The purpose Chapter 57 New allies
August 31st, 1975
Gaspard Leclerc loved women and also being either drunk or high enough every day of his life. He was a cunning thieve, and a very skilled wizard in charms. Everywhere he went, he placed warning spells on the buildings he entered and a proximity alert of magical beings. With that in mind, he approached a woman sitting by the bar and whispered a compulsive behavior in her ear. It did not work every time he did it, but if the woman was already wanting this, it only favored his desires. Few could resist his angelic appearance. With his short blond hair, and piercing blue eyes, and a strong jaw, his charming skills were not only magical. The reason he was so evasive was actually because he was a metamorphmagus.
While he was shagging the muggle woman in a toilet stall, he felt a shift in his wards, but it was followed by anti-apparition spell being cast.
''Shit, I'll need my portkey. ''Mumbled Gaspard under his breath.
''What? You need your key?'' Asked the woman, her forehead on the stall wall.
He shut her up by placing a hand on her mouth without forcing it. He moved his hips faster, placing his other hand on her hip for better movements, and she moaned in answer.
''Don't speak, love, I'm almost done.'' Panted the wizard before kissing her shoulder blade.
A short minute passed where she climaxed, and where he came quickly after, biting into her shoulder. He removed himself from her then brought up his pants. He helped her getting out of the stall then closed the door in front of him. He took out his portkey, which was a key and said his password, but it did not work. The bastard had also placed an anti-portkey spell around the building.
''Shit.'' Swore Gaspard.
''Is everything all right?'' Asked the woman.
''Yeah, I'll buy you a drink, love. Go wait for me at the bar, K?'' Lied the wizard.
She silently agreed and left the bathroom. Gaspard modified his appearance and transfigured a tissue he had in his pocket into a cloak. It was his last resort move, and it had always worked before. Only his heartbeat was treacherous, beating exceedingly fast. He placed his cloak over his head, and his hands in his pocket before making his way out and directly walking towards the exit. Nothing could tell him if there was anyone looking for him. Everything seemed normal around him. When he tried to push the exit door, he hit an invisible magical wall.
''Damn it.'' Whispered Gaspard.
He pulled out discreetly his wand, trying to dismantle the barrier, but he did not recognize it.
''Seems I have found you, Mr. Leclerc.'' Said Seth darkly as he swiftly removed the man's wand with a silent disarming spell.
Gaspard's wand was halfway to Seth but the man wandlessly called back his wand to him, then spelled a heavy smoke that filled the tavern instantly, making the clients suddenly choke and scream in fear.
''Oh, you are good.'' Mumbled Seth, impressed.
Gaspard had tried to break a window and run for it, but the same invisible wall prevented him from leaving the building, but not the muggles who were all running outside in a panic. Realising he was not going to be able to flee by running away, he cleared partially the smoke so that the insides were hidden from the muggles who were now all outside.
Gaspard waved his wand and made spells after spells, all silently. Seth noticed they were all kinds of incapacitating spells, and that none were lethal. He either deflected, avoided, or shielded against them until the wizard decided to obliterate the wall leading to the outside. Seth ducked from the debris and knew that Gaspard could now escaped from the destroyed wall. Seth made a dark laugh before going after him using his vampiric speed. Gaspard did not make it through the smoke before Seth grabbed him from behind, blocking his movements. The sirens of a police car could be heard coming their way.
Gaspard tried to hit Seth away, and also lashed out wandless magic against him since this time, Seth had used his tail to remove his wand from his hand, which had brought a surprised gasp from the wizard. Gaspard soon realized the crushing magic that countered his own and with a suffocating sharp breath, he felt his legs go weak, and was standing only because Seth held him with a strength, he did not know anyone could possibly have. He could no longer concentrate, and he went back to his original appearance.
''Hmm, a metamorphmagus. You actually impress me with your skills.'' Whispered Seth in his ear.
He passed his tongue on the man's neck, which made him whimper through Seth's fingers that were in front of his mouth. ''Let's talk elsewhere, shall we? Before the no-majs become too curious.'' Added Seth before apparating away, using the powers of his crown to apparate through any wards.
Seth let go of the man as they arrived in Angel's manor hall. Gaspard stumbled on the floor, falling on his back as he tried to turn. Seth grabbed the wand he was holding with his tail and threw it beside the wizard. Gaspard quickly took hold of it, nervously pointing it again towards Seth, who only smirked in response.
''You are not keyed to this manor, you can't apparate or use portkeys here either. I am not here to hurt you.'' Said Seth.
''Wha… who are you? What do you want?'' Asked Gaspard.
''My name is Seth Vulken, I am the vampire King. I have a proposal for you.'' Said Seth.
Gaspard stood up, his wand never wavering from pointing at Seth, and he looked around him as if searching for means to escaped.
''V-Vampire King? Where am I? What proposal?'' Asked the man, now fixing again Seth.
''You are in Joël Robuchon's manor, but his real name is Angel Beaudelaire.'' Said Seth as he walked towards Gaspard slowly. The tip of his wand touched Seth's chest. ''My proposal to you, dear Gaspard, is to work for me and in exchange, you won't have a debt with Gnarlak, or whomever you owe money to.'' Offered Seth, lifting his hands on each side of his body.
Gaspard made a loud exhale, his heartbeat all over the place. He swallowed hard before speaking.
''I-I'll owe that money to you, what's the difference?'' Asked Gaspard.
Seth grabbed Gaspard's wand and pushed it aside, going closer to the man. He placed his left hand behind the man's head, gently grabbing his blond hair and pulling on them, exposing his neck. Gaspard had time to see Seth's eyes become black as coal.
''This… and much more.'' Said Seth in the wizard's ear before sinking his teeth in his neck.
Gaspard gasped, dropping his wand on the floor, and hung onto Seth's clothes. He could not comprehend how he even had let that vampire get this close without him retaliating, like he always did. His first instinct was always fighting or fleeing, never questioning his pursuers, knowing full well he always either owe someone money or that they would bring him to justice. Maybe curiosity had been stronger than fleeing. Warmth spread in his body, not believing what he was actually feeling. This was very pleasurable, and he heard himself literally moan from this.
''Oh god… this can't be real.'' Breathed Gaspard after getting a jolt of bliss in his nether regions.
Seth continued drinking from him, seeing the man's memories, and indulging in his powerful blood. He took great enjoyment into giving Gaspard the sensations only vampires could, or probably only the way he could. He drank, only stopping when he knew he would be too weak to even stand.
Gellert walked towards the hall, having heard his King arrive and converse with someone. Seth was done feeding off of the man. He apparated again, and Gellert heard the popping sound from the living room. He eyed the wand on the floor and picked it up before he turned and made his way to the living room. Seth had placed Gaspard in a sofa and had given him a blood replenishing potion.
''Blood replenishing potion. You'll feel better.'' Said Seth with a grin.
Gaspard brought a trembling hand to his nose, smelling the potion before drinking it, figuring it was really what Seth had said.
''That the man you were supposed to get to Gnarlak?'' Asked Gellert as he entered the living room, toying with Gaspard's wand in his hands.
''You implied you were not bringing me there. ''Said Gaspard between two gulps of potion, then looked at Gellert with narrowed eyes. ''Wait, I know you. Gellert Grindelwald. Heh, my youth idol… is a vampire.'' He added weakly, but with amusement.
Seth made a smile, knowing this would be easier than he thought to persuade him to do anything, if he still worshipped Gellert. Gellert raised an eyebrow and sat cross-legged in a sofa across from the man while Seth crossed his arms, half-sitting on the armchair of Gellert's sofa.
''Your idol? What did I do that made you think so?'' Asked Gellert with a sparkle in his eyes.
''Things you said almost fifty freaking years ago, when most did not believe you, I did. Even when you tried to trick everyone with the Qilin… I was thirteen when it happened, and I could not have done anything really… but seeing the dark magic you performed and the treachery you tried to do really impressed me. Then again, anything impresses a teenager yeah? Even before that… in Paris, I was even younger then, but you did warn everyone.'' Said Gaspard.
Gellert looked at Seth for a second before looking at Gaspard again.
''Your name?'' Asked Gellert curiously.
''Gaspard Leclerc.'' He answered.
Gellert frowned, thinking that his name reminded him of someone who had fought with him in his war.
''Are you the son of Lionel Leclerc?'' Asked Gellert.
Gaspard nodded, then placed the empty potion flask on the small table beside, then searched in his jacket and brought out a pack of cigarettes.
''Yes, I am, although I left and fought in the second no-majs world war. My father did not want me to follow you, surprisingly enough, so I went to see the other war for myself. When I came back, I learned he had died at the hands of American aurors.'' Said Gaspard as he lit himself a cigarette and took a deep puff.
''No wonder your skills are so impressive. That does not explain why you did not try to hurt me.'' Said Seth.
Gaspard made a mocking laugh.
''Why would I? You did not try to hurt me either. You were trying to capture me and I'm not…'' Mumbled Gaspard, his voice trailing off as he looked away then took another puff of cigarette.
''A murderer. Or perhaps, not a wizard murderer. You can't possibly have been in their war and not have killed a single one of them.'' Said Gellert.
Gaspard stayed silent for a short moment, then leaned in, exhaling smoke in the air.
''What's this work you want me to do? Paying off my debts in exchange for my blood? I'm sure that was not what you meant. Besides, there's already a dozen no-majs here and a house-elf who, I am sure, give you plenty of what vampires need.'' Said Gaspard.
Seth raised an eyebrow and looked at Gellert.
''Skills… he performed a Homenum Revelio silently while we were not even looking. He knows evasive maneuvers like a true expert. Oh, he's a metamorphmagus too.'' Said Seth and Gellert made several nods in appreciation. Seth stood up and walked to the alcohol dispenser to pour himself some wine.
''Lionel was a nice wizard to have with me. I did not tend to care about my followers then, compared to now. My ideas are very similar… meaning wanting to place the no-majs where they belong.'' Began Gellert.
''What changed? Becoming a vampire?'' Wondered Gaspard.
Gellert looked at Seth coming back by his side, wine in hand. Seth conjured an ashtray for Gaspard on his armchair. The wizard snorted then patted his cigarette over it.
''It contributed to my return after all these years. I am sure I would have been forgotten in my prison if Seth had never been born. We are using a method of control with something I created with someone. Once every leader of this country, no-majs or wizards, are under our command, we will proceed with other countries. This method prevents the slaughter of our kind from the no-majs while still maintaining how the world is… functioning.'' Explained Gellert.
''Method of control? Like the Imperius curse?'' Asked Gaspard with a sudden spike of suspicious interest.
Gellert and Seth shared a look. Should they tell him their plan? A metamorphmagus like Gaspard would only be beneficial for so many situations, but a betrayal on his part could also prove fatal. Seth saw in Gellert's eyes that he wanted to place a Triune in him, he was not one to take chances, but Seth thought otherwise.
''Im ceri- ú- estel mín gar- ceri- i na ber allui. Im thír hon rín, mín lothron medui hon estel.'' Said Seth in venthyr.
Gellert stood up and turned to face Seth.
''Certainly, my King.'' Answered Gellert, staring at his sire for a moment longer than necessary, then turned again and threw Gaspard's wand at his owner, who caught it in one swift movement.
''I'm sure you have a method where my skills could only be beneficial. So what, I get to be in this… family of yours?'' Said Gaspard, pointing at both of them. ''You said your name was Seth Vulken, the vampire King. Wait, you said he was born? Like born as a vampire? Is that why you are sporting a tail? Like some defect or something… a pretty useful defect, might I add huh.'' Added Gaspard before taking another puff of cigarette and crushing the rest of it in the ashtray.
''You talk too much. But, yes is the answer to all of your questions.'' Said Seth, giving his wine glass to Gellert. ''Now, we have not revealed enough for you to blabber anyway. You can go home, I will take care of your debts tomorrow, but I expect you to answer my owls, Mr. Leclerc, for I will track you down even better than I did today.'' Threatened Seth.
Gaspard shook his head before standing up, then bowed curtly in front of Seth and Gellert.
''Only fools would not join you. Hell, I don't even see why someone would not. Farewell, Seth Vulken and oh my god, I can't believe it… farewell Mr. Grindelwald. See you soon enough.'' Said Gaspard, leaving behind a smirking Gellert and Seth who rolled his eyes.
Once Gaspard left, Gellert emptied the wine glass in one gulp.
''I don't trust him, but… you would know better since you took his blood.'' Said Gellert.
''Even if he was an expert Occlumens, I did see through him, and he will be a wonderful new ally.'' Assured Seth.
The rumble of a car was heard. Seth cast a Tempus where it showed the time, noticing it was almost sunrise.
''You think it's true, vampires that burns in the sun?'' Asked Gellert.
''We shall know in a minute.'' Said Seth.
They began to hear voices from down the hall.
''A vampire King, that can't be serious. Theodred never mentioned it… did you tell him that?'' Asked a man's voice.
''I… uh, no. Maybe I should have.'' Said Sanguini with regret.
''Are we supposed to bow or something?'' Asked another man so quietly, Seth wondered if those vampires could even hear from far away like any supposed vampires.
Seth never forced the bowing in front of him, as long as anyone showed him proper respect. His father always told him undying loyalty can be obtained easily and fervently with how you treat your servants and subjects, not by fear and cruelty, where betrayal was common, at least coming from history of monarchs.
Again, Sanguini had hesitated and had not answered, but they were now standing at the room's door. Staring meanly at them with crossed-arms over their chest were Seth and Gellert. Sanguini licked his dry lips nervously.
''Uh, that's Bernard and Allen. So… apparently Theodred did die. He was their sire and had not used the link either.'' Said Sanguini while scratching his head.
Seth looked at the two newcomers who were actually watching intensely the morning sun coming from the windows, but Seth also had used quick Legilimency for their surface thoughts.
''I'll… I'll… ugh, can you place curtains or something… the sun burns our skin quite heavily… please?'' Said the named Bernard as he tried to hide behind Sanguini.
''So, it's true then?'' Said Seth with a raised eyebrow.
The King looked at Gellert with a smirk and with a wave of his hand, Gellert either conjured heavy green curtains or moved the ones present in the room and blocked out any lights coming from outside. Angel's manor worked on electricity; thus, the lights were now coming from various lights on the walls and ceiling. Despite the fact they clearly seem to relax one notch, the display of magic widened the newcomer's eyes.
''What was that?'' Asked Allen in a high-pitched voice.
''Magic. As in, literally magic. Not some fantasy or movie props, and for your information, no, this is not a wig, that's my real hair, and that's not a fake tail, Mr. Allen.'' Said Seth.
''How…'' Began Allen.
Gellert made a snort and went back to sit in a sofa, they were in for a long day of explanation.
OoOoO
Links were more important than any vampire would have guessed. Since Sanguini and Theodred had not used links, it removed certain aspects of being a vampire. Seth now understood why wizards lost their powers if he did not make a link with them, but just like he gave their magic back with his blood, he theoretically thought he could give Bernard and Allen the pleasure to walk in the sun again, among other things. He had asked them if they knew any other vampires like them, which they had answered positively. Two others were in the police department, one was a doctor in the same hospital they worked, and they thought another traveled with the drug dealers.
Theodred had been killed by the slayers Seth had killed in the church. They did not know if there was other slayers in another city, but they assured Seth they were no more in New York now. Bernard and Allen were part of a growing drug organisation.
''Are they aware of what you are?'' Asked Seth.
Bernard and Allen looked at each other, then shook their heads.
''I-I don't think so. Theodred was the one to… uh, speak with the Baron, or… or the, uh, they call him the godfather. Since his death is recent, they have not contacted us or anything, but our job is to falsify deaths and files, so… if we keep doing our jobs, I have no idea if they will ever contact us anyway.'' Said Bernard.
Seth noticed Bernard and Allen began to have tics and fidgeted in their seat. Sweat was forming on their foreheads. Their thirst was not under control, and they probably needed blood more often than a Vulken vampire, another downside of their condition. Seth passed a finger over his lips, eyeing Gellert who had fallen asleep a little while ago. Sanguini had left at some point around lunch. Time had indeed passed, and it was almost dinner time.
''What do you get out of this? Being a vampire and doing what you do, hmm?'' Asked Seth.
Bernard licked his lips and leaned forward.
''Money and eternal life, what else?'' Answered Bernard.
''I see.'' Said Seth as he stood up.
He went to Bernard, walking slowly with a glint in his eyes, like a predator. His tail moved gracefully behind him. Fear gripped the two new vampires. Bernard moved backwards, trying to sink in his sofa as Seth was now hovering over him. Seth thought Bernard was somewhat good-looking with his swarthy complexion. He gripped Bernard's brown hair tightly behind his head, making him gasp. Ever since he had moved in New York, he had felt the desire to do whatever he felt like, not having a mask or a façade on his face, not hiding what he was to anyone, anymore. Danyck's death had brought him a sorrow and anger because of things he did not do, and no more he wanted to have regrets. No more would he get Voldemort's influence in his mind.
''Oney- nin on- cin anuinad tovon a on- nin cín uireb loyaltui.'' Whispered Seth in Venthyr.
Bernard's eyes widened as he understood what Seth had said. The second after, warm lips crashed against his own. At first, he tried to get away from Seth's grip, but when blood entered his mouth, he stopped struggling. His hands that had been on Seth's shoulders made their way behind his neck instead, gently pulling Seth closer. Blood began to pour from the sides of their mouths, and Allen who had been terrified a second ago, was now avidly interested by what was happening in front of him.
The smell of Seth's blood had woken Gellert. He quickly stood up, blinded by a sudden jealousy, and grabbed Seth's shirt, pulling him away from Bernard. By doing that, the blade from Seth's tail had slashed through the air and cut Gellert's right arm. Gellert repressed a yell and backed away, holding his bleeding arm. Seth had turned abruptly and gripped both Gellert's wrists, staring emotionless at him.
''Since when do you give blood by kissing them?'' Asked Gellert as he looked at Bernard over Seth's shoulder.
With blood still dripping from his mouth, Bernard was in complete extasy. His eyes were now icy blue, and he began to laugh uncontrollably.
Seth let go of Gellert's non-bleeding arm and pushed the torn sleeve to his elbow and licked the blood from the wound he had made.
''Because I believe they don't even have the venom to make me feel anything. At least with a kiss, I can enjoy this.'' Asked Seth in a honey voice, his breath a millimeter away from Gellert's lips.
A pleasuring shiver passed through Gellert. Seth let go of Gellert then went towards Allen who looked at Seth with some apprehension.
''Are you scared of me, Allen?'' Asked Seth.
Bernard had stopped laughing.
''Allen, this… him, I mean, you will never take heroin ever again after this.'' Said Bernard.
''Heroin? Is that the name of the drug you spoke of?'' Asked Seth curiously.
''Uh, yeah. It affects us less ever since we became vampires… I… uh, I-I managed to…'' Began Allen, passing a hand through his hair.
Seth snorted, guessing Allen had drunk blood from a drug addict, liked it, and probably killed his victim in the process.
As if he'd care what they did. Not anymore.
''Amusing to see how ruthless killers you both make.'' Grinned Gellert as he healed his still bleeding wound, which now stopped after the spell worked.
Without waiting anymore, Seth closed the gap between himself and Allen, grabbing him by the collar and lifted him from the sofa to his feet, then placed a hand at the back of his head and brought Allen's mouth to his neck.
''Let's see if you can even give me any sensation this way while you indulged yourself.'' Said Seth quietly.
Allen was obviously hesitating, but his thirst was unbearable, not without even mentioning the lingering smell of Seth's blood and adding Gellert's blood in the air. With trembling hands, Allen hung unto Seth's clothes. The slow heartbeat of Seth made the skin bulge every few seconds, calm and steady. His magic radiated in pulses, as if it followed the heartbeat. Allen opened wide his mouth before sinking his teeth in the vampire King's neck.
Like he had thought, Seth could not feel anything, except for the small pinch from the bite. He also felt Allen gain confidence after a few seconds, or perhaps he loved his blood too much, for he tightened his grip, and a moan was heard.
''Ugh. Enough.'' Said Seth as he pushed Allen away.
He pretty much had the same reaction. Allen had an uncontrollable laugh.
''Oh… OH god.'' Breathed Allen, half bent with his hands on his knees.
''Funny how they keep saying that word. You really should start to believe it, my King.'' Said Gellert behind Seth.
Seth clicked his tongue, but not disapproving.
I was the only one born like this.
The words he had said to the priest came back to him. Not that he thought himself as a god, far from it, but his purpose to have been born had yet to come. He thought it had something to do with making more vampires, and maybe, maybe, should they be ruling this world. After all, they could live eternally and had powers beyond being a simple wizard. Granted, they should not populate a too big number, nor should they live in darkness, like those two had been. He had yet many things to think about, and focus on his goal, which was to secure his growing nation.
He had to make sure slayers would cease to exist, and for that, he needed to find every vampire, making himself known to every single one of them. The more they knew about him, the more he could actually protect them, and inform them of the wizarding world. While he focused on that, Gellert would focus on their other project.
Author's note: I ended this chapter without saying what happened to Bernard and Allen, but they simply continued their actual life as forensics, not without informing the other vampires of Seth, like he wanted. Also, it took me a longer time to post this chapter, since I took a break and was very tired last week. I also read a few more fanfictions that actually helped me have more ideas and perhaps write better. I changed my * to '' like it is supposed to be. I tried to add more interior monologues or thoughts Seth and other character have.
If you continue to read this far, thank you! Some reviews would be appreciated, even if its bad so I can better myself.
