I don't own the outsiders, S.E. Hinton does, and I hope you enjoy!

Ponyboy stared at his hand with complete and utter shock. A glance to his left showed Johnny Cade in the same state, with the exception of him staring at the pen in his hand.

A whistle and a slow clap startled both of them of their moment of self-pity, though, as they spun around and stared wide-eyed at Two-Bit, who was whistling, and Dally, who was clapping.

"Dally!? But I-You? What are you doing here?" It took Johnny a moment to get his bearings together as he stuttered for a response to seeing Dally of all people in school. Willingly, by the looks of it, too!

"Oh, you know, wanted to check in on ya, kid. Imagine my surprise when I ran into Two-Bit, holding a sign-up sheet for a talent show!" Dally answered casually, leaning back on a pillar in the school's cafeteria. Pony and Johnny looked at each other with matching looks of disbelief.

"Hey! You said you wouldn't tell them that!" Two-Bit yelled, affronted by the betrayal.

Dally simply looked over at him with an unimpressed look and calmly said, "Calm down, don't get yer panties in a twist, yer gonna cause a scene." Sure enough, some of the nearby kids were starting to look at them, "And besides, I wouldn't have told them if they hadn't just signed up too."

Ponyboy glared at Dally, knowing he did that on purpose, drawing the attention back to him, and Johnny. "What about it?" He asked with a slight bite to his words.

"Woah! Easy there, hold yer horses!" That comment only made the glare worse, "I was thinking, maybe Ol' Two-Bit and I could join ya. So, what were ya thinking? Ventriloquism? Magic Show? -"

Now was when Johnny decided to butt in, "Why would you want to join us?" Distrust and suspicion seeping into his, assumed, black eyes-they were actually just a very, very deep blue- and his voice.

"Think of the fun we could have! And it could be a bonding experience." Two-Bit answered, the last part of the statement a bit too sing-song like for Pony's taste.

"Really? And too much time with you, for what you call a "bonding experience" might get me sent to an asylum." Ponyboy stated matter-of-factly, putting up air quotes (don't ask me how the 2- matter-of-factly and air quotes- work together, savvy?), Johnny chuckling and Dally smirking.

Two-Bit dramatically dropped to the floor, hand placed over his heart, "Oh! How you wound me so!" Then stopped, "What's an asylum?" Confusion covering his face. Even Dally openly chuckled at that-he didn't laugh, Dallas Winston never laughs, unless to mock socs, of course- because it was such a Two-Bit thing to do.

The moment is coming soon, in maybe a chapter or two, so bare with me. Again this is a spur of the moment kind of thing, and it is 12:46 am.
