CHAPTER TWO
"Hey Kitty!" Ladybug landed next to him on the roof. "Hey M'lady!" Cat Noir did a bow and reached for her hand to kiss it. Normally she'd pull away, but she was more focused on figuring out where the akuma was hiding. "So what have you figured out?" Cat asked. "I'm not sure…you have any ideas?" Ladybug asked. They didn't attack head on this time because they were both a bit sick of this and Ladybug decided they needed to end this quickly by coming up with a plan to catch it by surprise. "You know what, why am I even wasting time. LUCKY CHARM!" Her lucky charm took both of them by surprise.
"Okay all of your lucky charms are random, but this really tops it." Cat pointed out the obvious. A pack of ladybug spotted french fries lay in her hands. "Why french fries? Tape? I got you covered. Mirror? Easy. Food?! I don't know!" There was something funny about this though, because now they started to snicker. "Give me your miraculouses!" the villain shouted when it finally spotted them spectating it. Then strangely the villain's face changed from a scowl to more of pure glee.
"Food!" The villain exclaimed and snatched it out of ladybugs hands before her or Cat Noir could stop him. "He's going to eat your lucky charm!" Cat screamed in shock. "Ladybug seized the opportunity to snatch anything that might be holding the akuma as the villain marveled at the french fries. He took a bite, "Ewww it tastes like bugs!" Ladybug broke his necklace that had a french fry charm, and he turned back to his normal civilian self. "Time to de-evilize, Gotcha! Bye bye little butterfly! MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!" Ladybug said her usual as she threw the lucky charm fries into the sky. Thank Goodness the villain didn't actually get to eat them. "So your lucky charms taste like.. Bugs?" Cat looked stunned at the odd idea of even eating one or that someone knew what a bug tasted like. They all started laughing, even the guy they just saved.
"I suppose I wasn't even a little bit normal while that happened to me.." The guy remarked getting off of the ground. "Thankyou Ladybug and Cat Noir! I'm sorry for causing you trouble. My co-worker stole my lunch and I was just so hungry and frustrated I couldn't calm myself." The man sighed sadly. "Maybe you should talk to your boss about that." Ladybug suggested. Lunch theft didn't seem serious enough for the police, but it sure wasn't something to ignore. "I'll try that, and I'll try to do better at keeping my cool when I get hangry." He said and then walked away.
"Shadowmoth is either a genius or an absolute desperate fool." Cat said and Ladybug agreed. "Yeah he is tiring us out, but he seems desperate for victims. I mean why akumatize someone over food? I guess he really just doesn't care." Ladybug shrugged. "Let's pray this is the last akuma for today and all of this week." Cat said. Their miraculouses beeped. "Oh time to go, bye Ca-" She began but her sentence was cut off with a bag of macarons in her face. She'd forgotten her mom gave them to the cat to give to her as Ladybug. She pretended to look surprised. "Oh Cat what's this?" "It's some sweets from the Dupain Cheng bakery. I visited them to see how they were after Marinette's mom, Sabine, was akumatized early today. "She opened the bag and smiled at her parents' artistry. Somehow they picked her favorite flavors too."
Ladybug had to wonder though. Despite the times he had met up with her as a civilian and her parents, what did he think of Marinette? He surely didn't visit every family of akumatized victims, so somehow her and her family were of some significance to Cat Noir. "You like this Marinette girl?" Ladybug asked curiously but also teasingly as Cat's Face got a bit pink. "Is M'lady jealous?" Cat came back with a smirk and Ladybug blushed lightly pushing him. "No, I just can't help but wonder. You don't visit other people and their families after their akumatizations." Ladybug pointed out.
"Let's just say I know Marinette personally and her family." Cat said. As Cat Noir or as your civilian identity? Ladybug wondered. His interactions and reactions from earlier when he visited stuck in her head. His love towards passionfruit macarons. Adrien liked those she remembered. Couldn't be She pushed those thoughts aside.
Thier Miraculouses made another beep. They had gotten carried away with the conversation and didn't leave when they should have. "Shoot!" they said in unison and ran to hide behind opposite chimneys. Marinette fed Tikki and shouted, "See you Cat!", before she made a beeline to her home. Not looking in his direction. Cat did the same and shouted goodbye, but he couldn't help but look back. He saw her swing towards Marinette's balcony and questions started to hit his mind. Then more when Ladybug even jumped into Marinette's room from the trap door. "What could that mean?!" Cat stared out for a whole minute before finally darting to the direction of his house, which seemed to feel more like a jail.
