Red Fire burned in her palms, warming the cool night around her body. Shaunie hurried forward, rushing towards the feeling of home and safety pulling on her soul. She rushed faster and faster, ignoring the burning in her chest as her hope overtook her. "Please, please." She ran and ran and ran, carrying the fire that lit her way with hope and safety in her heart. The rain sizzled against the fire, but hope burned brighter and ignored the tempest.
A purple barrier, infused with so much energy it hurt to look at, appeared before her and Shaunie knew she was home. She hurried her sprinting until she ran past the barrier, feeling it wash over her skin like lightning-filled water. She felt hope and love infused into every pore of her body, she knew a powerful sacrifice had been cast to create the barrier. How she knew was unclear but she knew it, it was as obvious to her as the air she breathed, as the knowledge she felt in the fires that she could so easily summon.
She ran down the hill, and saw a boy and a saytr being helped by a beautiful blonde girl and a man with thinning hair. She sensed their fear, their kindness and warmth. Her eyes turned to the boy, and she frowned. The boy was beautiful with his black hair and olive skin, he looked like a young god but his aura was weak and she did not like that. Before the others could notice her, she was kneeling at his side.
"What are you doing?" The girl asked when the fire in Shaunie's hands exploded into life once more.
Ignoring them, she pressed the fire into the boy and it sank into him. His skin started to glow and he let out a long, warm sigh. His color deepened and a smile crossed his face. That made her happy. She looked up at the gaping figures.
"My name is Shaunie, please help me." And then, like that, she fainted.
