Jade stayed in her room until it was time for Divination. She met up with Pansy and together they made the long journey up towards the Divination Tower.

"Wanna talk about it?" Pansy asked as they climbed the stairs.

"What? Malfoy didn't?" Jade sighed as they reached a landing and adjusted their bags and books before continuing.

"No, he hasn't said anything." She wasn't surprised, there was no way he could spin it that would make it seem like he came out on top.

"Nothing to talk about, Malfoy's…" She sighed again, she couldn't think of the right word. She opted out for a disgusted groan.

"Pissed you off this time, has he?" Jade looked at her friend sideways and waited for a moment as the ladder to the Divination classroom fell at her feet before climbing it without another word. "I'll take that as a yes." Her eyes took a second to adjust to the dim room before she spotted Draco leaning back and whispering to Theo.

"I'll talk to you after class," Jade mumbled as she started heading towards the Gryffindor side of the room.

"Wait, just sit with me today. I'll make Theo sit with Draco." The idea of watching the two boys trying to work together was tempting but she wanted nothing to do with the annoying blonde and if she sat near him he would just pester her the whole time.

"Next time." She told her and then joined Hermione, the other side of her table absent. Draco caught her eye as she sat down and she quickly corrected herself, turning her attention to Ron and Harry. "Mind if I join you?"

"Please." Hermione smiled.

"I thought we weren't starting crystal balls until next term." Ron leaned over to them slightly. Jade looked at the large crystal ball sat in front of her. Ron cast a look around the room for Professor Trelawney in case she was lurking near them.

"Don't complain, this means we've finished palmistry," Harry muttered back. "I was getting sick of her flinching every time she looked at my hands." Jade smiled but her good mood took a turn as Professor Trelawney made her usual dramatic entrance from the shadows.

"Good day to you!"

"Does she have to do that every time?" Jade mumbled and Hermione giggled quietly next to her.

"I have decided to introduce the crystal ball a little earlier than I had planned," Professor Trelawney sat with her back to the fire and gazed around. "The fates have informed me that your examination in June will concern the Orb, and I am anxious to give you sufficient practice." Hermione snorted.

"Well, honestly… 'The fates have informed her'. Who sets the exam? She does! What an amazing prediction!" she said, not troubling to keep her voice low. Professor Trelawney brought out a different side of Hermione that Jade found thoroughly amusing. Harry and Ron choked back laughs. It was hard to tell whether Professor Trelawney had heard her as her face was hidden in shadow.

"Crystal gazing is a particularly refined art," she went on dreamily. "I do not expect any of you to See when first you peer into the Orb's infinite depths. We shall start by practicing relaxing the conscious mind and external eyes." Ron began to snigger and Jade stared at him with narrowed eyes but she didn't mean it maliciously, they were funny and they weren't even trying to contain themselves. Ron turned the sniggering into a cough and then quickly stopped. "So as to clear the Inner Eye and the superconscious. Perhaps, if we are lucky, some of you will see before the end of the class." And with that, their 'lesson' began. Jade tried to focus on the crystal ball in front of her but every once in a while Hermione would cast an annoyed look at Professor Trelawney when she spoke. The silvery mist in the ball remained solid and she didn't know if it was because she wasn't really focusing or if it was because she wasn't going to see anything anyway. After all, it was just a crystal ball. It didn't help that Ron kept breaking into silent giggles and Hermione kept tutting.

"Seen anything yet?" Harry asked them after a while. Hermione and Jade shook their head in unison.

"Yeah, there's a burn on this table," Ron pointed at the mark on their table. "Someone's spilled their candle."

"This is such a waste of time." Hermione hissed. "I could be practicing something useful. I could be catching up on Cheering Charms —"

"Didn't you just go to Charms?" Jade asked,

"She missed the class," Ron told her, and Jade's mouth fell open.

"You missed a class?" Before she could reply, Professor Trelawney whisked behind them.

"Would anyone like me to help them interpret the shadowy portents within their Orb?" she murmured over the clinking of her bracelets.

"I don't need help," Ron whispered to her in the quiet room, "It's obvious what this means." Trelawney nodded encouragingly. "There's going to be loads of fog tonight." Both Harry and Hermione burst out laughing and it made Jade jump slightly.

"Now, really!" Professor Trelawney sighed, irritated. Everyone's heads turned in their direction. Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown narrowed their eyes at them, how dare Jade and the others mock the art of Divination. "You are disturbing the clairvoyant vibrations!" She approached their tables. Jade and Hermione unconsciously leaned away from their Professor, a practiced gesture that became a habit now. She looked into Harry's ball and the residue of his smile quickly vanished. Any time Professor Trelawney "helped" Harry it was always about his impending doom, his death quickly approaching, or how he should be watching out for suspicious people in his life. After the first dozen times, it rapidly lost its shock value, to them at least. Parvati and Lavender remind him to take it seriously, Professor Trelawney was looking out for him and she knew what she was talking about because she was a professional. "There is something here!" Professor Trelawney gasped, lowering her face to the ball so that it was reflected twice in her huge glasses. Everything she did had to have an unnecessary flair of drama. "Something moving… but what is it?" The whole class was watching now. "My dear," Professor Trelawney breathed, gazing up at Harry. "It is here, plainer than ever before… my dear, stalking toward you, growing ever closer… the Gr —"

"Oh, for goodness' sake!" Hermione interrupted loudly. "Not that ridiculous Grim again!" Professor Trelawney raised her eyes to Hermione's face. Parvati whispered something to Lavender, and they both glared at Hermione too until Jade moved herself in their line of vision and held eye contact until they uncomfortably looked away. Professor Trelawney stood up from her crouched position, looking Hermione over with obvious anger, clearly losing patience for Hermione's disrespectful interruptions. "I am sorry to say that from the moment you have arrived in this class my dear, it has been apparent that you do not have what the noble art Divination requires. Indeed, I don't remember ever meeting a student whose mind was so hopelessly mundane." Well, that was rude. Jade wished to say but she thought better of it.

"Fine!" Hermione huffed, getting up and cramming 'Unfogging the Future' back into her bag. "Fine!" she repeated, her face a slight shade of red. She swung her bag over her shoulder and almost knocked Ron off his chair.

"Where are you going?" Jade whispered, trying to stay quiet. It was useless, you could hear a stomach growl in the silence of the Divination classroom.

"I give up! I'm leaving!" Hermione replied, not breaking her stride. She went over to the trapdoor entrance, kicked it open, and climbed the ladder without another word. Whispers immediately filled the room, it was incredibly annoying how everyone talked about everything. By tonight she was sure everyone would hear about how Hermione Granger talked back to a teacher and stormed out of class. She wondered if her friend would get in trouble. Maybe it would turn out well, that was one less class Hermione had to focus on. Hermione's outburst had distracted Professor Trelawney from her newest discovery of the Grim in Harry's future, she turned abruptly from Harry and Ron's table, breathing rather heavily as she tugged her gauzy shawl more closely to her.

"Ooh!" Lavender exclaimed, making everyone stop. "Ooh, Professor Trelawney, I've just remembered! You saw her leaving, didn't you? Didn't you, Professor? 'Around Easter, one of our number will leave us forever!' You said it ages ago, Professor!" Professor Trelawney gave her a dewy smile. "Yes, my dear, I did indeed know that Miss Granger would be leaving us. One hopes, however, that one might have mistaken the Signs… The Inner Eye can be a burden, you know…" Jade rolled her eyes.

"Oh, please." Professor Trelawney turned on Jade and for a moment Jade was going to argue with her. Professor Trelawney always gave Hermione a jab but she did it with a kind smile so others didn't mind. They butted heads often but Hermione came off looking like the disrespectful one. "Ridiculous," Jade muttered and looked away from the teacher, Professor Trelawney pursed her lips before moving over to the other side of the room to join Lavender and Parvati.

"Some day Hermione's having, eh?" Ron whispered.

"Yeah…" Harry seemed distracted as he glanced into the crystal ball in front of him. Divination was the last class before their Easter holiday so when it finally ended a huge relief flooded over Jade… until she remembered all the homework that was assigned.

Jade decided to stay at Hogwarts for her Easter holiday, it would be easier to focus, she told herself. A bonus was that Draco had gone home, so she wouldn't have to deal with running into him. She was still angry with him for his unsympathetic mocking of Hagrid. Pansy had gone as well, which gave her the whole room to herself. The first few days were alright but after a while, she began missing her friends, she saw them at meals and then would return to her room to try and put a dent in the pile of work she had to do. She didn't see how just moving her things up to the Common Room to study with her friends would hurt… maybe she could take a small break, she convinced herself she deserved it. She made her way to the door but paused for a moment and went back to grab some work just in case. An echo of laughter bounced off the stone walls as she climbed the stairs to the Common Room. She found Gretta, Theo, and Blaise working together at one of the tables. She approached them quietly and set her stuff down at the empty seat, catching their attention.

"Well, look who it is." Theo hummed. "Come to join the land of the living again?"

"I was just trying to finish Snape's work without getting distracted." She told him.

"Do you need any help?" Blaise asked, glancing at the work she had brought.

"No, I think I figured it out."

"I'm almost done!" Gretta exclaimed proudly. "I can help you later if you want." She offered.

"Alright, we get it, you're a genius." Theo grinned at Gretta and she blushed.

"How are you almost done?" Jade asked, taking her seat.

"I don't think I got as much work as you three did. It was all about stuff I remember or have notes on."

"She's a better student than us." Theo summarized and Jade smiled. Blaise set aside the parchment he finished in a grand gesture and then reached for another on top of his pile.

"I take notes. Notes cut the time in half." Jade objected.

"Fine she's better than me."

"Well, we knew that already," Blaise noted with a few strokes of his quill.

"You hurt me, Blaise." Theo sighed and Gretta tapped her quill on Theo's work.

"You're never going to finish if you keep getting distracted." Theo sent a pointed look Jade's way before picking up his quill again. Jade saw Blaise working on something from Transfiguration and found the same questions on a parchment of her own and she quickly jotted down the answers to the questions Blaise had already answered. It was a comfortable silence they worked in until it was time for dinner and they all traveled down together. Blaise brought down something from Herbology, he was breezing through all his work, that's how Jade knew they had given them a huge amount of homework and not that it just felt like it to her, because Blaise was still writing, it didn't take him long to finish but after one there was another and another and it felt endless.

"Anyone hear from Pansy?" Jade asked, she'd expected a letter but didn't get one, maybe she'd written to someone else.

"No, got a few letters from Draco though," Blaise said as he wrote. He hadn't written Jade, she didn't realize until then that she was bothered he hadn't written to her.

"Hear anything from him?" Theo asked and Jade shook her head before looking down at her food and continuing to eat in silence. "What happened between the two of you?" Theo asked.

"Nothing." Jade responded, "I just don't like how he acts sometimes."

"Agreed," Blaise mumbled. "But what can you do?"

"Exactly." Jade nodded. "Nothing I can do to change him, so I'm keeping my distance."

"Draco tolerance running low, huh?" Theo joked and it coaxed a small smile from Jade but she forced it, she didn't want her friends to think they'd upset her.

"He's in a twist about it," Blaise answered, finally looking up from his parchment.

"What?" Jade asked,

"You not talking to him. Put him in a foul mood, he's unpleasant to be around most of the time now."

"So leave." Jade said simply, "Ignore him."

"No," Blaise told her. "He's my friend. I'm not just going to ignore him 'cause he gets annoying sometimes." Jade looked up and found Blaise looking at her. A deliberate look to follow his words and a tick of annoyance made her scoff.

"Right." She looked behind her to find Harry and the others huddled together, books and parchment all around them as they ate. "I'll catch up with you later."
"Good job, Blaise." Gretta sighed.

"Now she's leavin'," Theo added and Jade paused when she stood.

"No, it's fine. I just have to talk to them about something." Her gaze traveled to the left to find Blaise already looking back at his parchment. She took the few long strides over to the Gryffindor table and sank in a seat next to Fred. A different energy overtook her and quickly washed away the tension in her shoulders and the firm clench of her jaw.

"So you must catch it only if we're more than fifty points up." Oliver Wood was leaning in towards Harry, trying to catch his eye as he ate.

"What's he on about?" Jade asked.

"Quidditch, what else?" Fred told her. She'd never met a person more obsessed with the sport. She wanted to tell Wood to back off, he must realize how much pressure he's putting on Harry but she stayed quiet, she was from the opposing team and she didn't know what he'd say to her if she spoke against him. She found Ron on the other side of Wood, his nose buried in a book.

"Ron?" Jade called to him but he didn't move. "Ron?" Jade repeated a bit louder and he looked over the top of his book.

"Oh, hey." He smiled.

"What you got there?" She asked. Ron angled the book so she could see the cover. 'The Handbook of Hippogriff Psychology', it was a large text, one normally found in Hermione's hands.

"I wanted to help with Buckbeak." Ron told her, "I think I might've found some stuff."

"Yeah, right, take a break from all that." Fred swatted towards the book and Ron pulled back from the table. "The match is on Saturday, trying being in House spirit." Slytherin was currently in the lead of the tournament by about two hundred points.

"You've got that, haven't you?" She heard Wood say. "You must catch the Snitch only if we're-"

"I know, Oliver!" Harry yelled.

"Maybe you guys could talk later?" Jade offered and Wood looked at her and then back at Harry.

"Okay, later, Harry." Wood told him before leaving and Harry looked to Jade.

"Thank you."

"You looked like you could use a break."

"Everyone's telling me how much they want to win, but it's nothing compared to how much I want to win. I want to beat them, Malfoy more than the others… for Buckbeak." Harry paused, realizing he was talking to a Slytherin but Jade nodded, she understood.

"I get it, there's a lot of pressure on you." Jade leaned in over the table and whispered. "I'd like you to win too." It wasn't a lie, she would be overjoyed if her team won and they could celebrate with an amazing party that lasted well into the night but would she be mad if Gryffindor won? No, she'd be happy for them, she'd be happy for Harry, she knew the match relied heavily on him more than anyone else.

There were a few days before the match but by the time Thursday came and students were starting to return, the castle was filled with a growing charge of excitement. Everything was fine over the break but when everyone was back, the tension between the two teams and the two houses was at a snapping point. Jade didn't dare go near her Gryffindor friends, her housemates would have something to say and she didn't want to be shunned for fraternizing with the enemy. Several small scuffles broke out in the corridors, culminating in a nasty incident in which a Gryffindor fourth year and a Slytherin sixth year ended up in the hospital wing with leeks sprouting out of their ears. Jade would sit at the Slytherin table during meals and look over at the Gryffindor table, Wood had them hunched over in a small circle at the end of the table. She didn't see much of Draco, Marcus Flint was hogging all of his time and attention and Jade was grateful for it, it kept him away from her. But that changed when Saturday morning came and she caught glimpses of Draco, no snark, no sarcasm, not even a grin. He was all business and he looked tired despite the adrenaline beginning to fill the Slytherin quidditch team's veins. He looked pale, more so than usual, and he didn't touch his food until Marcus Flint shoved his plate closer to him and told him he'd need it.

"Did he say anything to you?" Jade asked Blaise.

"No, haven't seen him much since he came back, Flint's been keeping him busy."

"I'm so nervous," Pansy added, looking down at her food in disgust. "I'm not even the one playing, his stomach must be doing flips."

"I think we've got a good chance," Theo smirked. "Sure, Potter's got that Firebolt but the rest of his team has brooms under the Nimbus 2001, they'll be slower."

"Not by much," Jade said and they all looked at her. "I'm not cheering for them." Jade felt she had to add, now wasn't the time to remind everyone she had friends on the other side. "We have to be smarter than them, it can't just come down to speed alone."

"You think Flint knows that?" Theo asked. "He's more of a brute force type."

"He better, if he wants to win," Pansy mumbled and they all glanced over at their house team, no jokes were being made, no small talk at all, they all looked determined and Jade would've been nervous if she was on the Gryffindor team, it was a frightening sight. The time finally came for the students to make their way to the pitch and they all practically ran to the stands. It was the most anticipated game of the year. The Slytherin team was further up than Jade but she kept an eye on the silver-blonde head. She had a strong urge to talk to him then, try and ease his nerves which must've been a hundred times worse than her own. Harry was the star performer on the Gryffindor team and Draco would face off against him for the title, the pressure must be suffocating for the both of them. She was still angry at him though, she fought with herself the whole way there. Should she speed up and catch him or should she stay back and let him go? Her time was running out and the teams were beginning to disappear into the locker rooms. Jade put her pride aside and hurried her pace,

"Draco!" She called out and the whole team paused, Jade felt an embarrassing flush heat her cheeks. She came to stand in front of him, "Can I talk to you?" Draco looked to Flint who looked her up and down.

"Just a minute, Malfoy." He told him and then disappeared into the locker room with the rest of his team. The few students that took up the end of the army heading to the stands were flying past them to get a good seat.

"How are you?" Jade asked. She felt awkward, she didn't know if he'd want to talk to her but she kept what Blaise said in her mind.

"Fine." He answered after a few seconds, as if he was debating with himself if he should answer her.

"Honestly?" She asked and it was the first time she saw him smile in a while.

"Fine." He repeated.

"You're a bad liar." She grinned. "I just wanted to…" Wanted to let you know I'm still angry at you, let you know I haven't forgiven you, let you know I'm worried about you, let you know I miss talking to you. "Wish you good luck." She finished lamely but the grin on his face grew to a beautiful true smile and set ease to the nerves in her stomach temporarily.

"Thanks… I needed that."

"I'm sure you've got a bunch of fans in the stands that'll be rooting for you." She said.

"Only one I really care about." He told her and looked down the tunnel that led to the locker room.

"I'll let you go." She told him and he nodded. She turned around and made her way to the entrance of the stands. She felt that could've gone better, but it also could've gone worse.

"Maddex!" She heard him call for her and she turned. "Will I see you cheering for me?"

"If you can find me." She laughed.

"I'll find you." He called. Yeah, she was mad at him. Yeah, he was an asshole sometimes. But, he was her best friend, and she would love to be able to stay mad at him forever to avoid the drama and irritation that came with him but she couldn't bring herself to do that.

"I'll be the loudest." She promised and hurried back to find her friends. Draco watched her figure until it disappeared, he'd planned to tell her off, tell her to stay away from him because he wanted nothing to do with her anymore, but as soon as she stood in front of him with that pretty color rushing to her cheeks and the nervous glance up at him she did through her lashes, he knew all those thoughts were gobshit.

"Malfoy!" He heard Flint call for him and he quickly stumbled before joining his team for the prematch rally. Jade found Blaise and the others with large effort and a whole bunch of sorrys as she budged through the crowd.

"Feel better?" Blaise was smirking down at the pitch but Jade was just happy he didn't come at her with a big 'I told you so'.

"Yes."

"So, you and Malfoy are friends again?" Theo asked.

"We've been friends," Jade told him. He didn't like this response and instead of replying he opted out for an eye roll and judgemental silence. Jade looked around and saw a bunch of banners waving around the stadium. Everyone who wasn't a Slytherin was wearing some form of scarlet in support of the Gryffindors. They were alone in this fight against Gryffindor, no one wanted them to win. LIONS FOR THE CUP and GO GRYFFINDOR flew around obnoxiously. Slytherin had their own banners but it felt stupid when three-quarters of the stadium was red.

"And here are the Gryffindors!" Lee Jordan yelled as the team walked out of their locker room. "Potter, Bell, Johnson, Spinnet, Weasley, Weasley, and Wood. Widely acknowledged as the best team Hogwarts has seen in a good few years-" At that comment, Lee was drowned out by a large tide of boos from the Slytherin side. Jade didn't feel bad as she participated, her House needed her support much more than the Gryffindors did. "And here come the Slytherin team, led by Captain Flint. He's made some changes in the lineup and seems to be going for size rather than skill-" Slytherins objected once again but Theo and Blaise shared a look, they'd just been talking about this at breakfast.

"Captains, shake hands!" Madam Hooch announced. Flint and Wood approached each other and grasped each other's hand, it looked as though each was trying to break the other's fingers. "Mount your brooms!" They all did as she instructed. "Three… two… one…" The sound of her whistle was lost in the roar from the crowd as fourteen brooms rose into the air. Jade found Draco immediately and though he'd told her he'd find her, he was completely focused on Harry at the moment.

"And it's Gryffindor in possession, Alicia Spinner of Gryffindor with the Quaffle heading straight for the Slytherin goal posts, looking good, Alicia! Quaffle intercepted by Warrington, Warrington of Slytherin tearing up the field. WHAM! Nice Bludger work there by George Weasley, Warrington drops the Quaffle, it's caught by Johnson. Gryffindor back in possession, come on, Angelina, nice swerve around Montague. Duck, Angelina, that's a Bludger! She scores! Ten-zero to Gryffindor!" Lee Jordan sometimes allowed his favorship of Gryffindor cloud his commentating but now it was just ridiculous, he was practically an all-knowing eye for them as he instructed Alicia of every move Slytherin made. Jade only listened to him though to know what was going on in the game, she kept her attention on Harry and Draco, or she tried to anyway. A large gasp from the crowd caught her attention and she saw Marcus Flint crash into Angelina Johnson. The crowd began to boo. Jade watched as Fred chucked his Beater's club at the back of Flint's head.

"Oh my god!" Jade gasped, it was obvious this match would be like one they'd never seen before. Flint turned and the bat smashed into his nose.

"That will do!" Madam Hooch zoomed between them, she'd never had to interfere before. "Penalty shot to Gryffindor for an unprovoked attack on their Chaser! Penalty shot to Slytherin for deliberate damage to their Chaser!"

"Come off it, Miss!" Jade could hear Fred yell but Madam Hooch blew her whistle and Alicia flew forward to take the penalty.

"Come on, Alicia!" Lee yelled into the silence that had descended on the crowd. As the players all froze to wait for the penalties Jade found Draco and Harry high in the air. Peering into her binoculars she found Draco grinning down at her. A large smile split her face and she pulled her binoculars away to wave up at him. Draco looked around for a second before sticking his hand out just at his side to gesture back to her. "YES! SHE'S BEATEN THE KEEPER! TWENTY-ZERO TO GRYFFINDOR!" Jordan boomed.

"Aren't you two adorable?" Blaise whispered down into her ear and she pushed her elbow into his side.

"Funny man, making jokes now?" She asked and was then shushed by a student in front of her. It was Flint's turn now, he flew forward to take the Slytherin penalty. " 'Course, Wood's a superb Keeper!" Jordan went on, Jade could tell he was going to be annoying like this the whole game. "Superb! Very difficult to pass, very difficult indeed. YES! I DON'T BELIEVE IT! HE'S SAVED IT!" Jade looked up in time to see Harry and Draco take off once again. "Gryffindor in possession, no, Slytherin in possession... no Gryffindor back in possession and it's Katie Bell, Katie Bell for Gryffindor with the Quaffle, she's streaking up the field- THAT WAS DELIBERATE!" Montague, a Slytherin Chaser, had swerved in front of Katie, and instead of seizing the Quaffle, he had grabbed her head. Katie cart-wheeled in the air, managed to stay on her broom, but dropped the Quaffle. Madam Hooch's whistle rang out again as she soared over to Montague and began shouting at him. A minute later, Katie had put another penalty past the Slytherin Seeker. "THIRTY-ZERO! TAKE THAT, YOU DIRTY, CHEATING —"

"Jordan, if you can't commentate in an unbiased way-" Professor McGonagall finally spoke up.

"I'm telling it like it is, Professor!" Harry took off towards the Slytherin end of the field with Draco closely on his tail. A bludger soared past Harry's head, catching his attention but then another bludger was close behind and grazed his elbow. One of the Slytherin Beaters was now going after Harry and then a second later the second Beater was coming at him from the other side. He turned the Firebolt upward at the last second, and Bole and Derrick collided with a sickening crunch. Jade grimaced as the boys' heads flew back at the contact. "Too bad, boys! You'll need to get up earlier than that to beat a Firebolt! And it's Gryffindor in possession again, as Johnson takes the Quaffle, Flint alongside her, poke him in the eye, Angelina! It was a joke, Professor, it was a joke." He added as an afterthought. "Oh no, Flint in possession, Flint flying toward the Gryffindor goal posts, come on now, Wood, save-" But Flint had scored; there was an eruption of cheers from the Slytherin end, and Jordan swore so badly that Professor McGonagall tried to tug the magical megaphone away from him. "Sorry, Professor, sorry! Won't happen again!" McGonagall gave him another chance. "So, Gryffindor in the lead, thirty points to ten, and Gryffindor in possession." Enraged that Gryffindor had taken such an early lead, the Slytherins began playing dirty to take the Quaffle. Bole, a Slytherin Beater, hit Alicia with his club and tried to say he'd thought she was a Bludger. George Weasley elbowed Bole in the face in retaliation. Madam Hooch awarded both teams penalties, and Wood pulled off another spectacular save, making the score forty-ten to Gryffindor. Both teams were pissed off at each other, both teams constantly trying to get a chance to get physical with the other. Draco and Harry flew around up high, doing laps around the stadium. Katie scored. Fifty-ten. Fred and George were swooping around her, clubs raised, in case any of the Slytherins were thinking of revenge. Bole and Derrick, the other Beater, took advantage of Fred's and George's absence to aim both Bludgers at Wood. Finally, a strategic move. They caught him in the stomach, one after the other. Wood rolled over in the air, clutching his broom trying to get some air into his lungs.

"YOU DO NOT ATTACK THE KEEPER UNLESS THE QUAFFLE IS WITHIN THE SCORING AREA!" Madam Hooch shrieked at Bole and Derrick. "Gryffindor penalty!" And Angelina scored. Sixty-ten. Moments later, Fred Weasley pelted a Bludger at Warrington, knocking the Quaffle out of his hands; Alicia seized it and put it through the Slytherin goal. Seventy-ten. The Gryffindor crowd was screaming itself hoarse and the Slytherins were struggling to keep intensity. Gryffindor was sixty points in the lead, and if Harry caught the Snitch now, the Cup was theirs. Harry and Draco must've caught sight of the Snitch because they both took off at the same time higher into the air. Harry gained a little distance and reached his hand out, but in an effort to keep him away, Draco stretched and grabbed onto the tail end of Harry's broom and pulled.

"He can't do that, can he?" Jade asked and Blaise shook his head at her side. Harry swatted back at Draco but couldn't reach him. Draco had distracted Harry long enough for Harry to lose sight of the Snitch.

"Penalty! Penalty to Gryffindor! I've never seen such tactics." Madam Hooch screeched again, shooting up to where Draco was sliding back onto his Nimbus Two Thousand and One.

"YOU CHEATING SCUM!" Lee Jordan was howling into the megaphone, dancing out of Professor McGonagall's reach. "YOU FILTHY, CHEATING B —" Jade looked to Professor McGonagall to do something but she was shaking her finger in Draco's direction, her hat had fallen off, and she too was shouting furiously. The Slytherin crowd took the matter into their own hands then and they turned their shouts at Jordan in the Commentator box. Alicia took Gryffindor's penalty, but she was so angry she missed by several feet. The Gryffindor team was losing concentration and the Slytherins, delighted by Draco's foul on Harry, were being spurred on to greater heights. "Slytherin in possession, Slytherin heading for goal, Montague scores." Lee groaned and a new wave of energy washed over the Slytherin crowd and Jade hollered as loud as her voice would let her. "Seventy-twenty to Gryffindor…" Jade could see the anger on Harry's face as he stayed close to Draco's side, their knees kept hitting each other. Draco yelled something at Harry and tried to turn but Harry quickly cut him off. "Angelina Johnson gets the Quaffle for Gryffindor, come on, Angelina, COME ON!" Every Slytherin player apart from Draco was streaking up the pitch toward Angelina, including the Slytherin Keeper, they were all going to block her. Harry wheeled the Firebolt around, bent so low he was lying flat along the handle, and kicked it forward. Like a bullet, he shot toward the Slytherins. They scattered as the Firebolt zoomed toward them, Angelina's way was clear. It was brilliant to watch Harry perform such a move but she kept her admiration inside as the Slytherins around her booed. "SHE SCORES! SHE SCORES! Gryffindor leads by eighty Points to twenty!" Harry, who had almost pelted headlong into the stands, skidded to a halt in midair, reversed, and zoomed back into the middle of the field. But when Jade found Draco again he was diving, a triumphant look on his face. He found it, he found the Snitch and Harry had been distracted, a huge distance between Harry and Draco. Harry saw Draco diving and urged the Firebolt downward, he was gaining on Draco, Harry flattened himself to the broom handle as Bole sent a Bludger at him, Harry effortlessly moved out of the way, he was at Draco's ankles, he was level, Harry threw himself forward and took both hands off his broom. There was a gasp from the crowd, He knocked Draco's arm out of the way and the next few seconds were silent as they waited to see who had gotten it. "YES!" Harry's yell was faint in the large area but then he shot his hand in the air and a tiny ball of gold was clutched in his hand. The stadium exploded and then Wood was speeding toward him, he seized Harry around the neck and sobbed unrestrainedly into his shoulder. The rest of the team circled Harry and gave him claps on the back of celebration. They got off their brooms and all ran together in a group hug before sinking to the ground together. Wave upon wave of crimson supporters poured over the barriers onto the field. Jade was happy for them, yes, but she felt the loss for her team much heavier than she thought she would. She barely caught a glimpse of Draco as the team headed back into the locker room. She wanted to join her Gryffindor friends and congratulate them, the large crowd of support making her smile but she wanted to go back to her Common Room more and be there for Draco and the rest of her friends. They watched as Dumbledore handed Harry the Quidditch Cup and then silently emptied the stands and made their way back up to the castle.
