Chapter 2

Percy sighed, "Well I'm not from around here."

"Clearly."

"No I mean not from this particular universe." She watched the blade in Maze's hand. "So what are you?"

"I'm the one asking questions!" Maze Snapped.

Percy knew this woman wasn't just a regular woman, she could sense it. She was uncertain if she should really reveal her identity. The last person she wanted to find out was Lucifer. She wasn't quite ready to tell him that, she wanted to observe him more.

Percy bit her lip and looked Maze in the eyes. That blade couldn't hurt her, she was a Goddess after all.

"My name is Persephone, pretty sure you've heard of me. Ya know, Queen of the Underworld. Goddess of vegetation."

Maze stopped spinning her blade. The demon didn't quite believe her, but at the same time she did. But what was it she wanted with Lucifer? But...it's Greek Mythology, it's not supposed to be real. Or is it? She did say she wasn't of this universe. Lucifer's mom was sent to another universe, so it's possible.

"So you're telling me Greek Mythology is real?"

"And Lucifer really exists, what's your point?"

"Why are you here?" Maze began shaking her leg, feeling a bit nervous. Which was odd, because Maze didn't GET nervous.

"I just want a conversation with Lucifer. That's it."

"Still doesn't answer the question. Why do you need to talk to Lucifer?"

Persephone sighed and looked at the floor. " Well, Hades vanished. I don't know where he is, The underworld needs a ruler."

"And you want to ask Lucifer for help. He has his own Hell to run, you know. Plus he has Decker."

"Yes, the detective. Are they? You know?"

"That's none of your business, go back to where you came from. We want nothing to do with it."

"We? Well I don't recall needing you for anything from you."

Maze stood up, blade ready to strike. She wasn't going to take any shit, even if this woman was a Goddess. She could take her. Percy stepped back slightly. She didn't want to fight, she wasn't a violent person, but obviously this Maze has a past with it.

"And what are you?"

"Demon, and I will tear you limb from limb if you don't leave Lucifer alone." She stood up and pushed past Percy.

Maze pacing Lucifer's penthouse, mumbling to herself. The elevator dinged and he stepped out.

"Oh Maze! What a pleasant surprise! I'm going to need you to leave in about 4 minutes. I have company coming."

"It's about that Percy girl. She's trouble. You need to stay away from her."

"Trouble, that's all the more reason for me to speak with her. I like trouble."

"I mean serious trouble."

"If you, a demon, think she's trouble, then I absoLUTELY need to speak with her."

"Alright, don't say I didn't warn you." Maze rolled her eyes and left. Lucifer could make his own decisions, usually bad ones, but he learns, most of the time.

Lucifer headed back down to the club where Percy was back sitting at the bar, she just couldn't stay away. Thankfully Maze wasn't there.

"Good evening, Percy. Welcome back." She looked around the room, noting the piano in the middle. Lucifer was at the bar pouring his third most expensive bottle of whiskey. He saved the first and second for an extra special occasion.

She took a sip but her mouth still felt dry. She was finally able to speak with him, and suddenly she didn't know what to say.

"Um...hi." She bit her lip. "I…"

"How about that tour?" Lucifer noticed she was struggling. He was more curious about her fascination rather than how good she looked, which he noted was pretty sexy. But he felt like maybe saying that at the current moment was inappropriate.

He thought to himself, "Whenever have I worried about whether or not something is appropriate." He accidently mumbled the last word out loud.

"What, appropriate?" Percy looked up at him with an arched eyebrow.

"Um, shit I can't lie. I wanted to point out how attractive you are, but, it's not appropriate right now."

Her cheeks turned crimson, she hasn't blushed like that since she first met thought, "Get it together, Percy. You are a fucking GODDESS. Act like one." She stood up, and straightened her back.

"I'm flattered, thank you. But yes, maybe a little inappropriate as we just met. How about that tour?" She gave a flicker of a smile. He was devilishly handsome, which makes sense. His eyes were so dark she could see herself reflected in them. The tour around the club was pretty basic, too loud music, bodies rubbing against each other. Not really her thing. He held out his arm, and she linked her arm through it.

"How about we head upstairs." He said in a flirty voice.

"I don't know what you think my intentions are, but it's not sleeping with you."

"He just gave a tight smile. Since he can't lie he just kept his mouth shut. Maybe he was a little disappointed but he still wanted to know what her real intentions were.

They made it up to the penthouse and she noticed another piano.

"I assume you play."

"Why, yes I do." Finally, an opportunity to show off. He sat down and began slowly fingering the keys. The music was beautiful. He played an entire song.

"I've got many talents."

"I see that."

"So what is it you needed with me?" The dryness came back so she asked for another drink. He poured her another glass of whiskey. She nodded to thank him. She suddenly didn't want to tell him, she started to feel like the idea was silly. No one could replace Hades, not in the Underworld and not in her heart. She wished she knew where he'd gone. Or if he was even still alive. But she knew she couldn't do it on her own.

"Well, I have my own personal version of Hell and I thought, maybe, you could help me with that."

"Oh definitely, I can give you Linda's number." She knew that was Lucifer's therapist. She'd learned a lot about him before coming to this universe.

"I don't need a shrink, thank you. I really just need a friend."

"And you chose me?"
