I need to have my oc have plots and time away from Camelot, for a while, and this feels more natural. Magic for those without a blessing or bloodline should take a while, their craft is entirely cerebral and that means it would be a product of time and effort...

Two Years before Merlin goes to Camelot

Pain was all he felt as he slowly returned to the world of the living, his head aching horrible, a vile taste in his mouth... he was sure he would fade out entirely soon enough. That his weak spark of life would fade away, leaving nothing in it's place...

And then he heard it, a soft muttering, and with every unclear word he felt magic flowing through his body, strength and life and hope, the feeling of the sun on his skin and a full belly. He felt peace wash through him and slowly he began to open his eyes.

"Well, hello there, we never thought you'd wake up." The voice's source was a dark skinned man, bald and smiling. "My name is Aglain, and it is an honor to meet you, Joshua."

Said boy flinched. "How did you know my name? Wait, my wound, how did you..." The boy moved his hand to his head, where he felt not even dried blood. "Magic... in Camelot, are you mad?"

Aglain tipped his head. "Are you not upset that we broke the law, that magic is evil?"

The boy sighed. "I have never seen magic before, but I know that nothing is evil innately. Not knives, swords, fists or magic. All things hold potential for good or evil..."

"Wise words, you are what fourteen?"

"Yessir..." He sighed. "And homeless... my parents were killed by ague years ago, my village was tired of supporting me so I... they chased me out. I have nowhere to go now.. I have been trained in no skills, I will starve."

A calloused hand grabbed his arm. "We will never turn away those in need... and we will teach you the skills you need."

"Even magic?"

"If you feel it is something you wish to learn... then yes, we will teach you magic."

The boy smiled. "I... after my family perished, from the ague, I wanted to be a healer, to save those from such things. Can I learn that, as you have healed me?"

"I am sure we can manage that...Joshua."

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was simple but fun. The Druids have vast skills, healing, are separate from a lot of the plot... and are confirmed to teach people magic.
