"Your mother dated Sirius Black?" Pansy questioned loudly and Blaise shushed her as he got up to close their train compartment's door. "Why didn't you tell us before?" She asked in a slightly quieter tone.

"It's not like I knew, I just found out." Jade paused and then looked at Draco at her side. "But, you knew something. How come you didn't say anything?"

"Please, I didn't know he was involved with your mother." Draco rolled his eyes.

"What do you know, then?" Pansy asked.

"I just know why he's coming after Potter." They all waited expectantly and Draco sighed, "To finish him off, obviously." This is where Jade felt confused, there was the popular opinion about Sirius Black, that he was a murderer and a follower of You-Know-Who and he was awful and dangerous. Then, there was what her mother told her, that he loved Harry's parents and they'd been best friends for many years, it was unfathomable for him to do anything to hurt them. Jade had told her friends what her mother had said but she hadn't told them what she thinks about all of it, because she didn't know herself. She really wanted to talk to Harry and see what he had to say about it. It was all Jade thought about on their ride back to Hogwarts, her friends talked around her and tried to pull her into their conversation but she was only able to focus on them for a short while before returning to her thoughts about Harry. She wondered how much he knew. She wondered how he would react to what she told him. She wished Harry was on the train so she could speak to him right away but he always stayed at Hogwarts for the holidays.

When they finally arrived and made their way up to the castle, Jade gave her friends a swift goodbye and made her way up the marble staircase in search of the Gryffindor Common Room to find her friends.

"Ah, hello there." The man in the portrait guarding the Gryffindor Common Room smiled down at her. "How may I help you?"

"Is Harry Potter in there?" She asked him and he looked over her curiously.

"What do you want with Mr. Potter?"

"I need to speak to him." The man thought about this for a second and then smiled down at her again.

"I'm sure you can speak to him later during dinner." Jade rolled her eyes,

"Scurvy cur." She told the painting and his smile faltered. She raised her eyebrows, waiting. "Go on, that's your password isn't it?"

"How do you know that?"

"My friends were kind enough to tell me." She smirked and the portrait man seemed reluctant but then slowly swung free to let her in. She watched her step as she climbed into the portrait and then felt the heat from the lit fireplace as she walked into the red and gold-themed room.

"Jade!" She heard a voice call and she found Fred and George coming towards her quickly. "What are you doing here?" One of them asked, Jade took a second to look over both of them, trying to find a distinguishable feature about them. One of them always kept their hair neater than the other…

"Fred," Jade said slowly and his smile grew. Yes, Fred, Fred had the messier hair. Fred was also the one who liked to talk more. "I'm looking for Harry, have you-"
"What is a Slytherin doing here?" An older boy came up to them and Fred rolled his eyes.

"Easy, Lee. She's a friend." The other boy accepted Fred's reasoning and walked past them, giving her a lingering glare. Jade went to say something to him but Fred put an arm around her shoulder and led her over to the fireplace where Ron and Harry were sitting with Hermione. "I've brought you a present." He gestured towards her and the three of them looked up at her.

"Hey, Jade." Ron smiled at her.

"Hi… Harry, could I speak to you?" Harry looked at Ron for a second before rising from his seat.

"Um, yeah." Harry then led her away to an empty spot in the Common Room. "What's up?"

"How was your Christmas?" She asked, she wanted to try and ease into it instead of blurting out what she knew to him.

"Awful, yours?"

"Why was it awful?" She asked and Harry sighed.

"Well, I found out Sirius Black is the reason my parents are dead and that he's my godfather. Hagrid's a mess because Buckbeak is on some sort of trial-"
"Trial?" Jade interrupted him, she didn't have to worry about approaching the topic of Sirius Black because Harry brought it up himself.

"Yeah for attacking Malfoy." Jade didn't want to be steered away from what she planned on talking about so she raised her hand up to stop him.

"Wait, I wanted to talk to you about Sirius Black."

"What about him?"
"What do you know about him?" Jade asked,

"Just that he was my father's best friend and then he betrayed them and told Voldemort where they were hiding and now they're dead."

"My mother knew Sirius Black," Jade told him and Harry perked up at this. "She says…" Harry's eyes had gone wide and Jade felt small under his gaze. "She says that everything being said about Sirius Black isn't true." Harry furrowed his eyebrows at this.

"What else did she tell you?" Jade then went on to tell Harry all that her mother had told her, the whole time he just stood there, watching the floor. "That's different from what I heard."
"What did you hear?" Jade asked and Harry shook his head.

"A lot of what you said just with some different outcomes." He then looked up at her, "Your mother dated Black?" Jade rolled her eyes.

"Yes, apparently it's fascinating."

"What do you mean?"

"Pansy thought it was shocking."

"Pansy knows? Who else did you tell?"

"Just Blaise and… Draco." She paused before saying his name. Harry's eyes hardened at the mention of him.

"He knew."

"What?" Jade asked,

"Malfoy knew. Remember what he said in Potions? If it was him he'd hunt Black down for revenge."

"Yeah… I guess he did." She could tell Harry was getting frustrated as he shifted his weight again and looked past her.

"Hunting him down doesn't sound like a ridiculous idea after all." Jade gently placed a hand on her friend's shoulder and Harry focused on her again.

"You can't hunt him down, Harry. You're just a kid."

"So?"

"So, if what we've heard about him is true, he's dangerous and you would more than likely be killed."

"You sound like Hermione."

"And we both know she's always right." Harry sighed and looked back at her and Ron.

"Yeah, I don't know lately."

"Why, what's happened?"

"I was sent a Firebolt for Christmas." Jade's eyes widened at the news and a large smile spread across her lips.

"Harry! That's wonderful! The Firebolt is the absolute best, I can't wait to see-"
"Hermione got it taken away," Harry explained and her smile fell.

"What? Why?"

"She told Professor McGonagall about it and she believes Black sent it to me." Jade didn't understand why someone who was trying to murder Harry would get him such a luxurious gift. "McGonagall took it and is searching it for jinxes, it could take weeks."

"Oh, Harry, I'm sorry."

"I was upset with her but Ron was furious, it's mostly because of Crookshanks and Scabbers."

"Crookshanks?" Jade questioned.

"Hermione's cat." Jade didn't know Hermione had gotten a cat. "He's been trying to get a hold of Scabbers and it's causing Ron and Hermione to fight." Jade looked over at them to find Ron and Hermione sitting as far away as possible from each other.

"Sounds like I've missed a lot." Harry gave her a twitch of a smile. "How are you?"

"I'll feel better when I see Black dead or in chains. Preferably the first." Jade just nodded and the two of them rejoined the others. Apparently what she had shared with Harry wasn't enough to change his mind about Black. Jade took a seat next to Hermione, feeling like she could use a friend since the boys were both mad at her.

"What are you reading?" Jade asked and Hermione flipped it closed for a second so Jade could read the cover.

"Trying to find something that Hagrid may be able to use for Buckbeak."

"Right, so what's going on with that?" Now that she'd taken care of letting Harry know what she knew she could focus on the other tidbit of information Harry had shared.

"Lucius Malfoy filed a complaint about Draco's incident and now Hagrid and Buckbeak have to go in front of the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures."
"But it was an accident because Draco didn't listen and therefore got hurt."

"Yes, I know, we all know that, but his father was furious. Draco had to wear that sling for a long time." Hermione then scoffed, "He still complains about it hurting sometimes." Jade didn't need Hermione to tell her that, anytime Draco thought he could get away with it he complained that his healed arm was beginning to ache again. It was starting to lose its effect so he hadn't been doing it as much before they left for the break. "If Hagrid can't convince the committee that Buckbeak is a good Hippogriff that deserves a second chance they're going to kill him."

"Kill him? But it-" Jade stopped mid-sentence and Hermione waited for her to finish. "Excuse me." Jade got up and swiftly left the Gryffindor Common Room. She would talk with Draco, she'd make him talk to his father about all of this.
