Chapter 18
The Disabled Wizards Association, London - April 3
Katie Bennet was frustrated. She saw how much work her son puts into learning the simplest of spells. She hoped one day he would be proficient with wandless magic. If he succeeded, there would be no obstacles for him to go to the Magic School. To one that would accept him despite his limitations.
The boy looked at his mother with tears in his eyes.
- Honey, what happened? - she asked, wiping the bed from Regan's cheek. Her little Reg.
- I did it, I did it, mom. - The boy whispered cuddling against her neck.
Katie gasped. She looked anxiously at the caretaker standing next to her. - Mrs. Smith ... Is that true?
- Yes. - she saw that the woman was touched. - He finally succeeded. His core is unlocked. Learning should be easier for him from now on. Today he managed to use the wingardium leviosa spell and the accio spell. Without much effort. It's really impressive.
Relief flooded Katie Bennet's heart. Larger than she expected. Seeing the tears in Reg's eyes, she thought something had happened. Fortunately, they were tears of happiness and not tears of sorrow.
- Mom ... will Jamie be happy too?
The witch remembered the wayward young wizard who had turned up at the resort during the holiday break. At first he looked and acted like a fish out in the water. However, later, with the passage of time, he became more and more close to other participants of therapeutic classes. He was crazy but also obligatory. This surprised her because she had heard the reputation he deserved from their center sponsor, Augustus Prince.
It was funny that despite six years in class at a center sponsored by this man, she hadn't met him until recently. Katie didn't allow herself to think further about Lord Prince. She smiled and, looking at her child, said - Yes, honey. I'm sure Mr. Potter would be delighted to find out about your progress. We can write to him. If you want, of course.
Regan said nothing. The smile on his face was enough for her answer.

James Potter opened the letter carefully. He didn't know the seal on the closed envelope. He hoped it was a response from Severus Snape. However, when he read the words written on the parchment, he didn't feel disappointed. On the contrary. He felt happy. He cried with emotion.
Sirius got scared when he saw tears on James' cheeks. - Something happened? - he asked with concern in his voice.
- Do you remember when I told you about the Association? - when he saw Black nodding his head, he continued talking - The boy who is there is making more and more progress in wandless magic. He mastered two spells in one lesson. Previously, he needed several weeks of hard work for one spell ...
- Why wandless magic? Wouldn't it be easier for him to learn with a wand?
- Didn't I tell you that? Reg, little Regan has no hands. He lost both. More precisely, both were cut below the elbow.
After a brief silence while Sirius stared speechlessly at James, he finally spoke the question. - Do you know how it happened?
- Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what happened. I know that someone close to them did it. This was to prevent the learning of magic. - Sirius growled. He didn't believe what he heard. - At such moments I begin to understand those who are for the purity of blood. But Muggle-borns aren't the problem. It's their family. Not everyone is lucky enough to have parents like Lily's. Some people go to Hell.

Lucius Malfoy was going through the notes for the next exams. He had learned the best throughout his tenure at Hogwarts. However, he was still nervous about his final exams. Their results depended on whether he would be able to take advantage of the internship offer.
- It won't work. - he said to himself.
After a while he saw how the curtains from his bed were opening and his future wife's younger cousin appeared in front of his eyes. - Are you hiding from everyone here? - Regulus smiled. - If I could do as much as you do, I wouldn't have to repeat the exam material now. I would be calm about my results.
- It's about the damn internship. If I could get under the care of the Potions professor in Durmstrang, I could arrange to come here next year. An additional year at Hogwarts. - Lucius smiled at Reg.
- Why do you need it? - the dark-haired wizard's eyes widened as he realized his intentions - Severus! You want to see Severus.
- I really don't know where he is. If I got this internship, I would see him no matter which school he attends now.
- Learn it well. Tell us at dinner what you need help with.
After a while, Lucius was alone again. He missed talking to Sev. Sometimes even more than talking to Narcissa.

Wool's Orphanage - A few years earlier
Katie Bennet was afraid to enter this building. She heard a lot bad about Mrs. Cole. Therefore, she wasn't sure what she would find after she crossed that door. However, given the reports she found in the archives about the orphanage, she couldn't ignore the information about the magic revealed here.
Muffling her doubts, she knocked. She didn't have to wait long. An elderly woman wearing a gray apron opened the door. - Good morning. Who is speaking?
Against protocol, she pulled out an unregistered wand and cast a spell that she used in such situations - Imperio ... - She waited until the woman's eyes went blank and then said - Please take me to the child around whom inexplicable things are happening.
She was following this woman. She knew it was Mrs. Cole. She was surprised when instead of one of the rooms they went down to the basement. What she saw terrified her. She didn't want translations. It was impossible to explain that the child was chained to the wall by a leash. She quickly looked through the memories of the woman.
- So the only reason you cut this child hands was that he could practice witchcraft like your former pupil, Tom Riddle?
When she saw the silent agreement in her eyes, she extended her hand towards mrs Cole. Fibers of her magic flowed from her fingers. She didn't have time to play. She gave her a quick but painful death. Without any remorse.
After that day, no one saw Mrs. Cole again. The police never found her body, and the nameless child became in every way the son of Katie Bennet.

Hogwarts - April 3
Lily Evans looked through almost all of the spell books available in the library. Also those available in the prohibited books section. She thought she would be able to find something that would make James Potter pay attention to her. She knew she could use amortentia, but it wasn't artificial feeling she meant. Rather, it is an opportunity, thanks to which she will be able to creep back into his favors. To be honest with herself, she would have to admit that his advances at first were annoying to her, but now ... When he became indifferent to her ... She started to miss it. She felt as if she had gone sidetrack.
- Are you going to Transfiguration or not? - she heard the Dorcan's voice. - Professor McGonnagal said that today we will learn tailoring modifications.
The red-haired witch sometimes thought that many of the things taught at Hogwarts would not be of use to them in their lives. - Yes, I am going!

Ice Tower - April 3
He smiled. He finally secured this place. He was the only one who lived here so he had to prepare in case he couldn't come back anymore. It was difficult for him to think about it, but over the years of his life he realized that it wasn't worth assuming anything in advance. Before he goes, he will only have to light the flame at the top of the Lantern. It was going to help him get home with Severus Snape. And perhaps his partner as well.
Unfortunately, the wizard didn't know that by lighting the Lanterns, he showed the way home to someone else. Someone who breaks down the wall that separates him from freedom so he can go home.

Nurmengrad - April 3
There was an elderly wizard in the cell. Due to the lack of light, he had long since lost the sense of day and night. Therefore, as soon as a flame in the Lantern ignites in the ruins of the Ice Fortress, he woke up violently. And instead of the heterochromia so characteristic of him, there was a blue flame in his eyes.
