Lucy glanced up at the sky as a pitch black bird flew overhead.

"Lucy, come on!" her twin sister called from the other side of the river the two were supposed to be crossing. Twig, their deer-fox, gave a high trill as he hopped up and down from his spot next to Hilda.

Stray droplets of water pelted the two as the stood on the shore, waiting for the last third of their group.

"Alright, alright, hold your horses!"

Taking a running start, Lucy ,with a lot of agility, hopped from one river rock to another, her breath catching when she almost slipped off a sharp rock into the cold water.

"Haha!" she laughed triumphantly when she landed on the riverbank, barely registering Hilda clapping. "That's how you jump on rocks!"

Twig gave another high pitched trill and stomped a hoof, his signal for moving on.

The trio continued walking, their destination far ahead. Or maybe it wasn't? Lucy wasn't too sure, her estimate of distance had always been off.

By the time, she trailed behind her sister and pet, walking walking up and then down a rather large hill (or was it a mountain?). Woffs, well, 'Woffed" around them before flying off into the horizon.

"Hilda, I don't have a problem with walking long distances, but can we stop?" asked Lucy as she dodged a branch. "Aren't your feet getting tired?"

"Nope!" replied Hilda before she looked at Twig, who had stopped mid step in a grassy area and started growling at a large Troll-shaped rock.

"No need to worry!" explained Hilda as she cut off her sister, who had started to shout a warning. "Me and Twig brought something for that!"

Handing off a bell that had been kept in her pocket, Hilda and her sister watched in silence as Twig climbed up the Troll rock and tied the bell around a rather long nose before jumping down with a squeak.

"Good job, Twig!" congratulated Hilda.

Lucy echoed her thanks as she petted Twig on the head before plopping down on the grass in a criss cross applesauce position. Hilda did the same opposite of Lucy as she pulled out a sketchbook and pencil from somewhere amongst her person.

Hours passed as the sisters and deer-fox sat in the grass, occasionally getting up to stretch or play. Hilda drew the flowers around her and documented them neatly. Twig and Lucy messed around in the dirt, making dirt castles or towers, only to knock them down in the end.

As the sun set, Lucy grew worried, her mind straying to the stone troll a short distance away from her.

Hopping up from the stump she was sitting on a moment before, Lucy hurriedly pulled her sister to her feet, ignoring Hilda's complaints.

"Come on!" she ordered, pulling Hilda along.

Hilda refused by digging her heels into the sand as she yelled, "Hey, what? Stop dragging me!"

The sound of cracking rock followed Hilda's words, along with a terrible roar as glowing green eyes appeared over the already broken top half of the rock.

In a panic, the usual tight lid Lucy kept on her powers slipped, her glowing eyes unnoticed by Hilda as she was pulled along by Lucy.

The furious roars of the troll grew closer and closer as the stomping grew louder and louder.

"RUN!" Lucy grabbed Hilda as Twig followed.

Hilda's heart pounded and a look of fear washed over her face, she held Lucy's hand.

"Quick, in the cottage!" Lucy pointed to their house. Hilda quickly ran into the house, as Lucy and Twig followed.

Johanna hastily let the two in. But Lucy just stood for a second and looked behind her for a glimpse of the troll. Hilda looked back, seeing her sister just standing there.

"Lucy! Come on!" Hilda yelled as Twig whimpered

The troll grew closer and closer, but she just stood there still. Hilda grew worried. The troll was trying to reach his nose but his tries didn't work, he kept roaring in pain. Tears dripping down its face.

"Hilda... I think he's in distress.." Lucy said to her sister

Her eyes softened. The troll kept trying and trying but it was hopeless.

"The bell is making him lose his sanity... and his arms are too short for him to get rid of the bell" She slowly walked up to the troll to help

"Lucy no!" Hilda tried to run but it wasn't worth it

She stood in front of the troll and tried to help but it kept growling at her

"I-its ok, don't worry. I'll help you" She said softly to the troll

She gently grabbed its nose and loosened the bell then took it off. The troll stood up and rose it's hand.

"Uh oh-" whispered Lucy

The troll grabbed her and rose her high and roared loudly. Lucy braced for the worst but then all the tension stopped. She was confused why didn't the troll harm her but instead, it rolled out its tongue, revealing Hilda's sketchbook covered in saliva.

"Oh! Uh- thanks! I guess?" Lucy grabbed the sketchbook and waved it a bit for the saliva to drip out

The troll rolled back its tongue and put her down. And it walked away like nothing happened. Lucy walked back to Hilda and Twig. Hilda was just in pure shock.

"Here's your sketchbook Hilda" She handed Hilda her sketchbook "Lets go" She pulled Hilda back inside the cottage as Twig followed

"What just happened?" Said Hilda while being dragged inside

"Well I gotta tell you, sometimes you'll find yourself in a traumatic situation like that but such is the life of an adventurer" Lucy said proudly

They smiled until some of the saliva that was left on the notebook dropped onto the floor as we looked down on it

Hilda sighed "we need this thing cleaned up" She admitted

20 minutes later

Lucy and Hilda were in their pajamas at night, Lucy walked up to the fire in front of them and sat on the floor. Warming herself up.

"Are you sure you don't want to sit next to us?" Said Hilda, petting her deer fox

"Oh! I uh‐ just need to warm up, that's all" Lucy hid her glowing green eyes while waving her hands at the fire to make it glow green, just like her eyes.

She tried to suck the energy from it but it still couldn't work. After all the years she went through, knowing that she's a Marra. She still couldn't absorb magic on her own, from a young age to the present. She heard rumors that special Marra's can absorb magic on their own, she determined herself to find out if this was true. She decided to give up and turn herself and the fire back to normal. She sighed

"Whats wrong?" Hilda asked

"Its nothing really" Lucy smiled at her sister

"If you say so.." said Hilda

Johanna walked in with some food and drinks, assuming it was for them.

"Here Hilda" she gave Hilda her sketchbook that was dry and cleaned up "good as new! I made tea for us!" She layed down a tray with the cookies and drinks, and handed Hilda a cup of tea.

"I am seriously appreciating the coziness in here right now" Hilda grabbed the tea and blew out the steam then slurps out of the cup.

"And for you Lucy" Johanna walked up to the girl, and pulled a nice, hot, cup of coco. "A cup of coco!" She handed it to her

She gasped in excitement and quickly grabbed the cup, blew out the steam and drank it completely.

"Thanks for the coco mum!" Lucy said gratefully

"Well someone was thirsty!" Johanna laughed as Hilda giggled

They all laughed until they all heard a man whistling by the door, they looked to see who it was. But it was none other than the man made of wood. He entered without permission, carrying logs.

"The wood man!" Johanna scoffed

"Oh, that guy..." Lucy pointed to the wood man

The wood man comes up to the stack of logs next to the fire and puts the rest of the logs he carried onto the stack then put one log onto the fire. Then sits down and lays his head onto the floor carpet, in front of the fire.

"Its rude" Johanna exclaimed

"Its okay. He probably just wants to get warm." said Hilda

The wood man starts reading a book called "Giants of Old"

"And besides, he brings us wood" Hilda smiled

"That might be the only GOOD benefit about him..." Lucy whispered to Hilda

"Its drafty in here. You should really close that door." said Wood Man

Hilda growled and put her cup of tea onto the tray that her mom was holding and was about to leave the couch until Lucy went to do it instead

"I got it" Lucy said bluntly

Lucy walked up to the door, shut it with a slam, and was about to walk away but then the door knocked.

Lucy furrowed her eyebrows "now what?" She sighed

She opened the door and looked around. But there was no one there. She looked down to see a tiny envelope, she grabbed it and looked closely.

"Its another one of those tiny letters!" said Lucy

She brought the tiny thing into the house and closed the door.

"Good grief! That's the sixth one this week!" Johanna grabbed the letter and took a magnifying glass. She set the letter on her table and looked closely with the glass.

"Is it from the hidden people again?" Hilda asked

"yes it is" Johanna replied

"Are they still saying that we have to move or they're gonna smash our house and stuff?" Hilda said bluntly

"Basically" said Johanna

"Who are these people?!" Hilda raised her arms in the air then sat down on the couch

"Well, they're tiny and don't like us very much" Johanna smiled while turning her chair to face the girls

"Well I don't like them. Lucy write a note for them! And be sure to sign it for the both of us!" Hilda pointed to Lucy

"Fine" said Lucy

Lucy grabbed a piece of paper and a pen then sat down at the table. She wrote something on the paper for a few minutes then stopped and showed it to her sister.

Hilda grabbed it and read,

"Dear to whom it may concern,

Please leave us alone! We are nice people, so please stop being mean! We did nothing to you so what makes you want to harm us? So please, stop threatening us to trash our house!

All the best, Hilda and Lucy"

"You really get me Lucy" Hilda smiled at her sister as Lucy smiled back

Hilda opened the door and went outside

"Listen up little guys! Whoever you are, this one's for you!" Hilda shouted while setting down the note Lucy made.

"I can't read with all these distractions." Wood man walked outside with his book

"Good night to you too" said Hilda

She shut the door and went back inside.

"Maybe Lucy's note should do the trick" Johanna smiled as Hilda sighed while lying down on the couch

Hilda looked back at the table to see a unfinished board game they forgot to finish.

"Lets finish our game of Dragon Panic." Hilda smiled

"Is it my turn next, Lucy's, or yours?" Johanna sat down next to Hilda, so did Lucy.

"Mine" said Hilda

Johanna gave Hilda the dice then Hilda rolled the dice onto the table

Night time

Everyone was asleep. Johanna was sleeping on the edge of the couch while Lucy and Hilda was laying down on the couch. And Twig was sleeping next to the girls. The tv was still open but something was sliding up the window, tiny footsteps pattering on the floor. A small statue that the family owned moved, causing a book to fall a bit on the side.

The tv started to glitch until completely turning into static, waking Twig and Lucy up. A male voice started coming from the tv.

"Attention residents! Due to you failure to heed our warnings, we shall now implement you forcible eviction from the premises!" The male voice called

Lucy woke Hilda up.

"FORCIBLE EVICTION NOW! BANISH THE BIG BOOTS!" Several male voices called out

A pebble broke through a window and hit Johanna's head, waking her up.

"What the-?" Johanna asked

A plant pushed itself to the ground, causing it to break. A lampshade behind them fell over, causing it to break as well. Then random this were being thrown all around.

"Ow! Ow! Mum!" yelled Hilda and Lucy

More and more stuff came flying across all directions.

"JETTISON THE GIANTS!" The male voice said until the tv fell to the ground, the glass got broken and so did the tv.

More male voices said "heave ho, you must go! Heave ho, you must go!"

The couch started to shake till it fell over, with the others. A book fell on Hilda's head

"Alright" said Hilda

She hoped out under the couch and grabbed a broom.

"That's enough!" Hilda sweeped up the hidden people

Male shouts could be heard. Hilda started sweeping everywhere then she went up to the door and sweeped all the little guys out.

"Get out!" Hilda yelled

Lucy went outside with her sister "are they gone?"

"Yep, that's was a lot of work" Hilda looked down at her feet "you shouldn't come outside barefooted, your feet could get dirty" Hilda went back inside

Lucy rolled her eyes and went back inside, stepping on a broken picture frame of Lucy, Hilda, and Twig when they were little. Hurting herself due to the broken glass. She winced form the pain but decided to not tell her sister or mum. She grabbed her boots and put them on to hide the wound. Twig went beside Lucy and sniffed her foot. Lucy smiled softly and does a 'sh' hand gesture to the deer fox and pet him.

"Mum they're-!" Hilda stepped on a ripped book "oh boy.."

"Hilda, we can't stay here! Not if this is gonna keep happening." said Johanna

"What?" Hilda questioned

"We've never been attacked like this." Johanna grabbed a drawing of wood man and Hilda & a picture frame of Lucy petting Twig

"I think we'll have to move to Trolberg." She said as her eyes softened, catching Lucy's attention

"But we've been here all time, since I was born!" Hilda pleaded

"Moving to Trolberg could be a good thing." said Johanna

"And I get to finally meet my pen pal!" Lucy jumped in

"Huh?... Oh, that pen pal! At least she agrees with me" Johanna smiled

"who's your pen pal?" Hilda asked

"His name is David, he lives in Trolberg. We've been writing to eachother since I was a little kid! If we move to Trolberg, I'll finally meet my pen pal in person!" Lucy said as if she was very excited

"And you can also make some proper friends, wouldn't that be nice?" Johanna asked nicely

"No, I love it here in the wilderness! It's literally the best place ever! Please mum, I don't wanna live in the dirty old city." Hilda held onto her mom's arm

Johanna eyes softened as Hilda had her 'please!' face on while holding Twig.

"I'm sorry, but if one thing like this happens again, we're gone." Johanna sat on the stairs

Hilda sighed and furrowed her eyebrows and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen then wrote:

"Dear little guys who trashed my house,

why are you so mad at my family?! Please tell me so I can fix it and we can all live in peace!

All the best, Hilda and Lucy"

"why did you write my name on it?!" Lucy asked

"Because we are NOT moving to Trolberg, end of discussion!" Hilda answered angrily

Hilda set down the note outside and went back inside and closed the door

"I hope they're not mad to even read my note.." said Hilda

"Let's get some rest, we'll clean this up tomorrow" said Johanna

They all went upstairs and too their rooms

15 minutes later

Everyone was asleep but not Lucy. She took off her boots to reveal her wound

"Now, how to deal with this.." said Lucy

"Maybe I could just hide this until me and my family are finished cleaning up our house so I can find some freaking bandages for this" Lucy said to herself

She quietly opened the door in Hilda's room, and tipped toed her way to Hilda's closet to get one of her scarf's since she has spares. She quickly grabbed that and tipped toed back and escaped quietly without leaving any trace that she was there. She went back to her room to fix her foot.

She carefully removed the shard that was stuck in her foot, used her Marra powers to block the cut, and wrapped it all with Hilda's scarf.

"That should hold" said Lucy

She went straight to bed and got to sleep pretty fast

1 minute later

Everyone was sound asleep. The note was still there but a pointy headed shadowy figure was in front of the note. The guy read what was inside then went into the house and opened the door to Hilda's room. Footsteps can be heard but not loud enough

"Psst... little girl" a voice whispered

Hilda woke up and gasped "who's there?"

"I'm one of the little people who trashed your house" said the voice

Hilda grabbed a pillow and raised it high "get out"

"Oh! The trashing wasn't done by me personally. I'm more of a writer than a fighter!" The voice said to the girl

Hilda was confused, she looked under her bed "did you read my note?"

"Indeed" the voice replied

"Wait, am I dreaming? You sound like your just a voice inside my head." Hilda held her head

"not at all!" the voice said happily

She opened her closet "so why won't you show yourself?"

"Oh, my people take the business of who sees them and who doesn't very seriously. Which means of course, that there's a lot of paperwork involved." The voice explained

Hilda looked over to her bookshelf "what kind of paperwork?"

"If you'll just go over to your desk please, I took the liberty of filling out the relevant papers for you. I think you'll find the forgery quite impressive." said the voice

Hilda looked over to her desk to see a stack of tiny papers. She took the paper from the top of the stack to see it was already signed her name. "indeed"

"Now, If you'll sign this last page yourself, we'll be all set." the voice said to her

She took the last page that was left out of the stack and signed her name "This better be not some kind of trick."

"There, now where are you?" Hilda asked

"Ahm, look in the mirror" the voice whispered

She went to the mirror "I don't-"

"Your ear" said the voice

Hilda faced her ear to the mirror to see...

"Coo-ee!" A elf chuckled

A little elf with red clothes and a pointy red hat on her ear. Hilda faced the right way to the mirror

"Your very, very small." Hilda smiled, looking at the elf

"Mm, I'm on the tall side for an elf actually. So um.. My name is Alfur" Alfur bowed

"It's nice to finally see you Alfur." said Hilda

"It's nice to be seen!" Alfur smiled "Now, if you'll come outside with me. There's something I want to show you, should we bring your sister, Lucy too?"

"She doesn't really like to be woken up. I'll just show her in the morning" Hilda answered

"Eh, suit yourself" said Alfur

Hilda, Alfur, and Twig sneaked out of their room, tipped toed across the hallway, and slowly went downstairs and opened the door to see a bunch of tiny house all around their house.

Hilda gasped "Wow... this is... amazing!"

They all roamed around the land to explore the houses. Twig snarled at one and lunged at it but his body just went through the whole thing, not a single dent on the house. And it all happened with a strange blue glow

"Careful there Twig!" Hilda carried Twig out of the house

She set the deer fox down then Twig walked up to it again and touched the house a few times but it just went straight through it.

"Have these been here all the time, and I just couldn't see them?" Hilda crouched down to a house

"Correct" said Alfur

Hilda grabbed a house and shook it a bit

"Careful with that! Somebody lives there you know?" Alfur said to the girl looking through the window of the house to see another elf inside

"Whoops" said Hilda as she set the house down

"Yeah whoops indeed. Look, behavior like that will not endear you to elf kind" Alfur explained

Hilda looked through the window again "sorry about that"

The other elf huffed. Hilda, Twig and Alfur walked more further.

"How many houses are there? How far does this go?" Hilda asked

"I dare say, as far as the eye can see. There's 15 counties in this valley alone and your house is smack in middle of my one." Alfur answered

"But why get mad now? My great-granddad built that house. I lived here all my life and there hasn't been any bother" said Hilda

Alfur sighed as he hopped off of Hilda's ear and onto a small boulder with a tiny building on it "It's the new prime minister"

Alfur climbed up a tiny flagpole that has a boot that looks like Hilda's and a big 🚫 on it

"He promised to get rid of you if he was elected and now that he has been, he has to see to it that he does" the elf pointed to the flag

"But that's not fair! We're allowed to live here as much as you are!" said Hilda as she pulled the tiny flag

The flag swayed swiftly with Alfur holding on "don't shout at me! I agree!" He whimpered

"And besides, If you weren't so sniffy about who sees you and who doesn't. Then maybe my granddad would've chosen somewhere a bit less... populated" Hilda exclaimed

"It's an important tradition of my people to be... sniffy about it" Alfur crossed his arms

"So take me to the prime minister" Hilda held out her hand "Maybe I could explain things to him and fix this before mum moves us to Trolberg"

Alfur climbed onto her hand

"For one thing, it's the middle of the night. And for another, you can't simply request a meeting to go and say "hello!"" Alfur waved

"But Lucy and me are the giant girls so-"

"The mayor! I'll arrange a meeting with the mayor of the town your house is currently occupying" said the elf

Alfur hoped out of Hilda's hand and twirled himself down through the flagpole and back onto the rock.

"Perhaps he can help us with the prime minister." Alfur assured the girl

"Well okay but-"

"Got to dash now! I'll come for you and your sister tomorrow. Good night, Hilda!" The elf ran away

Hilda walked away with Twig following her, carefully trying to avoid the houses. They finally got back in front of their house. But then, a huge shadow was covering upon them. Hilda looked up on the mountains to see what is was. It was a huge giant peeking over the mountains.

"What the-?" Hilda gasped

Twig whimpered and she pat his head but second she did that, she looked over again to see the giant was gone

"Mum and Lucy are not gonna like this" said Hilda

She eventually snuck back into bed to finally rest from all that.

In the morning

She changed her clothes and went up to Lucy's room. As soon as Lucy heard her coming, she quickly got up and put her boots on.

"Hey Lucy" Hilda greeted her sister "I want you to meet somebody" she held out her hand to reveal Alfur

But as soon as Lucy looked onto her hand, she didn't see anything

"Uh... I don't se-" Lucy was cut off

"Hello!" The elf waved

Lucy was shocked, she was hearing voices

"Who said that?!" Lucy looked around

"Alfur said that" said Hilda

Lucy was confused until she thought 'maybe its just one of her "imaginary friends" she had before Twig became a part of our family'

"My name is Alfur and I suppose we met before? When your house was trashed?" said Alfur

"Uh... Nice to meet you Alfur! Your a-?"

"a elf" Alfur replied

"Right! A elf!" Lucy lied her enjoyment since he's one of the people who wrecked the house

"Don't worry Lucy, he's more of a writer than a fighter" Hilda whispered a Lucy sighs "get dressed! Were off to another adventure!"

"Not today... I'm helping mum clean the house, you can go on without me!" said Lucy

"You okay with this Alfur?" Hilda asked the elf

"I don't see why not" Alfur answered

"Alright! See you when we get back Lucy!" Hilda said while putting Alfur behind her ears and ran out the door

Lucy waved goodbye then she walk to her drawer "now, off to my daily letter to my pen pal.."

Lucy went up to her desk and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote

"Dear David,

The most craziest thing happened! Yes, our house was finally trashed from all the letters we get saying that me and my family got to move or a messed up house is all we get BUT my mom spoke that if that keeps happening, we'll have to move to trolberg! I couldn't believe what I just heard! I'm still questioning myself if I heard it right! Did she just say MOVE TO TROLBERG!? My sister keeps saying that she wants to stay here in the wilderness but unlike me, I really want to meet you in person! And may I add one more thing, Hilda just earned another imaginary friend... One more friend that keeps me away from my own sister... But don't let that extra detail make us feel sad! The only thing I'm writing about is that I have a chance to convince mom to move to Trolberg! I don't care if my sister is against it, as long as I get to meet you in person. Oh, and I hope that your not too busy with school or with Sparrow scout activities to even read this letter. Because this is very important! I'll put this in a red envelope just in case you can't find this in the mail. Hope you have a good day!

All the best, Lucy"

She quickly took out a red envelope and put the written paper inside it as she promised. Sealed it and went outside of her room and into the porch of her family's house, a mail man in his truck went up to her as usual to deliver her letter

"This's another letter I'm sending Mark, deliver this to Trolberg as fast as you can! This letter holds important information. The address is written on the envelope." She handed the envelope to the mail man and he drove as quickly as possible back to Trolberg to deliver

She waved good bye until the truck was no longer to be seen

"Man that letter took me hours to write-" she was cutted off by Hilda marching back to home

"Where have you been?" She smiled

"Oh you know, planning another adventure with Alfur" Hilda smiled back

Lucy furrowed he eyebrows but still smiled "of course... Alfur... you know what? I'll join you"

"Really?" Hilda asked

"Yep, I kinda already miss going adventures with you again" said Lucy

Hilda smiled "we'll both need time to prepare. As Alfur said, we'll leave the day after tomorrow at sunrise"

"Whatever you say sis" Lucy marked a smile on her face too as the day continued
