards, even from themselves.*Said Gellert.
Gellert stopped playing with his box then placed it on the table before opening it. There was a dozen, blue glowing, triangle shape, metallic objects all stacked in it. Picquery's heartbeat went faster in apprehension, not reassured one bit about the contents of the box. Seth made a sigh before approaching him again.
*He did tell me to not bother giving a choice. You think your dear colleagues should have one?*Asked Seth.
*What?*Said Picquery as Seth grabbed him by the collar violently to lift him up and place him on another chair by the table, in front of the head holder device.
Picquery had tried to remove Seth's hands from him, but his blood loss from earlier had left him weakened and he became lightheaded as he had tried to use strength, quickly abandoning his retaliation. Vinda and Abernathy went to grab him again, holding his arms as Seth placed the auror's head in the head holder.
*You really thought this was to be only with you?*Sneered Vinda by his ear.
They could have restrained him by magical means, but Seth let them have their sweet revenge on aurors he knew they themselves hated beyond imagination. Picquery groaned weakly and eyed Gellert with newfound fear. Grindelwald smelled the air and smacked his lips.
*Yes. Fear and adoration, nothing better.*Mused Gellert as he pulled out a pair of pliers and took a Triune with it.
Seth took the mouthpiece on the table, meant to keep the mouth opened, and shoved it into Picquery's mouth. At this point, the auror showed pure horror in his eyes and made groans and whines, almost pleading. Seth stepped back as Gellert was leaning in, showing the pliers holding the blue glowing Triune in its grasp.
*This lovely thing here, will be inserted in your mouth roof. A little invention of mine and the Doctor, meant to place a permanent Imperius curse on you, without any means to fight it.*Hissed Gellert with a grim smile. Picquery whined more, trying to move his arms but he could not fight the vampires holding him in place.*Don't worry, you will forget everything here, except that in the back of your mind, you'll know you can't fight this, or we will know. Try to remove it, and you will die. Try to speak about it, you will die. Now, try not to puke blood everywhere, yeah?*Said Gellert before shoving the Triune directly in Picquery's mouth.
The Triune burned the skin and the auror thrashed against his restraints, groaning, and trying to yell. Tears fell down from his eyes, his heartbeat was fast and uneven. Seth saw that Gellert took a wicked pleasure doing this to the auror personally. He grabbed a handkerchief after passing his wand on the wound, healing it, and mumbling a sealing enchantment, then tossed the tissue in Picquery's mouth. The auror was clearly exhausted, his eyes were closed, and he had stopped moving. Only the constant heartbeat told them he was still alive. Abernathy and Vinda went away from him after removing the head holder. Gellert waved his wand again, vanishing the tissue and cleaning the few drops of blood around. Picquery made a low groan, then lifted his head, Gellert's wand pointing between his eyes.
*Obliviate.*Mumbled Grindelwald, a satisfied smile on his face.
Seth concentrated, reaching to the part of his mind he rarely went, seeing his link with the Triunes holders. Sure enough, he knew one of the dots was Picquery's. Beside those dots, was a vibrant connecting line to Corban.
*Nin aenil galad. Whatever you are doing, or looking at, is making a bright light in my mind.*Thought Corban.
Seth smiled as he explain what they had just done, but that the light was him looking inside his mind and how their link shone bright. Corban repeated the three first words he said before retracting from Seth's mind, as he was busy at the ministry, and it needed his concentration.
Abernathy gave a blood replenishing and a dreamless potion to Picquery before Gellert spoke to him.
*Return to your flat, clean whatever mess there is, and go back to work as usual.*Ordered Gellert to a groaning Picquery, slowly standing up with hazy eyes.
The now Triune bearer drank the potions and took the direction of the hall to apparate away.
*Who's next?*Asked Vinda avidly.
Seth raised an eyebrow before sharing a look with Gellert. Seth had told Gellert to start looking, or at least have his childes, for muggles from the congress and the army, but knowing it would take a while. And so, the four others, Marvin, Cassius, Nagel, and Frieda had gone to the other states doing just that while Abernathy and Vinda had stayed with them to take care of the MACUSA. Darthael had bought three famous pubs in New York, doing what he knows best, with the help of Sanguini where Seth discovered the funds Sanguini had used was to gain renown in the city, just like he did in Miami.
Angel had had even better news for them. The US president was, quite often, seen in his restaurants. But often meant, once every two to three months, but if they could use a Triune for him, without anyone noticing their movements, it would greatly reduce the length of time necessary to control the muggles. They would have to use the Imperius curse first, and on several presidential committees to attain their goal.
*Vinda, if you are so impatient, go try to find them yourself. I have a wizard to catch for Gnarlak.*Said Seth.
With a wave of his wand, Gellert put away the things used for the Triunes, then looked at his King leaving the room. Vinda went close to him and removed a strand of hair from his face.
*My husband died long before you found me again. I never thought you could make my heart beat again before you stopped it for good. But it aches even more when I see how you look at him, and that he does not give you what you want.*Said Vinda quietly.
Gellert grabbed her wrist and stared at her.
*He will be mine. I can wait. Time is no longer relevant.*Answered Gellert.
Reviews please!
Author's note: I suck in politics. I did some research as to what consists of the presidency. I saw there is a congress, and that the president has advisors. I am not going to go into details about how they eventually succeed into taking control of the president and the congress, but the thing is they have to do this without any suspicion, and also control the MACUSA.
Triunes take a long time to make, because if they write a single line wrong on the metallic piece, Gellert or Rookwood have to do it again. The intense precision and time-consuming takes around 10 to 12 hours just to make one, and they can't stop since some runes don't interact with others without writing another right away so once they start making one, they have to finish it in one sitting.
