Thank you to my friend Casey for this awesome story idea!

There is some possibility in the non canon novels that helped me with this.

I am drawing on Barraca, he was a badass.

Pain was something Casey was used to, but this was something extreme. Blood oozed from his side, and his lips as he lay against the brick wall of the alley. His heart ached more than his wound, a wound inflicted by one of the homeless people he had been helping just that day. He was going to die, he knew it to be true. Closing his eyes, he hoped the pain would never stop, for if it did, then he would be dead and to be honest he had no interest in dying...

"You will not die today." He would have jumped, startled by a beautiful voice, but the words were infused with such love he could not even move as he felt comforted by them. Opening his eyes, he saw a woman, a stunning woman with the most kind green, perfect alabaster skin and the warmest of smiles. "Stand, my son, and rise." She reached down, grabbed his hand and lifted him from the ground, and his body as he quickly saw.

"The hell? Nothing hurts?" He turned to look at his wound and saw nothing, not even a mark. " How?"

She laughed. "I am Hecate, goddess of magic, healing your wound is but an easy task for me."

"Goddess?"

"Titanness too, technically, but I digress." She smiled at him, this time with mischief in her eyes. The mischief faded. "I am sorry though, for I am not here just to save you, but to ask you for help."

"Me? I am eighteen years old and just fresh out of highschool, how can I help a literal goddess?"

She sighed. "You are smart, kind and willing to serve others but are not so blinded by selflessness that you are unwilling to serve yourself. It is your room for growth that draws me... why I am begging you for aid. I am sorry to ask anything of you, you are so young, but I am in a hard position. Something very dark has just happened and It has given me a rare moment to even make this offer. I cannot even give you more time to answer, but I need you to answer it soon... "

"What can I do?"

"To be honest, not a lot as you are, but as my Priest and Champion, you can do a lot. You see, though I claimed the Witches as my children, I am not the source of their powers. I simply became their adoptive mother eons ago. You see, witches and Gypsies are tied to and an ancient oath they were forced into to serve the world and never themselves. They are forced by that power, the powers they are born to as their powers are from blood and destiny, to even feel like they are required to serve the world, it is in their nature. The Elders, angels, are using them as soldiers to the point that my children are dying at a rapid pace that is not acceptable. I need someone to help undo this, and you may be able to do this."

He gaped at her. "How?"

"Well, first off I would have you learn magic. You may lack a magical gene or destiny, but technically you can still learn magic if you are exposed to it enough. So few magical beings ever bother to do that, they rely on their bloodlines to do all the work for them. I can help with that. I will grant a talisman to give you magic until you learn to use it without my aid. I will also direct you to a gyspy community to learn the craft through them. You will do what you can, create connections and when you are ready... you will fight back against the forced battles of good and evil and help my children gain the freedom stolen from them eons ago! Can I trust you to do this?"

He stood there, frowning. "If you are not a hallucination... I guess I can. I mean with what you said, it sounds terrifying and I cannot believe anyone would want to raise soldiers out of people."

Her smile was radiant. "Your goodness knows few bounds... when you wake, you will be by a Gyspy compound, Look for a Woman named Lydia, she is their leader. She can get you started. Tell her that you are in need of magic lessons and have no one to help you. She will sense my blessing and start you on the path to success. I am sorry to force this on you, I am the goddess of Choice, I reject nonsense like bloodlines and destiny, which in part is why I chose you... now go, awaken and find your path to success and greatness!" She stopped suddenly. "Do not reveal my influence, the Elders would destroy you out of spite. You must hide until you are ready to rise."

The world went dark with a wave of her hand, and when he awoke, he heard people muttering. Standing, he moved towards the muttering and saw a compound of people far from the alley he just nearly died in. In his hands were a book and a necklace, one of two torches crossing. He placed it on his neck and felt power wash through him and knew he was now able to use magic.

Taking a deep breath, he smiled. "I always wanted to help the world... and now I can... thank you, Hecate..." Walking into the compound, he smiled. "Um... is there a Lydia here, I was told she could help me?"

A woman with beautiful and large curly blonde hair approached him. "I am Lydia, I do believe I can help you." She smiled and stepped closer. "You have recently awakened your magical talents!"

"Something like that... I need a teacher... can you help?"

"I would be honored."

And just like, in mere moments, Casey's life changed forever, nearly killed by a homeless man, saved by a goddess and learning magic from a Gyspy... who knew where else his life would turn?

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was a joy to write, a bit of a weak chapter but great overall.

Love, your Ninja Overlord,

Mika.
