Paige nervously sat in the waiting room at her doctor's office. It had been fourteen years since she had been this nervous in the doctor's office. Though, she thought that if she was in this position again, she'd at least have the father present during the appointments. Drew wasn't the best father to Ralph, but she had never been alone during the pregnancy.
"Paige Dineen." The nurse called for her.
Thankfully she knew what to expect for this appointment, and her pregnancy with Ralph made her a pro at peeing in a cup. As soon as she had sat down in the room she was assigned she was bombarded with questions.
"Last menstrual period?"
"Uhm March Nineteenth, I believe."
"What pregnancy number is this for you?"
"Second."
"Smoker?"
"No."
"Marijuna usage?"
"No."
"Alcohol consumption?"
"Not since I found out."
She had entered all the data into the computer and looked at Paige for the final question.
"Is the father going to be involved?"
It seemed like a strange question to Paige, not like whether Walter being involved was anybody's business but hers. The only business they had was the health of her unborn baby.
"Don't know yet." She answered honestly.
The nurse nodded and said. "The doctor should be in shortly."
Which left Paige alone in the room with her thoughts, and that was the most dangerous place to be. Normally with work or dealing with Ralph she had so many distractions that her mind was focused on the problems that lay ahead, not about her personal life.
She toyed with the phone in her hands. She had thought about texting Walter about a hundred times since she had found out. But this wasn't something that could be said in a text, especially with all the history between them. She also wasn't sure that she really even wanted to see or even talk to Walter, her heart was still hurting after all.
A knock on the door drew Paige out of her thoughts.
"Paige Dineen?" The voice asked.
"Yes." She answered.
"Hi. I'm Dr. Smith." The doctor greeted as she came in. "Well so it looks like your estimated due date is December Twenty-fourth, twenty-eighteen."
She nodded, her late night Google searching had told her the same thing.
"Are there any other questions you have for me?" Dr. Smith asked.
She shook her head. The doctor handed her a piece of paper.
"I took the liberty of setting you up for an ultrasound about two weeks from now. Will that day and time work for you?"
Paige looked at the paper May 14th at 8:45am.
"Yes, this should work."
"After that appointment, you should be able to set up your next OB/GYN at that office." Dr. Smith told her. Just as she was about to leave she looked back at Paige and said, "You're also allowed to bring one more person to the Ultrasound with you."
Walter silently cursed himself for not fixing the kitchen sink in the loft last night as soon as he broke it. There was water all over the floor, and having a massive hangover from his late night drinking wasn't helping with his limited tools skill on trying to fix the sink.
"Walter!" Cabe called from down the stairs.
He chose not to answer, which caused Cabe to then venture up to the loft. Walter thought he must look like a mess to Cabe as he had entered in eyesight.
"What in the world happened up here?" He asked as he took in his surroundings.
"I uh-broke the sink." He mumbled.
Cabe went over to Walter and took the tools from his hands. It only took Cabe twenty seconds to fix it, whilst it had taken Walter all morning attempting to fix it. Cabe looked at Walter, with concern, as he normally does these days since Scorpion had broken up, but he had never really said anything to Walter about it.
Actually he doesn't even attempt to talk to Walter about emotions, the only one who could really get through to him about those things was Paige, and she was no longer here.
"We uh- have a case, they're downstairs." Cabe told him.
"I'll be right there."
Once Cabe left, Walter turned to the cupboard behind him, and grabbed the bottle of Tylenol, which has been his best friend lately, as he swallowed the two pills.
"Glad you could join us, Mr. O'Brien." A man wearing a dark gray suit said as Walter made his way down the loft's stairs.
"Team," Cabe announced, even though it was just Florence and Walter there. "This is Henry Jones, owner of The Fizzy Chemicals Company."
Henry then elaborated on what they needed Scorpion to do, an easy case. That's of course what they have been only getting recently. The pay was a lot less than what they were used to, now that they have to compete with the Centipede Partners, but with fewer workers then what he's used to pay, he's still bringing in about roughly the same.
Just as he was starting to pack up his things for the three hour trip that was awaiting for him, he had received a message on his phone.
Can you meet me at Kovelsky's at 4pm today?
