I was actually going to wait a bit longer to post this, but decided to just go for. So here you go, the first chapter of Fallen Kingdom. We'll see how often I update, with school and all.

And before you continue, go read 'A Jurassic Christmas' and 'Love and Thunder'. so this makes sense!

Dr. Emily Grant twisted the ring on the third finger of her right hand as she read through the email open in front of her for the fourth time.

Dr. Grant,

Three years ago, Jurassic World fell. However, most employees of the park did not close their contracts with InGen. This includes yourself. I have attached a copy of your contract to this email.

I'm sure you are also aware that the active volcano on Isla Nublar will shortly kill off the last living dinosaurs. This is why I have an offer for you.

Benjamin Lockwood, a former associate and friend of John Hammond, is organizing an operation that will go to the island and rescue the dinosaurs, then transport them to a different island that he has deemed, 'Sanctuary'. We have hopes to save 11 species, definitely more if we can.

With your invaluable knowledge of the island and its inhabitants, you would make a fine addition to this operation, as would your fiancé, Dr. Samuel Ruiz. It has also come to my attention that he did not terminate his contract either.

Should you decide to join us, I can help you both terminate your contracts with InGen, permanently. Mr. Lockwood would also be willing to fully fund any dig sites you work on for the next five years.

Thank you,

Elli Mills

Manager of the Benjamin Lockwood Foundation

Emily sighed, "Dad will never let me go."

Sam moved his hand from the back of her chair to her shoulder, "They're not giving us much of a choice, are they?"

"No, they're not. And honestly, I don't particularly want the dinosaurs to die. That and having them in a place free from human contact isn't a bad idea either."

"Didn't Hammond try that back in the '90s?"

Emily nodded, shutting her laptop. She opened her mouth to respond, then spotted the footage playing on her TV. The paleontologist hurried to unmute the TV, and Sam followed, both of them watching.

The TV was flipping through security camera footage from the fall of Jurassic World three years earlier. Tourists ran back and forth, screaming, Pteranodons swooping down toward them. Emily's hand subconsciously rose to the scars on the side of her neck as the news anchor began to speak, "Since the disaster that shocked the world in 2015, the Masrani Corporation has paid out more than 800 million in damages to settle class action lawsuits brought by survivors."

Emily frowned. She hadn't sued, because she had decided that she just couldn't be bothered to tangle with InGen anymore. Sam slipped his arms around her from behind, "Someday, they'll shut up about it."

Emily nodded, "Someday has turned into 25 years Sam."

He shrugged, "Then we'll just keep ignoring them."

They turned their attention back to the TV as the news anchor continued, "With an eruption expected any day now, the US Senate has convened a special committee to answer a grave moral question; Do dinosaurs deserve the same protections given to other endangered species, or should they be left to die."

Emily rolled her eyes as the camera switched to a court room, "They should ask the people that almost died there."

A very familiar voice issued from the TV, "I think, that we should allow our magnificent, glorious dinosaurs, to be taken out by the volcano."

"Ian," Emily murmured.

Sam chuckled, "Of course he's the one on TV."

Emily tuned out the TV, thinking. That Mills guy had her cornered. On one hand, she'd sworn never to go back to Isla Nublar. On the other, she didn't really want to dinosaurs to die. If she went, she could be done with this forever. Plus, dig site funding was a welcome bonus.

Emily slipped out of Sam's arm, and muted the TV, turning to face him, "I don't want them to go extinct Sam. I'm going back."

"Then I'm coming too."

"Sam-"

He cut her off, "What kind of fiancé would I be if I let you run off to Isla Nublar alone?"

Emily smiled, "Not a very good one."

"Besides," Sam stepped up to her, taking her hands, "Your father might just let you go if I'm coming with."

"Maybe," Emily murmured, and kissed him.

Sam let go of her hands, one of his wrapping around her waist and the other threading its fingers into her hair.

Emily pulled back, laughing, "Stop it, or I'll never get a chance to respond to their email."

"You do that, and I'll call your father."

"You sure you want to take on the wrath of Alan Grant at," Emily glanced at her watch, "9:00 in the morning?"

"If I can handle you, I can handle your father."

Emily peered out the window of the car and spotted the massive mansion immediately. It was beautiful, she supposed, but Emily and Sam were more concerned about what lay inside. They'd flown into a small local airport on a private jet, straight from Bozeman, and had been picked up there by a private driver.

They were pulling up to the Lockwood Estate, which was surrounded by heavily forested hills, typical of Northern California. The car stopped smoothly, and Emily stepped out of the backseat, Sam doing the same on the opposite side of the car. Sam walked around the car to join her, and they mounted the ornate front steps.

Sam leaned forward and rang the doorbell as Emily straightened her navy-blue cardigan. She'd pulled it on over her gray dress to help with the slightly chilly temperature. Billy liked to tease her that she looked like a teacher when she wore it.

An elderly woman a wearing a light blue shirt and pencil skirt answered the door, "Dr. Grant, Dr. Ruiz. Thank you for coming. Please step in."

Emily nodded, following Sam through the door, "The pleasure is ours."

"I will inform Mr. Mills that you've arrived. Is there anything I can get you in the meantime?" The woman had an English accent.

"I think we're good, thank you." Sam answered, hands in his coat pocket. He'd donned dress pants and a gray button down with little, blue brachiosaurs on it. Tim had given it to him as a Christmas present.

The woman shut the door behind them and took Sam's coat, vanishing deeper into the mansion. Emily's eyes danced over several sculptures and landed on a painting of a familiar face. She walked towards it, heels clicking on the checkered floor. It was-

"John Alfred Hammond. The father of Jurassic Park."

Emily turned on her heel to find a young man descending one of the ornate staircases, dressed in a neatly pressed suit. He smiled, pulling of a pair of glasses, "But of course you knew that."

Emily and Sam walked toward him, and Emily held out her hand, "I did. Dr. Emily Grant."

The man grabbed her hand and shook it, though not very firmly, "Eli Mills." He turned to Sam, "And you must be Dr. Ruiz then."

Sam shook his hand, "Correct."

Mills nodded, "Well, erupting volcano and all, we are on a tight schedule." He led them past the staircase.

Emily followed, Sam beside her, "Let's talk business then."

Mills led them down a hallway toward an open set of doors, "Let me give you some history. This is where it all began. Before the island, Sorna, Jurassic Park." They walked through the doors into a large room, with a balcony running around the top, several 'true to life' exhibits of dinosaurs and several skeletons on display as well, "Hammond and Lockwood built a custom lab in the subbasement and extracted the first DNA from amber right beneath our feet."

Emily turned from looking over the triceratops skull, exchanging a glance with Sam. She'd always assumed that they'd started on Sorna, or maybe even Nublar. Definitely not here.

Mills led Emily and Sam around the triceratops skull to a display that looked like it was some tropical island, "This, is the Sanctuary island that I mentioned in my email. With your help, we'll be able to transport the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar to here, where they'll be safe from the volcano."

Emily looked the island over, "And there will be no human contact after they are transported, correct?"

"Correct," Mills nodded, "and should you choose to accept, we'll fly to you to Costa Rica tonight, and then Isla Nublar tomorrow morning."

Sam was nodded beside her, "Em, it sounds kinda like a once in a lifetime chance. I mean, you said yourself that you don't want them to go extinct."

"So, I did." Emily chuckled, "Well then Mr. Mills. We accept."

Mills grinned, "I'll go get the contracts from my office. It's just the usual about going of your own free will, promising not to sue." He hurried off, vanishing up a spiral staircase in the corner of the room.

Emily sighed, "It's a good thing you talked to my dad before we left."

"Yeah," Sam nodded, "I'm honestly surprised he gave in so easily."

"I'm not. He told me after Isla Sorna that he'd forgotten how magnificent and beautiful they were. That's part of why I went to Jurassic World, and part of why I'm going now. He doesn't want them to die either."

A voice spoke up from behind them, "Not a common opinion among the survivors, is it?"

Emily turned around and spotted an elderly man in a wheelchair wheeling toward them. She murmured, "No, it isn't."

The man smiled, coming to a stop, "Benjamin Lockwood my dear."

"Dr. Emily Grant." She shook his hand firmly.

Sam shook it as well, "Dr. Samuel Ruiz."

"Paleontologist and Paleoveterinarian, correct?"

Emily nodded, "Yes, that's correct."

"And survivor of both parks in your case."

"Yes, that too." Emily's hand subconsciously covered the scar on her right arm, even though it was hidden by her cardigan sleeve.

"Thank you for agreeing to help my dear. If we can save them, they will be safe. Away from tourists and those who would do bad with them."

Emily murmured, "Just like Hammond's dream."

Lockwood chuckled, "Yes, just like his dream. Ah, here comes Eli with your contracts."

Mills approached, "Here are your contracts." He handed Emily and Sam a packet each, "If you'll sign them, I'll get you a flight booked." He handed them pens as well and vanished back up the staircase.

Lockwood excused himself, saying something about medicines, and let the woman from before wheel him away.

Emily flipped through her packet, reading even the fine print, till she came to the signature line. Sam had laid his on the Sanctuary display table, and clicked his pen, signing on the line. Emily laid hers down as well, staring at the line. Sam came up behind her, "Hey, it'll be different this time. For one, I'll actually be around to help."

Emily smirked, "Or get into trouble."

Sam chuckled and Emily clicked her pen. The survivor signed her name in one quick flourish. There was no going back now.

Well, let me know what you guys think. I've started writing the next chapter already, so hopefully I'll have this updated soon.
