Chapter 25: The First Step To The Summit! The Indigo Conference Begins!

Michael led the others into the Indigo Plateau.

Ruby - "Wow! This place is huge!"

Michael - "You guys can go ahead and look around."

Yang - "Can we?"

Michael - "Sure. Mikey, Calli, and I are gonna go book rooms for all of us at the hotel. Then we'll join you all afterwards."

Twilight - "What about making sure you guys register for the Indigo Conference?"

Mikey - "The tournament itself doesn't start for a couple more days. But it wouldn't hurt to check-in early on that."

Calli - "Good idea."

So, the party decided to split off from there. Michael, Calli, and Mikey headed for the hotel to check everyone into a room. The rest of Hololive EN, along with John and Jack made their way over to the League's Pokémon Center. And everyone else just wandered aimlessly around the Plateau. Upon reaching the hotel lobby, Michael thought he saw someone familiar at the check-in counter.

Michael - "Is that..."

Michael then suddenly realized the familiar hairstyle.

Michael - "Alice...?"

The woman turned around, revealing that she was in fact Michael's older sister.

Alice - "Hey little brother."

Michael - "Alice!"

Michael rushed forward and hugged Alice, very happy to see her.

Michael - "How you doing sis?"

Alice - "Just fine. You?"

Michael - "Same here."

Calli - "Who's this Michael?"

Michael - "Oh right. Sorry. Mikey. Calli. This is my older sister Alice."

Calli/Mikey - "It's nice to meet you."

Alice - "Nice to meet you both as well."

Michael - "So who's here with you Alice?"

Alice - "It's... Just me and Mordred..."

Michael's face fell.

Michael - "Oh... I see..."

Calli and Mikey shared a sad glance with each other. The two of them, along with the rest of the group that WASN'T from Pokémon Island, were told about what happened to Artoria and Azura. Alice then placed a reassuring hand on Michael's shoulder.

Alice - "They may not be here with us physically, but they always are in spirit."

Michael wiped his eyes, knowing that Alice was right.

Michael - "You're right Alice. They always are. Thanks. I needed to hear that."

Alice - "Not at all little brother."

Alice then surprised the trio by saying that she and the rest of the sisters planned out the hotel accommodations ahead of time. Once those were completely sorted out, Michael quickly asked Alice if he could quickly scan her team with his PokéDex.

Alice - "Sure."

Michael quickly scanned Alice's team. Then the group of four went outside. There they found Ruby with Mordred.

Michael - "Mordred!"

Mordred - "Hey big bro!"

Michael was now happy to have all of his current sisters with him. Soon they arrived at the Pokémon Center, where the guys and Hololive EN registered for the Indigo Conference. Soon they had lunch together. Then it was time for the final Pokemon Dex update. Michael was amazed at the size of the crowd as he waited to be called up. He watched as Professor Oak walked onto the stage first.

Oak - "Hello everyone. I am Samuel Oak, Kanto's Pokémon Professor. Now, a lot of you may be wondering why I have you all here, right? Well, the rest of the professors and I have tasked a single trainer with taking the PokéDex and traveling the regions to see AND catch every Pokémon across the entire world. And that trainer... Is the battle genius Michael Masi himself."

A round of applause was given for Michael.

Oak - "Now before I bring out Michael, let me introduce everyone else that joining me in leading this viewing. First is the only other one here in person. Please welcome Michael's younger twin sister and the inventor of the Battle Disk system, which will be given to everyone that makes the knockout stage, Akira Masi!"

The crowd roared for Akira as she walked onto the stage.

Oak - "And now for everyone else. First is Professor Elm from Johto."

Elm - "Charmed."

Oak - "Professor Birch from Hoenn."

Birch - "Hello Indigo Plateau!"

Oak - "Professor Rowan of Sinnoh."

Rowan - "Pleasure."

Oak - "Professor Juniper and her father Cedric from Unova."

Juniper/Cedric - "Hello!"

Oak - "Professor Sycamore from Kalos."

Sycamore - "Salutations everyone."

Oak - "Professor Kukui from Alola."

Kukui - "Alola!"

Oak - "Professor Magnolia from Galar."

Magnolia - "Cheers."

Oak - "Professor Laventon from Hisui."

Laventon - "Hello."

Oak - "And finally Professors Sada and Turo from Paldea."

Sada/Turo - "Greetings."

Oak - "And here's our other guest, Michael and Akira's mother Tracie."

Tracie - "Hi everyone!"

Juniper - "What's going on behind you Tracie?"

Tracie - "Just getting a massive viewing party ready for when the Indigo Conference begins."

Oak - "Anyway. Now for the man of the hour. Michael Masi!"

Michael took his cue and walked onto the stage, the crowd roaring for him. He waved back to them, then walked over and hugged Akira, followed by shaking hands with Professor Oak.

Oak - "Now then Michael. For the final time in Kanto. Show us the progress on your PokéDex."

Michael - "Sure thing Professor Oak."

Oak - "Congrats on seeing every Pokémon in Kanto Michael."

Everyone else applauded Michael as well.

Oak - "Now then. Does anyone have any questions for Michael?"

One trainer raised their hand.

Michael - "Yes."

Trainer A - "Can we get to know how you became a Pokémon in the first place?"

Michael quickly explained what had happened to him a week before his tenth birthday. A lot of the trainers there were amazed and stunned that Michael was able to survive. Another trainer then raised their hand.

Michael - "You."

Trainer B - "Think we could see Riagon in the flesh? Along with Delphox and Ninetales in their human forms?"

Michael rolled his eyes a bit at the second request, but brought out the trio anyway. Everyone cooed at Riagon and thought she was very cute. Then they saw Delphox and Ninetales. Pretty much everyone admitted to how beautiful they looked. A few of the guys also sent cat calls their way, getting a few chuckles from the crowd as the Fire-Type duo playfully answered back that they were happily taken already. The duo then shocked everyone by kissing Michael on the lips in front of them.

Michael - "Was that really necessary?"

Delphox/Ninetales - "Yes..."

Michael - "You two are so gonna pay for that later."

Both girls panicked, much to the crowd's amusement. Michael then chuckled a bit and returned his gaze to the crowd, much to Delphox and Ninetales's relief.

Michael - "Now then. Does anyone have any more questions for me?"

One final hand was raised.

Michael - "Yes."

Trainer C - "To clarify what your younger twin Akira said back in Fuchsia City before your big battle with Koga, she said that only those of us trainers that make it to the knockout stage are gonna be allowed to use them right?"

Michael - "That's correct. She's got 128 on hand in case I somehow don't make it past the group stage in some strange twist of fate."

Trainer C - "So what about the rest of us then?"

Michael - "Well it depends entirely on how positive the reviews for the Battle Disk are during the Knockout Round. It gets enough, then Akira gets the support and funding to mass produce them to every other trainer across the world. Is that enough of an answer for you?"

Trainer C said yes and sat back down. Since there weren't any other questions, Michael handed the mic back over the Professor Oak and went over, sitting next to his twin.

Oak - "Now then. Any more questions?"

No one said anything.

Oak - "Ok then. This PokéDex event is officially over. We will see you all for the torch lighting to begin the league."

Soon everyone filed out of the hall. The party meanwhile got together for lunch.

Michael - "God I'm excited and nervous for tonight."

Gura - "Same here."

Mikey - "Hey we all are. But we also have to put aside those nerves to be able to give the fans here a show."

Ame - "Mikey's right. Being nervous during a battle will do more harm than good. But being excited for this also has its ups and downs."

After lunch was over, the entire split up again and went around the festival grounds till some time before the opening ceremony. Around 30 minutes to go before the opening ceremony, the guys and Hololive EN joined the rest of the trainers on the field on the main stadium, while the others found some good seats in the stands. Mr. Goodshow had walked onto the stage.

Mr. Goodshow - "Hello everyone. I'm Mr. Goodshow, the head of the entire Pokémon League. I can already tell that this year's Indigo Conference is gonna be an exciting one. Now before we light the podium, I think it's only fair that the Battle Genius himself should give a speech for us."

Michael quickly walked through the crowd of trainers and made him way onto the stage. He then took the mic.

Michael - "First off. Let's give a round of applause to Mr. Goodshow for getting everything here set up in a timely matter like he always does."

Michael led the applause as Mr. Goodshow waved to the crowd before sitting back down.

Michael - "And before I continue, it's also an honor to do the League opening speech. I know a lot of you guys and girls would love to be in my spot right now."

Everyone chuckled a bit at that."

Michael - "Anyway. On to my main speech. Now I'm sure a lot of you guys aren't asked this a lot. But what do you guys is the main reason for being a Pokémon Trainer in the first place?"

No one said anything. Michael then took the silence as reason for him to continue.

Michael - "You know what I think it means? To explore the world. To possibly discover something that no one else has yet. To meet all kinds of new Pokémon and friends along the way. Now sure with a lot of positives come a lot of negatives. Evil Teams trying to take over the world. Legendary Pokémon running amok and trying to destroy everything around us. However, the only way to always overcome those negatives is to take every positive that you've made and strike back with even more force. As of right now, my younger twin Akira is working her butt off to discover just how strong the bond between humans and Pokémon can get. As for me, I'm sure a lot of you heard about a kid that was nearly killed by Teams Galactic and Plasma? Well, you're looking at him."

Everyone gasped in shock at hearing that.

Michael - "I'll admit. When the beam they fired was about to hit me, I willingly accepted my fate. And yet, by pure chance, I'm still here damnit! And if ANY of you think for a second that I'm just gonna stand by and let them get away with what they did, then you're sorely mistaken!"

The entire crowd roared back in response, cheering Michael on.

Michael - "Now then. I think it's time to get this show on the road."

Everyone then watched as the torch carrying Moltres's flame was brought in. The carrier walked up to the stairs, then stood next to the podium and lit the cauldron with the flame. This meant that the Indigo Conference had officially begun.
