When the Slytherins got to the Great Hall, the tables they sat at for meals were gone and Jade could really see just how huge the hall was. All of the students were there, all of the houses grouped together, whispering amongst themselves.

"The teachers and I need to conduct a thorough search of the castle," Professor Dumbledore called out and the hall fell silent.

"What the bloody hell is going on?" Theo whispered behind Jade and Pansy shushed him.

"I'm afraid that, for your own safety, you will have to spend the night here. I want the prefects to stand guard over the entrances to the hall and I am leaving the Head Boy and Girl in charge. Any disturbance should be reported to me immediately," Dumbledore added to Percy, he was standing tall as his status of HeadBoy was finally coming in handy. "Send word with one of the ghosts." Professor Dumbledore turned to leave but then paused and said, "Oh, yes, you'll be needing…" Dumbledore waved his hand in a grand gesture and plushy purple sleeping bags appeared all over the floor. "Sleep well," He smiled and then closed the hall doors behind him. As soon as he left the hall buzzed with conversation again. Surprisingly, Harry, Hermione, and Ron came up to Jade and her friends.

"Hey." Harry greeted awkwardly.

"Hey." Jade smiled. Pansy and Draco came to Jade's sides, each giving her Gryffindor friends an unwelcoming glare. "Any idea why we're all having a giant sleepover?" Harry nodded.

"Please, I'd rather gouge out my eyes than waste my time with them." Draco snarled and Jade rolled her eyes.

"But they're such pretty eyes." She cooed at him as if he were a child throwing a tantrum. Draco looked at her, another insult dying on his tongue. Jade looked back at Harry.

"Sirius Black," Harry said.

"What?" Jade asked.

"Everyone into their sleeping bags!" Percy's voice echoed through the hall. "Come on, now, no more talking! Lights out in ten minutes!"

"He was in the castle," Harry explained as they all grabbed a sleeping bag for the night.

"Do you think he's still in the castle?" Jade dropped her voice to a whisper as the other students began to settle down for the night.

"Dumbledore obviously thinks he might be," Ron spoke up, tearing his eyes away from Draco.

"It's very lucky he picked tonight, you know," Hermione told them. "The one night we weren't in the tower."

"I reckon he's lost track of time, being on the run. Didn't realize it was Halloween. Otherwise, he'd have come bursting in here." Ron said.

"How did he get in?" Jade asked and Harry shrugged.

"Disguised himself, probably."

"Could've apparated in." Ron offered but Hermione just sighed,

"Honestly, am I the only person who's ever bothered to read Hogwarts, A History?"

"Yes," Jade told her, and Hermione's sour mood softened slightly. "Why?"

"Because-"

"Because the castle's protected by more than walls." Blaise came up to Jade's side and interrupted Hermione. "There are all sorts of enchantments on it, to stop people entering by stealth. You can't just apparate in here. And I'd like to see the disguise that could fool those Dementors."

"Eavesdrop much?" Ron glared and Blaise smirked as he crossed his arms under his chest.

"The lights are going out now!" Percy shouted. "I want everyone in their sleeping bags and no more talking!" Then the candles all went out at once.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow," Jade told Harry and he nodded again. They walked back towards the other Gryffindors and Jade quickly wiggled into her sleeping bag.

"Well, this is fun," Pansy whispered as she stared up at the night sky on the ceiling of the Great Hall.

"This is awful. How are we supposed to sleep on this dusty cold floor?" Draco hissed.

"Well, Draco, you just close your eyes and imagine you're in your bed and drift to sleep." Jade cooed at him again and he glared at her,

"Stop talking to me like that."

"Will you all just shut up and go to sleep?" Theo groaned.

"Someone needs his beauty sleep." Pansy sighed as she closed her eyes.

"He's onto something." Jade rolled over and closed her eyes to try and get some sleep. She could hear the ghosts whispering to the prefects as they came back from around the castle, reporting what they found, more like didn't find.

"Jade." She heard a voice close to her whisper,

"Go to sleep, Draco." She answered without opening her eyes.

"Can't sleep." Jade sighed and opened her eyes, Draco was turned towards her and he smirked.

"What do you know about Sirius Black?" Jade asked and Draco's smirk fell from his face.

"Just what my father told me."

"And what did he say?"

"I'm sure Potter will fill you in soon." Draco turned to face the ceiling and Jade scooted closer to him.

"What were you going to tell me earlier?" Jade tried changing the topic but this one seemed to turn Draco further away.

"Nothing."

"Nothing?"

"I forgot."

"You forgot."

"Go to sleep, Jade." Jade turned on her back,

"You first."

"Shall we make it a game, then?" Jade smiled as her eyes fell closed.

"I'll win." She heard Draco laugh beside her,

"We'll see." Jade opened her eyes and tried to keep them open for as long as she could, but as her body began to relax so did her mind, and the tempting calm and promise of release that sleep gave her only took a few moments to pick her up and swift her into a dream state. Draco looked over at Jade to find her resting peacefully. He was going to look away after a moment, he never looked for longer than a second or two in fear of her catching him but she wouldn't catch him now. She looked peaceful, no tension in her brow, no irritation causing her to frown. She had always been pretty but every time Draco looked at her it was like he was looking at her for the first time again. They'd been friends for three years and he still hadn't gotten used to her. The way she looked, the way she held herself, the way she said his name. It was a pleasant feeling, a glowing feeling, it was refreshing for him to be around her compared to when he was back home or alone and there was nothing that he felt that gave him such a warm feeling. A happy feeling. He didn't know why he couldn't just say how he felt to her. He'd tried, a few times, but whenever he would think he was ready to talk about it the words halted in his throat and made him choke. He didn't know why. Maybe it was his pride, maybe he didn't want it to be awkward, maybe he just didn't want to be rejected. He didn't want to lose her friendship if she felt differently than he did. He'd rather just hold it in and have her stay than let it out and risk it possibly pushing her away.
