It was frantic in the emergency room. Kankuro laid there on the hospital bed twitching in pain, shouting out every few minutes from the seizures.
"Kankuro, listen to me I'm here now it's okay, we're going to get you fixed up." Temari cupped her brother's face in her hands to help calm him down with tears welling in her eyes.
Sakura had asked that everyone hold him down as she extracted the poison from his muscles. All Temari could think about in this moment was if he was going to make it considering this procedure was a hit or miss.
"Jashin awaits my love, come to me and he'll no longer feel pain."
She ignored the whispers and mind games but was caught off guard to Kankuro's cries.
"Temari, whatever happens just know I'm trying my hardest!" Sakura looked over to notice the tears falling from her eyes.
"If he lives, I will listen to you once. Only once... don't take him from me."
Temari was silently crying. Both of her brothers were in danger and she felt at fault for it. If she lost Kankuro she knew she was going to lose Gaara as well.
After a few moments of Sakura pumping the poison out of Kankuro she had a breakthrough. Kankuro's seizures had stopped and his heart rate was normal again.
Sakura rubbed the sweat off her forehead and smiled.
"I don't know how I managed to do it, but he's okay everyone! Everything is going to be okay!"
Baki looked over to Temari watching her press her back against the wall falling to her knees with traumatic eyes. Her body was shaking and she couldn't believe what just happened. His chances of living were so low, yet he lived. She knew Sakura saved him but she couldn't help but feel like Hidan took part and it was conflicting to her.
"Has everything been okay with you? Aside from this. You haven't been communicating as much lately and I'm starting to get worried." Baki stood next to Temari looking over to Kankuro.
"I'm fine, thanks for asking though."
"I know you're tough, but if you ever need someone to talk to-"
Temari cut him off and stood up to walk out of the emergency room.
"-Thanks."
The next few days consisted of Suna on a mission to rescue Gaara. He was pronounced dead when Naruto got to him until Lady Chiyo used Tensei ninjustu to bring him back to life. Following his death and revival, it was told that the akatsuki was responsible for all the chaos going on and that everyone should be alert.
Temari and her brothers journeyed back to their house to rest before making another move. This experience was overall traumatic for all three of them and they needed to take a mini break before preparing for battle.
The ninja of the leaf were also in Suna resting before heading back. Gaara was being flooded with questions from the villagers and it came to the point where he closed his doors to everyone except close friends. In the siblings' residency, Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, Choji, Shikamaru, Ino and Asuma all were welcomed inside to eat and rest before their venture back for war.
After thinking everything through and forgetting what she subliminally promised Hidan, Temari took this time to let go of stress. She called Shikamaru up to her room after hours when everyone was asleep.
She wore a flowy white dress that cut off mid thigh. The top of the dress had small spaghetti straps with flare white fabric that hung off-the-shoulder tracing the straight cut around her chest that was full and rounded by her breasts. Her hair was down and her long bangs were pushed to the side with strands hovering above her teal eyes. She took one good look at herself in the mirror before pressing her bare feet on the cold hardwood floor to approach him at the door.
Shikamaru walked in, closing the door behind him with a concerned face. "How are you feeling?"
Temari didn't speak, she just walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his torso. He placed a calloused hand on the back of her head and kissed her on her hairline.
"Is there anything I can do?"
She looked up at him and remembered the cave and the emergency room before blurting out everything she had witnessed the past few days and how she was feeling.
"-you told me to come to you and I think I need your help more than I thought I did…"
Shikamaru sighed and placed his hands on her shoulders.
"I'm gonna talk to Asuma about Hidan and see if we can gather some intel on him alright? In the meantime, get some rest."
He stepped back but was stopped by her tugging at his sleeve. "Can you stay here tonight?"
"We're leaving tonight. I'm only here for another hour."
He looked down at her pouting face before letting his lips meet hers.
"I promise everything will be alright. Don't worry about that stupid promise I doubt he'll do anything. He's just trying to scare you, he hasn't physically hurt you yet. Don't let your guard down either though, you have to think smart and be careful of your surroundings."
Temari nodded and let him out. She felt relieved hoping this would be the end of a nightmare and tucked herself into bed.
Black.
There was nothing but darkness and a heaviness weighing around her wrists and ankles. She felt agonizing pain throughout her body as she laid there in the fetal position .
She struggled to open her eyes feeling a combination of wet and dry around her lids. Temari tried to gain her strength as much as she could pushing her wrists up in front of her feeling a cold cemented ground. She gasped and then cried out from the ground as the pain shocked her whole body. Where was she? And where were her brothers? How long was she sleeping for? She lifted her head the best she could and her eyes finally managed to open slightly only to be greeted by those eyes.
The sound of a steel door opened.
Hidan turned on a white light revealing himself along with where she was at. Her wrists and ankles were in heavy shackles that connected to the wall and floor. She was bruised from head to toe covered in her own dried up blood. He had blown something into her eyes while she was sleeping causing them to bleed from the edges in an attempt to unfocus her vision until he had successfully gotten her chained up. She was still in her white dress, only it was torn and stained now.
She looked at herself and began to weep even harder.
"Did you hurt them? Did you hurt any of them? HIDAN? ANSWER ME!"
His presence was annoying, he just stood there and stared at her like a hungry pervert.
"I didn't touch them. I doubt they even know you're gone considering the little note you left them."
"-I didn't-"
Hidan walked up to her lacing his hands in one another.
"Oh, but you did. You went to go handle some business in the leaf. And everyone knows you love visiting the leaf." He winked at her before crouching down to her level.
"You made a promise to me, my love. Jashin is grateful to have another follower." He took his index and middle finger and wiped the still wet blood off her cheek before licking it.
He simpered and licked his fingers clean. "You're much too pure for a sacrifice, Jashin prefers to have you as a follower, a bride who will make the next generation of his followers." Before he could get another sentence in, Temari bit his finger causing him to yell.
"YOU BITCH!" He slapped her across the face causing her to hit her head on the wall behind her and fall back to the ground.
"FUCK!" She screamed.
Hidan recollected himself and laughed maniacally as if she didn't just bite the shit out of him.
"You will understand soon enough my love! This will all make sense soon."
"None of this will ever make sense! You're crazy!" Temari growled and sneered at him.
"You pricked your finger a year ago in the woods. I smelled the blood looking for my next sacrifice to Jashin. I tasted it to try and find you, but I fell in love with the taste so instead of hunting you I followed you for that year, Temari." He let out a small chuckle.
"I love you and you keep betraying me… you..."
His facial expression went from psychotic to furious in a matter of seconds. He pulled out his scythe striking the wall. There was no telling what was going through his mind. He was angry, head over heels in a sick fantasy he created for himself but at the same time he looked like he was lost and wanted to cry.
And in that moment, Temari realized his eyes were actually purple and not red. The lust for blood he craved caused his eyes to appear that color when luring others.
"My relationship is none of your business! If anything he doesn't even consider us anything so if that's your reasoning behind all of this-"
"-Enough!" He slammed his foot down on the ground.
You could easily describe Hidan as bipolar. He would get so enraged before switching off to some happy-go-lucky freak which was far more scary than his outrage. She knew he would hurt her, she knew this was probably the end. Even then, she would try and put up the best fight she could with the little resources she had.
"This isn't over… I cannot go out like this."
"You're going to stay here, and pray to Jashin for forgiveness until all is said and done. The war has only just begun, my love! You're already dressed in white, Jashin is awaiting your vows!"
