A/N: Hi there! It's great to be back! A few notes before we start:
This takes place right after S1 finale
I'm Brazilian and do not have a beta reader. So, any mistakes are on me. If you wanna help, DM me and let me know where I screwed up!
My motivation for writing this is just so I can have more time with these amazing characters and story. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
Multi Chapter. I have no idea where this is going. I may take suggestions from the comments (but this is not a promise).
This is fan-fiction. So, please, have in mind that I'm just borrowing the characters and world build.
First reunion
"Compassion is not a weakness. It is a gift. To be embraced."
When Juliette knelt by Theo in that bathroom, her father's words echoed in her mind. The poor man was suffering, his heartbeat slower as the seconds flew by. He asked her for help. Pleaded.
She thought she was doing the right thing.
She closed her eyes and could only see Calliope's tears running down her cheeks. The despair of losing a brother like that. Watching as life left his body so slowly. The young hunter could not even say goodbye.
As Juliette drained Theo's last bits of blood, she thought of her loved one. This was the beginning of something new.
So much has happened so fast.
In just a few days, her whole world had crumbled.
Elinor had proven what she was capable of. Her parents had changed. Even Oliver was back, and she had no idea how she felt about that.
Monsters of all kinds began to appear in Savannah.
Two of her friends had already died.
She had already done her first kill.
The thirst.
The urge to have more.
And there was Calliope, with her deep, hypnotic brown eyes. Her full, soft lips. Her electric touch. And her damned hot temper. So strong. Yet, so fragile.
How was it possible for someone to fall so deeply in love with someone they barely knew?
Juliette had no clue… All she knew was that, ever since that first kiss in the pantry, she could never let go of Call.
That was why it hurt so badly to see how furious and hurt the poor girl was after finding out that Theo had been turned into a vampire.
Betrayed.
That's how Calliope felt at that moment. And, for Juliette, that hurt much more than any stake that could pierce through her heart.
"Sorry won't bring my brother back!"
Calliope's voice cracked as she fought the tears back. Those words played over and over in Juliette's mind.
"You're a very 'special' kind of monster." She had said with disgust.
As Juliette drove off, that week kept playing in her mind. Like a movie that she could not control.
There was no safe place for her to go back.
"I will spend the rest of my life trying to figure out how to kill you and every Legacy like you."
A year had passed since Calliope made that vow.
Every second she spent awake was fully dedicated to those words.
She had trained harder than ever. Studied each and every book her parents had about Legacy vampires. She went out on multiple hunts, just so she would be prepared for when that day would come.
By the time she turned 18, her left arm counted thirteen marks.
Savannah was flooded by monsters.
Even though she wanted to leave, it was her duty to stay and protect those people.
The Guild had forgiven her for her past actions. Not without a close look, of course. They tested her at any chance they had. Even tracked down her phone to see if she had been getting calls from her.
But since that dreadful night, Call had not seen or heard anything from the Fairmonts. The bloodsuckers had vanished without a trace to be found.
Well… At least not in person.
Juliette still haunted her dreams.
Call was not sure if that was on purpose. All she knew was that, as soon as she'd fall asleep, she'd see that sweet smile. Those gentle eyes. That soft soft touch.
Her body craved to be touched once more by Juliette.
At first, she'd fight those feelings. Even in her dreams, her hate and anger were too much to bear. It always started the same: in her lawn, fighting against Miss Perfect Monster.
She would always win: the stake would go right through the petite's heart.
But, instead of dying, Juliette would laugh.
"Feeling better, now?" She'd say, pulling the stake out of her own chest. "Ugh, this hurts." She finished with a grimace, her fangs out.
Suddenly, they'd be on Juliette's bed, with the small girl on top of her, kissing her softly.
"I miss you." She'd whisper in the hunter's ear.
A shiver would run down her spine as those pink lips caressed her neck.
"I love you."
Jules' hands would make their way freely over Call's body, teasing, until finally reaching that sweet spot in between her legs.
"You know… You never let me touch you…" Her nails pressed against her thighs. Calliope let out a sigh. She wanted that so badly. She needed Juliette. "May I?"
Her heartbeat raced as she felt sharp fangs pressed against her neck. The hunter wanted to scream YES! But her mouth felt so dry… Not a single word would come out.
This was wrong.
She could not believe she was so eager to let a vampire feed from her!
That thought alone was enough to awake her, soaked in sweat.
Too afraid to go back to sleep - or rather, go back into those dreams - the young woman would get up, take a cold shower, and relieve her frustrations into her punching bag.
Jab, jab, hook. Fucking bloodsucker! Jab, jab, cross. Fucking monsters! Jab, jab, slip. Fucking Guild! Jab, cross, hook. Where the hell was her brother?
As the last punch hit the bag, tears started to flow once more.
Would that pain ever go away?
Sat on the floor, exhausted and afraid, Calliope let her feelings take the best of her.
Outside there, she was tough. Ruthless, even.
Even Apollo had stopped messing with her.
She had turned into a killing machine.
But right now? She was just a broken girl who had lost her friends, her love, and her brother.
She had lost everything.
With her head buried on her knees, the girl stayed there as the dawn showed its first signs.
Where the hell was Theo?
High heels clicked against the cold hard cement.
It was one of those nights… Just warm enough to have a perfect walk in the park. She had drunk a bit too much and was feeling giggly.
Oh, what a week!
First, a promotion. Then, an all inclusive trip for two that she had won in a prize draw. Not that she had anyone she wanted to take with her, anyways. But it was cool, nevertheless. And now, this amazing evening.
At last, luck was smiling at her!
"Isn't it too late for a lady like you to be wandering around alone?"
The voice startled her. She looked around, confused about where it had come from. She checked her watch. Just about 1am.
"Is not safe out here at this time…" The voice said once again, softly. The girl felt something was off. A shudder ran through her body. Suddenly, she felt sober.
Checking her surroundings once more, she finally spotted. A form, hidden in the shadows. A light flickered and she could see a yellow spark where the form was stooding.
"Do you want some company?"
"Hm… No, thanks. I'm almost home." That's what she wanted to answer. Instead, she heard herself saying, almost in an inaudible tone. "Yes, please."
The form moved out from the shadows, slowly approaching the girl.
"What do you think about having a good time?" A mischievous smile spread across their face with each step closer.
Suddenly, she felt very cold, as if it had started snowing.
She tried to run. To scream. To fight.
But it was too late. It was as if she was frozen in place, her eyes absolutely focused on yellow ones.
"Don't worry. I'll make sure you'll feel good too."
The third time in that week.
Calliope looked at the phone vibrating in her hand once more. In her mind, she thought about what the hell was going on. Had she missed something? Any clue would be great.
That was starting to get ridiculous.
Almost every other day, a drunk, young woman would call Call's phone late at night. They asked how she was doing, if she wanted to come over and have a drink.
At first, she thought it could be a prank. But it was a different number every time, and their voices sound nothing like each other.
Maybe someone had posted her number on some weird ad? But that did not make sense either.
So she eventually indulged into conversation. She would talk to those women, trying to get some kind of information about what was going on. They sounded drunk, but there was something more to it…
A spell, maybe.
But why would someone do that?
A few times she even met some of them. She wanted to be sure they were ok.
This was absolutely strange… No bruises or injuries of any kind. No mental damage whatsoever.
For all that matters, those women were fine!
But Calliope knew there was something else to it. And she was determined to find out what.
This time, it was a private number. She picked up, without saying a word.
"You look beautiful tonight." For a moment, the hunter thought her heart had stopped. This couldn't be. She remained still, her grip closing harder at the stake she was holding. "There's no need to get so tense. I just wanna talk."
"What do you want?"
"I just told you. I wanna talk."
They both stayed in silence for what it felt like an eternity.
"Look…" The vampire started. "I need your help."
That caught Calliope by surprise. She blinked, as if trying to shake off the confusion "What?"
"Open the door."
With caution, the hunter slowly got up from the couch and walked towards her apartment door. After that whole mess happened in the previous year, she had decided to move out.
She was still working with her parents and Apollo. But she could not deal with her mother's lost gaze. Nor the fights between her parents because of Theo's situation. Everything was too much to deal with.
So she found a place where she could be alone.
Close enough from home. But in a safe distance.
She opened the door, stake in hand, knowing all too well who would be on the other side.
Brown eyes immediately met green ones.
A small smile formed on those pink lips.
Calliope knew.
"May I?"
