The bottom dwellers were having a normal day of hanging out after facing a giant spider mother the previous day.
With the fact that giant spiders exist near the camp, the five humans decided to play games around the beach since they needed a break from exploring their surroundings.
Armand and Sawyer were watching the kids play volleyball with Scratch on Molly and Libby's team since they each needed three players on both sides of the net to play fairly.
While the campers were busy, no one saw another ghost hiding in the bushes watching Scratch and Molly, until. "Spike!" Gretchen shouted as she spiked the ball hard enough to fly.
"OOF!" The other ghost cried out, the ball had hit him in the face and made him crash backwards into the sand. "Who's that ghost?" McGee asked Scratch while following behind him.
"This is Geoff...he's a co-worker." Scratch answered in annoyance, Geoff shook his head after seeing ghost birds flapping around it. "Hi!" Geoff said to them with a smile in his face.
"Are you okay Geoff?" Molly asked in concern, Geoff smiled at her. "I'm good but I need to talk to you and Scratch." Geoff told Molly, both the human girl and ghost shared a glance.
The three went back to the campers cabin to have some privacy since the news Geoff had was serious not to mention that it would have Scratch and Molly put in a dire situation quickly.
"What do you want Geofff?" Scratch asked with a sigh, he hopped that the other ghost wasn't hanging around to annoy him. "I was sent here to spy on you." Geoff told Scratch honestly.
"Spy on Scratch? Why?" Molly asked in confusion, Geoff explained that due to the meter going up, the council wanted to know what Scratch was doing since the arrow was now in the middle.
The fact that the ghost council knew something was changing scared Scratch since he knew the consequences of not spreading a ton of misery as per the job of every ghost in the whole world.
"Is that a bad thing?" Molly asked them, both ghosts looked at each other before looking back at her. "If Scratch fails his job then he'll be punished." Geoff answered sadly, Molly tilted her head.
"It means that I'd be sent into the funnel of lost souls along with the other ghosts who failed their jobs and we wouldn't be able to see each other again." Scratch clarified as his human friend paled.
"What do we do?!" Molly asked in panic, Scratch tried to help her. "Scratch needs to spread more misery which will get the council off his back." Geoff answered the panicking girl as she calmed down.
After processing the information, Molly realized that Scratch couldn't just keep scaring everyone at camp sunny smiles or else the ghost council will find out what Scratch has been doing this whole time.
"You need to cause misery to happen here at camp." Molly said quietly, this caught both Scratch and Geoff by surprise. "Are you sure?" Scratch asked her, Molly nodded then went to tell the others everything.
Everyone agreed to let Scratch cause as much misery as he needed to in order to satisfy the council but the one person who needed to feel the most miserable was none other than Molly and that would be hard.
But as Molly watched her best ghost friend do his job, she could already feel the misery within her whenever she thought about losing Scratch to the funnel of lost souls if the ghost council ever ordered it to happen.
The pain that Molly felt was unbearable so she needed to do something to help herself feel at least a little bit better but not enough to make her friend mess up at his job for the entire day as he needed to do this.
[Play Wash The Hurt Away from Arlo the Alligator Boy]
[Molly]
There is no on else who can carry me to the end of
time
There is no one else who can wake me up from this fate
of mine
No crown to wear
No song to sing
Now my skin is thin so let me in
My armor is down to you can begin
Please wash the hurt away from
Please wash the hurt away from
Please wash the hurt away from me
(Music)
Weighted you hated your crest fell upon my chest now
Thousands of pounds the baggage wearing me down now
I came to your door
I'm alone and it's me (I'm alone)
And you still can't believe
I'm a seed that came from your tree
And the life we want flashes, it flashes
And the love we had? Ashes to ashes!
We are lost and we're drifting and drifting away!
Please wash the hurt away from
Please wash the hurt away from
Please wash the hurt away from me
The hurt away from me, yeah
The hurt away from me
Ooo, yeah!
Yeah, yeah
The hurt away from me
(And the life we want flashes, it flashes)
Please, please wash the hurt away!
(Music fades out)
At the end of the song, Molly still felt the fear of losing her best ghost friend if the council ever found out that she's the reason for Brighton changing from a miserable town to a cheerful town due to her cheerful nature.
"It's not going to happen you know." Geoff said to Molly, she jumped at his voice and whirled around to face him. "What won't happen?" Molly asked him, Geoff sat down next to Molly on her bunk in the camper's cabin.
"Scratch won't let the council find out about you or let himself get sent into the funnel of lost souls." Geoff answered her, Molly sighed sadly. "How do you know that it won't happen though?" Molly asked with a frown.
"I know that you and Scratch will watch out for each other and that no matter what happens, you two will stay together." Geoff replied gently, Molly knew that he had a point since she and Scratch are the dream team.
As the two talked about their friend, no one had seen Andrea come into the camp since was going to play a prank on Molly until Scratch scared her. "AHHHHHHHHH!" Andrea screamed before fainting, with a big thud.
"Oops." Scratch said awkwardly, Molly and Geoff along with the others came to see what had happened. "Do we want to know?" Libby asked Scratch, he shook his head. "It was accident." Scratch replied honestly.
"I think you've done enough scarring for now buddy." Geoff told Scratch, for once Scratch didn't deny the fact that he and Geoff are friends. "I'll make my scare report then send it to the council." Scratch responded.
Since the ghost council told Geoff to watch Scratch, he went to supervise his fellow ghost in order to make sure that no one on the council noticed anything unusual about Scratch's scare report for the whole week.
Once Scratch finished off his scare report, he gave it to Geoff who left quickly for the ghost world so he could give the council Scratch's scare report. "I'm going to get in a nap now." Scratch told Molly and her friends.
"Alright." Molly responded to him, Scratch went back to the campers cabin then laid down on his bunk as he thought about the song that Molly had sang as well as what she and Geoff had been talking about earlier.
"I need to make sure the ghost council never finds out about Molly or else they'll torment her until they break her cheerful spirit." Scratch told himself, he'd finally accepted the fact that he does care for the human girl.
Now the only thing he needed to do was protect Molly from the council lest they hurt his best human friend until they break the very thing that makes Molly, well, Molly and if that happened, Scratch would die again.
Scratch was now the one feeling fear of being forced to watch as Molly's spirit was torn apart as the council tormented her if they every found out that she's the reason for the changes happening in Brighton now.
Hopefully, with his and Molly's new friends helping them out, the ghost council will never learn of Molly's cheerful nature or else things will end badly for the both of them and they'll end up being hurt and scarred.
New chapter done! I don't own the song in this chapter or Geoff, please review and no flames!
