2. Crystelle's Dilemma.

Crystelle One thinks quickly. Should she alert the Gallifreyan authorities, admit her mistake and work out with them what they might do at the pace of a tortoise? No! They will be far too slow.
But she only has permission to place the one portal here for one journey. She can't place another portal now.

Quickly she steps to a nearby building and uses her Tardis summoner. She wants to keep Trelim in sight. She expects it to materialise as a door in the wall of the building. Maybe she can enclose him with her Tardis and place him somewhere else?

Her Tardis can't materialise. Crystelle One thinks quickly. Her negotiations hadn't included her summoning her Tardis. The Gallifreyan automatic intrusion system must be busy opposing this and they must have imposed a limitation area near her portal, maybe for observational reasons.

She sighs. There seems nothing else she can do. She must acknowledge her mistake to the authorities. She will be in so much trouble for permitting the Master to by-pass restrictions and enter Gallifrey. Will she ever be trusted again? It had taken her ages to negotiate for Trelim to return to Gallifrey, his having left unconventionally.

Will her reputation be in ruins? She visualises her future glumly, yet she must act quickly.
Crystelle One steps back through the portal as arranged...

She is in her house on Tinsel as expected. She powers down the portal and rushes downstairs.
"Chloe?" she calls out. After she has received no answer for a few seconds, she retrieves her messaging device and messages Chloe.

Chloe arrives in the lounge a moment later. "Hi Mum."
Crystelle One hears this coming from the lounge. She rushes into the lounge to see the original Crystelle hugging Chloe.
Crystelle One joins in the hug. "I need a hug right now," she says.
"What happened?" the original Crystelle asks, seeing Crystelle One looking stressed. She is concerned and extends the hug.

"Hi Chloe, I messaged you, could you help me?" Crystelle One asks, now almost in tears. "I've made the most terrible mistake. I think I've taken the Master to Gallifrey by mistake!"

The other two stare at her in horrified disbelief. "How did you manage that?"

Clearly this will take a while to explain, but she must give them a brief explanation at least.
"I took Trelim there, but his demeanour was so different from when I last saw Trelim - he was a different person! And his eyes lit up when he arrived on Gallifrey. There was no doubt! And I couldn't summon my Tardis, so I could do nothing to fix this."

Chloe steps up to Crystelle One. "How if ... we use my Wristwatch Tardis and arrive on Gallifrey behind the Master, you put your hand on his shoulder, I think of somewhere else and activate my Wristwatch Tardis to take us all there? … Then you let go of him while I think of home, and we leave him there?"

It's a plan made up in an instant with no thought about any risks. That's life!

Chloe had made her Wristwatch Tardis (ref. 28) from Gallifreyan instructions from the Gallifreyan Library (ref. 9).

"Yes!" Crystelle One clutches at the straw. "Your Wristwatch Tardis won't be blocked by Gallifreyan defences."
Chloe holds Crystelle One's hand while she thinks of Trelim's hovel on Gallifrey and activates her Wristwatch Tardis...

Crystelle One was quite right on this count - there is no defence on Gallifrey against Chloe's Wristwatch Tardis!

They approach Trelim from behind as he approaches the hovel. Crystelle One places her hand on Trelim's shoulder and Chloe thinks of the Judoon Master Palace.

Instantly the Master twirls around to grasp Crystelle's arm just as Chloe activates her Wristwatch Tardis to take them away from Gallifrey to the Judoon Master Palace...

They arrive in the foyer of the Judoon facility.
What has the Master seen? Has he noticed the proximity of Chloe's hand to her wristwatch? Would it mean anything to him if he did?

In any case, the Master isn't going to let go of Crystelle One's arm. She struggles to get free, and Chloe tries to help her. Then she screams to alert any nearby Judoon guards of their plight.

Two Judoon guards appear and march up to them, but they arrest Crystelle One! .

Crystelle's objections are instantly overruled. "The prisoner accompanies us."

"What about him?" Chloe indicates Trelim.
The second Judoon guard obligingly scans Trelim. "Trelim. You are free to go." .
"What about me?" Chloe asks, suddenly recognising that she will be left alone with Trelim, who might be the Master. She might be in any amount of danger!
The Judoon guard scans her. "Person unknown. You are free to go." .

Crystelle One has little time to do anything as she is rapidly bundled away. "Stop him!" she yells.
The Judoon take her away leaving Chloe and Trelim alone in the foyer.

Trelim breaks out into a booming laugh. Freedom and victory appear to be his!

Another disaster! Why was Crystelle One arrested?

Chloe is left alone with Trelim in the foyer. She knows that Crystelle One has told her that she thinks Trelim is the Master.
But why did they arrest Crystelle One? She thinks. Couldn't they see the grip Trelim had on her arm? Surely might they have arrested him for assault?

Chloe's immediate concern is being with the Master. She has been told of his many powers and the need to stay well away from him.

The Master doesn't know Chloe at all and perceives no argument with her, but her presence with Crystelle makes him want to question her.
"What were you doing with Crystelle?" the Master asks from Trelim's body, advancing towards Chloe.
Chloe is alarmed and rapidly moves away from the advancing Master while avoiding placing herself between him and any wall that's too close. She wants to be able to run and avoid being trapped! Fortunately, in the Judoon foyer there's plenty of space. She avoids answering the Master.

Judoon come and go in the foyer, but Chloe knows they will ignore any plea she makes, they'll just tell her she's free to go! She sees a door that looks promising.
"Please excuse me, I need the bathroom," she says quickly and sprints to the likely looking door. Opening it, she discovers a group of Judoon apparently deep in discussion. Closing it more quietly behind her, she sees a row of doors and chooses the nearest to open and hide behind. Oddly, it has a lock operated from the inside. It's a bathroom! She groans.
She finds that she can peek out through the doorway and overhear the Judoon discussion. Some sort of interpreter is present, relaying the meaning to some non-Judoon being who is present, obscured by many Judoon.

"Why have the Gallifreyan Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Crystelle?" the non-Judoon being asks in a shrill voice. Translation to and from Judoon takes ages, but the reply is eventually heard.
"Misuse of permit, they called it. Something about their equipment showing an additional lifeform present who hadn't been authorised."
Chloe thinks for a moment. That would likely be herself. She was the cause of her mother's arrest! She's horrified. But surely that would all be sorted out soon? .

"And attempting to summon a Tardis in a limitation area when it hadn't been authorised."
Oh dear, Chloe thinks, that may be trickier to explain.

The Gallifreyan Authorities must be extremely twitchy just now!
Or is it just bureaucracy and paperwork? Or did they just set their automated equipment to be too sensitive?
