(Somewhere in a courtroom)

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Zackley was shocked. That feeling of shock, was in it of itself a shock. Fir he had thought he'd seen it all. He watched the hope and life of his fellow soldiers be ripped apart. After a long and decorated member of the military, he had seen the worst and best humanity had to offer. The noble sacrifices of the Survey Corps and the petty squabbling of the Military Police. He had seen it all and lived, which is more than he could say for his comrades. He had seen it all.

Or so he thought.

But now, not only has the world been flipped upside down with not one, but two unprecedented occurrences! First there was a boy who could turn into a titan and back. Then there was a titan who is intelligent AND cooperative. Who could blame him when he was skeptical? No one, thats who.

Now he was sitting in a courtroom, with a expressionless face, watching said boy get kicked repeatedly by the Captain who captured said intelligent titan. He was practically bursting with emotion but unfortunately his duty came first. So he must remain neutral.

"Enough!" He bellowed. "I shall leave him in custody of the Survey Corps, this court is adjourned." And that was that. Zackley quickly, yet gracefully, fled the scene.

(Somewhere in a cell underground)

"Wow Levi, you really did a number on him. I know it was necessary but you could have held back a little." Hanji spoke, to which Levi eloquently responded with "Tch".

"He even lost a tooth." Hanji said, showing him a hanker chief with a tooth in it.

"Will you put that away four eyes its disgusting." Levi responded. Hanji put it away, only then to notice something off in Eren's mouth.

"Levi! Take a look at this! His tooth already grew back!" The words echoed through the dirty walls of the cell. For a while no one said anything, and the only noise was the crackle of the torch the illuminated the room and the occasional hiss from Eren whenever Hanji touched a sore spot.

"Eren, do you resent me?" Asked Levi. He looked at the boy with an apathetic gaze.

"No, I know why you had to do it so I don't resent you." Eren responded. Levi's apathetic gaze grew imperceptibly softer.

(Days later, in Erwin's office)

It was a few days after the cadets had acclimated with their new squads. This year, a near record of cadets had joined the Survey Corps. Which seemed a little strange to Erwin. He could understand the Garrison and the Military Police but the Corps? There was a practical guarantee that half of them would die by the next expedition.

Maybe it was the prospect of seeing 'humanities titan' up close. Or maybe they were joining because of Eren and his abilities. Erwin had no doubt of the two new assets bringing hope to the fight against the titans.

Speaking of titans, Erwin had asked Hanji to keep him up to date on every last detail on the titan. What she found so far was amazing. The titan had a hateful disposition towards his own kind, which brought a smile to his face. On top of that he was remarkably strong, able to lift a boulder and throw it several meters.

Yes, remarkable indeed. He could even speak! Although…what it talked about was soul crushing. Apparently there were humans outside the walls, but they were the cause of the titans and they hated everyone in the walls. Titans themselves were once humans in fact, and there was no known way to turn them back. Other than the 9 titan shifting powers. All this priceless information, and it he couldn't tell the crown a single bit of it.

As it turns out, the government was lying to its population the entire time. As he suspected them. The only other people who knew was him, Levi and Hanji. The way they reacted was to be expected.

Erwin sighed, and for the first time in a long time, fell asleep on his desk.
