Chapter 35

CONTROVERSIONS ABOUT MUGGLE-BORNS MAGIC

Many Muggle-born wizards died in the early fifteenth century. The pretext for the purge was a misconception about how they were blessed with possessing magic. One of the most common theories was that in which an increased incidence of Squibs in pure-blood families is correlated with frequent appearance of Muggle-borns. Unfortunately, it was only a step to the theft of magic as the reason for this state of affairs.

However, doubts soon arose about the validity of these accusations. One of the greatest opponents of this theory was Johnathan Lightwood. He asked a fundamental question. Is it possible for a being without magic to steal magic from wizard? After all, the only known way to steal a magic core was to use a spell that speeds up the depletion of magic energy. This made it possible to move the core from one person to another one.

Regardless of who started spreading this extremely inaccurate theory, the fact remains that it is possible to steal magic. However, as mentioned in the paragraph above, magic is needed in order for magic to be stolen.

Fortunately, it is easy to identify an individual affected by such a crime. The violet color of the eyes is the most easily distinguishable symptom that the wizard has been stripped of the magic core that is an integral part of his being. Despite the fact that this color also occurs in the completely opposite case, namely in the owner of an exceptionally strong and stable magic core, both reasons for having this particular eye color are easy to distinguish. The eyes of a strong wizard magically change their color to violet under the influence of strong emotions or a threat to life. The eyes of a wizard robbed of magic turn violet permanently. …

Durmstrang - September 2

Evan Potter was getting ready to trip for which he wasn't ready. He was appointed as one of the profesors going with their students to Hogwarts. He was concerned because it meant a return to a place he never wanted to return to.

- Don't panic. - Łukasz Łagoda's voice was full of worry. This rebellious Pole was one of the few who knew exactly what his last conversation with his parents was like. So he understood his friend's doubts. - You have to face your fears.

- It sounds better when you tell your students this in class. Not when you have to adapt to it yourself. - Evan sighed resignedly.

- I know what can cheer you up. Imagine the look on Albus Dumbledore's face when he sees you. After all, you were the boy he kicked out of school at the request of your parents. He kicked you out at the beginning of the sixth year.

A smirk appeared on the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's face. - Dumbledore? I don't care anymore about. If I had to think about anyone's reaction, it would be the Bloody Baron. It was with him that I spent countless lonely hours in the Slytherin Common Room. So far, I'm the only Potter ever to get into this House. Members of other families didn't trust me.

Evan smiled. He had many bad memories of his time at Hogwarts. But he also had the good ones. He decided to focus on them. He knew he had a lot similar with Severus Snape. That was why he wanted to help him.

Lucius Malfoy was once again surprised by the approach to teaching at this school. At Hogwarts, despite a lot of spell work, the learning was mostly based on theory. In Durmstrang, it was quite the opposite. He spent the first half of the day watching the theoretical lectures on the spells they used in the practical part of the class.

- You are looking again as if you are surprised. - Helen scared him with her sudden appearance. And she was clearly amused by his reaction. - What surprised your this time?

- Skill level of students of this school. You guys are rather even.

- You're right. However, I must tell you that the boy you chose for my husband is one of the strongest students in Durmstrang. Don't worry, I'm not far behind Severus.

- The boy I chose for you? - Lucius didn't likeit sounda, although he knew it was like that for someone from the outside. - You know what that sounds like? As if I arranged a marriage for you!

Helen laughed and, with a smirk on her face, tossed her hair over her back. - Don't be so hurt. That's true. You helped us both in times of need. You arranged our relationship. And that you are a talented matchmaker is a completely different matter. Keep watching. We are about to finish the exercises and start duels. You have to be prepared when you are fighting, so we often fight each other. We can fight without limits because we have a skilled team of healers here.

He felt like he was falling apart.

Every fragment of his core was torn outwards as he performed this spell. He knew he didn't have to limit himself. Talented healers looked after them.

The moment he felt nothing but his magic, he did what he first managed to do at the beginning of last school year.

He let his magic out. Whole. And this time he didn't pass out.

Lucius was aware that his friend was strong. But he didn't know he was that strong. For the first time, Severus Snape made him truly frighten him.

- Impressive, isn't it? - Helen looked as if the sight were not new to her. - Sev is very talented. For the last year he has been working not only on potions but also on spells. Many of them have been patented.

- Was that supposed to have such an effect? - Lucius's voice trembled with fear. He didn't want to think about those who might try to use the dark-haired wizard to achieve their own goals. - It was as if his magic had exploded in one direction.

The witch finally sat down on the bench at his side. - He can direct magic while performing this spell. The first attempts were quite dangerous. The energy dissipated evenly around him. It was glamorous but also bloody. Fortunately, things are much better now.

The blond thought about one thing. What are these wizards going to do in the next school year? The curriculum at Durmstrang goes far beyond that at Hogwarts.

Hogwarts - September 2

Minerva McGonagall watched her students. She watched attentively as they worked on the test to check how much they remembered from the last school year. She needed to know what to focus on in the year that ended with their final exams. To her surprise, James Potter was the best at answering questions. Slowly, methodically and confidently. She was curious if he would be as confident when they moved to the practice test.

In fact, each of the Marauders seemed to be prepared for the test. Only Miss Lily Evans was rather confused.

- You have fifteen more minutes left. Remember. It isn't an evaluation test. This is a test that will help you figure out what else we should repeat.

A smile spread across Sirius Black's face. At first, when he noticed James repeating the material with the help of Petunia and Regan, he thought that his friend was only doing this to make a good impression on a girl he liked. After all, he did that a lot when he courted Lily Evans. It took about two weeks for him to realize that both James and Petunia were doing this for Regan. That's why he joined them. He didn't think that systematic repetition, even if it was only fun, could have any effect.

The side effect surprised him. He doubted he remembered everything, but thought he could handle most of the questions.

Lily hadn't expected any kind of exam at the start of the school year. She liked learnin but she needed motivation. All in all, she only realized that her results had dropped last year, because it was Severus who dragged her to the library in previous years.

She was furious with herself for not swallowing her pride and joining the science group spontaneously created by James, Sirius and Petunia.

Durmstrang - September 2

Severus felt a weight on his back. He didn't even have to see who was working hard on his spine strain. Michaił was taller and heavier than he was, but it didn't stop him from his love of scaring people.

- You are amazing. Every time I see this spell, it stiffens completely because I don't know what to do. When will you show us how it's done?

- WHen I finally fine-tune this spell. I'm sorry but I want this to be a Snape spell and not a Snape and Krum spell, for example. Pride doesn't allow me to share the fame for this discovery. - He was saying half jokingly. He could share the fame, but hasn't yet been able to share the patent proceeds. He could already live peacefully and without work until his death from the accumulated property. Alone. But he wanted to be able to live peacefully with Helen and their children.

- I think you should come to Hogwarts with us. Eventually, the Swap Ritual is complete, so there is no risk of renewing the bond with Professor Potter's nephew. If I were you, I would like to see the expressions on the faces of those who despised you as soon as possible. Did you forget that your early-stage lycanthropy drug will be released on September 5? This fact will be announced throughout the magical world.

Severus Snape looked at his friend. Michaił was right. It would be nice to be there the moment they read the announcement about his achievement. In particular, that the journalist he spoke with said he was a student of Durmstrang.

- I need to think about. This is probably not that bad idea. I could also meet my grandfather. I have the impression that he is keying around a certain topic, as if he was afraid or ashamed to tell me something.

Aleksiej Ivanovic watched the couple sitting on the couch in his office. After the time they had spent within the walls of Durmstrang, he couldn't imagine that they would leave this place. He would have to work out a proposal for them. Interesting enough not to want to miss out on it.

But now he has to focus on the problem at hand. - We're going to Hogwarts. That cursed castle, unlike our institute, has a spell that limits the movement of Muggles around their area. I haven't figured out how to get around this spell so that you can go with us.

- I think I have an idea. - The Ice Wizard, who had just stepped out of the fireplace in Aleksiej's office, began to look around the room. - You have to come up with some other way to traveling. I personally prefer Apparition. I don't know how a normal person might want to travel that… not hygienic.

- You said you had an idea. - Aleksiej growled. He was irritated by the limit of the time it took to find a solution to the problem.

- I just don't know if you will agree to it. Especially Mrs. Jean, who had a problem with the werewolf's blood. - after a pause, the wizard added - In the past, witches exhausted by multiple pregnancy were recharged with magic by exchanging blood. The effect lasted for about a year. Enough for a woman's body to recover to full strength without the intervention of a healer. I just don't know if that will work for Mr. Richard.

I wonder if you would have read this story if I had rewritten it so that it was no longer a fanfic but an original story. How do you like this chapter? Regards, katie-krum
