Chapter 19: Snakes Den

"They are so fucking. Up there. Right now." Kou groaned, the same thoughts still spinning in his head, as they played guard dog.

"She is not ours." Ruki looked around the corner of the house.

"Ah, your stoic acceptance rears its head again-"

"I never accepted it. It was never my decision to make. I would have loved to have made it, but then she wouldn't be our Eve would she?"

"Nah, but it still doesn't make it better that the Goddamn Sakamaki's get all the fun. Even if Ayato is the new godly Vampire ruler."

"I'd keep that quiet. I'd hate for it to get out…"

Kou's back stiffened slightly. He turned to see Laito's sly eyes behind them. Those damn brothers and their teleportation antics. He scoffed.

"What? Ayato being the-"

"That you're the loser brothers, and we get all the fun. Did I tell you I managed to have a three-some with Lady Bitch and my dear brother? I dare say any other man attempt such a feat to the couple..." He smirked. "But of course, I suppose yelling out who our king is does nothing to help our ploy does it…" His devious eyes lit up as if they were blood hungry.

"We found it. An old house down by the water. Previously abandoned but now adorned with the Vibora crest in a silver knocker on the door… they are attempting a subtle yet deplorable nod to their lack of taste. Not to mention, Burai is next, so the pride of the Vibora is about to be knocked down...they will never be the allies they once were." Reiji scoffed.

"Good, then we, as dutiful bodyguards will leave promptly." Kou rolled his eyes and turned to leave.

"Shall we summon you when we go after Burai?" Laito rocked in his shoes.

"If you believe you need us." Ruki looked back at them, with his cool eyes.

"We don't need you, but if you don't want to at least up your reputation remotely…" Shu muttered.

"We'll consider it. For her." Ruki turned back to the gate and the two left.

A stagnant silence resumed, until they returned inside.

"Find it?" Ayato's eyes seemed to glow even more as of late.

"Yes, and dare I say, if we all go…perhaps we bring her along." Reiji looked to Yui. "I don't trust them not to sneak attack. Snakes are all but unified in their tactics, and if it happens under our nose, we can at least be near her. Our worst predicament is she is given straight to Burai, however if she remains with us, we at least hold more control."

"We'll I'm not about to be hidden, I'm sick of living in fear of them."

"Ah, so the lady is growing her backbone?" Laito nodded. "Also…not living in fear of them quite anymore…your human is showing Lady Bitch."

"We shall have to provide you with more practice with fighting…but for now…" Reiji speculated.

"If anyone does anything, even more reason to cut the damn hydras heads off." Ayato stood.

"And he can shut doors with no hands too." Laito chuckled. "Oh but of course, this is the best part of these lovely defense parties of our Yui: finishing father's wars and eradicating the power of another demon group beckoned to rebel by the taste of our dear Lady."

"Let's do this. This talk is getting old." Subaru took his knife out.

"Ah, straight to the belly of the beast."

Knocking on the door knocker felt rather proper. Then of course, who cares for proper? Ayato, sick of waiting, did in fact let his growing Diabolik powers slam the doors open to the blackened halls of an oversized and abandoned mansion.

"And such ever rebel group does but refurbish the old and decrepit." Laito flicked at some spider webs.

"Should anyone get bit, I have some antidotes…although the best ones will be created when we have their heads, and I can extract them from their saliva." Reiji pulled one out of his sleeve.

"Sounds fantastic." Subaru scoffed.

They came into a main room, dimly lit with candles.

They paused. It was much too silent.

"Stay near me pancake." Ayato closed a hard grasp onto her hand, protectively. She nodded.

Another moment passed before Shu instinctively moved his head, tilting it to the left, as the air wooshed by him. Something had flown terribly close to his face. A quill like dart was sticking out of the painting behind him. Darts?

"Welcome to our humble abode." Misceo's glasses reflected the flickering light as the vibora group stood Infront of them. His tongue licked a dark black feathered dart.

"You are the spitting one. Your darts are simply a feeble attempt at not, what I may call, "horking" on everyone?" Reiji used his wit carefully to challenge him. He recognized his venom must be inserted into the dart.

"And you are not the king but a man with fancy words…" Bella scoffed.

"But he did make you get down on your knees did he not?" Laito's wit surpassed that of Reiji's, causing her pupils to turn to long snake like slits.

"Yes, but the reality of it is…what exactly did you do?" Savide motioned to two girls on the ground. The missing vampiresses.

"Reiji…please…take me again, make me your queen." Her blank eyes clamoured up at the brothers, as she dragged herself to his feet, reaching up as if begging for food, but a bit to close to the area between the legs.

"She is simply mistaken." Reiji stepped back, unsure of the proper way to shoo her, a girl now who may be put into limelight if returned to her parents. His own trace of beatings would not help. He used silver dust to cause her to fall back to the darkness.

"Ayato…please…me too…" The other girl had seemingly appeared behind him. "Make me cum again…" Her hand reached up to his belt.

Ayato shoved the girl away. "What the hell…"

Yui's eyes widened. It wasn't true. But she felt her hand flinch in his grasp. A part of her instinctually wanted to move away. The sudden idea of Ayato with someone else irked her.

"Oh, I see…the vibora were role playing as us." Laito smirked.

"So now it's your call, do you kill them, knowing they have the seed of a hybrid demon in them…or do you let them worship you to the point your dear little Lady feels neglected?" Bella scoffed.

"Admit it. As much as you want the brothers to keep you safe, they'll be perused by the infatuation of women their whole life. Or kill the ones that get in the way… or did you think they would always protect a girl who is only for one of them? The downfall of the bat clan…always looking for new blood…never quite satisfied…always parched…hmmm?" Sepsei stood out from the darkness, his deep green eyes staring right into Yui's.

"They didn't do this…"

"Then have them pledge an oath that they've never been with another girl but you? That these vampire vixens won't end up dead as mothers of hybrids, or the ones you've killed before? Are you really that sure? Or are they becoming a little to like father dearest? How many wives or women did he have? Five? Six…oh dear I lost count…"

"Watch your mouth, that's my mom you're talking about." Subaru hissed, his grasp on his silver dagger tightening. He knew not to engage too soon so as not to put Yui in harms way, but his blood was boiling.

"Oh right…his sister, was it?" Sepsei smirked.

"A snake's tongue might spit venom but it's the truth." Misceo followed along with his reflective stare.

"Screw truth. You're not getting Yui, nor is Burai."

"Is that a challenge?" Savide's velvet voice rolled off the walls.

"If you're asking, then yes." Subaru nodded.

Within a moment the brothers were fighting against the snake demons. Yui tried to keep tabs on the chaos, protected by Ayato, as darts flew around them, Bella seemed to have taken on a half-snake form in an attempt to use her venom to immobilize, while Savide, merely aimed to speak in tempting demeaning words as he fought the others in an attempt to bring down morale.

She tried to slow it down in her mind, impressed by the brother's tactile ways but realized something slightly too late.

The feeling of scales tightening around her body as she was ripped from the fight and into the darkness.

Sepsei. Sepsei had been missing.

She pushed herself off the ground feeling a bit out of sorts. "Why?" Her vision blurred.

"You must see it. The little bat clan is not good for you..."

"You set them up. You can't turn me away from-"

"What? Ayato? Is he the king then?"

"He's the one I love."

"And it's not the blood?"

She focused in to see Sepsei, also half snake, his long, tail was human sized, groin down, half in a human like form.

"Because we don't do it for the blood. They're the real predators."

"I am one of them."

He shrugged, his hard scaley grasp still around her. "Founder…with vibora…take out the vampire and you're just a human hybrid. Plus, I'd revel in the idea of having you…not to mention the power I would have but then again-"

"You kill people for fun…bleed humans out…"

"I could provide you with all the blood you wanted as vampire…plus how could I ever let go of the Eve."

"You are the only one outside our family that calls her that…why?" Reiji suddenly appeared through the doors. He was covered in blood. He rolled Misceos head onto the floor, as he must have extracted what he needed for the antidote.

"An old man once told me the Eve was the answer to everything…"

"Oh my Reiji brother, did you hear? Old Dad had his hands in every cookie jar!" Laito barked as he too seemed to adjust his hat, brushing off blood.

His grasp around Yui's waist was increasing. She wondered if her ribs were going to break.

"It wasn't. An old man…he was the one who recognized I was a Crimson Snake before I was…I was alone in the world until I found out my venom was working. It was easy to kill, to become powerful after that. Why would your tyrant father tell me this? He was killing my kind…"

"To set you on our path…basically to lead you to us." Reiji shrugged.

Sepsei recalled the night. Alone, a child vibora with no venom, an orphan. A defective snake demon. Beaten down in the demon world. Until the old man told him, one dark alley way-night, a secret. He was a Crimson. He could tell. He told him his bite was worth a thousand other viboras. His parting advice was, like a crazy old man, when the Eve comes, she will be the greatest power. When he came to believe what he said, he'd never felt more free.

"Frankly, quite pathetically our father used this bait of your Crimson elitism to fuel you to Burai's side. And now here we are killing the last one of you. Finishing father's tasks." Laito shrugged.

"The Eve has no good to you or Burai. The vampire in her leaves little room for vibora. She cannot cure him with her blood. He only aims to kill her. Let her go. She is not a perfect antidote for his illness, for she fits our tastes better."

"Ah so you are just using her?"

Yui saw something in Sepsei's eyes change. Break. As if in denial of the likely truths the brothers were revealing. She winced suddenly at the feeling of his tightening coil.

"Never. As a matter of fact, the opposite." Ayato appeared behind him and slashed down his father's sword.

"Be careful of that. I would hate for her to bleed out." Sepsei's face had turned from careless to demonic.

It was then Yui realized he hadn't been tightening his grip…something in her was sending pains through her. A sudden burst of pain caused her lungs to burst into scream.

All men were sent flying back. The vibrating sound had pushed all the men back into the wall, as Sepsei's tailed grasp let go of her as she crumpled in pain.

"The only one bleeding out is you." Ayato took the moment to swiftly use his sword to pierce the Crimson snake's chest and clear his head.

"That was the founder blood screaming." Subaru groaned, having joined recently with another vibora head in his hand, along with the others.

"That's the sound of vibora poison reacting to her different blood type…he must have bit her before, when she was out cold." Reiji got up. "I suppose we need his antidote now, otherwise we may loose our Eve after all."
