I never created DC canon.
Courtney frowned and walked into a kitchen. She refused to glance at the test paper she held. She wadded up the paper with the low grade on it. After Courtney tossed it in the garbage, she remembered everything. Recent battles as the Star-Spangled Kid. Her smile while she kicked crooks down or attacked with stars from the Cosmic Converter Belt. The Yankee Poodle Show.
Courtney recalled her mother frowning recently. Then again, she never exactly mentioned her other activities. She viewed the latter as a ticking time bomb. Punishments any minute.
There were things that Courtney never always remembered. Refused to remember. Her parents splitting up. Pat Dugan marrying her parent and moving the family to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Keeping her superhero identity a secret. Which chapter to study.
''Mom won't locate my test paper. I should be fine,'' Courtney muttered. She smiled and walked to the refrigerator for a snack.
She opened the door. Courtney heard footsteps and began to shut it. Blue eyes flew open after they were on her mother's frown.
The paper was no longer wadded up.
Courtney shrugged.
''I forgot to study the correct history chapter?''
''Two days in your bedroom,'' Barbara said.
Courtney slouched and went upstairs slowly. ''At least I have plenty of time to imagine other ways of defeating enemies.''
