Chapter 3
Hogwarts
James Potter didn't believe what he saw. He always thought his mother was the gentlest woman he had ever met in his life. He didn't think there would come a day when he wouldn't know what reaction to expect from her.
On his way to the Gryffindor Common Room, he reflected on his behavior over the years. He has never been forced to view his behavior from the perspective of others. However, when it was said that the boy he harassed would rather die than be with him, he realized that something had gone wrong.
He stood in front of the Fat Lady's portrait, sighed and entered, getting ready to testify from the meeting with the Headmaster.

Minerva McGonagall stared blankly at the place where the parents of one of her gryphons were standing. She hasn't realized what just happened yet. She looked at Albus. She felt like he was in a similar condition to hers.
- What will do doing now? - she whispered, hoping he heard her after all.
- I didn't expect such reaction from James's parents. I assumed they would be pleased with his protection. - he said without emotion.
One thought flashed through the head of the Transfiguration professor. Not everything is predictable.

As James expected, his friends were waiting for him. He saw worry on the face of all Marauders. Only Lily seemed to exude a mixture of contentment and worry. The Gryffindor sat down on the armchair near the fireplace. He thought of what the Slytherin Common Room might have been like.
- James, how did it go? - Sirius was really interested in how the situation unfolded.
- Not going to Hogsmeade, playing Quidditch on the team… And that's just the beginning. And it's not just me. You, too.
Sirius stopped immediately. - How's that for me too? After all, your parents have no power over me.
- That's where you're wrong. Why do you think your parents haven't got you out of my house yet? Just because our mothers spent seven years in the same room in the Slytherin dormitory.
Remus who was watching the situation decided to change the subject. - Did you learn anything about Severus Snape?
James sat back in the chair. He slid down and he didn't seem so sure of himself anymore. - Nothing. I'm starting to worry that the separation of souls will affect me. I am a hypocrite. Before that, I wasn't really worried about hurting him.
Lily thought for the first time that this boy had a heart. She hoped that James will find a girl you accept him.

Durmstrang
Another defeated. Dimitr couldn't believe it. This tiny, black-haired wizard was a devil in human skin. His every move during the duel looked like he was dancing. Even the blood wasn't a problem for him.
- Merlin. Where the hell did he come from? - his friend Ivan whispered. - This is only the first day of the tournament and he has already secured a place for the next year's school team.
The boy, once ridiculed for his albinism, replied without hesitation. - If it goes on like this, Severus Snape will stand up against his old school in the Triwizard Tournament. I wouldn't even be offended by that. Imagine the faces of the Hogwarts students.
- I think I can agree with you. - they heard the voice of their Transfiguration teacher. Łukasz Łagoda was a terror among the students of Durmstang, so the boys automatically straightened up - During Severus' rejestration, I heard that he was at the stage of creating his own spells for a long time. I don't know how Albus Dumbledore let him go.
- Better for us, professor. I'm just afraid of what he may become when he reaches his full potential. He is still so young and he is already one of the stronger wizards what I ever meet.
The professor sighed. - It seems to me that this inconspicuous boy has a chance to become the strongest wizard in modern history. In particular, he will not be alone on this difficult road. See who's standing with him. Helen Granger is strong. Almost as strong as he is. I also have no doubts that he will find friends here.

Severus felt his body begin to shake. The first task was to fight for the moment when you felt your magic was dissappered. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that Helen was already on place for the spectators. She was still weak from the ritual, so he was relieved that she was okay.
Suddenly he felt cold. He looked at his arm and there he saw a solid amount of blood dripping down his skin. He didn't even feel the pain. With one efficient movement of his hand, he threw his attacker into the air. He didn't watch as the body of a large redhead hit the oak growing nearby with all its force. He ignored the sound of bones breaking. He just kept walking. Forward. To victory. For victory.
Here they didn't have one nurse for the entire school. Here, he might not have worried about hurting someone permanently. They gave them the green light to fight in full. They just had to be careful not to kill anyone.
Severus stopped in the middle of the field. He tried to focus on the sound of the wind. Focus on how the blood flows through his veins. He felt himself and let the accumulated magic go outside him.
He heard an explosion and then felt relief. Another of his spells worked.

Łukasz Łagoda didn't believe what he saw. He knew veelas were strong when their partner was in danger. It was a matter of adrenaline. However, what this, until recently, sickly Englishman presented, exceeded his wildest expectations. He walked without hesitation. Only from time to time he glanced at the place where Miss Granger was sitting.
- Did you see it? - Ivan asked in a trembling voice. - How did he do it? Wandless magic at this age? He didn't even look at him. And even if… It must have been in just a few seconds. Since when is he on school grounds? Since when is he away from those troglodytes? Since when did he not have to be afraid of going back to Hogwarts?
- From the end of the school year. He did really big ...
The Transfiguration professor couldn't finish. Severus Snape's magic exploded, sweeping everyone but him off the battlefield. He watched the boy stand straight. At first, he looks down at the ground, he places his hands on his face, moves them through his hair, and finally, with a satisfied smile, he looks up at the sky.
It was a while before anyone said anything. The silence was really poignant.
- I wonder if it was an accident or a spell. - he gentle muttered under his breath.
- I'm curious about it too. - The headmaster surprised everyone sitting at this box. - I am curious if Albus Dumbledore is aware of who he wanted to give to the Dark Lord. Left to himself among kids from families loyal to him, he would sooner or later join him. -the wizard looked thoughtful. - Look at him. Look how he is smiling.
Two teachers watched as the bloody boy approached his future wife. They were proud taht he reborn on their eyes.
- What do you think his former pursuers will react to how this boy changed?
- I don't know. We'll see next year. We will go there in September and we will put a piece of paper with his name in the Golbet of Fire. He will only appear after the draw. Only recently did the ritual take place. He's quite unstable, so just to be sure, let's give him that extra month of separation. After all, we don't want to be responsible for the destruction of the monument of Magic Britain.

This chapter is almost completely different from what I wanted to write in the first place, but I like what I got out. If you have a different opinion on this topic, please do not hesitate to write to me. I can always change this chapter. Severus turned out to be quite strong for me, but this is how I imagine that his powers could develop if he were free from the stress of the situation at school and his recruitment to the Dark Lord. He could focus on his own development. Regards Katie-Krum
