It was early morning at Camp Lakebottom and everyone was still asleep until they heard screeching sounds that scared them.
Sawyer went to check on the five campers who were not only dressed but also covering their ears as the noise was getting louder and louder while hurting them.
"What is that?!" McGee asked loudly, no one knew where the sounds were coming from. "I don't know but it's like nails on a blackboard!" Gretchen shouted back to him.
"Someone make it stop!" Molly shouted in pain, while normally a happy go-lucky girl, even Molly couldn't turn this into something positive with her ears hurting too much.
When the screeching got even louder, Scratch came outside of the cabin. "I'VE HAD ENOUGH!" Scratch shouted in annoyance, he zoomed over to Sunny Smiles quickly.
"Um...why'd Scratch go over there?" Squirt asked Libby, she shrugged in reply. "Maybe that's where the sound is coming from." Libby suggested, she had been right.
The screeching sounds came to a stop before screaming started. "That's better." Scratch said with a smile, he went over to the zombie and five humans who were confused.
"It was those two girls, Suzi and Andrea making all that racket." Scratch told them, Molly and McGee shuddered at their names. "What were they doing?" Sawyer asked him.
Scratch pulled out a flyer that he'd seen while scaring the two girls. "They were supposedly 'singing' since they entered some contest at their camp." Scratch answered casually.
The five kids looked at the flyer and saw that it was for a battle of the bands competition. "I think we should enter and beat those two." McGee told his friends with a smirk on his face.
"But we're not a band." Squirt pointed out, Molly was all for it and surprisingly so was Libby. "This is a bad idea." Gretchen deadpanned, but she did want to beat Suzi at a competition.
"Have fun campers but don't forget to eat breakfast." Sawyer told them, Scratch followed the kids into the mess hall to have Rosebud's oatmeal which jumped onto them like it had before.
So after having to catch their food in order to eat, the five kids found some normal instruments to use. "So who's going to do what?" Molly asked while tuning up a purple electric guitar.
Once everyone chose their instruments to play, it was decided that Molly would sing, Libby and Gretchen were back up vocals while playing keyboard and bass, McGee was on the drums.
While Squirt would play on a yellow electric guitar. "Now what should we play?" Squirt asked the others, Molly suggested a song by the Hex Girls since she, Libby and Gretchen loved them.
"I can't believe you bottom dwellers actually entered our competition." Andrea said with sneer, she and Suzi were not happy. "You need to drop out!" Suzi told McGee as she growled at him.
"No way! We checked the rules and it said nothing against other camps competing." Gretchen replied in annoyance, she got in front of McGee and glared at her rival as Molly and Libby joined her.
"It's not like it matters. We're going to win anyway." Andrea said as she pulled Suzi back, Scratch was for some reason double checking the rule book then promptly threw it at the two mean girls.
The book hit both sunny smilers making them scream and run away. "Thanks for that." Molly said to her ghost friend, he cackled as Andrea and Suzi ran back to their camp in fear of the ghost.
"Alright, time for practice." Libby said with a smile, the five practiced the song that they were going to play with breaks in the middle before night finally fell over both the camps meaning it was time.
The campers from Lakebottom went to Sunny Smiles for the competition where they had to sign in while Scratch, Sawyer and Rosebud got front row seats to watch their campers win the contest for them.
Armand was giving the five kids a pep talk so with them distracted, Andrea and Suzi tried to sabotage them. "I don't think so!" Scratch wailed at them, the girls screamed so loudly that they lost their voices.
"...I guess we're up first?" Molly told her friends, their band was called onto the stage to take over Andrea and Suzi's set. "Let's give'em what they want!" McGee said with a smile, the five began to play their song.
[Play It's a mystery by the Hex Girls]
[McGee Speaking]
Zionks! Like what's with Velma, Scoob?
[Squirt Speaking]
I don't know.
[McGee Speaking]
She's got a dreamy look on her face,
Like I think she really digs that Ben Ravencroft guy.
[Squirt Speaking]
Yeah.
[Molly, Libby and Gretchen Singing]
Ooh, He's such a mystery,
That's haunts each lonely night.
I'm scared, I might wake up (Scared I might wake up)
Cause if I should wake up (If I should wake up)
Then I'll be alone in the morning light
It's a mystery, what he does to me.
Can I make him see how I feel?
It's a mystery, could he care for me?
Will my fantasy ever be real or
Will he stay a mystery?
(Music)
Ooh, he's such a mystery,
Why can't I let him know
Just how much I love him (How much I love him)
How much I think of him (How I think of him)
But I'm scared to tell him so...
It's a mystery, what he does to me.
Can I make him see how I feel?
It's a mystery, could he care for me?
It's a mystery, could he care for me?
Will my fantasy every be real
Or will he stay a mystery?
Ah~
It's a mystery, what he does to me.
Can I make him see how I feel?
It's a mystery, could he care for me?
Will my fantasy ever be real
Or will he stay a mystery?
Ah~
[McGee Speaking]
Velma, like wake up Velma, Velma!
[Molly Speaking]
Jinkies!
At the end of the song, everyone in camp Sunny Smiles (minus Buttsquat, Andrea and Suzi) cheered for the bottom dwellers as they took a bow then headed off stage so the other performers could play their songs.
"That was amazing campers!" Sawyer said with a smile, the five kids smiled brightly and/or bashfully. "It's true! You five were awesome!" Rosebud told them. "It was spectacular!" Armand added as hugged the kids.
"Thanks. What did you think Scratch?" Molly asked the ghost, Scratch couldn't find the right words as he had been blown away by Molly's singing. "I didn't know you could sing." Scratch admitted after getting his voice.
"I don't sing often and when I do it's usually when I'm with Libby so that's why you haven't heard me before." Molly replied with a sheepish smile, Libby nodded since Scratch hadn't known that both of them could sing.
After that talk, the bottom dwellers went to watch the other performers all while Scratch felt that the song the five humans next to him played, hit close to home for him and Molly since they had grown closer a little.
Despite Scratch not wanting to care about Molly since he didn't care much for humans, he'd begrudgingly begun to care for Molly, her family and now her friends but knew that he had to be careful around them all.
If the ghost council ever found out that Scratch wasn't causing Molly or anyone else misery, then he'd be sent to where all failed ghosts go which meant that he'd never see Brighton or the McGee family ever again.
This was one of the main reasons, why Molly and Libby had allowed Scratch to haunt the campers at Sunny Smiles in order to do his scare reports while also causing them misery so the council wouldn't find out.
But thankfully, with all the weird things that happen at Camp Lakebottom everyday and night, no one from the ghost council knows that Scratch isn't haunting the camp since it's not a typical camp for humans at all.
"It's now time to announce the winner!" Buttsquat shouted, Scratch focused on the performers. "The winner is...the bottom dwellers?!" Buttsquat said in shock, Andrea and Suzi fainted while the five got the trophy.
Sawyer, Rosebud, Armand and Scratch cheered the loudest for their campers since they were proud of them for winning the competition while Gretchen gloated that she had finally beaten Suzi at something better.
Since Suzi had always won the pageants that they competed in, Gretchen was happy that she and her friends won since this was something that Suzi could never have, friends that stood by your side every single time.
"Time to head back campers." Sawyer told the kids, they didn't argue with the zombie and just went back to their camp to celebrate with snacks that Rosebud had made in advanced in case the campers won or lost.
Scratch had time to enjoy the celebration with everyone else since he had today off from scaring anyone (not counting what happened this morning) so it was a very special night for the campers and their councilors.
However in the ghost world, the meteor that measured how much misery or cheerfulness went up and it caught the ghost council's attention so they knew that they needed to keep an eye on Scratch just in case.
New chapter done! I was inspired by the new episode for The Ghost and Molly McGee to do this for my new chapter.
I don't own the song or the characters mentioned in this chapter, please review and no flames!
