uh so yeah if u havent noticed i changed all my stories to present tense now just to make it easier on me.

Percy groans, his muscles sore per usual after every practice.

He appreciates the pain, it's an escape from reality.

Not chlorine though, chlorine may be a familiar scent and all, but that thing is a hair-killer.

And Percy's hair is already messed up enough as it is.

He pushes the door open and makes his way towards his first grueling class: Biology 1.

Last year, he took a useless Physical Science class––as a freshman. It legitimately did nothing to help him graduate so he likes to think of it as a wasted year.

The door is already propped open with a stop, and there are a few classmates in early. None of them look entirely familiar, well, that isn't fair because he doesn't have many friends, to begin with, either.

Percy shoulders the bag and takes a seat next to the window. Ignoring the ongoing stares, he pulls out his binder awkwardly and pretends to scribble on it.

The boy smiles at a girl staring at him, although not in the way you'd want someone to be looking at you. Much more like pity, hatred, or something near that figure.

She holds his gaze, which really wasn't expected.

Startled Percy glances back down, looking at the seven overlapping messy circles that he's drawn on his notes. Now they're more illegible than before. Great.

Soon, the bell rings, and Percy sits through the class, listening intently to what name the teacher's pet was, or how many kids they had.

It might be handy for the quizzes coming later in the week.

He shakes his pencil in his hand, he's never done well with mechanical ones for some reason. Perhaps because they break too easily (the lead).

"For the first assignment of this hopefully wonderful school year," the teacher began. He said it as if he was hoping for that, truly. "We have to get to know each other!"

The class began to groan, they all knew what this meant.

Percy kicks back on his chair, and closes his eyes, rubbing his temples.

He does not want to meet new people today. He's not in the mood.

"I'll be passing around worksheets, and you'll be interviewing the person sitting next to you––your deskmate for the remainder of the semester."

Percy throws a quick glance at the person sitting to the left of him, perhaps he'd get lucky and be will a chill guy.

Apparently, life was after him because he was seated next to a brunette, and by the looks of her, she wasn't chill at all.

She smiles at him, and their eyes catch––it takes a moment for him to actually realize the beauty of her eyes, they changed color every fraction of a second, every movement she made, the refraction of the light bent, and the colors changed.

Forgive him for the terrible wording, Percy had never been the ace in middle school science.

"Hey!" She pulls her desk next to his, and he's already thinking no no no no, don't come near me.

But she does it anyway because of course she can't read minds.

"Hello," he returns, with a brisk nod. "I suppose we'll be working together now."

She stares at him. "You're weird." She declares.

The tension that was built up finally broke down. They grab their worksheets and Percy scribbles his name onto her sheet of paper for no apparent reason.

"Hey!" The girl takes it to offense and neatly writes hers onto Percy's paper. "Porky, huh?"

"Excuse me?" He chokes.

"That's your name. I must say, I was right, you are weird."

"It's not Porky!" He says, waving his hands. "It's Percy. P-E-R-C-Y."

She studies her paper again. "Nope, I'm pretty sure it's Porky."
